diamonds are forever

after not being in on her majesty's secret service connery is back as bond. (for a large salary & a cut of the profits. all of which went to some foundation of his)
while it's nice to see him, it's kind of obvious he's going through the motions. the script isn't much to talk about, the bad guys don't seem all that threatening & the "bond girl" seems to have an IQ just a few points higher than her bra size. although she seems to start out a bit smarter than that.

Excellent review, AWOL. Susan St. James plays the Bond girl, I seem to remember, and a couple of gay guys the 'baddies'.

There's one scene, where a guy falls off his trike motorcycle. The guy get's back on and fires it up, then sits there waiting for Bond to knock him off again. And the fight with 'Bambi' and 'Thumper' is quite amusing.

Bond movies aren't supposed to be taken seriously anyway, but this is one of the funniest !!

Okay, in my newest quest to discover all these horror flicks that were popular in the 80's I have now finished friday the 13th part 2 and have only two questions:

1) Wheres this hockey mask?
2) are these supposed to be scary?
What?!?!?!?!

Sci-fi action pic, sees Jet Li transporting between the various universes in the multiverse, to kill all the different versions of himself, until there is only one left. Jason Statham is one of the cops trying to stop him.

Any Jet Li movie naturally has lots of martial arts, and this one doesn't disappoint. The action has a 'Matrix' feel to it, with slow motion and 'impossible' moves, but that doesn't detract from the enjoyment, rather it adds to it. The final conflict, with Jet fighting himself is very well done. *****

"The Fighter" starring Mark Wahlberg and Christian Bale. It's based on the true story of the boxing career of Micky Ward and is intertwined with the story of his older brother Dicky Eklund. The movie was awesome. Wahlberg leads as Micky Ward and does a fine job, but Christian Bale absolutely steals the show as Dicky Eklund. Bale definitely deserves an Oscar for his performance. It's an engaging story, and the boxing sequences were well filmed.

In my quest to discover what the big hype is about these horror flicks, I watched Part 4 tonight. I see one common theme here in the Friday the 13th movie; there is absolutely no plot whatsoever! Oh I wonder if I will make it through the next 8 of them............. I hear Jason fights aliens in one of the sequels.

As I understand it, it isn't the kind of movie you dissect and analyse. Munch popcorn and let it wash over, when you've nothing better to do, is more like it.

This was an enjoyable film.

The effects were good, it was beautifully "stylized", and held the entire families interest for the entire 2 hours and 5 minutes of play. No small feet with our age range.

I really want to see it, if just for the Daft Punk soundtrack.

It's a Trap! Not as good as Blue Harvest and definitely not as good as Something Something Something Darkside, but still well put together.

like the movie.. but to many plot weirdness'

basic stuff like after they fill him with the adamantium... they send losers with guns to kill him..wtf its not a viable plot thingy

Knocked up: the unrated unprotected version
pretty darn funny.

Well, he was unique, and all others failed before him.....What else were they gonna send after him?

I watched CREATION, the movie about how Darwin finally led up to publishing his book, On the Origin of Species....I thought it was a magnificent film.

die hard & die hard 2 (what? they're set at christmas)

if you've mostly seen them on tv you forget how many time they use the F-word (the M-F one too) i get they could do most of those movies just using variations on both words.
both movies are ok as more or less mind-less action movies, popcorn munchers if you will. in the first one they briefly showed a gas station sign & it was like 74 cents a gallon!

in the second movie the motivation for the former military unite was to free the dictator/general/drug lord because he was taking a stand against the spread of communism (i thought that was over by the 1990s)

Die Hard 3 & 4 are more of the same, as you say popcorn munchers. Although 3 does link back nicely to the first movie, while 4 has Mary Elizabeth Winstead as McClane's teenage daughter as collateral when Timothy Olliphant's terrorists 'shut down' the USA. Have to admit, I liked the whole series, and it wouldn't have been nearly as good without Bruce Willis in the main role.

I watched the original Escape to Witch Mountain with the kids today. It was way better than the recent re-make with The Rock. The kid from the Wrath of Khan was also in this movie.
