I'm taking a guess here but I think these were done for the first season.

Although since it premiered in late March of '89, depending on when they were doing all the production work on it and when the promo pictures were taken, they, theoretically, could have been taken in 1988. I remembered after the fact that I'd seen an ad for the Pilot episode once that featured a variation of the Sam/Al photo.

Although, I knew about it last week when I saw another recent picture of him which I'm realizing I never posted: It's from New Year's Eve, was posted in a writer's blog and that's a "Flat Stanley" that they're holding. (Apparently the author was entertaining "Flat Stanley" for the daughter of a friend or business acquaintence - I couldn't quite figure it out and can't remember the url for the blog off hand).

Archer's Wench Member #64 Joined: August 9, 2006	I can't figure how cable systems work from one state to the other - which explains why I don't know what stations make it to Canada. Sometimes I'm not sure what I even have on my cable package. I just recently found out the added they Hallmark Channel to it. No idea when that happened. Anyway, I found one more picture from "Blue Smoke" this one was on Nora Roberts' website.
