I find him creepy as all his films seem to be about personal wish fulfilment (usually sex with starlets). This one was ok because in a way the whole film was about wish fulfilment, and whether you really want the things you fantasise about. Maybe all his stuff is like that and i've just been really unfair, I don't know.

Last night I saw Midnight in Paris, the new Woody Allen film. I haven't seen a lot of his stuff, but I really liked this. It's about Owen Wilson as a Woody Allen type character who visits Paris with his fiancé, and finds himself travelling back to the 1920s every night and meeting the cultural figures of the day- Hemingway, Picasso etc.

It's basically that game people play- if you could visit any time in history and experience the best it has to offer, when would it be? But it has a kind of magical atmosphere of the sort i'm a sucker for, and it's pretty funny in places, particularly Michael Sheen as his fiancés pretentious friend and Adrien Brody as Salvador Dali.

Go and watch it
This sounds interesting. I think it's left the theatres here though, will have to wait til it's released on dvd.

The 39 Steps and The Lady Vanishes

Loved them! There were a couple of plot holes and I liked the mystery in the Lady Vanishes better than the resoloution, but they were still really enjoyable. And surprisingly funny too.

watched The Bridesmaids. Been hearing about this movie all summer and was really looking forward to it. But I was so disapointed. It was kinda all over the place. And depressing.
yeah i agree completely. i kept hearing people raving about it, but it failed to do anything for me.

The 1934 version of the Man Who Knew Too Much. Wasn't as good as the later one. It dragged forever and didn't make much sense.

Hocus Pocus with Sarah Jessica Parker and Bette Middler.

It was pretty good actually. Obviously a kid oriented movie but a decent one. Sara Jessica Parker was hysterical in it.

Jamaica Inn ~ Another Hitchcock film. It was pretty good. The ending was kinda weird though. And abrupt.

It had surprisingly good effects for a 1939 film. There's a bit where a ship wrecks, and of course it is obviously a minature, but it looked better than you'd expect.

Was forced to watch Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill at a friend's place. Dear God why is Quentin Tarantino allowed to make movies? Some of the most boring, stupid, horrifying crap I've ever seen in my life.

Kill Bill has taken the place of Rango as the worst movie I've ever seen.

Tarantino films may be entirely style over substance, gratuitous ultraviolence and references to old 70s films that i've never even heard of, but I kind of think they're a guilty pleasure. They're pretty funny a lot of the time.

kill bill part 2 is a bit better than the first one.
and (i never seen it) but my brother said that
pulp fiction was one long mess. he left it run for bathroom
breaks & said he didn't miss anything.

^ That's funny because all of my friends said that part 2 is shit compared to the first one :idon'tknow:

Agree on Pulp Fiction being a mess. There are two or three good lines and the rest... :wtf: :pinch:   is really all that can be said.

But I watched Inglorious Basterds after all my friends insisted it was Tarantino's most crappy and boring film, and naturally, aside from the gratuitous violence, I really liked it

the living daylights

the first dalton bond movie.
not the worst, not the best.
daltion is supposed to be a more ruthless bond,
but i think he was more more "ruthless" than connery.
but i suppose after moore most anyone would seem ruthless.

I'm slowly updating my Disney collection from VHS to DVD. Latest editions are Aladdin & Beauty & the Beast. Just watched Aladdin, just as great as I remembered it was. Now watching Beauty & the Beast - yep I'm singing along :)

I've also per-ordered The Lion King (my favourite Disney film) it's been re-released on the 7th November. Can't wait to watch it! I did have it already on DVD but the disk broke :(

I made it about halfway through Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, I'm done with the series. Does it just go on and on with no point? Moving on, I can say I tried to watch the series.

How does Deathly Hallows not have a point? They are trying to kill Horcruxes. I can understand thinking Half Blood Prince or even Order of the Phoenix doesn't have a point, because they left so much out it doesn't make sense, but Deathly Hallows definitely has a point and makes sense. Guess it's just not your thing.

Saw three more Hitchcock films, Sabotage, Foreign Correspondent and Secret Agent. They were all very good, particularly Foreign Correspondent.

Interesting that I like his not-very-well-known work better than most of his famous stuff.
