how had I never heard of this movie... so many big stars..

I guess its cause it shows heath leadger hanging like a dead guy.. and it was one of his last movies...if not the actual last movie..

it was fun to watch
I think Ledger died during it, & all the big stars (Depp, Law & Ferrell) signed on so the project could be finished. I only found it marginal

Life of Pi, which I've just seen however, is really good :)

watched done the impossible today.
it's a documentary about how the fans of firefly got a movie made.
it's better than most of the lower-budget documentaries i've seen.

watched ironman 3 last night. I liked how they used the avengers movie and the low tech approach. It was an interesting twist I wasn't expecting.

and watched Redemption (hummingbird) It was actually mr. boo's suggestion. Bless his little heart. I came home from work and he said there was a new Jason Statham movie on. I enjoyed it, but it was sad. Not the ending you want

The Internship more of the same from Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson. Same characters they always play and the same plot. But still, kinda fun

The Lone Ranger  I'm not even sure what that was.

Pacific Rim - I thought it was good live action Anime. Lot's of fun. Nothing to take too seriously. The movie was long but managed not to drag for me.

Never go by Rotten Tomatoes, or those, "expert" reviews. Most of those people are so pretentious that George Clooney could suffer a bout of diarreah on film and they'd think it was art. One of the comments I read was, "At one point in time I would have liked this movie, then I turned 12." Well asshole, I'm sorry it's not Schindler's List meets Solaris. It shouldn't bother me what other people think of movies that I have no stake in, except... People like that divert others from enjoying movies and movies like that don't get made. It's just irritating.

Dracula - TV show on... CBS... I think. Good show. New twist on the vampire genera. I highly recommend.

Favorite shows this fall season.

1. Sleepy Hollow
2. Revolution
3. Brooklyn 99
4. Dracula
5. Grimm
6. Shark Tank

All, highly recommended.

World War Z - Four thumbs up in this house. Not even nearly as graphic as Grimm. Lots of fun. Fast zombies kick the shit out of Slow Zombies.

Oblivion - Yes, he's crazy, but I really like Tom Cruise as an actor. I thought this movie was very good. There's no surprise in the movie, you should be able to figure out the "twist" within the first five minutes of the movie, but that wasn't a deterrent for me as the quality of the movie makes up for that. This is a solid good sci-fi.

The movie is over two hours long, so make sure you pee before hand.

The visuals were stunning and gorgeous (not talking about the redhead). I honestly, want my house to look like that.

Strangely, the overall feel of the move, for me, was slightly erotic if not ethereal.

I mean, who wouldn't want to take a midnight dip, in a glass pool above the clouds like that...with her.

The soundtrack of this movie is amazing too. I loved the closing music.

Les Miserables (2012)

Watching this right now. Trying to get through it all. The singing is quite unbearable. Russell Crowe should never sing in anything... ever... for the rest of his life... again... ever

The bad singing is taking me out of the production

Gravity (3D)

As overwhelming as the visual FX are in this movie, the story is as underwhelming and rather cheaply unrealistic. The latter would normally be forgivable in a sci-fi, unless that sci-fi passes itself of as being true to life, which this kind of does, and is why physicist Neil Degrasse-Tyson came down on it, as is his habit in such cases

Don't get me wrong. It's a decent movie, and the performances are pretty good. Bullock at 49 is still fairly doggone hot, and Clooney is charming as usual. I'd actually recommend seeing it in as high quality a showing as possible (3D, Imax, whatever) because that's the selling point for sure. However, anything else that one would come to expect from a movie is exceedingly thin.

Credit where it's due though. They didn't mess up all the science stuff. They got some stuff right. Some would say enough, or at least as much as Hollywood ever gets right. So, I can see how some viewers would be disappointed in the picture, and some not. For me it was... Mildly entertaining, yet ultimately forgetable fare

The more abstract stuff about orbital mechanics etc didn't really matter to me. The film got across what it would feel like to be an astronaut very well.

I don't harp on the heavier science stuff either, and yeah, they gave you a viable feel for existence in space well enough. I just felt the story was a bit thin

One thing caused me to chuckle out loud though

Saw Hunger Games Catching Fire a week or so ago & though it was a little slow to start with, it was a really good film. I feel like this one is setting up for the next one -Mockingjay.

I will say the ending drove me crazy - I hate cliffhangers & so am going to be reading the books so I know what happens next!

I'll be honest, I was very unsure whether the books or the films would be my kinda thing but I'm glad I gave them a chance & Jennifer Lawrence is just brilliant!

Into the White

A period drama about a German and British aviators that shoot each other down over the frozen reaches of Norway and how they ultimately must work together in order to survive. I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. It takes on an aspect of war that brings you to the realization that, in general, the people who are actually fighting most wars, don't have a personal dog in the fight. If you like this you may also like Joyeux Noel.

Holes

Very fun family movie about a young boy and his family's curse. The boy (Shia Lebouf) is sent to a juvinile work camp after he's fingered for stealing some shoes, along the way he makes friends and we as an audience learn more about the history of several families involved. The movie is almost a bit fantastical and has interesting plot twists (that are somewhat telegraphed but interesting none-the-less). I'm not usually a fan of non-animated family movies (Beethoven, Baby's Day Out, Baby Geniuses etc) as they are so very corny. This was done well. Very funny, engaging and lots of fun.
