As your ship slowly sailed closer and closer to the docks of Ayer, the captain of your ship started to make an announcement. He was going on and on about how wonderful the region of Tohea was, and that the ship was arriving on time. He then continued on about the different types of Pokémon you could catch, and to always be aware of your surroundings, and to be safe. Eventually the annoying captain stopped talking, and before you knew it, the both of you were making your way off of the ship with the rest of the crow. Making your way outside, you would see the beautiful city of Ayer. The sun sat in a place so beautiful that it seemed like someone literally painted it on. The sky was that of a light purple and blue, while the clouds shifted throughout the sky.

As you and your Ralts made your way throughout the city, you were stopped by many people asking you for money, Pokémon, and even sexual favors. Just be glad they did not who the hell you are...not that many people would even know here. If anyone would know, it would most likely be a Poke-Maniac. Or a 13 year older teenybopper. For once in your life, you were not being constantly stared at. In any case, that is considered good, and can possibly make someone feel normal for once. Maybe you could go out to places you could never have before, without actually being attacked by a single rampage of school girls.

It was better this way. You were starting a new, and not one person knew who you were. Just make sure to slip into the shadows if you see anyone holding a magazine about older trainers who have made it into the Pokémon League before. You might be recognized, and the entire reason you are here will be ruined!

After a few minutes of walking around the area, a few small Pokémon made their way in front of you. They made cute little sounds and started to skip off almost immediately. The choice was yours. If you wanted to, you could easily chase after them possibly try to catch either of them. Then fill them up with massive amounts of love. Catching Pokémon is fun and exciting, you increase their levels, and possibly end up evolving them. As you go on with your journey, you find even more and different types of Pokémon. Or decide to explore the large land of Tohea...which was pretty fun if you asked me. All in all it was your journey.

"This is it. Tohea. A place where my fame hasn't reached and no one knows my name. I'm a nobody, a rookie in the eyes of everyone. THANK GOD! Though it is a little new, I've never came to a new place with the express idea of NOT becoming famous and competing in the league..."
The wind rustled through my hair as I stood on the deck of the Milotic, the large ship that had been my home for the last couple of days. It had been a tense journey for me, as the ship held the largest group of people I had been around since I had fled all that time ago. I was constantly on the look out for fan-girls and other such public pests that I hadn't let myself relax at all. But now, with the shore looming towards me, I finally felt as though a burden was being lifted away.
I actually sighed when the captain announced that we were about to dock....then quickly zoned out as he started droning on about how wonderful the region was. Did he honestly expect no one to have researched the area before coming here? I at least had known the majority of what he had said. Thankfully though he finally shut up and the majestic ship finally docked....and the mayhem began.

"EXCUSE ME!"
..."Pardon me"...
The crowd of people trying to throw themselves off the ship was almost funny to watch, though annoyingly noisy. Although even I had to smile a little when someone fell overboard in the throng.
Fortunately however, I am a fairly sensible person and I hold back, leaving the maniacs to abandon ship first and instead deciding to call out my little Hope, my only Pokémon of this region, and indeed my first new one since Charizard had been killed.

Throwing the Pokeball in the air, I watch as the little red and white sphere spins up and opens to unleash the blinding white light that was my Ralts. She fully formed just as the sphere started its decent but before I could grab it and shrink it, the thing stopped dead in mid-air to the sound of a small giggle in my head.
"Ross you left me in there to long...I was so bored.
My little empath let out the equivalent of a Pokémon sigh, then a giggle as she hit the Pokeball off my head and let it spin into my hand with an accompanying
"Revenge!" filtering into my head.
It was almost painful.
"I'm sorry Hope, but I couldn't let you out till now, you'd have just got a sore head with so many people around throwing off their emotions."
I was technically telling the truth, Hope was still developing her powers and usually got a headache in large crowds, but apparently this didn't appease her as she still had a huffy look on her (lack of?) face as she climbed up my leg and onto my shoulder, gripping my hair just a little TO tightly as she settled herself on my unclothed shoulder. It was a warm day; my usual clothes were in my pack.

With the boat almost clear and the tiny Pokémon gripping my hair and trying to steer me, I finally take my first steps off the ship into this new area. Ayer seemed to be a small town, though beautiful, and I had to smile as I wandered around freely, shirt off and everything and yet no one annoyed me. Even Hope had started to cheer up as she started to sing softly into my head a little as we wandered, and I could feel her excitement bubbling away as well.
I wandered aimlessly for awhile, totally free and not in my usual stealthy manner, when I finally came across something of interest. Two small Pokémon, a Zigzagoon and a Hoothoot had crossed my path. EYE CONTACT MADE, WE FIGHT NOW!
Or so it would be if I actually COULD take on two Pokémon with Hope who only knew the most basic of attacks. To be very honest I didn't particularly want the Ziggy as I wasn't a fan of them, but I DID want the Hoothoot.
Though to be fair...I wouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth if I got both.

But how....
"Why don't I speak to them and see if they want to join or something? Or I could see about influencing the Ziggy-thing to run away and hide...", the thoughts came quickly as she assessed the situation; even Hope knew that to take both at the moment would be hard. Speaking to them however would be easy, and with a small nod, I set my little Pokémon down and she carefully wanders over to say hi and see about persuading them to join me, probably by telling them my sob story or something. Either that or she was gonna try and make one leave.
Though who knows if that would work?

((OOC: I'm getting back into this, bear with me as I feel this is very unpolished atm.))

The tiny Ralts departed without another word, a vague sense of satisfaction, amusement, and perhaps a little bit of mischieviousness brishing your consciousness as she broke the empathic link; a more experienced Psychic would have been able to keep it up while talking to the other Pokémon, perhaps even translate on the fly for you, but she was little more than a babe. It already took a lot of concentration to even link to you directly, and she was a Ralts, a species known to empathically bond with their trainers naturally over time. She wasn't really worrying about any of that though, apparently, a lignering sense of confidence her last remaining trace as the connection finished fading, leaving you behind with no more than your own, personal thoughts and emotions.

The Zigzagoon eyed Hope lazily, not particularly worried for the time being, but resigned to the possibility. The Hoothoot, on the other hand, was not so trusting - or lazy; take your pick - staring balefully at the toddler-esque Pokémon and chimed in with a chipper "Sup?" The Zigzagoon mumbled something that sounded suspiciously like a combination of WADDUP and IM TRYIN TO SLEEP HERE, whereas the Hoothoot, much more awake, alert, and competent - for the time being, at least - replied with a little more effort. "Good day, miss. I understand that you are the property of that trainer? I certainly hope that you are not here to apprehend us - neither my companion nor I wish to become slaves to the establishment!" Zigzagoon rolled its eyes, choking down a halfass laugh before interjecting "Ah shaddup, Special Agent Douchebag, this's good a place to be as any. If she was here to fight we're already probly be floating and eating our testicles or some shit."

Hope, completely unphased, lept into the conversation. "Yeah, pr'much. Ross - you know, the only human looking at us, the idjit probably wondering what the hell I'm saying and all - wanted me to come over and be like SUP, brainwash you two into joining or whatever." The Zigzagoon grinned and nodded, amused. Ralts continued a moment later. "But you know, I'm all about challenges and not taking the brainwashing route out, plus I mean, best I could do is probably like... man I don't even know, give you a headache at worst." The Hoothoot snorted, a sound that resembled an elephant sneezing. "I suppose, young lady. It is reassuring that you came over to talk; I was rather beginning to worry that I would need to knock some heads together. Of course," he continued, shifting slightly with a look of distaste, "I suspect that if we do not prove tractable, your trainer - Ross, was it? - will exacerbate the situation further by turning this into a battle. I would much prefer not to have to knock your head into his, miss, if it can be avoided. Such crassness."

Zigzagoon sniggered. Hoothoot snapped his head sideways fast enough to give anyone else whiplash. "And what, pray tell, is so damn funny, Rodney?" The Zigzagoon - apparently named Rodney - inclined his head towards the Hoothoot, still gazing at Ralts. "Don't be a retard, it's pretty obvious you'd tap that from how you're talking. Didn't realize you were a pedophile, Joe, man."

Joe's head, halfway returned to Hope, snapped back to Rodney fast enough to be nearly audible. "You are, of course, welcome to shut the hell up. You see? This is why we can't take you places! This is why we cant' have nice things!" The Zigzagoon was struggling, and failing, to hold back raucous laughter as he attmepted to formulate a response. "Yeahhhhhahhahaah, oh man, that was good. I need to remember that one. Sorry, uh, whatever the hell your name is, chika, he's a bit of an uptight ass sometimes, I just keep him down to earth, you know?" Joe let out a scandalized huff, shaking his head in disappointment. "Please, you just have no idea of common decency or civil conversation. AND IT'S JOSEPH, as we've BEEN over a hundred times!"

Rodney shrugged, completely unperturbed. "Yeah yeah, whatever man. So anyways, uh...?" "Hope" "Yeah, Hope. Decent name I guess." It was clear that he was a real hit with the ladies. "Anyways dude, or I guess dudette going by that name, give me a reason or four to join. I mean I aint ditchin' my bro here, he can't get rid of me that easily. Looked more like your boss man was interested in Joe here, I'd hate to feel left out, you know?" The Hoothoot, upon being named, snorted disdainfully. "Please. You'd just be lonely. And probably forget to feed yourself." Turning back to Hope, he continued. "The cretin is more or less right, though. I suppose it's possible we could be convinced, with some effort - being trainer Pokémon doesn't sound all that terrible - but it'd be a package deal, and you know... some convincing would be nice. We've got a pretty decent thing going here, why should we give that up for you two? Teamed up, we could take you on pretty well, anyways. And it would not appear that your trainer has any backup Pokémon with which to browbeat us."

Ah, diplomacy.

I couldn't help but feel a slight twinge of dread as the empathic link faded between me and my Pokémon with some last lingering emotions that would cause anyone to worry. Especially when the Pokémon giving off the emotions was Hope, who was still not completely happy with me for keeping her cooped up in her Pokeball for so long...BUT there was nothing I could do. Fighting two Pokémon at a time, which was what seemed likely if I was to try, was not something I could particularly manage at this time what with Hope being to young to harness ANY of her more destructive attacks. A fight with one of them would be handy, but not both. The two before me looked more than capable of working in a team, something that would work out in my favour if I was to fight in more double battles.
At this thought, I couldn't help but become more interested in BOTH of the Pokémon...

The chatter of Pokémon quickly brought me back to attention as I watched my little Ralts have what seemed to be an animated conversation between the Ziggy and Hoothoot. In fact it was almost humorous to watch, the banter seeming to fly back and forth between the two I was interested in and not even involving hope so much. Although I couldn't help but notice the glances at me becoming more and more frequent, and in all honesty, I was starting to get itchy feet. Hope was in a sassy mood with me, she would do as I asked but in her own way that would probably end up with me humiliated. Just what were they saying!

Hope was on the verge of buckling with laughter as she watched the banter between the two, Rodney and Joe, as she had quickly learned. This was actually one of her first times dealing with other Pokémon, since her mother was a SUPER GOD PSYCHIC and a tad over-protective she didn't have many friends growing up. They were all too afraid. Now however she was watching some owl and weird looking thing called a Ziggy, least so she thought from Ross, banter back and forth like a pair of comedians. Hope actually had no idea what comedians were, but it seemed an appropriate word. And she couldn't help but smile inwardly as she realized her precious Ross could understand none of it. She'd probably fill him in eventually, but for now she could feel just a touch of confusion coming from him, albeit weak from the lack of focus, but it was still enough to cause her joy. Her mood with him wouldn't last, but while it did she was going to enjoy it.

A break in the banter quickly made the small empath realize that she was expected to answer at this point, or at least she hoped this was the case, considering that for the last five minutes she had tried to speak and gotten no where due to the endless chatter. With a glance back at Ross, she quickly decided the best way to persuade them was to inform them of his story.
"Well, I can say for certain that Ross wants you both, especially when he realizes how funny you two are together and how well you will probably work together. And yes, I know you two could probably beat us up...I am not powerful enough yet to float you in the air and make you eat each other or anything. Though I've seen my mum do that. It was funny.
I can tell you that Ross is the most caring human I have ever met, even though I haven't actually met any. He saved my life awhile ago, it was how we met. It was so brave of him; he tried to fight off a pack of Mightyena with their pups who were trying to eat me! He didn't even have any help, he just used a stick. They almost killed him...till my mum appeared...she was a little angry. Poor dog..."

Taking a breath her, the little Pokémon quickly made sure she wasn't boring her two possible friends, (she wasn't...least so she thinks) before continuing her tale.

"Beyond that, you will never be hungry with Ross, you will get to travel, he rarely keeps his Pokémon in those silly ball things and you can be assured he will treat you both well. This can’t be said for every person, some of whom would catch you both without a care in the world!
I doubt he will catch you without your consent cos he can't force you...so the choice is yours. All he has to do is put you both in a ball for a few seconds, then he will bring you out. Plus I get to have new friends!

Um....what does "tap that" mean....?"

Then, was a small smile, she backs up to reconnect with Ross for a few seconds to quickly inform him of everything that has been done before turning her full attention back on Rodney and Joe.

The link reappeared quickly between me and Hope as she informed me of what had been said before it faded just as fast as it was created. All I could do was wait and see what happens....

((OOC: Not sure I like the style I used in this, but I'll see what happens. God I am so rusty >.< ))/color]

"Yeah I'm not realllly a big fan of dealing with huge balls all the time, though I'm pretty sure Joe is into that kind of thing." To his credit, the Hoothoot managed to only choke on his rage rather than spewing it forth in a stream of vitriol. Rodney ignored him and continued a moment later. "Travel doesn't sound so bad I guess, I mean we can do that now, but then we'd have to deal with trainers trying to catch us all the time and I mean... shit, man. Might be less of a chore to already be trainer Pokémon. Just so no one else can catch us, y'know?"

Joe chimed in a few moments later, after a short period of thought. Unsurprisingly, he ignored his companion. Dysfunctional relationships HELL YEAH. "Well, I suppose he doesn't seem like a completely terrible sort. Those blasted mutts can be quite the nuisance sometimes, why I remember back in 'Nam..." Ziggy interrupted, clearly not in the mood for this. "Okay, dude. One? You were never IN 'Nam for god's sake, would you shut the hell up about that. Two, you DITCHED ME the last time a Growlithe tried to eat me, don't even start this shit." Hoothoot, feathers ruffled, retorted immediately. "To scout the situation, you cretin! I returned almost immediately after making sure there were no reinforcements or ambushes, and helped you take the cur out of action! Some of us actually possess tactical acumen, not the idiocy you exhibit!"

Slightly more inured to their banter after the initial exchange a minute ago, Hope interjected. "Well, he's in really good shape, he could probably punt a Poochyena pretty well. Or he'd be a good meatshield." Rodney sniggered shamelessly, a grin breaking over his features. "Free food sounds good too, not so hot on the Pokeball thing though. Now when you say 'rarely,' how rarely are you talking...? And how does... not accepting commands work? Like if he wants me to go use Selfdestruct or whatever shit, I mean I don't trust him yet, IF I was to come along it'd take a bit of time. Also is he actually a good tactician? I think I'd rather just, you know, be able to know that if he wants me to go chew on some giant rock, there's a freakin good reason for it."

Hoothoot nodded, apparently satisfied to let Rodney do most of the talking. "I suppose free food and travel doesn't sound too terrible, and you seem to like him well enough. I will admit to the same reservations about battle, though; I happen to rather like it, personally, though my companion is rather a lazy ass, much more suited to be a doormat than a lethal flying buzzsaw of death. If I am to be in the forefront of combat, though, I would indeed much prefer to have a trainer I can trust, you understand. What about this... 'Ross' is impressive enough to excuse my potentially giving him my trust?"

Well, at least they were amenable to the idea. This might not be as difficult as it could have been had they proved intractable, though there was clearly a lack of trust going around.

"There are some really nasty trainers out there who would catch you without a care in the world and just trade you, sell you or even just breed you till you are dead from exhaustion. Ross told me all this once when someone tried to steal me. He hurt them...a lot. It was only a few days after I had decided to join him, he had gone in for a shower and some lunatic broke into his room with a camera to take a picture of him naked! Of course I tried to defend him, but I am not really strong yet and the lunatic knocked me out and started to carry me away. I'm a psychic though, and even unconscious I still possess a little of my telepathic powers and I alerted Ross who came running out naked and seriously knocked the bad man around. Silly man got a picture though before he ran away.
That was when Ross explained all the bad things in the world to me; since I had always been with my mother I didn't know it could be so bad."

Hope gave a small sniff at this point, clearly reliving the memory of almost been stolen. She had found out the story from me of course, after I had saved her and the events had made her a little wary when she is alone or around to many strangers. That's normally why she would have a constant link with me.

I was still standing watching the events carefully, my little Hope chatting away to the two Pokémon who would hopefully become my newest team members. I had realized already how well the two of them would work in a team, so it wasn't even just the one of them I wanted now, it was both. It was also having a nice effect on Hope, she was laughing and smiling along with them and it was almost comical to watch the two seemingly banter back and forth with each other. It was a pity I could not understand.
I had to admit to myself though I was starting to get a little edgy. Standing around for to long attracted attention, attention merited investigation and investigation normally resulted with burst eardrums. Not something I was in the mood for.

"As for the Pokeballs, Ross never puts me in mine unless I get knocked out or injured or anything. And even then he'd more likely carry me; he doesn't really like enslaving me into the thing. Free food, water and board also come with this exclusive offer. Accepting commands....well generally Ross expects me to obey what he asks of me, however he is not stupid. Not totally anyway. He wouldn't have you use silly moves at the wrong time. Like for example....lighting on a giant rock or such.
You can trust him, believe me, I wouldn't be with him if you couldn't, and I know these things. He has a good heart, though it is closed off at the moment due to the trauma of his past and because he likes men instead of woman. He is very famous and came here for some peace and quiet, and to make new friends.
He won't force you to come with us....but I would like it....and I can tell he would as well. It is up to you."

It was with this that little Hope backed up a little, mainly to establish a link with me and fill me in but also to give the two Pokémon a little privacy in deciding matters.
Where as I was just standing there unable to do anything but watch....if they agreed to join I'd catch em then call them out and do the usual introductions and such. I wouldn't make it obvious I wanted to head out the city, but I did want to make a move.

"You know what? What the hell. I'm in. It sounds kinda fun, I guess, and Joe is probably already all over this shit. I swear, you mention the word "battle" and he's all over you like a two dollar whor""RODNEY. THIS IS WHY WE CAN'T HAVE NICE THINGS." The Zigzagoon, needless to say, didn't even bother to look like he cared. "Yeahyeah whatever. So anyways just tell the dude he can smack us with his balls, and-snrgh. Heh. Balls. Hehehe." He trailed off, sniggering immaturely, while Joe rolled his eyes - and head - in disgust. It was an interesting display, given that he rotated horizontally rather than vertically - his head had easily traversed 270 degrees before he turned back.

"Fine. Whatever. Let us get this chicanery on the road, as you no-good hoodlums say." "Show, man, it's show. Not chicanery, sh""Not important. Anyways. If I may recommend that you ask your trainer to pelt Rodney here with the Pokeball rather than just catching him, that would be splendid. Perhaps a tire iron..." Zigzagoon was still sniggering, and Hoohoot was torn between trying to be polite and not ignore Hope while simultaneously looking for an opportunity to peck his obnoxious friend right between the ears. Hope took it as a good enough excuse to retreat, reconnecting to Ross in order to inform him of the two Pokémon's respective decisions. Decision, really, given that they had both agreed on the same thing .

On the periphery, though, a few people had watched the exchange, slightly mystified at the level of talking, rather than battling, that was going on. None of them recognized you, that much was obvious, but standing around much longer was going to draw attention - and attention, while flattering, was apparently not to your liking for the time being. Neither of your new partners needed any healing, so you were free to wander wherever your feet might take you. Just show them a good time, mmh?

[didn't bother color-coding. the duo is now under your control, and loyal enough, joining at happiness 3 duo to befriending. adding both of them to profile now. congrats!]

I couldn’t help but smile when Hope informed me that I now had two new Pokémon. And I even laughed as the story was relayed back to me through her, though I'm certain some of it had been exaggerated. Because I am fairly certain I had not seen Arceus appear and degree that the two, Rodney and Joe, had to join me.... Though the God of Pokémon could probably become invisible if he wanted to....
Also, apparently there was now a gay Hoothoot in the team. Or was it the Zigzagoon?
ALL the same however, they were now part of the team and I was raring to go. Hope on the other hand....had fallen asleep draped across my shoulder. My now tanned and even sexier shoulder. I am not vain or anything but even I had to admit that the tan suited me.

It took me all but a few minutes to capture the Rodney and Joe and then release them. Then just a few moments more to be sniffed, searched and interrogated by the two, despite being unable to understand them and not even having my universal translator awake. Though she did inform me that apparently I was hot. Who said it will remain a mystery though, as she was half asleep. Or at least pretending to be. How she could be tired after CHATTING is beyond even the greatest scientific minds.
I was mostly ready to go, though I had a few things to tell my latest additions. Ground rules so to speak. The general do's and don'ts of being a trainer Pokémon that wasn't kept in a ball...

"Ok guys welcome to the team. Hope as told me your names and such, and as you know I'm Ross. I am not your master; I'd like to think it more being your friend, though I do expect a certain level of co-operation. Rodney, you may fly around as you please as long as you do not go out of my sight. If you see any other Pokémon, you could let Hope know or come back and tell me and I might go see about catching it. Joe, just don't go to far ahead either, and see if you can find any random stuff on the ground that may be useful. Anyways, let's go guys."

I think they acknowledged the rules. I hoped they did at least. Seriously, how does ANY trainer manage without a psychic to translate all this stuff? Though to their credit they did stay pretty close as I walked through the city to a Pokémart, bought myself $150 worth of Pokeballs then resumed course for the outskirts to Route 1 as a nearby sign informed me. Ten minutes into the route and I was already starting to relax when I noticed a rather cute guy kicking the crap out of a Pokémon...but allowing someone else to catch it. Wierd...I couldn't help but watch.

((OOC: I bought however many I can buy for the amount, couldn't be bothered waiting for a ref just for that. I would like to bump into Exer, but it needs to be accidental as we have no proper reason to be looking for one another. Thanks.))

Thusly and therewith we arrive at your current location, which is to say starting down the road that is Route One. The gate between Ayer and Route One had been pretty busy, as usual, but you managed to get through without anyone drop-kicking you or slaughtering you with psychically-edged socks, which was probably a pretty good thing by most standards. Unless you were into that whole S&M thing, but that's another story entirely, and not completely relevant to the current situation. Point was, you were just walking down Route One like a pimp, your fifty million Pokémon just hoppin' and bumpin' down along after you - or riding you like a carnival midget in Hope's case - without a care in the world. Life was good, you'd just gotten a Hoothoot, some trainer killing the shit out of some floating hate-sunflower-seed with fire, because honestly why did I even wonder if he'd use anything other than fire, and then suddenly Bidoof everywhere.

The girl that was standing near the boy almost started to scream as one of the furry horrors brushed up against her leg, but decided against it as her face twisted from surprise into goofy adoration. You were still a good thirty feet away and you could still easily hear her shriek in joy as she picked one up, hugging the very confused critter. "OKAY I CHANGED MY MIND I WANT THIS ONE." She looked at it pensively. "It also looks less on-fire, which is always a good trait for a Pokémon to have. Not being on fire that is. Being on fire is NOT a good trait. Wait. WAIT. I got this. I GOT THIS."

Whatever idea she had was pretty much irrelevant for the time being, because two Bidoof were approaching you and a few more were staring suspiciously at the other trainer, who seemed to be the only one of the two who actually had any Pokémon. Perhaps the girl's boyfriend?
