BRUNO

Another Sascha Baron Cohen mockumentary about a Gay Fashion Reporter who wants desperately to be a celebrity in Hollywood. I laughed like hell because it was a lot like Borat. This movie, like Borat, is not for the kids. There's strong language and nudity in it.

Live long and prosper.....!!

Can't abide Sasha Baron Cohen, find him unfunny and arrogant. And Jim Carrey the same.

was half-watching the last boyscout the other day. (brother was watching it while i was on the computer)
it's not a bad movie. it has an interesting plot & comments about betting in football.

a warning though; if you rent it or watch it on cabel, there's a lot of cursing & violence. also some brief female nuidity

In The Shadow Of The Moon.

Documentary film about the moon landings which I had seen before but as this is a superior documentary (rather like Touching the Void), I decided to see it again. As before, I thought it was well done, though the interviews with the astronauts were always going to steal the show. *****

Funny People

Not quite what I was expecting but still pretty funny. I'm a big Seth Rogen fan so that helped. And normally I can't stand Adam Sandler, but I actually liked him in this. The only thing that caught me off guard was the overabundance of penis jokes. It got a little old after a while.

It is strange that they call there souls "demons" but they arent evil.

It's spelled "daemon". "Daemon" didn't originally mean the same thing as "demon" means today.

saw this on the netflix streaming thing. it turned out to be the extended version. with extended scenes & deleated ones added in. they weren't anything special IMHO. except one big reveal that i previously saw in the novelization.

Phenomenon

John Travolta as the hick who gets the gift of genius from some lights in the sky. Nothing really outstanding about this movie, but good to see Travolta in a role that doesn't require him to be a tough guy, and he played this role with excellent sensitivity, ably supported by the love interest (who's name I can't remember). This film was always going to run the way as expected, heartwarming. ****

Angels and Demons

Varied from the book quite a bit but I can see why. The story needed to be simplified in order to fit in. The good guys were still the good guys and the bad guys still bad.

Law Abiding Citizen

It was good, I guess. A bit suspensful with a simplistic ending. "Don't make deals with murderers". It has a couple of Trek alumn Colm Meaney(Miles O'Brien) and Bruce McGill (Captain Braxton "Relativity").
