Asalam Alaykum

Alhamdulillah. Thats great akhi, I pray you do a wonderful article and I look forward to reading it. Thanks for willing to share your sources with me, I need all the information I can get to write up an article, I'm hoping that one of the UK Islamic Magazines can publish it InshaAllah.
Currently, the sources that I'm using is an audio lecture by Ali Al-Tamimi on 'Revival of Politics in the Ummah', and gathering information on the Ethics of Disagreement from various scholars/writers. I will let you know as soon as I've dug out some good info. The base of my article would be that differences of opinion is nothing new, it existed even at the time of Prophet Muhammad (sallallahu alayhi wassalam), and during the period of great scholars such as Abu Hanifah and Imam Shaf'i, however these differences didn't stop the Muslim nation from being the leading ones in the world, hence differences shouldn't really be a cause of divisions. I want to touch upon the lack of ways of resolving disputes and thus leading to the need of a Khalifah. May Allah give us the strength to sacrifice anything for seeking his pleasure alone and steering clear of worldly attachments and divisions. Ameen

wa alaikum assalam.

Awesome!

With regards to the topic of ikhtilaaf, there's plenty of resources by Shah Waliullah and Maulana Khandelwi who wrote books about the differences of opinion. Shaykh Yaser Birjas from Al Maghrib gave an awesome lecture on the topic of ikhtilaaf at ISNA as well. There is also Imam Ghazzali's "Faysal at-Tafriqa" which is something that is needed to combat the takfeer culture of today.

I also like how you tied it with the Khalifate. I would really like to read it when its done. InshaAllah, I'll be posting my essay when its done as well.

May Allah (subhana wa ta'ala) reward you through your efforts and guide others through you. Ameen.

Ameen :) And I pray the same for you brother. Ameen
Jazakum Allahu khayr for recommending those writers/speaker, Alhamdulillah I've looked into Shah Waliullah's work and ordered one of his books from Kitaabun.com today. The Ethics of Disagreement in Islam by Taha Jabir al `Alwani is an excellent read.
I'll get an insight to the rest of the scholars InshaAllah and can't wait to read your article once it's done :)
May Allah reward you for your dawah efforts and may he, the most High increase you in piety. Ameen

Wassalam

where's the place where the lebanese army is picking on the palestinians?

...Nahr al-Bared, couple of clicks away from Tripoli.
btw the Lebanese army isn't exactly oppressing the Palestinians- they're shelling the camp, but these 'Fath al-Islam' blokes are entirely non-Palestinian. That said, the Lebanese army is pretty poor at suppressing these people...
