Hi all :)

I thought I'd start a thread on classic books and storries we loved as kidlets...
Here's two of my faves...

Of course, Dr. Dolittle was a whole series of books and I read them all.

Homer Price told the adventures of a young boy who ran into all sorts of interesting situations.

The Dolittle books are charmingly English to the extreme. The Homer Price Books.. I think there were only 2 or 3 of them were distinctly American in sensibility.

I loved them both.

I loved the Little House books when I was a kid. Read them over and over again.

Never liked the tv show though. It wasn't the same as what was in my head and didn't follow the books.

Hmmm, don't rightly recall reading "kids" books when I was little. I was reading 1984 and Frankenstein when I was like 9 or 10 years old. Before that I used to devour technical manuals and old sci-fi comics.

Use to read "the Little House on the Prarie" books, in fact, I have three of them here in my home. Also read "Curious George" the cute chimp story. The Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew mysteries. A lot of biographies of famous people of long ago. Encyclopedia Brown, the boy sleuth.

My favourite book as a child was "The Brambley Hedge Stories" It was about different families of mice and their lives in the Hedgerows. The book I had was the Stories about the four Seasons - one story for each season - Spring, Summer, Autumn (fall) & Winter. It's a completely British and asbolutely beautiful book, the illustrations in it are amazing!

I still have the book and will treasure it forever. :)

I remember saving my money up to buy 'Trek novels. Used to get them at a little bookstore in town. Run by the nicest elderly woman you could ever meet.

I also used to read "Spot the Dog" books. They were and still are fantastic books. My 3 year old Neice loves having books read to her and my mum still has a few books that were mine when I was that age, I now read them to my neice and my mum says it's so strange to see me & her sat reading them when she used to read them to me when I was that age.

It's nice to finally have a member of the family that loves reading & books as much as I do and especially at the age she is. I took her into my favourite book shop the other week and the look on her face was fantastic. I don't think she's ever seen so many books!

That is so great Lus. I've always loved bookstores. I think they are filled with romance mystery and adventure (pardon the pun).

I loved the little fim 84 Charing Cross Road with Anne Bancroft and Anthony Hopkins.

It's a dream to visit a London bookstore or 2 or 3 or 4 or 5.... :heartbeat: :heartbeat: :heartbeat:

I still have several old books kepted from when I was a little girl. I still have my Little Red Riding Hood book. Some of those old books were from the late 1960s to early 1970s and I still have them!!! They would be worth it now, I am sure.

I don't really remember reading kids books, when I was young. First thing I remember reading was The Hobbit and Lord Of The Rings, when I was twelve.
