I wonder how many people went into that movie expecting it to be a lighthearted comedy... :mojo: I had read an article about the book quite a while back and I knew I wouldn't see the movie....I don't do well with things like that either. :crying:

I've read the book, and the opening is very light hearted.

It's the end that gets me. :(

I still wanna see the movie.

I just saw Valkyrie.....I really liked it. I thought it was very well done. I'm not a Tom Cruise fan at all, but I was able to look past him and see the character. I recommend it.

Well thats encouraging to hear because I'd been looking forward to this movie but then I saw in a review that Cruise's performance ruined the movie.

You know, it really depends....I mean I understand how someone could say that. When an actor has a certain odd personality or infamy in real life it sometimes affects how people see him or her in a movie (I assume that is maybe what ruined it for some). Like I say, I don't like Cruise, but I really wanted to see this movie and like it, so I just focused on other things. I had seen a tv special on the real life plots to kill Hitler and the conspirators and so I was thinking about the real people asw I watched the movie. But I will say that Cruise did nothing to help the movie.

Good points. I've actually got that special saved on my DVR but I haven't watched it. You enjoyed it?

Yes, it was really informative. I had no idea so many high ranking Nazi officials were opposed to Hitler's ideas and actually plotting to kill him. It really explains everything and the movie means more after you've watched the special.
But also I lived in Germany from 2005-2007 and I was in Berlin and Munich this past summer, so maybe it's just really interesting for me because of that connection.
:D

I actually just watched it and I too found it very informative. It’s certainly a story I’ve never heard before. I wonder why it is that we are only acknowledging these people now. I mean that was apart of this world’s history. An important part. These men were willing to die for what they believed in!

I just watched The Express starring Dennis Quaid and Rob Brown. It's about former star Syracuse University running back Ernie Davis who died in 1963 at the age of 23 from leukemia. It wasn't bad. I thought they did a nice job capturing the football action and more importantly the racial tensions of that time.

I went and saw Marley and Me starring Owen Wilson and Jennifer Aniston with my mom and sister tonight. It was all right; Owen Wilson pretty much kept it going for me. But man...the ending was SAD. Even I was tearing up. :crying:

Just like Old Yeller. :(

I just don't do well with pet movies like this :(

Me either...as a rule I stay away from them.

they are always tear jerkers.

i watched "monster in law" it was your adverge chick flick. funny but not alot of substance.

but what I want to know is.. where are JLOs parents in this movie?? they are never even mentioned!

(sorry no spell check right now)

Swing Vote was the latest movie for me. It's about this redneck guy, played by Kevin Costner, who ends up being the deciding vote in the U.S. presidential election. Kelsey Grammar and Dennis Hopper play the two presidential candidates. Putting all realism aside, I had extremely low expectations for this movie so I can say that it was better than I thought. Coster was nothing special really and I don't know what it is but I just cannot see Dennis Hopper playing the president or a presidential candidate. The one bright spot in this movie was Costner's daughter. The girl that played her did extremely well.

saw two movies on the weekend

Zohan.

not even sure if that's the name. Was expecting absolutely nothing out of this movie but it wasn't all that bad. Couple of laughs.

Grand Torino

Just a beautiful movie. Clint Eastwood plays a Korean war vet with the usual prejudices associated with that title and age group. His neighbourhood has become populated mostly by asians and he is not happy about that. Against his will he becomes friendly with the sassy teenage girl next door and then with her entire family. He becomes especially close to her teenage brother offering him an alternative to the gang life that he is begining to consider. Forced to re evaluate his own misconceptions about his neighbours he realizes that they understand him and respect him more than his own family does. In the process he is able to save a family and a boy in need of saving and atone for an event in Korea that has haunted him his entire life.

Excellent!! One of the best movies to be released in late 2008/Early 2009. It's a great parable. Clint Eastwood's character got that boy to come out of his shell and gave him a better direction in life. It's very bittersweet.

Boring!!! I wasn't the one paying but I wouldn't have paid to go and see it myself. Don't get me wrong it was a good movie but not my taste in movies. It a conspiracy thriller and it really didn't get good unitl the plan was being put into action.

Paul Blart: mall cop

I laughed my ass off!
some parts of it were really silly.. but the funny parts were laugh out loud funny!
You really feel for the main character in this movie...
Its your basic slap stick comedy.. which I don't normally like, but Kevin James is so funny in slap stick.

Max Payne starring Mark Wahlberg and Mila Kunis. This movie is based off of a video game of the same name. The game was awesome and incredibly fun to play but this movie was just dumb and confusing. They jumped all around from one thing to the next without any explanation. To make matters worse, the movie barely follows the plot from the game and it's much worse off as a result.

Bride Wars

Anne Hathaway, Kate Hudson, Candice Bergen

This was "cute" movie, with some really funny parts, the kids and I had a great time watching this over the weekend. AH and KH play childhood friends who get engaged at the same time, and have always dreamed of having a June wedding at the Plaza. A mistake with the booking happens, and no holds barred fights to win the "date".

I have to say that everyone was waaaaaaaaay too skinny in this movie. I used to think Anne Hathaway was beautiful but she's lost so much weight her face has lost that "snow white" beauty she had and is now gaunt and hard.

EEk :afraid: What the hell was I thinking? Pretty decent horror movie. And the logic held up right through to the end. How many times do you watch a horror movie then think, that didn't make any sense at all.

and it had a creepy, but good ending.

also watched Waterboy. Never seen that before. It was mildly amusing. And the kids liked it.

Valkyrie: Really good apart from having Tom Cruise in it.

And the fact that all the Germans had American accents was kinda distracting and irritating.

And it was sad. Made me cry at the end. :crying:
