Angels and Demons

Varied from the book quite a bit but I can see why.  The story needed to be simplified in order to fit in.  The good guys were still the good guys and the bad guys still bad.

And Ewan ripped OFF HIS SHIRT!!!

:pinch: to be branded

I don't care. If you edit it just right, you can hours of Ewan ripping off his top. :violet:

Maiden Heist.
One of those perfect movies about helpless romantic old guys. Great comedy despite the fact that I was rooting for a bunch of thieves. Tame enough for all ages though meant for an older audience. It has a little bit of violence at the beginning and a couple shots of William Macy's butt. Nonetheless, it is one I immediately recommended to my parents which is a rarity.

Year One
A couple chuckles, but never a laugh.

It's Christmas!

Watched "Shorts" on pay perview at my ex hubby's home. That movie have James Spader and Jon Cryer in it. It was hilarious because of the way Jon Cryer's character and the actress' character as husband and wife was acting since they both were fused like siamese twins! :liz: It was the spell put on them from the rainbow glass stone. I won't say more if any of you not seen it. It is more of a family movie.

Hardwired.
Got this one just because it had Cuba Gooding and Val Kilmer. It wasn't a blockbuster, but nice little scifi flick. Opening scene with guy's head blowing up was not great, but the rest of the movie was less...Syfy. Movie was about an evil corporation that really is evil and experimenting with new adware healthcare, lol. They implant you with a device to overcome brain damage, but it has the ability to project advertisements in your head.

The opening montage of where they had put ads already was great. Trojan on the Washington Monument and Pepsi on the moon were my favorites.

Sunshine.

Scifi movie about an expedition to kick-start the sun, since it's apparently dying. Though not a lot of sunshine in the story either. ***

New Moon.

The acting (Robert Pattinson's and Kristen Stewart's) is one of the funniest things I've ever witnessed. Every one else did well.

And the soundtrack was awful.

Other than that, it was pretty good. Better than the first one. It followed the book more closely and had better CG. Better direction, hair, make up and costumes too.

The Princess & The Frog

The kids, well my girls at least, had really been looking forward to this movie. We got there early so we could sit in our favorite area and about 10 minutes later, all sorts of groups of girls started piling in. All ages, all colors and sizes, it was packed with lovers of Disney princess'.

One of the things I like in Disney films is references to other films. In this one we noticed Alladins magic carpet, Marie the kitten from The Aristocats, and the made one of the "bad" guys look like one of the characters from Enchanted.

The animation is beautiful, just gorgeous work. The songs are mostly good but there wasn't anything that grabbed me or had us singing in the car afterwards.

The story I give a B- while the moral of the story is an A. My girls said overall they'd give the movie an A-.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

OK, I dont know whether it was just not that good, or just somewhat slow-paced, or because I was up and on teh move the whole day since about 6:30 AM and didnt get to relax till after dinner was cooked and cleaned up after, but I couldnt manage to stay awake through this, and mom and the kids kept nudging me awake.

Might have been a combination of all the above, all I can say is that I missed quite a lot and will probably have to watch it again to get it all - Tragic ending notwithstanding, I didnt care for the way it ended either.

Four Christmases

Really enjoyed it. Just about every dysfunctional family is portrayed

The new terminator (can't remember what it's called :p )

It was fine. Couple interesting twists. I think I missed some plot details though the rest of the family wan't being very co-operative.

Taken

I'm a Liam Neeson fan, so it's kinda hard for me to critique any of his performances. But if you like action movies with a decent plot, then this one is for you. It's on HBO this month. And you'll note that he does all of his own stunts.

saw harry potter 6

well they left stuff out, as was to be expected. but when they add stuff and change things around (like it wasn't luna that found harry on the train, but tonks) or the attack on the wesley home, that annoys me. i annoyed my brother by pointing this stuff out. the first part of the 7th book takes place there, so do they rebuild or what?
the "dragon balls" comment amused me. and the "i am the chosen one" bit as well.
over all not a bad movie, but it was too dark for a PG rating. what was the rating board thinking?

i really want to re-read these books now.
maybe after the last one on the to-read pile :mojo:

Erin Brockovitch.

Yeah, I know, chick flick, yadda yadda yadda, had them thoughts too, which is why I never saw it. But was on Brit tv recently, and thought I should give it a look, before being judgemental, and am glad I did.

Julia Roberts is always worth watching, and in this role she excelled in my modest opinion. The single mom taking on the huge corporation and winning - not for herself but for others - seemed like a rather twee concept, but Roberts played the part with honesty that lifted it above the merely so-so, and if it didn't get any awards she was robbed !! *****

It was pretty awesome. Not as good as the hype built it up to be, but still very good. The story was a little cliched/predictable and the dialogue and character development could use a little work, but the acting was good and the visuals were AMAZING!

Powerful message too. A little propaganda-ish perhaps and it portrayed humans as complete assholes, but it was captivating and could really suck you into the avatar world.

Oh, and the 'Unobtainium' made me

Star Trek (2009)

Yes, I saw it at the theater when it opened. And I bought it in Blu-Ray. And I watched it twice today on DirecTV in 1080p. I loved it each time and it will always be one of my all-time favorite movies.
