I can't believe I forgot to watch this last night. I just saw the episode on the computer. At least it was way less confusing than last week. Locke just made a BIG mistake...it appears. In the flashforward where Hurley tells Jack, "I made a mistake. I should have went with you." makes sense now. That Ben is one sneaky dude! :afraid:

It appears Ben had the plane blown out of the sky just to get rid of Goodwyn. The 'Losties' just got dragged into Ben's diabolical plot...then he had to deal with them. That is what I'm getting. Am I way off base?

I found it interesting you have three lost members...two helicopter people...battling over who can trust each other...duking it out...nearth death stuff...over are they going to gas up the Island...are they really trying to stop the gassing of the Island...all this going on...and, Sawyer and Hurley are playing horse shoes! _lmao_

I had the same reaction as you guys did to seeing Ben walk by them. My first thought was...they better get the hell away quick...and, I can see why Hurley said what he said to Jack in the flashforward. :awol:

My reaction to Widmore is he is trying to find Desmond for Penny. I could be way off base. This show is some roller-coaster ride!
And....the kids!

Are you suggesting that the Others that were sent made a full list and then took it to Jacob to approve like Santa?

Well, when the plane crashed, Ben sends Ethan & Goodwin, & tells them to bring lists in 3 days. I presume that these lists were a complete listing of everyone present. Then from the collective, Jacob put a list together of the ones that should be brought into their community. This may all be according to Ben, as he seems to be the only conduit between Jacob & The rest of the Others, which is why he seems jealous of Locke who has heard Jacob

This is why they mention "Jacob's List", & also why the two Others that Eko killed in "The Other 48 Days" had a list on them with names of the people to be abducted. All the abducted people were on Jacob's list

When Jack is about to remove Ben's tumor, Picket tells someone that they can't trust Jack, because he wasn't even on Jacob's list

What was the Ben flashback episode again?

Season 3, episode 20 "The Man Behind The Curtain" It was also the episode where Locke showed up at the Others' camp with his dad in a bag on his shoulder. Also the episode where we first see Jacob, & when Locke gets shot by Ben, at the Dharma grave pit

I've been thinking about the plane crash theory and how it relates to Ben wanting to get rid of Goodwyn. I don't believe that ben orchastrated the crash in order to kill him. First of all, it wasn't necessary. The island is a dangerous place and Goodwyn had a dangerous job. Crashing a plane and then hoping the survivors can be manipulated into killing Goodwyn is way too unpredictable. Not to mention the consequences of introducing all those extra people onto the island. If ben wanted to kill Goodwyn there were probably hundreds of easier and less complicated ways to do it.

I tend to dismiss the idea that Ben caused the crash too

But it does tend to seem like someone with a lot of power & money could have done it, like Charles Widmore. It's almost certain that he played a part in putting Desmond on the course that crashed him there. It's not that far of a leap to think he could have crashed a plane there too

But it is just a wild theory of mine, at this point. I bet next week's Jin & Sun episode will be VERY enlightening

I bet we're not done seeing Christian Shepard either :mojo:

I can't think of any reason for witmore to crash a plane there. Desmond was already there and if his intention was to remove him from his daughters life that was all that would have been required.

though it is a little strange that ben would allow desmond to continue operating such an important piece of the island when he was clearly losing it.

There actually has been no reference to the fact that Ben even knows who Desmond is
He might not know about him, though admittedly, that seems highly unlikely, but remember that Ben did not know about Desmond's sailboat, until Sayid got a hold of it. It's possible that Kelvin Inman was planning to escape, & leave Des, without anybody knowing about it or him

Widmore, however, is trying to find the island. The whole race may have been a ploy to find it, or at least getting Desmond fixated on entering it. He may have set up Desmond in order to get Penny to help locate the island

You'll have to forgive me. I'm fixated on Widmore lately  Sun's dad seems like he might be another uber rich guy that has his hands into this business too

good point. The race may have been his first attempt to find it. I wonder why more people in the race didn't end up there though?

and wasn't there a surveilance camera at the station watching desmond?

The only proof of surveillance of the Swan station, was from The Pearl station, but the people who were watching it were no longer at that post, & Ben doesn't seem interested in watching anything at the Swan, until Jack is in there, because he needed spinal surgery

For those who might not know, the Pearl station is the one with all the monitors, & the pneumatic tube that led to a dump in the middle of nowhere, The Swan is where Desmond lived for 3 years

I think Widamore's race was to see who disappears. He was probably tracking each ship to help narrow down the search for the island. Smart considering it's position is somewhere between Madagascar and Hawaii.

the plane crash appears to be a pure chance coincidence of Desmond's late entry of the code. I doubt anyone could have planned it unless Jacob has some currently unknown powers. Coincidence becomes more likely if the island is actually moving in whatever plan it is in. What did Desmond say when he was trying to sail away about ending up at the island again?

I think we might need another thread about which mysteries are still open.

feel free to start other threads

Plus we could probably use a thread that has no spoilers for people to talk about the show without ruining it for them

Well, Rab makes good points, but I just keep reaching for some explanation that could clear up why all the Losties crashed on that island. they seem almost hand picked

Lemme look into some of the unexplained things & I'll see about making a new thread

What I think Des said about sailing away from the island was that somehow the course he was following led him right back to it, or in circles, or something, but I'm having a hard time remembering now :pinch: He might have also started thinking that the world was gone or he was trapped in a lost world or something like that

So, which characters are you not all that fond of?

I, for one, am not particularly fond of Juliet :lus: She's just never been interesting to me

You know that a female character is fairly dull, when they try to come up with reasons to get her into a girl on girl catfight every season

she is a little boring. And stupid if she got lured to the island by choice. AND she is totally taking away from the jack/sawyer/kate love triangle

It sure doesn't do much for Jack's reputation that he is dumb enough to fall for her

It's not as if her loyalties are completely trustworthy, even now. Even if she is not working for Ben anymore, she definitely seems to be as bad a Sawyer with having her own self interest at heart

Notice she ain't hanging around Jack in the flashforwards
