The Santa Clause

I've never seen this. Don't think I'll see it again

It was kind of a mishmash. Took way too long setting up the story. It would have worked better without the slapstick teenage humour that Ben Stiller is known for. The took moments that should have been shocking and made them just gross. Robert Downey junior is great in it though. And Tom Cruise in brilliant though almost unrecognizable.

Pretty Woman

I loved it. Superduper amazing, though certain scenes a little awkward to watch with parents. :violet: I love Richard Gere. And Julia Roberts. And them together. :D

Twilight

It was ok. Too many steamy stares and not enough good acting for my taste.

Randomer than you since 1992

^My thoughts exactly for Twilight. Nowhere near as good as the book, it deviated too much. It wasn't bad though.

Quantum of Solace. Tolerable. Too many unbelievable action scenes though. And the story wasn't great either. I kept waiting for something to happen but it was all car chases, explosions and punch-ups. I also don't really like Daniel Craig. It was crap compared to the older ones.

did a "sword & sorcery" fest in the past 2 days.

conan the barbarian:
started the sword & sorcery trend in the '80s
one of schwarzenegger's early works where he
said less than 30 words in the whole movie.
if you've only seen it on TV like i have,
beware of a lot of blood, some nudity
and sex-type scenes.
not a bad movie, not great either.
good for escapism
the makeing of thing said they
planed on 3, but only did 2

conan the destroyer:
schwarzenegger had more lines in the first
5 min. than he did in the last one.
not as interesting as the last one IMHO.
less blood & nudity and no sex.
the monster at the end is icky though.
worth watching.

red sonja:
bad. just bad. brigitte nielsen can't
act & only got the part because she was
sleeping with sly stallone at the time.
schwarzenegger is in it, but not
as conan although the story apparently takes
place in the same "universe." ernie reyes jr.
is thrown in as a pint-sized prince with a comic
relief body guard.
not worth it, unless you have nothing else to watch.
the upcoming remake doesn seem much better IMHO

I just watched Charlie and the Chocolate Factory with Johnny Depp. I didn't like it. I can't really think of anything that wasn't worse in this version when compared to the Gene Wilder version. I like Depp a lot but Wilder makes a much better Willy Wonka IMO. And 90% of the time I couldn't even understand the new Oompa Loompas so that was no good either. The only thing that was probably better this time was Charlie. The young kid who plays him, Freddie Highmore, is a really good actor for his age.

That's for sure! The previous Charlie was pretty awful. But did you know that he's now a veterinarian? Dr. Peter Ostrum treats large farm animals in upstate NY. Interesting, huh? No? Ok, then. :P

No way! I didn't know that. Good for him.

Just finished Wanted. Not sure if there has ever been a movie meant to depress more normal people to get them to try to do things that will leave them dead. It did have some cool effects, most of which were shown in the trailers. But a magic weave that speaks binary pushed the suspension of disbelief over the edge.

What they did to Marc warren, the Repairman, was shockingly gruesome.

saw Fred Clause last night. Thought it was a great christmas movie. Just as good as elf. Though you get to look at Vince Vaughn instead of that creepy Will Farrell. definitely recommend it.

And The Baker. One of those quirky british films that makes it look like britain has nothing but lunatics and quirky freaks. Has a really fun love scene in it that was worth the price but not much else. :whoop:

I just watched The House Bunny a little bit ago. About as dumb as it looks and the "scenery" only takes you so far.

Certainly they know that the scenery brings in a good chunk of their traffic. Why can't they figure out how to deliver better?

Watched X-Files. It was slow but a good X-Files story without having to rely on aliens. It would have been nice if they had some connection with the story they left open for this movie during the first season, but it probably would have been lost in the movie.

Eh I dunno. It was a lot of dumb humor but I guess it had a cute quality to it on some level. You may want to give it a shot just for the heck of it.

I thought it was crap last year, so I thought to give it another chance. Wrong!!! It still was crap. Even though MENSA raved it for it's great dialogue, I'll give it just that but it lacked emotion. The girl does break down and cry and junk but to me it was no better than a movie on Lifetime with Fraiser/Gilmore Girls type dialogue. Damn boredom!

The GamePlan

It was very disneyish but I thought it was cute and I love the Rock!!! I liked it. Especially this one part where he was complaining about how his daugther took over his dog, his bed and his weight room "Is anything sacred???" speech and it reminded me of something my mother use to say to us while we were growing up. I'd watch it again, when the godkids come over.

SCARFACE

I :plt: this movie. Michelle Pfieiffer is beautiful, even though she plays a coke head in the film. I liked his Mama even though she was in a few scenes because she believed in hard work and working for a living without resorting to what he was doing. I felt bad for her in the end because she lost both her kids. It's amazing how someone like Tony Montana scrapes himself up from dirt nothing, builds up an drug empire and it all comes crashing down in the end. I suppose "The World is Yours" but how are you willing to get it.

I just finished watching Eagle Eye. It's a predictable story that's been done many times before but it's still fun to watch and I like Shia LaBeouf.

I like Shia LaBeouf.

I like saying his name. When we watch a movie with him in it we say it over and over again

We went to see The Day the Earth Stood Still last night. I liked it. I normally can't stand Keanu Reeves because he sounds so corny, but since he was playing a strange alien it worked. I love Jennifer Connelly, so that helped too.

I just watched Pineapple Express with Seth Rogen and James Franco. Very funny movie. I'm convinced more than ever that I'll watch anything with Rogen in it.
