just watched ghostbusters for what must be the 50th time. my brother & i were saying some of the lines before they did. a bit of info; supposedly rick moranis didn't reprise his rol for the ghostbusters video game because he made enough money form the honey, i shrunk the kids movies that he rarely feels the need to work. |

Hangover 2 gross, raunchy, lots of penis and boobs... freaking hilarious. I actually liked it much better than the first. |

X-Men First Class Really good superhero movie. I liked how they interwove the story with real events in the Cuban Missile Crisis. James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender were great as Xavier and Magneto respectively. Going in I thought there would be no way they could fill Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellan's shoes, but I was pleasantly surprised. All in all, I'd say it was better than any other X-Men movies that have been made previously. Oh, and the little cameo by Hugh Jackman as Wolverine was just perfect.

Yeah I noticed that to. A bummer. My childhood memories had it in use bunches more. But, in reality, it was used like once or twice and in the end it wasn't even the weapon that saved the good guys. Still a fantastic flick. |

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban Ok, this one was much better than the first two. Really enjoyed this one. And visually it is way better than the first two as well. Though I have to admit to a couple WTF just happened moments towards the end.

X Men First Class I liked it. I can't say how good it was in comparison to the others because I haven't seen them (yet. I've always meant to and never gotten around to it) but it was interesting. I liked the whole tie in to the Cuban Missile Crisis (though I think they failed a little at capturing the 'this is set in the 60's' feel. Everything was just too modern-looking.) I loved that they actually had people speaking German, Russian etc rather than that irritating thing where foreign characters speak English with an accent. Since I didn't know it was coming, it was depressing when Erik and Raven Spoiler: click to toggle Wolverine's cameo was the best thing ever! ![]() Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone: Actually, not as bad as I remember. I remember thinking the kids' acting was awful, but they're actually pretty good for their age, and it wasn't as boring and dragged out as I remember. I liked it better this time than any previous time I've seen it. I had the same reaction the first time I reread the book since I was a kid too (though that may have had something to do with the fact that I was in a situation where I had absolutely nothing else to do for about five hours and it was either read Philospher's Stone or literally die of boredom. ) One big thing in its favour is that it sticks closer to the book than any of the others. Don't like that Dumbledore though. I mean, I don't particularly like Dumbles any way, but the second one is way better.

A Clockwork Orange. A lot of phallic symbolization. Like that fat penis statue in that cat lady's house. |

Super 8 I really liked it. The suspense/mystery was really good at the start, and whilst it took a turn for the predictable towards the end, it was still entertaining. The acting was quite good, considering their ages. The style of the dialogue was really interesting too. It sounded like how people actually talk (i.e. kinda stilted and with people talking over the top of other people) which could be annoying but I think it worked with the overall tone of the film. And best of all, no lensflare or shaky camera in stupid places! Lets hope JJ has learnt his lesson for Star Trek XII. |

Silent Running (1972) Very cheesey 1970's sci-fi film where all plant life in Earth has gone extinct. I see why a few folks like it. Very simplistic. The Valley Forge (the ship that carries the forest domes) looks similar to the Discovery (2001: A Space Odyssey) with two heads and the Drones look like Wall-E. |

Chamber of Secrets It was good, and, like PS, better than I remembered it. I recently reread the book too, and I think the movie is better at getting to the point. The book rambles a little in places, like how Harry and Ron don't go into the Forest after the spiders for a couple of weeks after Hagrid tells them to, and in the movie they just go straight in. Though I'm saddened by Lockhart's greatly reduced pompousness. He's so much more of a prick in the book, which would have been fun to watch. And the book did one thing much better; foreshadow that Ginny was being possessed by having her acting weird a lot. I think there was maybe one scene of that in the movie, and it wouldn't have even looked odd to someone who hadn't read the book. Prisoner of Azkaban: It strayed further from the books than the previous two, which annoys me, but it's still my favourite. And its cinematic quality is far superior. And it has much nicer music too. There were a few stupid scenes (like that face-blurring bit with the Firebolt at the end, I mean seriously, WTF?) but it was mostly great, and I loved the way the Time Turner scene was different and longer than in the book. |

Me too. I think it's probably best to read the books after seeing the movies, so that way you don't go :jedimags: gah, they changed that! omg, they cut that!

Wait, this is the first time you've seen any of the movies? I guess you picked a good time with the last one just a month away. You probably even have time to read the full series of books before the last one. |

Gnome and Juliet Cute gnome movie. Patrick Stewart had a very fitting scene. Dawn Treader Better than the last of the series. Visually stunning, but the story felt like it was missing something or was a little fast paced. Still makes me want to reread the series. Moon Good movie. I liked how they mostly skipped the need for an explanation and went to accepting or denying the explanation. Adjustment Bureau Good movie. Didn't care for the general premise, but it was put together very well. I liked watching Damon trying to get around the Bureau. |
