Heavy Metal. Been meaning to watch this for a few years. Didn't realize most of the voices were from Second City cast.

Bruce Dern plays an eco-astronaut aboard a spacecraft carrying earth's remaining natural habitats (forests, deserts etc) within domes. But when the order comes through to jettison and destroy the domes, he decides to get rid of the crew and preserve 'his' forest, with the help of robots. One of the best scenes - Dern and the robots are playing poker, with the robots blatantly cheating. A good movie, and Dern is excellent !! *****

under the boardwalk: the monopoly story

a documentary about the history of the game.
interesting, but could've been done better

into the arms of strangers: stories of the kindertransport

a documentary about jewish children being sent to england just before the outbreak of WW2
i recommend having tissue handy before watching this. especially if you're a parent.
i was tearing up thinking about what i would do if i was a parent in that situation and that
was before i started watching it.

I saw Prometheus last night....

I liked it. Although I picked it apart alot.

a team wakes up after two years of hyper sleep or whatever.. none of them know how to work together.. no training. no one knows the real agenda..
they do really stupid stuff.... and you dont feel sorry for most of them when they die cause they did completely dumb stuff.
followed that up with Alien and Aliens... they are the same way..
must be series thingy
All my posts are done from my tablet. I apologize for all strange errors in my posts... as swype hates me. :violet:

A bunch of humans parachute onto a world controlled by Predators, and they must learn to work together if they are to survive - but is one of them working FOR the Predators....?? Adrian Brody leads a cast of mis-matched people through the dense jungle undergrowth while they're being hunted. Laurence Fishburn has a small and relatively throw-away part in keeping them on the right path, but the largely-unknown cast do a good job !! ****

X-Men; First Class.

Brilliant movie, I found it quite fascinating in parts. For some unexplainable reason, the X-Men movies passed me by, I loved the cartoon as a kid, I used to watch it every Saturday morning but when the movies came out, I just didn't get to see them.

I've found all five as a box set & I'm thinking of getting them - are they worth it?

Oh & I'm a little bit in love with James MacAvoy now (yes even British girls swoon over British accents now & then)

The Expendables 2
It was a fun movie. Action just for the sake of action. Liam Hemsworth was the only character that didn't come off as a cartoon. But the cast is virtually a who's who of action movies. They know that is why they are there and the script is full of sill references to each other's movies. Fun to watch but don't expect it to ivoke any thought.

I liked this. You could see the end coming a mile away, but it didn't matter. The ride was still interesting, & the performances are very good, especially Gordon-Levitt's understated Bruce Willis imitation. You can hardly recognize anything of himself in there, & he really does channel Bruce a lot. There's a particular scene where he's hiding behind a couch, & tosses out a "WTF?" look that is straight out of the Bruce Willis toolbox

I would have liked to have seen more story on Paul Dano's character. They could have gotten Thomas Haden Church to play the older version of him. In fact, at first I thought it was him

It's not perfect. Like any other time travel movie, it's got plot holes & such, but none of it drags the movie down, which is all you can ask really

But now I'm noticing that this poster has it backwards. It shouldn't be "Hunted by your future. Haunted by your past" because the guy in the past hunts the guy from the future

The other poster I saw is better. It just says "Face Your Future. Fight your past" That's more correct

The basic concept was good and it was done well but I didn't like the Emily Blunt storyline much.

Levitt is in everything lately. I haven't seen him in years since 3rd Rock ended and then all of a sudden he's everywhere. Weird.

It seems that way this year, with Dark Knight, Premium Rush, Looper & now Lincoln, but the truth is that all along he's worked rather prolifically in the independent film scene, ever since the show ended

Either he's pursuing more mainstream work (Ever since Inception, & that cancer comedy with Seth Rogan) or it's an odd coincidence that Indy directors who he's worked with are recently beginning to get more notoriety, & Levitt is subsequently landing in the mainstream more

Dark Knight & Inception are both Chris Nolan's films, who has roots in Indy films. Looper is a Rian Johnson film, who's worked with Levitt before on an Indy project. Looper is kind of an Indy film itself. Levitt actually has an executive producer credit on it, & Premium Rush has Indy film written all over it

Showing up in Spielberg's Lincoln is really the only inexplicable mainstream appearance from him, & like I said. Maybe he's heading that direction now, but I doubt it. He'll end up doing plenty more films that never make a big splash, & the majority of his mainstream appearances will be in small supporting roles

In fact, the only future production showing up on his imdb page, is an Indy film with him & Scarlett Johansson, that he wrote & directed himself

Frankly, he's doing it intelligently. Choosing to be an actor first before trying to be a movie star

x-men, was better than x-men: 2, which was better than number 3.
IMHO.

if you can rent or watch them on tv or something first
so you can see what you think of them before you buy.

I like films that make me think so I'm thinking I may like X2.

They shouldn't actually cost me anything as I can use my nectar points to get them if I decide I want them.
