"I do not think there is any thrill that can go through the human heart like that felt by the inventor as he sees some creation of the brain unfolding to success... such emotions make a man forget food, sleep, friends, love, everything." - Nikola Tesla
Tohea is in archive mode, but the legend lives on. |

[Just as a heads up, you can't start with a 'dex unless you specifically state that you got one from Hazel in bio, according to Jean. So, I'm working under the assumption that Oak had been out of the last batch, or the Tohea one was slightly different, or... you know, some variety of handwave. Since you're heading to Hazel's lab in Riverwood regardless, it shouldn't make any serious difference - just giving a quick explanation of the reasoning here. Also I have no idea if Ayer officially has an airport - the starting locations only pins Kadaara as specifically having an airport, but given the 'etc' at the end of Ayer, I'm just going to pretend you... you know, found a small airport or... something. Or paradropped if you prefer. Or rappelling down from a helicopter. I don't think it actually -matters-] From the Rainbow city to the... boat city, if all the ships at the massive series of docks were any indication. Alright, so maybe Ayer wasn't exactly sparkling Celadon or shimmering floral Cerulean, but it had its own charm; not nearly as obviously-corrupt as Kadaara nor as filled with skyscrapers and industry as Riverwood, Ayer was an odd combination of old and new, business and relaxation - a veritable forest of masts and hulls marked the sprawling docks, but Ayer itself ranged from industrial to an almost old-timey classic retro look back to bustling activity, depending on which sector of the city you looked at. The differences between areas had been obvious even from the air, and now that you were actually in it it was even more blatant. It was a busy city regardless, though, full of trainers and civilians alike going about their daily business. Pokémon of all shapes and sizes cavorted through the crowds or lazily floated in the air, the sounds of hustle, bustle, and lots of combat wafted over from the beach, even the area around the Pokécenter, where you were now, was filled with trainers. Not many actual battles were going on, but the beginnings of any number were underway, trainers arguing or agreeing on clauses even as small Pokémon dashed about underfoot and larger ones waded through the streaming crowds. If Kanto had cities themed after colors, perhaps Tohea's could more accurately be compared to stages of life - if so, Ayer was surely the city of beginnings, both from its lively atmosphere and the untold numbers of new trainers that arrived here each day. It was, after all, the shipping capital of the continent - and boat rides were cheaper than airline tickets, especially for most trainers. They didn't exactly have the tendency to be exceptionally rich, especially when new. You, on the other hand, were here for a mission. Oak had sent you to do your thing, categorizing and studying wild Pokémon and their habitats, and for that you would need a Pokedex. By the power of Or you could always dawdle and catch a few Pokémon along the way as a research offering, or simply to make further expeditions easier. The lab didn't know your exact time of arrival, after all - they could probably wait a day if you had more pressing business. |

Tasogare gave a deep breath and stretched. Being stuck on a private plane for a long flight was tiresome. Before him was Ayer, a coastal city. The smell of brine was new to Taso, a strange new smell much different from his suburban living. People seemed to move about quickly at least, human life was always in such a rush in the city and he knew little different from it. Taso brought his arms down to his sides and glanced about. Here was a good a place as any to meet his new traveling partner. Professor Oak was generous in giving him a Pokémon to assist him in his journey, a species he needed more data on. Taso brought his hand to his belt and grabbed the Pokeball which hung there. he gave it a toss, and it promptly opened in midair along its midsection, throwing out a beam of energy which materialized into matter, a Pokémon which goes by Snubbull. "Snubbull Snub Snub." Snubbull faced his new trainer, his face seemed somewhat discontent but Taso would soon realize that his face normally looked thus. Snubbull's life went well after he was captured, an old man as he recalled had battled him and knocked him out quickly. When he next saw the light of day the old man was friendly and provided delicious berries and human made food. Snubbull was not averted to humans, he had seen what power they could possess as he watched other wild Pokémon lose to them. Snubbull was smart, but he decided he could place his trust in a human if the human could fight well. If not, well, he'd find his way to escape and make out for his own or find a more worthy human. Snubbull looked up to his Trainer, unfazed by the strange outfit which he wore. He wasn't a young-ling, that much was good. Taso looked at the strange pink Pokémon which spoke his name, as he was fortunate to do so otherwise Taso would have no idea. He was small but not overly so. He seemed calm, Taso decided he would explain his current situation to him. "Greetings Snubbull, Proffessor Oak entrusted your care to me so that you might experience something a little more exciting than life in a laboratory. I am Tasogare Tajin, Pokémon Trainer. I have been given the task to assist Pokémon Research by feeding the data I find back to the Pokémon Researchers. Our current goal is to move to the town of Riverwood, where we can find the renowned Professor Hayley." Snubull heard the word Riverwood and was somewhat confused, he learned much of the cities of humans nearby where he lived in the wild but this one was not one he had heard. "Snubbull?" Taso thought for a second, thinking about what he would question. "Do ask about Riverwood?" Snubull nodded, "Snub" "Yes, Riverwood. We are in a foreign region, called Tohea. I don't know much more than you do about it." "Snubbull" "So go we meet this Professor, then we make out on our own capturing more Pokémon and going where we may. Perhaps we'll even take up the Gym Challenge if we get strong enough. How does it sound to you?" Snubull took a step back and looked at Taso, nodding. "Snubbull" This made Taso relieved, he needed a cooperative team in order to battle, if Snubbull didn't trust him he would have a difficult time of things. "So, for us to battle together I need to know your potential. What exactly can you do?" Snubbull was waiting for this. He wanted to show off his impressive array of moves that other Pokémon cannot match at his age. Snubbull, after all, are born with a great number of attacks all battle-ready. Snubbull got ready, his mouth started crackling with electricity and he bit the air, then Snubbull jumped forward, his mouth heating up with fire and bit forward. He proceeded to jump to his left with ice in his mouth and leaned down to bite something that would be on the ground in front of him. he immediately spun around and slapped his tail on the ground, wagging it back and forth. He then jumped forward and spun in the air, his face suddenly fierce. "Snuuubbbullll!" Next he stepped back and then brought himself up on one foot, winking. "Snubbull", and finally he charged past Taso in a hurry, sliding to a stop and facing Taso, breathing hard. "Impressive, so if I have this straight you already know Ice, Thunder, and Fire attacks? On top of that you can taunt your opponent with your tail to make them more reckless, throw out a face which might it hard for them to move, but you are still good with the ladies and you can easily flee when the situation is hopeless. All are good moves and abilities, I'm glad I'm your Trainer now." Taso really was appreciative of Snubbull, already his mind was racing with the types that Fire, Electric, and Ice strike super effective against. It covered just about everything he could think of, so they can face any opponent with advantage."Snubbull" Taso could see that the effort had tired Snubbull, his vast number of moves weren't yet backed with enough stamina to pull them all off relentlessly, hopefully they would not come accross too powerful an opponent too early. "Rest up, we could end up needing your strength at a moments notice." Taso held out Snubbull's Pokeball and recalled him, a small red beam shot out and converted Snubbull back from matter to energy to rest within the environment of the Pokeball. Tasogare started moving, he had seen the Pokécenter from the air and he was close. Taso looked around with interest, those who saw him reacted in various ways but he was used to it. Some would recognize the outfit and would think him weird for dressing so, others would almost salute his choice whether they might do it themselves or not. Most just pass him off as strange, and younger children might laugh or stare. But it was this that Taso was most comfortable in, more so than wearing normal clothes. Taso came up to the Pokécenter and walked in, going to the counter. Taso greeted the nurse and proceeded with his questions.. "Hello, Nurse, I was hoping you could help me with some information. I'm new to this region and I need to find my way to Riverwood, would you know the way or where I could get a map of the region?" |

Determined Trainer

It's nice to see a trainer that thoroughly explores his Pokémon's abilities before rushing headlong into battle. It was also nice for your Snubbull, and was likely to make him trust you even more as the two of you traveled together, and the explanation of your current whereabouts and plans were even better. So far, it looked like you were on the road to being a very good trainer. Well, as far as we can tell without seeing you and your Snubbull actually fight against something, of course. But you chose to plan, rather than immediately seeking out a battle. The Pokémon Center, reassuringly similar to Pokémon Centers almost everywhere, had a pleasant, clean smell to it, and the nurse behind the counter was friendly and willing to help. "Well, let me be the first to welcome you to Tohea then," she said, smiling at you in response to your query. "As you probably know, we're in Ayer here." She pulled a slightly battered pamphlet out from a desk drawer and opened it on the counter in front of you, pointing out Ayer. "Riverwood is to the North East, up here. You have a couple options to get there, but the most direct route is to head North to Emmerslope first, and then East from there. Route 1 is just up the street to your left once you exit the building, and then you just follow the signs." Folding up the map again, she said, "You could take this with you if you really want, but you should also be able to access one through the TrainerLink with a cell phone. And the routes really are well marked. Is there anything else you need?" she asked with another smile. |
