I have a conference in Montreal in a couple of weeks. As the conference part tends to go on and on, I figured I would take a look around the town. As I have never been in those northern states before  I figured I should ask if there are some good sights I should check out there.

And tips on what I can do when visiting in-laws in the U.K. would also be greatly appreciated from those on the other side of the pond.

Is there nothing worthwhile in Montreal. What about the east side of Canada in general? Good places to eat?

Jadz, I will be in Bedfordshire and possibly Portsmouth. Do you know anything about either of those areas?

Montreal is a beautiful city from what I have seen. Oldest in canada I believe. There is plenty there to see especially if you like history. But sorry can't speak from personal experience.

Eastern Canada is basically America's uncool little brother (the benefits of being married to a Canadian, I can make all teh Canada jokes I want  )
