Krull-haven't seen this movie since I was 8, and remember it was awesome. Now decided to watch it again. Sill awesome, although I notice the superweapon Glave that the movie is known for was very underused and in fact spends the whole movie hanging from Colwins belt even though there are many situations where it really would have come in handy!

In the tradition of 12 Monkeys or Deja Vu, this was a good movie. Also, had a Quantum Leap connection. Half of the movie was on the train I ride everyday - although they had a newer train car that made me a little jealous. Even though my first guess was correct, the movie was able to keep surprising me making a very enjoyable film.

a view to a kill

the last of the rodger moore bond movies. and thank the gods! not only was moore getting a bit long in the tooth to continue in the role, but the main bond girl (tanya roberts) couldn't act her way out of a paper bag. christopher walken was very good as the bad guy, as usual. (is ever a good guy?)
casting notes: alison doody who would later co-star in indiana jones & the last crusade had a minor role and dolph lundgren had a non-speaking role as one of general gogol's bodyguards.

this was voted on some poll as having the best of the bond theme songs. i disagree; it's one of the worst. IMHO.

FYI patrick macnee (sir godfery) starred in the 1960s TV show the avengers. his co-star in that series, diana rigg was tracy in on her majesty's secret service & later co-star honor blackman was pussy galore in goldfinger.

Thor:
I rather liked it. Thor wasnt a comic I was into as a kid... always thought a man flying around with a hammer was strange. (like the rest of it wasnt? )
but the movie was well done!

x-men

hadn't seen it in a while & had forgotten a few things. like storm having a slight african accent (did they drop that later?) and that table-top 3D map thing (that they never use again) over all not a bad movie. it was better than 2 & much better than 3

Reasonably good, though there was a gigantic plot hole that bothered me. Aside from that it was interesting.

Paul

I liked it. It was funny and the plot was not as predictable as I thought it'd be.

clash of the titans.. the newer one

never saw the old one.. so I cant compare...
I liked the movie... I dont see how there were any "titans" in the movie... Perseus is a hero..or Demigod..
the Pegaus and Medusa and the kracken fall under the "creature category
The gods are obvious...Zeus, Hades etc
the Stygian Witches... are witches Not sure what else..

no Titans though... :idon'tknow:

Thor

It was pretty good, despite the utter uselessness of Natalie Portman's character.

Chris Hemsworth is awesome :)

I think they made Loki a little too sympathetic though. He wasn't an effective villain because I still felt bad for him at the end.

I'm a little backed up on this but here are the last few movies off the Netflix:

Valley of the Dolls (1967)

Kind of tragic. The only character that came out good was the one not popping all the pills, Annie (the model chick). I felt bad for Jennifer, the actress who was a showgirl who married the night club singer. Her husband that succumbed to Huntington's disease and was put up in a sanitarium. Then she finds out she has Breast cancer and commits suicide. I didn't feel bad for Neely (the other actress) she brought a lot of her issues upon herself through drinking and pill popping.

Escape From New York (1981)

Kind of disappointing. It was made back in 1980's, the music and opening scene reminded me of a video game. I got bored through the middle of it and all I could think about was Why did the President of the United States have an English accent? No offensive to anyone that is English here, so I don't want to spark a debate because it is just a movie. And I don't want to spark recent debate about the President of the United States ... you know, yeah it was just a move.

2010 (1984)

The Sequel to 2001: A Space Odyssey. I fell asleep on it and had to watch it twice. I liked the mystery of the Monolith from 2001 and much liked the way that ended. The ending was okay in 2010..but 2001 is the better film.

They Live (1988)

Has got to be one of my most favorite of all craptacular sci-fi films ever made. I find it funny as hell especially the grocery store scene where he tells one old snotty lady how ugly she is, I forgot the rest of the line. :liz:

Thinking about it though, the economy now is crap (even though it is in a somewhat recovery) families are still going homeless to foreclosures. In the film, the economy is crap yet the evil big corporations still manage to still have money and yet jobs are scarce.

Yeah, never understood that myself....Cronos was a Titan, along with Oceanus, Hyperion and Phoebe - thats all I know off the top of my head....so I guess it was just a catchier name than CLASH OF THE CREATURES

Io, the metallic owl that was tossed aside earlier in the movie, was a tribute nod (or total dis depending on how you wanna look at it) to the original movie.
The unambiguous and defined essence of a truest friend, is a single soul, shared in two bodies. A person who completes you so, that it pains you when they hurt, and sustains you when they are with you, no matter how far.

Little Fockers.
Okay. In the trilogy, probably the most bearable of Ben Stiller's plights for me.

I have to say the Roger Moore movies are my least favourite. It just got too campy during that period.
I agree with Wissa here BUT... I have to say the Moore movies have aged well and they in fact become better as the years past. He had a hard time being compared with Sean Connery cause back in the day ol' Sean was synonymous with 007. A fact that wore heavily on Connery. Now so much time has passed and so many actors taken on the role that the character is no longer identified with Connery to the extent it once was.

Anyways, I find the Moore films more enjoyable of late than I once did.

Sherlock... I mean... KHANNNNNNN

Fast & Furious 5 or Fast 5 as it's known.

Finally got to see after almost a month since it's release date here.

I only have one word to describe it: AWESOME!!!!!

Loved every second & I loved that they finally brought Sung Kang's character, Han, in to do a full film with the original cast since I was very disappointed with his minor role in the fourth one.

The stunts were incredible from the get go, the cars amazing &
Spoiler: click to toggle

Oh I think there's a sixth one on the cards since

that has to be one of the best movies ever made. It's emotionally gutwrenching and technically it's stunning.

Harry Potter and the philosopher stone.

Saw this when it first came out but I barely remember it. We finally talked the kids into watching it. They were riveted and now we are going to watch the whole thing. I have to admit I was a little disapointed. Didn't find it a whole lot different than a lot of kids movies that have been kicking around lately.

I imagine it seems familar because in the years since its release it's had a lot of imitators.

Tonight I plan to watch Hercules in New York starring a young, illegitimate childless Arnold Schwarzenegger.
