I watched the remake of "True Grit" with Jeff Bridges playing the role of Rooster Cogburn, originally portrayed by John Wayne. I think I actually like this one better. Matt Damon did a good job as well. Its so refreshing to see straight cowboys.

not a fan of what they added or took away, but overall rather enjoyable.

Live long and prosper.....!!

Star Wars; A New Hope - gave up after a half hour !! :/

Star Trek; First Contact - gave up after 20 mins !! :(

I don't mind watching repeats (or dvds), but when I can do the dialogue better than the actors, I know it's time to check out the rest of the collection !! :/

I watched "The Eagle", a movie based on the book "The Eagle of the Ninth". I've always been fascinated by the history of the Roman Empire and its fall. I liked the movie well enough. As with any book you read and then see a movie, there are always things you feel shouldn't have been edited.

what eddie murphy did instead of a bit part in star trek: the voyage home.
he should've fired his agent over it.

Casino Royale-the original with David Niven, Peter Sellars and Woody Allen. Funny in places, confusing as hell. Still better than the crap Daniel Craig version.

Watched In Time last night with Justin Timberlake. It was an ok movie. Kinda an interesting concept. Though it really looked like a music video. Found the dialogue kinda dumb though.

giggled through it though cause my nephew's name is Justin and one of my brother in laws always call him just-in-time

Had a re-watch of this, and still can't understand why Nero behaves the way he did, in trying to destroy the Federation, just cos Romulus was destroyed by a supernova....!!

It's a freaking time machine ffs. Go back a day or so before the event, and hit the supernova with some "red matter" and turn that into a black hole, before it destroys your planet, moron !!

Also, considering what one drop of this "red matter" is capable of, the amount they have would be more than enough to turn the whole freaking universe into a black hole !!

Yeah, I know it's also telling the back-story of how Kirk et al began, before TOS. I just think that the film-makers from Paramount would have done a better job, but I will give **** for the special effects !!

There can be only one

There seems to be so many cool and interesting movies that are releasing these days...Woman in Black, Chronicle, John Carter.... A movie from last year "Immortals" which I didnt hear much about but still looked good, and a couple of others I cant seem to recall at the moment, but its refreshing to see that hollywood has been putting in an effort lately.

As for John Carter, I really need to take some time to look that up because there is something about it that reminds me of a book or series of books from a while ago, and wondering if its the one Im thinking about (that I cant remember the name of).
The unambiguous and defined essence of a truest friend, is a single soul, shared in two bodies. A person who completes you so, that it pains you when they hurt, and sustains you when they are with you, no matter how far.

Hugo

It was really good. The sets were so pretty and it was quite a unique premise. The child actors were pretty good and well cast. It bugged me that some people spoke English with a French accents and others with an English accent, but all the signs were in French. Make up your damn minds, film people!

War Horse

Enjoyed it. It dragged a little in places and had too little character development in others though. But I guess it's understandable in a movie with so many different characters/story lines. All of the acting was really good. I especially loved that French girl, she was adorable. Also had that annoying thing were the Germans speak German in the background, but English when focused on. Pick one dammit.

The Descendants

Reasonably good movie. Don't really think it's special enough to be nominated for an Oscar, but it was alright.

The Artist

really enjoyed it. It was a lot better than I thought it would be. I hope it wins the Oscar.

Edit: Just figured out where I recognized the end music from; they scabbed it from Vertigo. Odd. But oh well, I still liked it.

El Niņo Pez (The Fish Child)

I was expecting it to be a cheesy love story movie about two young women that fall in love with each other. To my surprise, it was a crime thriller and a good one at that. It's a bit confusing because it runs with what happened in the present and then it flashes back. Then it flashes forward to the present again after some details are explained.

stripes

after loosing his job, girlfriend, apartment & car bill murry joins the army & talks harold ramis into going with him. hilarity ensues.

the secret of my success

kansas farm boy michael j. fox, fresh out of college, dreams of making it big in the corporate world in new york. when his job falls through, he calls on an uncle (sort of uncle) to get him a job. he's stuck in the mail-room, but stumbles on a way to move up. by pretending to be someone else.
typical 1980s reagan-era movie.
