Asalamu Alaikum, So where is everyone off too? I think eid may fall near the christmas/new year break you guys are having, not sure. Anyways, I'm off to the Motherland inshaAllah, and spending eid and everything there. InshaAllah I may head up to Kashmir for a few days too, which is exciting, since i've never been outside of karachi. Fi AmanAllah |

so I have a job and hardly any vacation time (I have 2 vacation days left for the rest of the year. What DID I do?) So I think I will take Eid off, go back to work, and take Friday off, so I can at least go to Jumuah. Actually, I could just work and take an hour lunch that Friday... I don't know. Oh to be young and have no responsibility! |

a few options: visit my brother in dubai. I havent seen him since january, so he's been asking me to come during break. I may go, but I'm not sure cuz I kind of have stuff to do here...I feel bad saying no though, cuz every time I talk to him he asks me when I'm coming. otherwise...I I have like 30 credits that need to get completed, so I'll get started on those...and I wanna work, hopefully as an intern at the regional senate office. so..crossing my fingers for that. thats about it. |

I'm probably going to stay home inshAllah. I'll be happy so long as we don't have to go to many houses. I don't really have many guys remotely around my age and socializing with the uncles is pretty rough. |

I kind of dread going to dubai, because its sooooo painfully boring. Theres nothing to do. Theres Global Village, which is AWESOME but how many times can you go to the same place. Other than that its just one big mall after the other, and you cant even shop in them because you know you could get all of that for 50% of the price when you get back home. There's ski dubai, which is cool, but same thing, how many times can you go to the same place. Its just like this giant dessert with humungous malls. When I think about going I'm just like "omg...Im gonna sit on the couch all day with my bhabi and shes gonna feed me cheetos and make me fat. Im going to have to periodically check to make sure I still have a pulse."(sidenote: golden grahms cost $8.00 in dubai! wth). Its just soooooooo boring. I cant imagine living there. Pakistans way more fun..whoever has the option between dubai and pakistan should pick PAKISTAN. *sigh* I miss lahore. but yeah, when you're rich iA, dont waste your money on stupid dubai haha. |

LOL, No, actually I've heard that quite a few times from people, so I'm not surprised. But this is still home for me and I guess I prefer actually living here. Maybe that has to do with the fact I'm used to it, heh. Amina, let me know if you do plan to come down here. My trip to PakLand isn't confirmed yet, it depends, so if I'm still around, I wouldn't mind meeting up. :) Okay, you've already mentioned some of the hot spots in Dubai, which are main tourist attractions. There are a few others too though, - There is shooting and archery at the Sharjah Club, and its near to Dubai. - Parks! Some of the parks here are beautiful. - Desert Safari - Check this out if you haven't already, go with your brother. - Desert camping/food - If you want to get a taste of the desert, they have specific places where they cater to either eating out in the desert or camping, don't know how adventurous you are though. Hehe. - Abaya & Hijab shopping, I have friends who buy in dozens when they come here, lol. - Halal Food - Beautiful Masajids, especially the Abu Dhabi one - I'm assuming it's going to be winter, I'd recommend trying out the outside area coffee shops at least once, preferably at the Dubai Festival City. - I would've mentioned malls, but you don't like them, and I can understand. :p You're coming in Winter, so I wouldn't recommend this, but if ever you decide to pop in during the Summer, they have all Women beaches and waterparks with specific days only for Women. Very apropriate for Hijabis. There are more I think, but it's currently 3 AM, and these were just off the top of my [sleepy + tired] head. Edited by bluey, Oct 26 2008, 06:05 PM.

I'm not sure if this is what you mean by desert safari/camping/food but I remember a few years ago in Dubai my fam arranged thsi day out in the desert where they take you offroading to hit up some spot in the middle of the desert to eat food. I threw up about 3 times on the way there, had the crappy food, and then had to head back offroading again through the sanddunes and stuff. I never felt so nausiated in my life. Driving the quads through the desert before that was SICK though. *edit* in a good way. Anyways for my winter break, prolly stay home eat sleep and eat. Holidays are depressing, ugh. ohhhh safari sounds pretty cool. Yeah abayah shopping is awesome :) you know what sucks. I saw this AMAZING hijab in some mall and I wanted it sooo bad, but then I asked how much it was, and it was $400.00 and I was like :o I tried to justify a 400 dollar hijab to myself, but I really couldnt, so I left it(and my heart) in the store :( My dad is coming back from dubai this week, and this time, I didnt ask him to bring me abayahs so lets see if he does it on his own. He has pretty good taste in abayahs(he makes up for it with his HORRIBLE taste in everything else.) I saw a few abayahs from al ain walking around the mall(I chase people down and ask them where they got their abayahs) and that made me want to go there. Do you know of any good places in al ain to get abayahs? Not ridiculously expensive ones.. next time i come to dubai, we should def hang out. you can convince me that dubai is fun :P and then jinnzaman, who is supposed to be the moderator on this forum(ie. responsible for keeping the peace) will have nothing to try and make us fight with :P |

I have to write the LSAT again...alas, I am troubled with the woes of making myself, I only feel the pain of my wounds only when others point them out. :( So much for RIS and buying a pile of Islamic books. |
