(500) days of Summer - OK first a disclaimer i am completely in love with Zooey Deschanel. So this review might be a little skewed. The movie is really good. It jumps around to a bunch of the days within the 500 days of the relationship. It's a good concept. Showing all the extreme highs and lows of a typical relationship. Worth of look. Waiting.... meh... if the people in "American Pie" were waiters at Applebees. Thats pretty much the concept. Not a terrible movie. But nothing that sets it apart and makes it special. 9 HOLY CRAP! I fracken LOVE this movie! It's post-apocalypse and that only thing that survived are 9 sentient rag dolls. Seeing how those little guys solve problems and figure out how to use stuff. But beware this is at it's core a HORROR movie. This is NOT "Toy Story". It's more like "Alien". Worth seeing. |

District 9 ok i can be kind of pretentious about art sometimes. I look for deeper meanings. What was the artist really thinking. Well this movie has a lot to analyze. There are so many social and political concepts you could write a paper on it. Plus it was really good! |

This is it Kinda oddly put together but they weren't planning to release a movie when they shot the film so understandable. Still interesting look into the creative process. One thing shone through, that man was healthy and had a lot of energy. Couples Retreat. standard Vince Vaughn comedy. Not that that is a bad thing. |

Underworld / Underworld: Evolution In a much-needed break from the standard vampire movies, these pit the ruling vampire class at war with the previously-subservient werewolves (or Lycans), for dominance. Bill Nighy and Martin Sheen put in credible performances as the heads of each clan, with a suitably talented cast in support. The second movie is more of the same, with Derek Jacoby as the father of the two brothers who created the divided clans centuries before. Solid performances all round, though it has to be said that lovely Kate Beckinsale's vampire steals every scene she's in, which is most of both movies (but then, am biased !!). Definitely well worth watching. ***** |

Sherlock Holmes: Really liked it. I was initially dubious because I've never been a great fan of the books, but I think they did a good job of spicing the action up while still keeping the essential parts of the characters intact. It was a little slow in places, and I think they focused too much on the clues along the way. It would have been more interesting to have been presented with the answer at the end without having the camera zoom in on something every few seconds, indicating that "THIS WILL BE IMPORTANT LATER" The acting was very good, but some of the dialogue was difficult to understand because of the accents. Loved the old married couple-type banter between Holmes and Watson; it was hilarious. Especially "Get that out of my face." "It's not in your face it's in my hand." "Get what's in your hand out of my face." ![]() Reminded me of House and Wilson a lot. All in all, a clever and engaging movie. I've already seen it twice and would see it again. |

Huh? Martin Sheen isn't in Underworld. But, he is in a Wall Street remake in 2010. And... Kate Beckinsale Vampires that wear rubber are hella better than vampires that twinkle and lost their comb. |

Yup, my bad, was supposed to be Michael Sheen, oops !! ![]() And Kate Beckinsale wrapped in a duvet, would be more sexy than most chicks in skimpy bikinis imho. |

Yeah I know. It really shows in this movie. About 80% of their arguments I could totally see house and wilson having. |

Zombieland. Haha ha. Funny gore movie. Not quite as funny as Shaun of the Dead, and they had some moments that showed less thinking that going to the Winchester. Lots of zombies and accompanying gore, but not overly graphic. They went with the movie being part of a narrative by Jesse which worked to expand the jokes and add in things like Zombie kill of the week. Gamer Better than I expected. Very bad movie for necks. The movie takes the idea of Second Life into actually controlling another person who has nanites in the head. Death Row inmates can then try to survive a death game where people can play them. This ranks higher than Zombieland on death count. |
