Sherlock... I mean... KHANNNNNNN

I've been in and out of the Hospital all weekend seeing my 8yr old Neice Ami. She was rushed in on Friday night and late that same night we were informed that she has Diabetes.

So I have been looking after my Brothers youngest daughter Abbi all weekend. She is only 3yrs old & I've a lot of fun having her this weekend but I've only had her for three days and I feel dead on my feet today!

I have always had a great respect and admiration for parents with young children but my admiration and respect has grown so much more this weekend - I don't know how you guys do it 24 hours a day!

Ami, (the one that is in Hospital) is doing ok and is taking it all in her stride and is being so brave! She gave everyone a Finger-prick test yesterday and checked our Blood Sugar level - mine was 4.7, which is quite low as it should be between 5 and 10 (I think) At the moment my Brother and his wife will be giving her injections but as she gets older, she will be able to treat herself. She was going to be coming home today but as her sugar level went up to 32 last night, they aren't too sure when she'll be home but hopefully it should still be today. :fingerscrossed:

But yeah, that was my weekend. :bigyawn:

It's Christmas!

AWWWW....I am sorry to hear that. :hug4: My own grandfather had diabetes and now my father, I need to watch out for me then. They take on pills not injections. But your niece is young.

Ami is home now and though she's still not 100% she's a lot better than she was. :)

It sure is. I look after my Brothers kids alot and I've asked my sister in law to go through everything with me once she has got it sorted. I don't to do anything wrong when I look after her - even more so now.

I was on insulin when I was pregnant. It isn't that difficult once you get the hang of it.

She doesn't seem bothered by it at all. Which is a good thing, she's braver than I would have been at her age.

Glad the hear Ami is home. I have several members of my family with diabetes (Only because they dont follow doc's orders)

But yes looking after young kids is a full time job.
