Today my son and I went to go see Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

After getting through the first battle, I really enjoyed it.

There's no real strong questionable content, such as sexual situations and swearing, it's just the violence.

Just watched Reservation Road, with Joaquin Phoenix, & Jennifer Connelly

Ok, so this is an excellent film, possibly one of Joaquin Phoenix's best performances ever. The director, Terry George, also the director of Hotel Rwanda, another brilliant film, takes what I'd call the most intimate, authentic, & gripping approach to a heart breaking tragic drama that anyone ever has. It takes guts to make this movie

Every performance in this film is spot on, & you never lose interest for a split second

Having said all that, I will now warn that this film is about the hit & run death of a child, & there is no way to truly express how overwhelmingly excruciating it is to watch the perfectly true to life depiction of the grueling effects something like this has on people

It made me sadder than just about any film I have ever seen, & there is no escape or reprieve from that, nor would there be, nor should there be

The only thing I have to wonder, is how on Earth people would be willing to make a movie like this. Just because a movie is excellent in every way, does not mean that people will be able to sit there & take the abuse of watching this, least of all if they have children of their own, which most people do :(

Perhaps it's one of those films that the director felt had to be made to tell a story, rather than be for entertainment. There are a few movies I have seen that were excellent, but that I would never want to watch again. It's not escapism; it is closer to reality than, well, reality tv.

Mystic River was just as good, & just as sad, in some ways, but it didn't leave me feeling so completely bummed

I suppose that is because Reservation Road is more straight forewardly reality based, & the overall point behind the film was that no one should leave feeling anything but shitty

I recently watched Ever Since the World Ended. It's about two filmmakers who set out with a video camera to document their travels thru San Francisco roughly twelve years after a plague struck the earth killing almost everyone on it. They’re interviews with survivor’s reveal what’s left of humanity in a sort of moral chaos. It’s a fascinating, brilliantly acted, scripted and perhaps prophetic film. Rent it.

It is a NetFlix movie that must have been sitting here at least a month. I heard such great things about it. When it started I thought..."Uh Ohh..this must be one of those generational gap movies. I did like it though. I loved the lead guy and gal. It was a very heartfelt movie about finally putting pain to rest...and, being able to move forward in your life. I guess we can all relate to this in varying degree's.

The Dark Knight.

Sean/HRH had told me it was a masterpiece.

I found it to be overly long, but good. Heath Ledger is the best Joker ever.

I must say that he made the Joker a much more realistic kind of character than ever before

It didn't come of like a shtick. It came off like a genuine psychological disorder, to his credit

On vacation I watched Gone, Baby, Gone...and, The KiteRunner.

Gone, Baby, Gone was an interesting premise. I don't believe cops would get all that involved in saving souls. The main character struggled with antaganism...he had to make a choice at the end of the film. I hated his choice. I can't believe that choice tested well with American audiences. Though...his choice certainly was law abiding. It was wrong. He really fucked up! It is pissing me off thinking about it. :wissa:

KiteRunner.....Read the book first. The book was so much more emotional as the characterizations unfolded. The movie is very good. The characters are just a bit two dimensional if you have read the book. I think the book should be read though. I really enjoyed the directors & writers comments in the special features section!
