Flaming arrows would have been to provide visibility on the target location. Even if they had the rifles, they could have used flaming arrows to watch the hostiles run and adjust range appropriately. The shots came from the water, so whoever was shooting at least had a ship which makes me think they were hunting, and they were outside the Dharma fence which would have been Dharma's hunting groung for hostiles more so than the other way around.
The island halting the aging process keeps with the quick healing we've seen multiple times. The quick healing is probably associated with increased chemicals, mitocondrians or something that causes late term pregnancies to be overwhelmed also fitting with what Juliet has said. Juliet never linked any nose bleeds or such when she became very worried about Sun's pregnancy. Juliet had been with the Others for what, 2 years? Danielle's daughter is aged appropriately for not jumping. She had also been with the Others her entire life, so if the Others were shifting as a group, she would have had a very lonely childhood.
I started thinking the same thing once Sawyer and Juliet started heading inland by themselves. Hadn't thought about Rose and Bernard, but that would be quite appropriate. It is not just that they could have tried to stop Ethan from killing Locke, but Ethan did not give any consideration to time jumps. If he had been jumping, he eventually would have gone to the future where he would be at least familiar with Locke's name. I don't think he had jumped before even though he was good friends with Richard. I don't think so. Many of them wanted off the island. A number of them were killed by the freighter troopers, Some blew up on the freighter, & there's still at least a dozen of them on the beach now, at least until the arrow attack. I figure the people on the beach, who are shifting, are the last of the Losties. It's been a rough ride

Ben has also aged. Ben and Danielle are the only two people to "grow up" on the island?? What about... i forget his name.. the little boy from season one and two.. Could Locke and the dead snobby blond girl.. whose name I also forgot have seen him.. when shifting.. |

What I'm essentially saying is that the "Others" as they have been titled are different groups of people. There's probably no people left from Dharma (Though we never found out what happened to Ben's little girlfriend from childhood) However, people like Juliet, who came after the purge, are possibly not the same group of people as Richard, who predates Ben. Richard's time shifting might have been a phenomenon that began long before the Utopian society was built by Ben Juliet's been on the island 3 years, (So was Des, btw, & he had some shifting too) & Ethan has been there longer, but if he is from a separate group of people than Richard, then perhaps he as well as certain others, including maybe even Ben aren't time shifting nor have they ever been. Ben's time on the island seems pretty linear too, just like Alex's & Rouseau & Mikhail & Kelvin Inman. They are the post-purge society, of which Juliet is probably the last to arrive, which might, I say might explain why she is now shifting with the losties ![]() This is also another reason I think Richard is from the Black Rock crew, a totally different group
Oh, you're talking about Cindy & the kids, & the other abductees. The last we saw them they were preparing to leave the Barracks, around the time Ben told Locke to kill Anthony Cooper. She told Locke that people were staring at him because he's special, & they've been waiting for him It's possible they are shifting too. I'm not sure |

I just watched the episode where Locke destroyed the submarine. Locke and Ben's discussions cracked me up especially with Ben's delivery. Locke: The Man from Tallahassee, what is that? Some kind of code? Ben: No, John, unfortunately, we don't have a code for 'there's a man in my closet with a gun to my daughter's head;' although, we obviously should. |

Yeah, Michael Emerson's (Ben) delivery is just pure genius I loved how he spoke to Jack in the premier Jack: "They're not my friends anymore" Ben: "Oh, that's the spirit Jack" Plus, that scene with him & Hurley was just perfection. Ben trying is damnedest to seem friendly & genuine, & it just failing dismally

yeah I thought it was weird his name was charlie too. Glad the episode was island based as well. things that stood out for me charles widmore? latin? I see dead people we have a specific way of choosing our leaders and it starts in childhood. Come visit me and see The choosing the leader thing doesn't fit with them being from the ship. Neither does the woman. |

finally saw it! Nice twist on Charles Widmore! I would never have guessed that he was an ....... er.. belonged to that particular group. I think its cute that they named their kid charlie.. Im assuming its after the dead charlie.. and not her father. |

I'm sure the kid was named after dead Charlie, but just the thought that Charles may think the kid was named after him after what he's done to Penelope and Desmond surprises me. So Richard wasn't always dressed like a pirate and he used to work with the US Army. So the flaming arrows were from the Others, but the Others were in the role of the Dharma Initiative at the time. So many twists. |
