so I've seen two decent movies this week

Finally took the boys out to see Pirates 3 this week. It was a little long, but it didn't drag at all. My youngest spent the whole last 45 minutes saying "is it over yet!! All in all I thought it was a great movie. Enjoyed it more than the second and just as much as the first. Started off with some rousing fight scenes and never really slowed down. Could have done without the Jack hallucinations. There were a couple deaths that I wasn't too wild about, but I have to say they both added to the over all plot and weren't just for effect. The end was bittersweet.

over all

Rented Zodiac last night. It was a very long movie. looooong... but not bad. Kind of unsatisfying though because the killer has never been found. And the case they made for the authors suspect wasn't really that conclusive.

Transformers. Awesome. Effects were great. Girl had great eyes. Plenty of action. Acting was not bad even from 20 foot robots. Had some humorous characters tthrown in. Only thing I didn't like was having an Australian in the NSA and trying to pass her off as straight out of high school. SoD telling her to work on her brain mouth filter was worth it though.

300 is queued up next. I don't have high hopes, but we will see in a few hours.

I'm with Rab across the board on this one. I want to see "300" and Transformers was the most fun I've had at a movie theater in some time. The humor in the show came as a pleasant surprise. I was LOL!

I also got a bit misty when Optimus appeared. It was a touching moment IMO. I always liked him in the original cartoon as well as BumbleBee.

The last movie in theater I saw Eragon, it was really good. On DVD, I last watched Star Wars: Attack of the Clones. I have two borrow DVD from my ex which I will watch soon of "Norbit" and "Beowulf and Grendel."

I got to watch both movies, Norbit was okay, some weird and crazy! Beowulf and Grendal is okay too, I prefer the other Beowulf movie better than this one.

Beowulf and Grendel was great... almost as interesting is the shoestring budget the producers had to deal with and a harsh timeline that saw the production attempting to outrun a freezing Greenland winter... they didn't make it. Oh, and the cast nearly drowned during the sailing of the "authentic" Viking ship they were aboard!

There's a documentary about the "Making of" wherein was contained the above info.

I like the other Beowulf movie that starred Chris Bruno(he was before on Dead Zone as Sheriff Bannerman) as Beowulf. The one I saw was starred by Gerard Butler who played Beowulf. It was okay, they had the language which was not right, don't fit for that time era, I don't think they use foul language back then like we do now. :wissa:

last weekend we watched Astronaut Farmer. It wasn't bad. Kinda slow though. I rented it for the kids and they took off and started playing soccer in the back yard after about 15 minutes.

Slow burn- Starring T'pol

now I planned to say "did anyone else not know she was black?" but part of the main plot points in the movie was that she the question of if she was black or just pretending to be black. So I still don't know the answer to the question  The movie was starring Ray Liotta so I was hoping for better. He was great. But the movie was so convoluted I really don't know what happened. And T'pol was kinda unemotional. Vulcan like you might say.

Quite right about Slow Burn. When I was watching it, I couldn't help but think "and how blind is the black guy to think Jolene was black?"

300 was a lot better than I was expecting. I thought it would mostly be battles, but the story line was very good.

Last night, I watched Hot Fuzz. Funny movie. I just wish I had watched Point Break or Bad Boys II more recently as they were each given quite a montage.

Hot Fuzz was brilliantly conceived and executed!

Transposing the high-octane explosive Hollywood blockbuster action film with all the cliche's in tact to a sleepy English village setting worked extremely well.

I loved it.

Me in 10 years^^^

The last movie that I saw was "Rush Hour 3".
If you've seen one of them, you've seen them all.
But it's still a good show. Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker are hilarious as usual.
Make sure that you stick around for the bloopers reel at the end during the closing credits.

I have seen 1 and 2 but want to see the 3rd Rush Hour. I like Jackie Chan, he makes me laugh and he is very good at marital arts. Have seen his other movies, too. I have seen Shanghai Noon, it was sooo funny that I really laughed off my seat.
