Live long and prosper.....!!

X2, the back-stories and whos' who etc were all done in the first movie, so in this one the scriptwriters could just concentrate on making it interesting, and fun !!

Been wanting to see this for ages, finally I did. Nice follow-up to the original movie, though the story is a bit confusing at times, but plenty of action, and Heath Ledger as the Joker camps it up to the max. Great movie, enjoyed it and looking forward to the next !! *****

I saw the Total Recall remake a week or two ago, and I wasn't impressed. It was an ok movie, but nothing really special. I've never seen the original, so now I'd like to go find it and watch it.

Watched "This Means War" last night - not what you think at all, which is why it took me so long to decide to watch it!

It's basically Bride Wars with Federal Agents & all the undercover equipment they would ever need!

I really liked it & it's quite funny in parts. It's not your average Rom Com at all, since the guys are agents, you get the action that goes with that as there's two storylines going on really - they are working on a case, while both trying to win the girl, played by Reese Witherspoon.

The guys are played Trek actors Tom Hardy & Chris Pine - yeah I spent most of the film swooning over Chris!

But I really did enjoy this film & would recommend it if the girls are wanting a movie night but want something to keep the guys happy too. :)

I also saw a very girly film, Dredd 3D (although it wasn't in 3D when I watched it). If you like SHOOTING and AWESOMENESS it's absolutely unmissable. One of the best new action films i've seen in a long long time.

Bit of a confusing plot to try and follow, but plenty of action to make up for that, and a swarm of 'self-replicating spiders' kept showing up to give them something to do. Kinda hoopy seeing Tea'lc a bit younger (and thinner) than he is in the series. Overall, not a bad way to pass a coupla hours !! ****

watched the hangover 2 last night. Didn't think it was bad. If fact the fact that it was exactly the same plot was kinda amusing.

one problem with that is they crammed in everything
they wanted to deal with in an 11th season (which they
were expecting to do when sci-fi pulled the plug) into
a 2-hour (or so) movie. so a lot of stuff got short-changed.

The wife and I watched The Bourne Legacy last night. Would have made a good two-hour tv series premiere, but as a stand alone movie, it left much to be desired. When it ended, we both looked at each other and said "Surely that's not it?!" because it felt like it ended in the middle of the story, which was kind of a confusing story to begin with. Jeremy Renner was good in it, but the woman he was saddled with wasn't much, and Ed Norton really served no purpose whatsoever to the story except for spending the whole movie tracking Renner's character. All in all, it had potential, but it dropped the ball. Seemed like a very ham-handed way to try and wring some more money out of the Bourne series. Hope there's not a sequel or that the sequel is better.

This^

It also seemed like the skeletal remains of whatever Jason Bourne story they had planned to do next, before Greengrass & Damon dropped out, & then it was tossed up on the chopping block & mutilated into something that could make some semblance of sense without the title character being in it

The whole thing reeks of bastardization

It did indeed. And, really, they said and used the name so much that the movie was really still about Jason Bourne. It never really felt like it was about Jeremy Renner and the woman. All anyone said was Bourne this and Bourne that and what's going to happen if Bourne.....? I thought Jeremy Renner did a good job, but how can you make a movie your own when you're living in the shadow of another character?

And, it actually did kind of make sense as a story, but it felt so incomplete and thrown together. I'd hate to put all my time and effort into making something like that and then seeing the finished product and it suck so bad. Maybe there'll be a director's cut that will redeem it somehow.

Not seen it, but can imagine that the Bourne Legacy (as JK describes it), would be like a Bond movie with 006 Fred Bloggs taking the lead - it's LIKE the originals, but nowhere near as good !!

Randomer than you since 1992

The Invasion

I didn't expect it to be as good as it was, because I really don't like Daniel Craig and it's a story that's been done a thousand times, but it was entertaining. And they actually explained things (reasonably) for once! I hate movies that don't explain where some disease or alien invasion came from.

Moulin Rouge

I still can't work out what to think of it. I liked it, but there were so many weird directing and editing decisions, particularly at the start that, well I just really wanna know what they were on when they decided to do them. And of course, the ending is quite the downer, even though you know it's going to happen.

Ocean's 11 and Ocean's 12

I really liked the first one, the second was disappointing.
