I recently rented 9 from Netflix. I loved it and I'd certainly recommend it. 9
You know, critics kicked the crap out of this movie for being a bad or weak story, but I liked the movie. Quite a visionary style, & though the plot wasn't perfect, it didn't stop me from enjoying the movie. Did you watch the original short film version in the dvd features. That's pretty cool too

Another of director Roland Emmerich's end-of-the-world-as-we-know-it movies, only here the special effects are apocalyptic (which figures, I guess) and stunningly executed. Especially good are the explosive destruction of Yellowstone with hippy radio host Woody Harrelson on the scene, and Los Vegas disappearing bit by bit into the ground. John Cusack leads the long list of famous faces in dire peril, and the story mainly revolves around him, as he tries to save his estranged wife and kids and their new dad. Danny Glover as the US President gives a solid performance as usual, and John Billingsley (Phlox from Enterprise) as an aide, likewise. Funnily enough, the only ones doing most of the panicking, are some of the 'chosen few' who almost missed the ark-ships !!

Don't look for any deep meaning from this movie, there really isn't any. Everything happens pretty much as you'd expect from a formulaic disaster movie. Just get a large tub of popcorn and a drink, and settle down and let the effects carry you along. Having said that - and being a Roland Emmerich movie - it is very watchable. *****

We watched this in some dismay at the human arrogance, thinking they can take whatever they want and to hell with the natives. But it's obvious that's exactly what the movie is about, and we both cheered when the Na'vi rose up to defeat them !! Stunning graphics (thanks to Weta Digital, who did LOTR), and amazing performances, it deserves every Oscar it won. *****

How to train your dragon.

Good fun. Kids enjoyed it and I didn't hate it.

Borrow the DVD of the new Robin Hood starring Russell Crowe. Very different from the other Robin Hood movies.
Very different, indeed.

But, it worked for me. Not a great film but good entertainment. I did like the historical tie in with King John and the Magna Carta.

Never trust a politician who "humbly" accepts the top job, they always have a hidden agenda.
Better yet, never trust a politician !!

Good movie, plenty of action, great visuals. *****

Tried watching this online, which was pointless as the sound was about 5 secs behind the action and dialogue, making it unwatchable. Tried everything to get it in sync, but no good. Can't rate it, as I gave up after a minute or two, so haven't seen it yet.

Grown Up's w/ Adam Sandler et. al.

Lots of fun, good family movie (well there is some crude humor... it's Adam Sandler) but, the movie is heart warming and very funny.

Watched about half of this, before falling asleep. Roland Emmerich did it waaay better, so go with that and don't waste your time with this one !! Rated for effort only. **

Toy Story 3

Kids have it on now. I saw it at the cinema & was just as freaked out by a lot of the toys then as I am now. I hate the Clown, the Baby & that Monkey gave me nightmares! :afraid:

It made me feel so bad for throwing out old toys. I though it was quite horrifying in some parts. I think it's been made for an older audience - like the ones that were kids when the first one came out.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part one.

Awesome movie if you are a fan!

Decent movie if you arent. They dont go into a lot of detail to explain things to noobs... so if you havent read the book.. you might be lost on a few things... or maybe you just wont realise that you are missing stuff.. :idon'tknow:
