When auditioning for the part of the holographic doctor on VOY, Robert Picardo was asked to say the line "Somebody forgot to turn off my program". He did so, then ad-libbed "I'm a doctor, not a light bulb" and got the part.

Kate Mulgrew (Captain Kathryn Janeway), Robert Beltran (Chakotay), Tim Russ (Tuvok) and Robert Duncan McNeill (Tom Paris) are the only actors to appear in every episode of the series.

Robert Duncan McNeill who plays Thomas Eugene Paris in this series, also appeared in the TNG episode _"Star Trek: The Next Generation" (1987) {The First Duty (#5.19)})_ as Nicholas Locarno. Locarno was originally supposed to be on Voyager instead, but various legal issues, like having to pay royalties to the writers of "The First Duty" for every single episode of Voyager Locarno would appear in made the idea unworkable, so they turned him into a different character. Tom Paris' background and personality were based in part on Locarno.

The character of Ensign Samantha Wildman was named after a real person, a little girl who died tragically in an accident. The girl's organs were donated to save the life of the wife of episode writer Jimmy Diggs. The real Samantha loved animals, so Ensign Wildman was cast as the head of Voyager's xenobiology department.

Near the end of the series, Dominic Keating tried out for a role in the show. He was turned down because Rick Berman wanted him for his new series, "Star Trek: Enterprise" (2001).

Before the VOY premiere, it was announced that the male Native American character (Chakotay) would have a wolf as a "spirit guide" and would be seen frequently during the series, however, the wolf never appeared. (Though we did see Captain Janeway's and learned that B'Elanna Torres tried to kill hers.)

Footage created by Industrial Light and Magic for Star Trek: First Contact (1996) showing the launch of Cochrane's ship, the Phoenix, is included in the opening credits of ENT.

Jeffrey Combs (Shran/Krem), Gary Graham (Vulcan Ambassador Soval) and Matt Winston (Crewman Daniels) are the only actors, besides the regulars, to appear in all four seasons.

The first Star Trek series to not use "starring" and "also starring" in the credits; also the first to not name the characters being played by the actors (i.e. [Actor] as [Character]).

ENT is the only "Star Trek" series to have the same regular cast throughout its entire run.

Scott Bakula jokingly suggested prior to the filming of the two-hour premiere that Captain Jonathan Archer's middle name might be Beckett, a reference to his previous television series, "Quantum Leap" (1989), in which his character was Dr. Sam Beckett.

Based on the official Star Trek Chronology, the series begins 10 years prior to the founding of the United Federation of Planets and 90 years after the events of Star Trek: First Contact (1996). Episode one takes place approximately 115 years prior to the start of "Star Trek" (1966) and 213 years before "Star Trek: The Next Generation" (1987).

In Capt. Archer's cabin, there is a photo on the wall of a Pan American World Airways Boeing Clipper. Gene Roddenberry was, at one time a pilot for Pan Am. Also displayed next to the Clipper photo is a small statuette of Zefram Cochrane with his arm reaching out, presumably a smaller-scaled model of the 20-meter-tall statue of Cochrane that Geordi described to Cochrane himself in Star Trek: First Contact (1996).

Several episodes feature clips from classic movies as the crew enjoys occasional "Movie Night" diversions. Most of the films that have been featured, such as For Whom the Bell Tolls (1943) and The Court Jester (1955) are, naturally, Paramount films (and Enterprise is produced by Paramount). However, one episode prominently featured footage from Frankenstein (1931), a Universal Studios production. By using films from its own libraries, Paramount thus avoided having to pay royalties.

T'Pol's age became a matter of some debate among fans (and a minor running joke on the series itself) during the show's first 3 seasons. According to the original writers' "bible" for the series, she is 67 years old at the time of "Broken Bow", a fact confirmed by Jolene Blalock in interviews. In the season three finale, "Zero Hour", however, T'Pol revealed that she is actually 65 years old (and will turn 66 on her next birthday). It has been speculated that either the writers shaved a few years off her age (since bibles are only guidelines), make a mistake, or T'Pol is lying about her age and is really 70.

In the "Star Trek: The Next Generation" (1987) episode "Yesterday's Enterprise", two references are made to planet Archer 4. Since no one has ever mentioned this in connection with "Star Trek: Enterprise" (2001), it is probably coincidental. In Star Trek: Nemesis (2002), we see a a starship named "Archer" on the tactical display; a planet named after one of the founding fathers of the Federation is not to hard to believe.

The episodes "Star Trek: Enterprise: Home (#4.3)" (2001) and "Star Trek: Enterprise: Daedalus (#4.10)" (2001) both reveal that Earth and Vulcan are 16 light-years distant from each other. According to Gene Roddenberry, James Blish (an author of various Star Trek novels as well as novelizations of all the Star Trek films), and multiple background sources (including endorsements from various scientists from the Harvard - Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics), planet Vulcan would likely be in orbit around the tri-nary star system 40 Eridani, a real-life tri-nary star system located 16.45 light years from Earth.
