Live long and prosper.....!!

That's an excellent movie, and Robert Shaw (Jaws, etc) set the standard for Bond villains imho.

It looked great. The acting and dialogue where painful though. I don't know why they would put that much effort into a movie's effects but none into the script or getting some decent actors.

predators still watching it. That should tell you everything.

The Pacific.

The Marine Corps version of Band of Brothers.

There were times when it was really good and times when I was disgusted. I don't know why US Marines can't get a good movie made without the need to darkly psychoanalyze them. And the fuck scenes were a lot out of place and over-done. The army is always treated with hallowed respect while Marines are seen as head cases.

Sequel to the original, based on the martial arts video game. More of the same, basically. ***

Once again, Johnny Depp proves his mastery of character acting - as well as singing - in director Tim Burton's dark musical. Ably assisted by Helena Bonham-Carter and Alan Rickman, amongst other well-known talent, the movie easily sucks you in and carries you along on a journey of Gothic horror, and the mainly monochromatic visuals add to the look of the movie. *****

Toy Story 3

Kids have it on now. I saw it at the cinema & was just as freaked out by a lot of the toys then as I am now. I hate the Clown, the Baby & that Monkey gave me nightmares! :afraid:

It made me feel so bad for throwing out old toys. I though it was quite horrifying in some parts. I think it's been made for an older audience - like the ones that were kids when the first one came out.
Thats about the only new movie I've seen in months, but I have children. Anyways it was scary and demented, but I liked it. Scared the hell out of my five year old. The ending was really good though and brings it full circle well.

Toy Story 3 (preceded by the first 2 for the kids).
Both my kids enjoyed it and then we went and saw it again at my son's school. No one acted scared, but it was sad.

Harry Potter 7a
Really enjoyed it. HP is stuck on my brain, so now I'm reading the books.

Vampire's Assistant
Enjoyable. Started with low expectations.

it's interesting to see how the movies compare with the novels IMHO.

I just watched The Informant with Matt Damon and Scott Bakula. It was a bit funny and clever. I'd give it a four out of ten.

Sci-fi movie, with Russell Crowe on excellent form as an insane computer simulation that is brought into the real world, and embarks on a publicity-fuelled killing spree. Denzel Washington is the cop who has to bring him down, while trying to save lives. Only gripe really, is that Washington keeps getting blamed for all the deaths, despite forensic and eye-witness evidence to the contrary. In many ways this movie plays a lot like a cross between the Matrix and Blade Runner, and the many action scenes means it never gets boring. ****

Goldefinger, I just watched that a few weeks ago. I thought it had the worst acting for a Bond movie. But interesting plot.

Supernatural thriller. A man (Keanu Reeves) who can see spirits in human guise, and a cop (Rachel Weisz), are drawn into a battle to save humanity from the forces of evil. Plenty of action, eye-popping special effects, and Tilda Swinton as the angel Gabriel makes this enjoyable without being preachy. ****

Follow that Bird-A great 80's Sesame Street movie. A social worker apprehends Big Bird and puts him in the worst foster home on earth in Idaho. Big Bird then runs away, hitch hikes with Waylon Jennings, and gets kidnapped by Dave Thomas(the SCTV guy, not the Wendys guy) Bob, Maria, Oscar, Supergrover and Jon Candy have to save him, while Chevy Chase and Kermit the frog do the news story. Great movie!

Sci-fi sequel to the excellent Pitch Black, sees Riddick (Vin Diesel) going up against the Necromongers, an army of half-dead conquerors searching for a fabled 'Underverse', led by the Lord Marshal (Colm Feore). Director David Twohy used the bigger budget to good use, with lots of action and special effects, in this 'good vs evil' epic. Judi Dench, Karl Urban and Thandie Newton lead the cast of thousands. *****

"Get away from her, you BITCH !!"

Sci-fi sequel. Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) joins a company of Marines to discover what's happening on LV-426, the planetoid from the first movie. (I'm into sequels atm !!) When they are overrun by aliens, and most of the company killed, Ripley very quickly takes the lead along side Cpl. Hicks (Michael Bihen) to get things organised. Excellent performances from all, including Lance Henricksen as the android Bishop, and especially Carrie Henn as the young girl 'Newt' (who steals every scene she's in). Director James Cameron at his best. *****
