Exactly. That's one of the things that annoys me about today's country music. They go out of their way to sound like backwood hicks when they're from freaking NY (no offense) or New Zealand and have no discernible accent of which to speak. It annoys me.

Yes! And sometimes I read aloud and imitate the voices. Sounds kind of crazy, but imitation is something I've always done, to varying amounts of success.
