Grownups
A good family movie for grownups. Childhood buds come back together for a weekend with their wives and kids. Big pieces came to a bunch of comedians sitting around teasing each other. Not a comedy for kids, but not late night comedy crass.

Sorcerers Apprentice
Entertaining watch. And the kids enjoyed it. There started to be a little too much chasing around at one point but it finished strong.

Grownups
Much better and smarter than I expected it to be. I was expecting it to all be crude jokes and they were there, but it had a kind heart and some good messages.

Eclipse
Thought it was a great addition to the franchise. They did a good job of transfering the gist of things to the big screen without losing the feel of the book.

Hot Tub Time Machine - Meh it could have been worse. Not much to praise though

Kick-Ass. I liked it a lot more than I expected. A rather weird little movie, but it keeps you interested

Have to admit, we sat and watched this several times when we first got the dvd, just to get a handle on who's who and what's what. Finally came to realise that only the interview between Kevin Spacey and the cop was real, everything else was made up by him.
And pretty sure I know who Kaiser Sosa is, too!
We gave it ****

Two of director Ang Lee's best imho. The special effects are superb, especially the flying scenes, and Zhang Ziyi (in both movies) is outstanding !! ***** (each)

Expendables.
Focus mainly on Stallone and Statham. They killed a lot of people in this movie, often with knives. Despite blood squirting and body parts flying, it could have been much gorier if it wanted to - except for whatever Lundgren was firing. Jet Li fight scenes were notable only because they acknowledged that size does actually matter in a fight. Enjoyable enough if you know you're really just watching it because it has a lot of action stars in it.

I agree. At first I was thinking, "Oh great, another fart and poop movie." We watched it and it did good things for me.

Further steeled my resolve to get out of this hell-hole too.

Yeah, I just saw that today too. I liked it. It hearkened me back to the heyday of multiple tough guy action flicks, like Predator, & Con-Air. They should do another, while it lasts

Finally saw Toy Story 3 too. These guys really have put together one of the most well balanced & complete trilogies ever accomplished, cartoon toys & whatnot aside. The voice talent alone was astoundingly vast

Jim Carrey's animated christmas carol.

it was alright. Varied a little from the traditional alistar sims one we always watch. Now I'm curious to actually read it and find out which is more accurate.

oh and we rented the expendables but havn't watched it.

We liked the Patrick Stewart version of A Christmas Carol, which we saw last year.

Not seen any movies recently.

Star Trek:TMP

I actually stayed awake enough to make it a bit further in one sitting before falling asleep. Usually I zone out round about when Kirk arrives at the refitted 1701. Today, I made it to where VGER takes over Ilia then zoned out. To wake up, rewind then watch to the end.
