So, here you are, wandering around through the nice and pretty S.S. Riptide. It's a speedy luxury liner headed straight for the island of Tohea, Ayer in particular. In case you were wondering, and you likely were, you were standing comfortably atop the deck, and there were a few other people standing around. If you looked over the edge, you might see a few Pokémon swimming alongside the ship, like a few Finneon and Tentacool. Overhead, there were the cries of Wingull as they drifted lazily through the skies. And just in the distance, you would be able to see, if you looked and tilted your head to the side a little, the outline of an island! That would be Tohea.

A sound buzzed on the announcing system, and a calm, feminine voice soon followed. "Remember, everyone! If you or your Pokémon are even feeling the slightest bit seasick, please drop by the Pokémon Center just below the main deck! And please don't try to go fishing off of the deck!" And as suddenly as it came, it was gone. And just as the voice ended, a boy came storming up the stairs onto the deck. He glanced around the area, at various people and/or Pokémon. There was a motherly-looking woman with a Kangaskhan, both playing with what looked like a child and her Cubone. There was an old man relaxing in a chair with a Medicham sitting in one right next to him. And over across the deck, there was a beautiful woman sunbathing with a Persian lounging right nearby. All of the Pokémon gave a collective glance towards the boy, but then resumed their various activities or lack thereof.

The boy wasn't exactly stupid, but he was definitely impatient. He let out an extremely annoyed groan, before shouting to the skies "Does anyone on this stupid ship want to battle?" ...maybe a boy as driven as this could be a fun battle, if you were willing to have your first on the ship. On the other hand, he seemed a bit too enthusiastic, so maybe it would be better to keep your distance. And if you didn't want to humor him, you could easily go exploring through the ship, or even chatting up the various people on the deck!

So, what do you want to do?

Character Title
Tabitha Johnson
Tabitha stood on the deck staring longingly out to the sea. There were such pretty Pokémon swimming around the ship she stood atop. The one that caught her eye the most was a fish like Pokémon with a beautiful tail. She did not know what type it was, but watching it jumping happily in the waves gave her a feeling of being happy. She could just see the island of Tohea on the coastline coming slowly closer to her and her impatience flared inside her. How much longer would it be?

The boat was rocking back and forth as was Jupitar's Pokeball on her belt. She decided to take a glance around the ship. All the people seemed to be full of themselves. There was a lady sunbathing and a guy sitting lonesomely with his Pokémon. She, too, was being a loner but you would never catch her dead sunbathing. You would also never see her isolating herself on purpose she always tried to make conversation with anyone and everyone and treat them like equals.

There was a lady that caught her eye. She was standing by her Kangaskahn smiling as she watched a child playing with it. A Cubone kept hiding behind the Kangaskahn and popping out at the child who seemed to enjoy this game. Tabitha smiled to herself thinking how wonderful it would be to be a kid again without a worry in the world. Right now she had plenty of worries, how she was going to do on this journey was the first one. The second one was her stubborn Dratini, Jupitar who seemed like he was trying to ignore her constantly reaching out for friendship.

Deciding against wondering around and talking amongst the people, she continued to stand on the deck staring lazily out to the sea. The boat rocking was making her sleepy and she felt some nausea creeo into her stomach. She immediately sat down on the deck and closed her eyes realizing that the movement of the waves and boat together was causing it. She felt herself slowly drifting off to sleep.

She was awoken abruptly with a young boy who seemed very annoyed yelling, "Does anyone on this stupid ship want to battle?"

Tabitha jumped up anger flaring in her chest. She was just about to have her familiar dream about her wonderful Dratini turning into a strong Dragonite and this dumb boy thought it would be funny to disturb them all. She noticed all the Pokémon on the ship looking at him for a split second, annoyed, then ignoring him. She silently agreed with the way the Pokémon felt.

Tabitha made up her mind in a split second feeling totally overconfident as anger flowed through her body. Because of this stupid boy yelling she had been totally disturbed. She wanted to punch him in the face or something for waking her up. She felt he deserved something bad done to him. She strutted up to him glaring as her face turned a comedic red. Grumbling to herself trying to figure out how to best let him have it.

"I'll battle you you dumb boy! We're all up here because we want to be away from noisy people like you because you are all so annoying. I don't care how much you want to battle you came up here and disturbed my dream of my lovely Dratini turning into the strongest Dragonite on the planet. If I win I give you permission, nay I command you to apologize to all these people whom you have disturbed."

She could not quite read the boys expression at her words but she knew what to do next. She reached for her Pokeball on her left that signified it was the first one in her line up. She was excited at the prospect at seeing how her new Dratini did in a full blown battle, but a little bit worried about it's stubborness. She blew it off thinking that maybe a real battle would keep it from being so stubborn and she knew it would help her bond with him in one way or another.

"Jupitar! Come on out, teach this boy a lesson about destroying my dreams."

Jupitar came out, but he was no longer glaring at Tabitha as if it was her fault he was awake. He was ready for battle perched up like a cobra ready to strike as he awaited Tabitha's first move. For once she felt like maybe they could get past their differences and pull it off. This excited her a little bit as the Dragonite flew in front of her eyes leaving stars in them. Then she looked down at her Dratini, their first battle, it was a little nerve wracking, but if she lost it would be good experience for next time. She crossed her fingers that the moves she chose would work okay. She was ready to battle!

This boy, this boy, this poor, poor boy. All he was doing was coming up to the deck in irritation, looking for a battle, and there was some insane girl shouting at him! Something about a dream, some sort of...mention of a Dragonite or something. Honestly, she was talking way too quickly and way too angrily for the boy to follow. That, and he was too busy trying to keep a straight face. He goes up there looking for a battle, and there's some crazy girl shouting at him about her hopes and dreams, instead. He noticed that feeling of being watched that was coming from a few other people and Pokémon on the deck, but he tried to brush it off. Chances are, they weren't responding quite so noticeably to him, but to this girl's spontaneous, angry outburst. The boy took a few steps back, trying to distance himself from the girl. At least she was willing to battle.

But before he could properly prepare himself, a harsh, annoyed, simply condescending voice rung out from across the deck. "Speak for yourself, y'little snot." The voice was quickly accompanied by a loud, growl-like purring noise. To your right, there was that woman that was sunbathing, though she was hardly focused on that now. Her golden-blond hair was tied back into a bun, a pair of pink-rimmed sunglasses covering her eyes, and a sunset orange bikini covering her girly bits. You could tell she was in the middle of getting a really nice tan, for whatever reason. But it didn't take a genius to figure out that she was glaring. Her Persian was following suit, and the combined force of their gazes was likely enough to send a chill up your spine. "I came up here to get a tan, and here I am getting disturbed by some self-righteous girl with dreams too big for her little diaper. But a battle? This should be good." She looked around, seeing that the mother-and-daughter pair were also watching, the mother out of entertainment and the child out of intrigue, and the old man and his Medicham were completely unfazed by the disruption.

The boy paused, taking a look at the woman as she barked towards you. Clearly, he was a little... distracted. Luckily, there was a sudden "Hey you, what are ya waiting for? Go on, battle." to snap him back to his senses. He reached down to his belt, fumbling around with a few of his Pokeballs. By the way he handled them, he had more than one occupied. But as far as he seemed to be concerned, this was a one-on-one battle. So, after sizing up his competition, he took off a certain Pokeball from his belt, one marked with a blue star above the button, and threw it towards the space he'd made by stepping back earlier.

There was a flash of light, and a small, purple monkey with a long tail emerged on the deck. It did a few little curious, nibbly noises at something on its tail- or third arm, whichever you prefer, before getting prepared for battle at its own pace. By the time it looked ready, it had been about ten seconds, and the little monkey had ended up sitting on its tail like it was a giant cushion.

"Alright, Aipom, we don't know what it can do. Why don't you loosen up and play around a bit, first?" the boy said, a sly grin on his face as he looked over to the sunbathing woman. Aipom responded, turning itself away from Jupitar. Then, it began to slowly shake its behind back and forth, waving its hand-tail around like some sort of silly, Buizel-like propeller-tail, except it sure wouldn't be doing any swimming with that. But the way it was shaking its butt at you, almost as if taunting you, would definitely provoke some kind of reaction, unless you were an emotionless robot.

Character Title
Tabitha Johnson
Tabitha watched the boy who was staring at her like she was a maniac. It made her realize all her anger at him was well deserved. He started looking around the ship and staring at everyone. Tabitha followed suit and noticed that all the occupants except the isolated man with his medicham were glaring at them both. She smiled at herself knowing that it was all this boys fault that they were staring and that she had made the right choice to shut him up. She watched the boy fumbling with the pokeballs at his belt. He seemed to have more than one Pokémon as he was gently picking up one than the other trying to decide who to use.

Suddenly from across the deck the sunbathing lady was no longer sunbathing anymore. She was sitting up and touching her pink sunglasses on her eyes. Her expression was unreadable, but her movements were fast and sporadic as if she was really annoyed about something. Tabitha again smiled at herself she knew this kid had made them all mad. But then after she started feeling overconfident the lady spoke.

"Speak for yourself, y'little snot."

I told you that no one liked being disturbed up her young man," Tabitha had to smile at how right her prediction had been, but then the lady spoke up again.

"I came up here to get a tan, and here I am getting disturbed by some self-righteous girl with dreams too big for her little diaper. But a battle? This should be good."

Now Tabitha was turning beet red as her anger subsided and instead foolishness and shyness fell over her. The boy was no longer staring at his challenger he was looking at the sunbathing girl with a lust in his eyes. Tabitha thought it was disgusting and ridiculous that this boy was trying to be noticed. She felt the pressure unfold on her ten times more, they were all watching expecting her to get pummeled. Instead of this boy being pummeled they wanted Tabitha to be pummeled. She looked down at Jupitar and realized with a jolt it was their first battle, how stupid could she have been to try to make this boy think he was going to lose. Now if she lost she would be the one that would never want to show her face in Tohea.

Tabitha stared at the boy and he stared back at her. The sunglasses lady was getting impatient and started telling them to battle. She was ready for it. Of course once she shouted it out the boy got a sheepish grin on his face, fumbled with his Pokeballs, and threw one out. An Aipom appeared as it bounced about on it's tail full of energy. Tabitha looked at the cute Pokémon for a minute wondering how cool it would be to have something so cute on her team.

Then the boy spoke the first words since he yelled at everyone on the deck as he smiled slyly, "Alright, Aipom, we don't know what it can do. Why don't you loosen up and play around a bit, first?"

Boys, you are all so dumb. Quit showing off for your girlfriend over there, I'm sure she's not interested. She has to be at least 50 years old!"

Tabitha smiled at what she had said. She had killed two birds with one stone. The boy had been pointed out to bikini lady as wanting to date her. She had also said something that she thought would be very offensive to get the stupid bikini lady back for calling her a girl in a diaper and a snot. She loved being her, because no matter how mean people were she could always win by saying something rude. Then she watched the Aipom as it started shaking it's butt showing off for the bikini girl too.

Your stupid Pokémon, Aipom has quite an attitude! What a way to act, like an overenergetic child. You think you can win little Pokémon," Tabitha said in a baby voice,
"So you can take a medal home to your mommy and daddy. Do you really think you are that good?"

Suddenly Tabitha's anger stopped without any warning. She knew she had said some pretty mean things and done something she should not have. Everyone was glaring at her and she knew they were all very angry. Shyly she looked at Jupitar and tried to pretend no one was around her.

Um, Jupitar I need you to help me out with this. I think whether we win or not we are going to be in big trouble...

Tabitha looked at all the glares again and closed her eyes to block them out. Jupitar turned around to her as he rolled his eyes. Tabitha however was to focused on refusing to see the people staring at her and refusing to realize that she let the anger get the best of her again. She did not want to think that she would have trouble getting through this journey if she didn't watch her actions quick enough.

"Heh heh, heh heh! Sorry everyone just...joking...a little joke on my part. You have to have a sense of humor these days or you would get no where in life. Alright, Jupitar, thunder wave that Aipom to the point of paralysis!"

Tabitha pretended her and that boy were the only two people battling. If she didn't the reality of what was going to happen after this battle would hit her like a ton of bricks. She crossed her fingers that she would have the common sense to get out of the mess she had got herself in. She also hoped she would win now that all the pressure was on her beating this boy and proving to everyone she had a right to say what she did.

(( It's a bit bare-bones this time, sorry! ))

"Girlfriend!? Try older sister." the boy snapped, not even missing a beat after her condescending remarks. But, he restrained himself as she proceeded to berate his Pokémon, saying something about... a medal? Wow, she really must be crazy! A simple little battle wasn't something that gave people medals! But he didn't have time to think about what she'd said. There was a battle going on, after all!

The moment he heard "Thunder Wave", the boy was already giving his Aipom an order. "Aipom, get as close as you can before it hits, then try to Scratch it!" Jupitar began to glow with a deep blue light, with electricity crackling faintly across its body as it charged up the attack. The monkey shot into an arcing sprint, getting just within two-and-a-half feet of the Dratini before the Thunder Wave hit. Luckily, his muscles were relaxed from before, so while there was a visible jump in the monkey, it wasn't quite as bad as it could have been. Aipom winced slightly, before taking a step towards the little serpent. It turned around, slamming the ends of its tail into Jupitar's face, in the closest thing to a Scratch attack a Pokémon apparently without claws could manage. However, as it turned back around to face its opponent, the paralysis arose again, sending a jolt through the monkey's body. Luckily, as it began to fall backwards, it was able to push itself back up with its tail, so it was back on its feet, albeit unsteadily.

Battle Summary
Past Rounds
Battlers are released, Dratini vs Aipom.
Aipom opens with a Stretch and Tail Whip, spending 4EP.

This Round
Jupitar uses Thunder Wave, spending 3 EP.
Aipom is paralyzed, somewhat counteracting the speed boost he had gotten from Relaxing.
However, Aipom keeps the Paralysis at bay long enough to deliver a Scratch to Jupitar, spending 5EP.

Calculations
Aipom Scratch: (((((40/5 +/- 0) +1)x1.2)x1)x1) + 1 = (9 * 1.2) + 1 = 10.8 + 1 = 11.8 => 12

Rolled a 4-sided die to determine if Aipom would be paralyzed (25% chance). Paralysis needed a 1, a 4 was rolled.

Tabitha Johnson
(Don't worry I'm not so great at battle posts myself. :) I try to make them sound awesome but really it's just attacking, dodging and the occasional curse or two about how bad or good I'm doing.)

Tabitha stared at the boy shyly as he told her that this girl he had been watching with such interest was his older sister. She refrained from spitting out a remark about how gross this was knowing she was already over her head in trouble. The Aipom was bouncing around still and it's owner was giving her a look like she was a crazy person. She figured it would not be long now to get rid of the competition. As cute as the little Monkey was she could tell it was a fairly easy knockout. Looking at it she started noticing something she had missed before. It was holding itself up on tail.

Suddenly the Aipom started zooming toward Jupitar who was already glowing with a blue light ready to attack with it's thunderwave. Tabitha closed her eyes and silently hoped the damage would not be near as bad. The thunderwave shot out of Jupitar at the split second the Aipom hit him with a scratch attack. The Aipom seemed to have it's senses about him for a few minutes but then fell back as the thunder wave hit him hard. He steadily balanced himself back up on his tail but seemed a little wobblier than before.

Tabitha noticing this scene of weakness started forming an idea in her head. However she noticed that Jupitar was not standing up very well either. He seemed very tired or hurt or something she was not quite sure. She didn't even know if she had anything to give poor Jupitar to help him back up on his feet. She hastily started digging around in her bag for a potion as she made the judgement and decided what she was going to do.

"Jupitar, are you okay? Do you think you can go on?"

Jupitar looked up at Tabitha nodding it's head, although it was a little slower than normal like he was having trouble thinking on his feet. He pulled himself back up into the cobra pose and awaited the next order perking his fin-like ears up as Tabitha shifted around in her bag. When she noticed he was sitting still and seemed ready for battle she came to her senses.

"Alright Jupitar, that Aipom is having trouble balancing on it's handtail thing. What I need you to do is go down to the ground and aim a strong wrap attack at the tail. That is it's achilles heel right now. Then try to push yourself away from him by using a thunder wave as well. That way you have less of a chance of getting hurt as badly this round. I'm in the process of finding a potion so we can finish this battle. The only thing is, I'm not sure I have one."

Tabitha put her hand on the back of her head laughing sheepishly. Had her mom packed her a potion. She wasn't sure, if not it was no big deal. She had a feeling all the people on the ship deck would attempt to battle her after she beat this kid. She had dug herself in a hole. She did not imagine she would get by with winning a battle without being thrown in another one. Her stupid big mouth, how come she did not know how to keep it shut? Jupitar was posed to go through with the attacks she had given him. She could only hope this round had a better outcome then the last one for her.

The boy couldn't help but smile as he saw his opponent's apparent frustration. She had started to dig around in her bag as her Dratini just sat there. And as she started talking, revealing her plans rather obviously, the boy just got an extremely confident smirk. After about a sentence into her thought process rant, the boy figured that the timing was about as good as it would get. He pointed an arm out at the Dratini, abruptly talking over Tabitha's monologue, shouting "Scratch again!"

The Aipom quickly returned to its feet as a few little bits of electricity coursed through its body, enough to tell it that balancing on its tail probably wasn't the best of ideas. Luckily, Tabitha and Jupitar were too engrossed in the Trainer's rant to realize that just because she was saying something doesn't mean that everyone's gonna sit back and wait for her to finish! The Aipom barely even had to close any distance, since neither of them took more than a step or so. So, as he spun his body around to get some momentum for the Scratch attack, Jupitar saw it coming, but couldn't really do anything in time.

The tail impacted against Jupitar's side, and try as it might to Wrap itself around the prehensile tail, it did little more than attach itself to the hand for a brief moment, only to limply slide off a split second later. As the serpent fell to the ground, the boy let out a thrilled cheer as he ran to his Aipom. The monkey, though stunned, was as jubilant as he was, making adorable monkey noises and swinging its tail around in jumpy, erratic arcs. "Woohoo! Awesome job, Aipom, you didn't even get a scratch!"

After a few more seconds of running around in victory, the pair went straight for the older sister, who had a slightly stunned look on her face. There was an exchange that wasn't quite loud enough for you to make out, considering the rest of the life on the deck was returning to their own devices. But the boy got some small thing from his sister, some vial, container, or similar thing, and went running off in some other direction, the Aipom looking to be full of life again. The woman, on the other hand, just returned to her sunbathing, though if you tried hard enough you might be able to see that she looked pretty happy herself.

Sadly, any more investigating that you wanted to do would likely be difficult, as Jupitar was in pretty bad shape. The best course of action would probably be to get to the Pokémon Center, and then regroup, but if you wanna do something else, then by all means, go ahead. It just might be really boring.

End of Battle
That Scratch hit, and since it dealt out 12 damage last time, there's hardly a reason to recalculate it. Jupitar also gains 0 EXP for dealing no damage to the Aipom.

Jupitar has Fainted, and you are now without usable Pokémon. Luckily, the boy forgot to get his prize money from you, and instead got some sort of item from his sister. However, you may want to keep in mind that it's standard for the loser to give some cash to the winner after a Pokémon Battle should you run into him again.

And remember: Talking takes time, time that the other person can spend getting the advantage. So be careful when you go into long spiels like that, it leaves you wide open to attack.

Tabitha Johnson
Tabitha had finally found the potion in her backpack that she had been digging through. She looked up jubilantly as she held it up and showed Jupitar, but a horrible site met her eyes. The Aipom had scratched Jupitar with it's hand tail thing again. Tabitha saw as Jupitar tried to carry out her orders of wrapping around the tail, but he apparently got no where as he slid off in slow motion. Then fainted.

Tabitha looked up stunned at the site that met her eyes. Her first battle and she had blown it. Would she ever be a good trainer. She had a feeling Jupitar would be mad at her when she woke him up. Numbly she picked up the pokeball on her belt and touched it to Jupitar as it sucked him inside. Then she hooked it to her belt what little color was in her face disappeared.

As the boy cheered and his little Aipom looked stunned she noticed his older sister looked happily at her brother. Instead of coming to Tabitha to get his money he went straight to her and got some weird item which was something Tabitha was thankful for. Looking around at all the people smiling and going back to there other activities she ran off the deck. As she got inside the ship where no one had known what had just happened she let a few tears escape her eyes as she ran further down.

She knew the Pokémon center was on the bottom floor and she had to get Jupitar there in a hurry. She rushed all the way down the stairs her tears replaced with determination. One day she would win a battle she would have to. However Jupitar would be very mad at her since he was so stubborn, she just had to wing it. How horrible it was that she lost the battle and did not get to show Jupitar anything but that she was an incompetent beginner.

Finally lost in thought she reached the Pokémon center. She burst through the doors out of breath. Several heads of trainers hanging out turned in her direction and then went right back to what they were doing. She ran up to the desk noticing the lady behind it, threw Jupitars Pokeball on it, and then bent down hands on her knees to get herself to breathing again.

"First battle ma'am. Got literally beat up by an Aipom. He needs help now! He's in really bad shape!"

The Nurse, a wonderfully kind woman, instantly took a look of worry when Tabitha said "He's in really bad shape!" After all, that could mean all manner of things! And if there was one thing this Nurse was, it was bored. Barely anyone had come down into the Pokémon Center to actually heal their Pokémon within the last hour or so, so she was quite happy to finally have someone in need of her services. The woman took Jupitar's Pokeball, placing it in a small tray beneath some large machine. A line of light shot out, scanning the orb over and over again. On a computer screen that Tabitha couldn't see without practically leaning over the counter, there was an image of a Dratini getting created, with noticeable spots where the Aipom had hit the serpent. Why it looked like some kind of magical diagnosis machine!

As the computer finished, the nurse nodded towards it, apparently comprehending just what was wrong with the snake's body. "He's damaged here and there... shouldn't be... all right." Clearly, her thoughts weren't quite fully making it to her mouth, so whatever she said was up for guessing. But before you could engage in a game-show like bout of guessing, the Nurse took the Pokeball with a smile. "Don't worry, miss, your Dratini will be in great shape in just a while. And since you seem worried, I wanted to let you know that you're allowed to wait here until he's better, okay?" The Nurse gave a small wave of farewell, walking into a room behind the front counter. The moment the door opened, there were a few shouts of "Chansey!" and the sounds of multiple footsteps hurrying about. But when the door closed, the sound was completely muted. That was a darn good door.

So, chances are, you just waited around in the Pokémon Center for your Jupitar to be revitalized. It didn't take too long, maybe about fifteen minutes, for the Nurse to come back out, holding the Pokeball once more. She placed it on the counter as she looked towards you, honestly expecting you to leap to your feet and take the Pokeball like it was solid gold. But before you could take the orb, the Nurse looked as if she had something to say!

"Miss, you still seem tense. If you want to go somewhere truly relaxing, I'd recommend the underwater Observation Deck. It's through that door, down the hall, and to the left." she said, pointing towards a door to her right. "It has a space that opens up to the ocean for a few seconds once we start moving, and there's bound to be all sorts of things in there! It's the closest they can get to an aquarium of Wild Pokémon on this boat, you see. And if you or your Dratini happen to be feeling under the weather from that room, I'll still be here!" she continued, giving you a cheery smile as per the usual. So, if you wanted to, you could head down the hall to that observation deck and see what you find. And if you didn't want to find any Wild Pokémon yet, you can always just wander the ship and see what comes up. But the ship is probably getting closer to its destination, so you might want to decide quickly.

The nurse looked at Tabitha worriedly and expectantly held out her hand to take the pokeball. Tabitha was holding so tight onto Jupitar's Pokeball that the Nurse had to literally pry it out from her hands. Finally after she let go of it she watched the nurse as she placed it on a machine. A scanner shot over the ball and a screen showed a shape of a dratini appearing slowly. There were two big long scratch marks from the Aipom that had battled it. The nurse mumbled something under her breath that Tabitha could not hear then went into the room with her precious Pokeball.

Tabitha glumly sat down at a table with her hand pressed onto her cheek. She could not believe how bad that battle had been. Jupitar was literally going to hate her when he got better. However before she could ponder what ways Jupitar might show his hatred the nurse came back out beckoning her to the desk. Tabitha walked up to it timidly and held her hand out for Jupitar.

"Thank you ma'am. I feel like such an awful trainer. That was our first battle and it could not have gone any worse. I just hope Jupitar is a little more forgiving then I expect him to be."

With that Tabitha bowed at the nurse and turned to go. The nurse instantly stopped her before she could leave and told her about an observation deck down the hall that she could go to to calm down. Tabitha nodded her head smiling, then waved as she headed in the direction of the observation deck. It sounded like an exciting place to go and see different Pokémon that she did not know about. When she reached the door that led into it she opened it up and noticed a room surrounded in water Pokémon swimming around it. It was an amazing site. Worriedly she let Jupitar out of his Pokeball.

Jupitar zoomed out and when he noticed Tabitha turned his back on her. Tabitha felt bad at this sudden change of mood but she knew all starters had a hard time trusting trainers if they lost battles. It just happened to be a bad battle that had ended in loss which stung her Dratini as much as it had stung her. Tabitha decided to take a different approach to Jupitar's behavior. That was ignoring that he was trying to make her feel bad and instead point out all the good things in the room.

"Wow, Jupitar, would you look at this room. I can't see why every trainer would not have a reason to come here it's amazing, huh? These Pokémon are good at showing off aren't they, boy?"

"Drati"Jupitar said in an angry tone. Tabitha shrugged her shoulders and decided she would just let it slide for now. Who knew what things she might do that would show Jupitar that she was a better trainer than what she had demonstrated previously. Crossing her fingers she hoped she was right, and that her and Jupitar would end up being the best of friends, like they were supposed to be.

The life of a new Trainer is intrinsically hard; you have to juggle a maelstrom of new ideas and thought process as well as attempt to fathom a foreign creatures’ psychology, and let’s face it, that’s not the easiest task in the world. However, the power of calming scenery combined with the innate chemistry of a Trainer-Pokémon relationship can do wonders for a small tiff such as losing a battle. Jupitar would not maintain the “cold shoulder” treatment for much longer, assuredly. As you examined the wonderful collection of aquatic Pokémon located in the observatory, you could almost feel the pressure from your defeat easing away.

As life pretty much can always be expected to do, it was about to toss you a bone when it came to reasons to be thankful. Shattering the serenity of the observation deck, a perfect example of the term “high-maintenance” was heading your way. Dressed in kapri pants and a bright blue tank-top, a perfectly tanned young woman with a bright red face was yelling at the top of her lungs at a very frightened-looking Buneary who was hurrying along as fast as it could. The small, adorable Pokémon was visibly distressed, it’s ears pulled back to its head so tight that the balls of fluff were almost not visible.
“What, in all of CREATION, was THAT?! YOU WERE PATHETIC! IF DADDY HAD JUST BOUGHT ME A REAL Pokémon LIKE I ASKED HIM TOO, ARGHHHHHHHHHH!”

…Needless to say, the Buneary had apparently done something wrong in the spoiled woman’s eyes. Stomping into the center of the observatory, paying you absolutely no heed, all blonde hair and blue eyes and manicured fingernails, she glared down at the terrified Pokémon. “Really?! You couldn’t win a battle against a BAGON? The thing looked retarded! Ugh!” Finally stopping her rant to check her surroundings, she found you with those furious blue eyes and almost snarled at you. “What are –you- looking at, with that ugly ass Pokémon?”

Normally, Pokémon Centers are places of rest and healing. Perhaps, just this once, there was an exception to be had.

Tabitha Johnson
Tabitha and Jupitar glanced around the surroundings. The Pokémon in them were amazing. Tabitha had never seen such a vast collection of Pokémon, and what was even better were the computers hooked on the Aquarium. Anytime a Pokémon swam by the computer picked up which Pokémon it was. Suddenly, the Pokémon Tabitha had seen earlier on the deck swam by the computer scanner. It immediately read Finneon and listed off what its evolutions were. Tabitha was in literal heaven and feeling more and more serene as she stared at this amazing place.

Jupitar's eyes had fallen on the right side of the aquarium and he was busy watching a Magikarp attempting to win a race. Tabitha looked at Jupitar and had to laugh. She still did not know what Magikarp were good for however she was a new trainer. As it swam through the scanner she saw it's name pulled up with it's evolution following.

"Gyrados?! That thing evolves into a Gyarados Dratini? That has got to be the craziest thing I have ever heard. I need to get me one of those some day. After all part dragon part water what could go wrong with those?"

Jupitar looked up at Tabitha disbelieving and shook it's head laughing. If only his trainer knew how hard it was to raise such a flimsy Pokémon up to the one it would become. Not to mention that an electric move would zap the Pokémon out of the water even in it's evolved dragon form. JUpitar continued crawling on the floor and looking around. However the serene mood was soon interrupted as a girl with kapri's and a perfect tan came into the aquarium.

Tabitha and Jupitar both looked up at her. The racket she was making awoke them from the serene mood. She was screaming at a poor little bunny Pokémon. Jupitar and Tabitha both exchanged knowing looks. When Tabitha noticed the bunny Pokémon cowering before it's supposed trainer as she told it how she wanted another one a wave of anger swept through her. Who was she to treat a Pokémon like that. Tabitha felt the familiar feeling of a mood switch coming on and continued to try and bite her tongue. That was until the girl finally noticed them and asked what they were staring at and why her Pokémon was so "Ugly ass."

That did it, Tabitha's mood changed in a jolt you could almost see her body growing as she jumped angrily at the words. Even Jupitar appeared offended as he narrowed his eyes at the girl letting out the scariest sound Tabitha had ever heard. Once she realized her and Jupitar were on the same page she decided to pounce.

"Who are you to treat a Pokémon like that? I'll tell you what I think, I think you are unfit to be a trainer. And that if you are going to treat your Pokémon like that you are lucky there are no social services for them. You are supposed to work as a team with your Pokémon not tear down it's efforts. You are so stupid. Now to see who is the better trainer. I, who treats my Pokémon nicely, or you who treats your Pokémon like literal crap."

"Drati Drati!!" Jupitar said agreeing with his trainer.

Tabitha started worrying that she might have totally worded everything wrong. What if she lost the girl would think she was the better trainer. Well it was too late now what was said was said. Tabitha stared down the girl glaring then pointed to the center of the aquarium.

"Alright, Jupitar we can do this! Go!"

With that Jupitar crawled into the center nodding his head with a look of determination on his face. Tabitha was afraid to hurt the little bunny Pokémon but a lesson needed to be learned. Tabitha was polite and waited for the angry girl to call her Pokémon out as well. A move she was worried she would regret later.

Sometimes, it is wiser to be polite, pick the easier path, not try and cause problems.

Of course, sometimes, with certain people, it was perfectly alright to be aggressive and determined. And with a girl this unpleasant, determined not to listen to reason, it was probably for the best. She certainly responded to you in an 'enthusiastic' manner.

"FINE!" the girl bellowed, an unpleasant hint of a whine in her voice. Obviously, she was the kind of teenager who was used to getting her way just by demanding long enough, loud enough. "Buneary, you had better win this one! Get in there and squish that little worm into oblivion!"

The Buneary, while obviously not really wanting to fight again, was just as obviously intimidated by her trainer, and reluctantly bounded in. She looked terrified, although whether this was because of the fight or her trainer, it was hard to tell. Either way, she swung her cute little fists, leaping up and towards Jupitar. Her moves weren't very fast or precise, it would appear she was pretty new at this sort of thing. And her trainer likely wasn't going to be much help. Now it was your choice whether to try and dodge, or just bash her right back.
