Have you actually tried spending one of these notes, and if so what did the recipient think about it ??
i rarely com across them, but asked the
bank for $20 worth a few months back. the cashiers
just looked at them for a moment the put them under their
cash drawers because they don't have a slot for them.

(the drawers have a removable insert for the cash & they
put checks and $100s under it. the take the stuff to the office
at the end of their shift to be checked against the resister receipts)

Yeah, that's what I thought, that banks would be suspicious about the notes.

Lus, thanks. It is nice, isn't it ?? :)

the back of a u.s. $2 bill. it's not rare, so if you have any
(few are worth more than face value) please spend them

more on the u.s. $2
I keep looking for one, but none so far. And to be honest, I would have thought that if anything they were counterfeit, rather like the English £3 notes that were circulated as a joke some years ago. :)

I work in Retail.. they are common.

we dont bat an eye...

the only ones that are worth anything say "silver certificate" on them!

So, the rarity is mostly because businesses never carry them in their cash supply, isn't it? They are the ones inhibiting the circulation, by not treating them like any other bill. People thinking they are collectibles is an effect from not seeing them regularly, & might, to some degree compound the problem, by removing a small sum of the bills from circulation

Businesses should just carry them in the same amounts as they would any other bill, & that would increase their usage. They don't however, & then whenever I'm in a busy business, the cashier is always begging for ones & fives. Duh... That's why we have a $2 note, to alleviate the mathematical burden of depending too greatly on ones & fives

Businesses are creating that problem for themselves. I hadn't ever really considered that before. Hell, the standard cash register only has like 5 slots

$1 $5 $10 $20 $50

$100s get placed in back or underneath, & $2s are just shit out of luck I guess, because they'll' be as regularly circulated as much as $100s

Since this came up, we've been checking our change for $2 bills. None yet, but gonna keep looking.

We see them all the time.. but not everyday... a few times a month

Ive never met anyone who was shocked to see one.... and these are people that I have to explain the purpose of a "hot water bottle" to
(cause they've only seen an electric heating pad)

but as far as carrying them in the cash drawers? that would be up to the bank.. the bank would have to have them enmasse, Im pretty sure they dont.

I get the concept, and how useful they'd be, I would just be suspicious of them is all.

But then, I felt the same when they did away with the Brit £1 notes, and brought out the £1 and £2 coins.

How often do you see a $100?

They'd alleviate the running out of ones & fives though wouldn't they?

$100s?

Id say 8-10 per register per day, 50's are about the same.
we keep those under the drawers though.. not in the slots... we have one empty slot in the drawers the one meant for bigger bills

$20s are what we get the most of

Should we move this topic?

Yeah, I figured 20s are what you get the most of. It's the ATM factor, & ones & fives are what you give out the most, but if you had a standard stash of twos, it would spread out a bit more evenly, I bet

some do, i suppose. you have to ask, although some banks
conspire to not have you ask by telling you they don't get
them in. there are people at wheresgeorge.com who only
enter in $2s. and there's a small town in california that was
handing them out to show how local people can stimulate
the local economy or something.

use the two

where to get toms

There can be only one

People have enough trouble with the math of giving/receiving change as it is....now you wanna throw a $2 bill in there?

Just use your debit card lady and get the hell out of the way
