It's Christmas!

Borrow the DVD of the new Robin Hood starring Russell Crowe. Very different from the other Robin Hood movies.

Oh, that's a good movie Violet, though really you need to watch the first one, Underworld, it helps to understand them. And Kate Beckinsale is simply stunning !!

Legend of the Guardians

So much better than I was expecting. It was from the same people who made Happy Feet, which I didn't like very much, so I wasn't expecting it to be great, but it was. The plot was really interesting and had a few deviations from the predictable cliched route it could've taken and the CG animation was some of the best I've seen.

Strangers
I've just watched it on cable. Talk about a waste of time! The acting was subpar the plot was unfortunate and boring and the ending was a huge waste of time. Out of all of the Halloween movies being aired this month I had to waste my time on this one. Liv Tyler is fun to watch but beyond that you're yelling at the characters to get a clue. I defy you to come up with a counter argument.

Nursery University (2008)

It’s a documentary that followed five families and the Pre-School registration process in Manhattan (New York City).

To be honest, it is IN-F******-SANE!!! The process that follows is the same as if a 16/17-year kid applying to college/university. No, these are parents of 3-year olds trying to get their children into a $20,000/year program.

It’s Manhattan and I understand that prominent families want their kids to prominent schools. However, acting like jerks (as one mother did in the documentary) does not make you better than anyone else that is applying to the same school. The pre-schools have limited space and were screening applications as if the child was potential college student. And the comments by some of the directors of the schools were just ill. These kids are Three Years Old!!! One exception was the Mendel School director. I thought she was down to earth and real.

Just saw "Red" With Bruce Willis. Meh... it was good enough, for a comedy. The multitude of great actors was its saving grace. Certainly wasn't much story to go on, & the dialogue was rather pedestrian, but the cast list reads like a who's who, from 20 years ago. Probably not much rewatchability though

Is that a word? Rewatchability? LOL

ok :glomp: My mind was imagining things

I'm by no means a scholar or grammatical perfectionist, but sometimes poor English gets under my skin at work, because I deal with a lot of coworkers who routinely say things like "Hardworkingest". hopefully I don't inflict my reaction on too many people

Anyway... RED. If you like Bruce Willis, you might like it. Morgan Freeman's part is too small, but John Malkovitch is funny

Kick-Ass
Much better than Defendor in humor and gruesomeness. The little girl had more moves than the hero in a large litany of action movies, and I'm not sure if I like the movie more or less as a result. While the movie showed that daddies can shoot little girls wearing kevlar, it did try to show that pretending to be a superhero is not a healthy decision.

Sequel to the original, sees Donny Wahlberg and Dina Mayer as cops who are on Jigsaw's trail, but there's a surprise waiting for them - Wahlberg's estraged son is one of nine captives in Jigsaw's house, all are criminals of some kind, and all arrested and sent to prison by Wahlberg on trumped-up charges. It's only a matter of time before they learn who the boy's father is, and time is running out !!

As usual, the ingenious traps are the real stars of the movie, including a hand-trap you can put hands in but not get out without losing them, and a pit filled with hyperdermic needles one of which has an essential key attached.

Not exactly shocking, or particularly gruesome, but worth watching especially at halloween !! ****
