WALL*E

This has got to be the cutest movie I have seen in ages. Most of you had already seen it months ago and it was on Starz today so I watched it. I had no idea it went down the path of a Dysutopia which is right up my alley. I loved it.

Benjamin Button.

Three hours. Nobody even cared to ask why it happened. Only part I thought was funny was the black lady who found old baby Benjamin told a doctor the baby was her sister's when the sister was sick. The baby got the worse of it and was born white.

Capitalism: a love story

Im not much for political movies/documentaries.. but I found this really interesting.
I usually think of Michael moore as a left wing nut job.. but he makes some great points, and I feel like I learned a lot about wall street. Im sure there is his share of propaganda in it.. but nothing struck me. I am not at all a left wing type person.. moderate with a slight lean to the right.. very slight, and I found this movie/documentary highly intriguing... and not longer look at MM as a left wing nut job.

Couples Retreat

I loved this movie! so much fun! There is alot of bickering going on in the movie... but thats what you get when you take a look into the life of most couples!
The Charcters on the island where great..
The ending was somewhat unrealistic.. but I liked it that way!

Coraline

Creepy stop-motion animation... This movie was really weird.. and creepy.
But I liked it!
I would consider it an artsy fartsy movie... and Im gonna watch in again tonight!

Ghost Rider.

This updated version with Nicholas Cage and Eva Mendes is far superior than the original version. If you don't know the story, the ghost rider is the devil's assistant, collecting the souls of the evil to burn in hell.
Effects-driven, the part where Cage's head bursts into flames is awesome, and for once his performance is somewhat subdued, rather than his usual flamboyant over-the-top acting style. Eva Mendes as the love-interest is little more than very atractive wallpaper, sadly.
All in all, a good film, worth watching again and again for all the little nuances and effects.

Wolverine.

They wanted it to be a prequel, but so much of it seemed to be more evolved than the other X-men episodes. It was just trying to be too grandiose. Gambit was a let down, Cyclops raised more questions than anything else. The movie itself was okay, basic story nothing exciting.

Ghosts of Girlfriends Past

Had some funny moments on his realization toward a meaningful relationship. But seriously, if you are holding a cake about to fall and nothing is immediately available, just call out for help.

monsters vs aliens

kids enjoyed it but I was a little disapointed. doesn't have the heart of the pizar films. Not that it isn't a funny little film. Just didn't live up to my expectations

Land of the lost

:pfft:

sets were beautiful but the film sucked. Will Ferrell even more than usual. And he is disturbing naked in HD.

Appaloosa

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0800308/

Western written, directed and staring Ed Harris. Typical wester story line but with a surprisingly complex relationship between the marshal, his deputy and a woman. Beautifully shot. The attention to detail was amazing. Well acted, well paced. Definitly worth watching.

Whip It

I was initially dubious, as I'm not really interested in sport, and I was worried Ellen Page's character would end up being too much like the one in Juno (ie, really annoying) but this ended up being a lot better than I thought it would be. The plot was pretty cliched and predictable, but it was still interesting and the characters were nicely written and portrayed. I also like that they didn't go for the unrealistic 'happy ending' of winning the match, everything being perfect between Bliss and her mother, and taking back Oliver.

The pool sex scene was just :wtf:

Went to see Paranormal Activity tonight...

This was the WORST movie i've seen in years... NOT scary, NOT entertaining and the only part that made me jump was the last few frames when the guy gets thrown against the camera. I almost fell asleep part way through it and i NEVER feel like falling asleep in movies.

Much like The Blair Witch Project they try to pass this crap off as real events.

I am so pissed off that i got suckered into watching this piece of garbage. And i thought The Blair Witch Project was bad. After watching this i was so mad that i paid good money to see something this bad, i can see why it only cost 12,000 dollars to make. All you ever see are the ocasion doors open and close, and some bumping noises... That's it that's all.

My recomendation

DON'T WAIST YOUR MONEY!!!

The Truman Show.

Saw this on tv recently. Now, i don't like Jim Carrey, his manic, over the top performances tend to leave me cold, and ready to switch channels. But, just occasionally, he makes movies that are inspired; The Mask for instance (manic and ott yes, but in character so it fits), and the Truman Show is another.

This movie works on so many levels it's hard to know where to start. The idea of the citizen feeling trapped and wanting to escape, well that's something we all feel from time to time. Or the State controlling our lives, likewise. An allegory of the power of corporations to rule virtually every aspect of our lives, to their own design. You name it, chances are it fits.

One of the best films I've seen in a long time, and one I'll watch over and over. *****

REBECCA (1940)

I fell asleep towards the end but I already knew what happend because the ending happend first. It wasn't boring, I liked it and if I could find it again I'd watch it again, when I am less fatigued. The whole thing is black and white and producers were the same people that did Gone With The Wind -David O Selznick(sp). I've seen so many parodies of this film that when I saw it on FMC the other night I thought to tune in.

Anyways It's about this woman (they never say her name) who meets this man Maxim on Holiday. She's pretty, young, naive, a little inept and clumsy but the two seem to hit it off and eventually get married. Now this marriage takes place less than a year after his first wife dies under mysterious circumstances. They have a wonderful honeymoon but when he brings her back to his manor, things turn different.

Maxim is cold, moody and distant. The staff doesn't really like the new Mrs. De Winters, especially the head servant Mrs.Danvers. Danvers has a heavy obession with the first Mrs. De Winters (Rebecca!!), so strange that she preseves Rebecca's bedroom and even idolizes her underwear. There's even a dog that sits outside of Rebecca's bedroom, At first it's meant to intimidate people from going in there but come on it's Springer Spaniel.(One of the friendliest dog breeds I have ever known!)

After a strange series of events, you'd think that it was Maxim that has this obsession with the preservation of his first wife's memory until he reveals an astounding secret.

Like I said the ending happens at the begining, it's the series of events that follows that makes this film real watchable.

I enjoyed it. Nice little coming of age type movie. The people looked like real people which is always a breath of fresh air.

Battlestar Galactica: The Plan

Very cool movie. It was interesting to see past events from different angles and from a decidedly Cylon perspective. In particular, the movie is really told through the eyes of One/Cavil. Cavil is easily the my favorite of the Cylons, and Dean Stockwell is such an underrated actor IMO. I wouldn't recommend watching the movie unless you've seen the whole series, but BSG fans should really enjoy it.

Oh and as a surprising bonus, there is a fair amount of female nudity.

Oh, really. (Note to self, get movie asap).

Blade: Trinity.

The third of the Blade series, and easily one of the best imho, though Wesley Snipes invariably gives a note-worthy performance whatever movie he's in. It was interesting to see Kris Kristofferson reprising his role as a trucker in this movie, which reminds me I haven't seen Convoy for a long while. As a neck-biting vampire movie, it had a few interesting moments, though lacking in the shocks dept. If ya need something to pass an entertaining coupla hours, ya could do worse. ****

The Proposal.
They wanted to kick a Canadian out of the US. So Sandra Bullock intimidates Cook into marrying her until the inevitable. They go to Alaska which frankly gave enough scenery to make the movie worth it, but plenty of funny parts too. I enjoyed it.

Killing Room.
Wha? Government project to develop suicide bombers by killing citizens who we supposedly want to stop the suicide bombers from killing. Reminiscent of Cube, but with more insight into the people actually planning things. Not overly excited about the movie, but they've set it up for the second level sequel.

GI Joe

Meh. About what you'd expect. Basic comic book/superhero-esque action thriller. I don't think it was as bad as the reviews said, but it wasn't that good either. One of the biggest problems IMO were the leads. I just couldn't buy into Channing Tatum and Marlon Wayans. On the other hand, Joseph Gordon-Levitt was kinda cool as Cobra Commander. All in all, not something I'd buy but worth the one viewing.

The Taking of Pelham 123

Another formulaic hostage thriller, so if you've seen one you've seen them all. That being said, I thought it was still an engaging movie for the interplay between Denzel Washington and John Travolta. I enjoyed it, and I think it's worth a look.

this was always the scariest movie I'd ever seen. In fact I stopped watching horror movies after seeing it.

It was lame
