Making your way over to the small grove of trees, a few Zigzagoon and Sentret rushed past you, clearly trying to escape whatever it was that you were about to encounter. What could be so awful or terrifying that sent wild critters scrambling away for safety? The explosions had stopped for the moment, but everything seemed to go quiet as the wildlife had either fled or fallen quiet in an attempt to hide. There were no bird calls, no rodent chitters: just the rustle of grasses moving against one another, the susurrus of the tree leaves suddenly seeming louder in the absence of other noises. Stepping into the shade of the ring of trees, you found what seemed to be the small body of water you thought you'd seen earlier - not too far from the path, but far enough away that it wasn't packed with trainers trying to find something right off the beaten path. Instead, it was filled with just one trainer and his balls. Two Voltorb sat on either side of the lake, gathering their power and glowing a faint yellow hue - apparently using a charge attack to regenerate their energy. Their trainer was in between them along the bank, equal distance from either, but calling out orders to both. "That's right, you've almost got it, Shock! Awe, keep trying to really focus - you're getting distracted! Channel your energy though - Um, can I help you?" he asked, interrupted as he noted your arrival. The trainer seemed irritated, waving a hand at both Pokemon who hummed electronically and discontinued whatever they were doing. Just... what WERE they doing? Thankfully, you didn't have to ask, as he wasn't stupid enough to realize that he wasn't going to draw attention with the little displays he'd been putting on a moment ago. "If you're wondering about the noise, I'm sorry. I hope I didn't upset any of your Pokemon, I thought this would be off the track enough not to bother anyone. I'm trying to train Shock and Awe to learn new moves," he explained, smiling doggedly as he gestured to one, then the other in introduction. "Unless you feel like helping?" he inquired, lifting one eyebrow in an unspoken challenge. It was true: Pokemon who used their training moves IN BATTLE would learn far more quickly than those who just practiced alone, but battling himself was clearly something he hadn't stooped to yet. Ripples and small waves moved across the surface of the water between the two Pokemon, apparently deserted. Or not, as a nearly unconscious Bidoof rose to the surface, flailing its legs upside-down in the air before swimming back down into the depths again for protection. Apparently it had to come up to breathe! Scowling at the appearance, the mysterious trainer commanded both of his Pokemon, "Shock, Awe, teach that Bidoof a lesson! Use self-destruct one more time. Target practice isn't as over as I thought!" So he was using the pond ...as target practice? That wasn't very nice, although to be fair all trainers really did was run around and beat up wild creatures then pretend to be the best of friends. If you didn't step in quickly - or step BACK, more appropriately, it looked like the poor Bidoof was going to be toast, or even you, if you got caught in the blast. ![]() Shock, Level 7 14/24 20%Status: --- Learning Selfdestruct ![]() Awe, Level 8 19/26 16%Status: --- Learning Selfdestruct Versus ![]() Bidoof, Level 9 ![]() 4/28 78%Status: Paralyzed (-2 Speed) |

As Joel made his way towards the area, he noticed a bunch of Sentret and Zigzagoon rush by him as if it were the apocalypse. Perhaps it was, and perhaps Joel was just heading right into the heart of the end of the world. But he surely doubted that such a thing would happen in this type of environment. Well, he hoped it would not happen. He was really hesitant to continue walking towards his targeted destination. If it were not for Seno's never ending curiosity, he was not sure if he would make it there or not. Eventually, he walked into a clearing where he noticed the small river became a pond. Nothing seemed completely out of the ordinary, until he noticed two Voltorb and a trainer attacking the water. It appeared as if the male trainer was attempting to teach his Pokémon a move. Joel never knew one could train a Pokémon a move before it was ready to learn it. He figured he should try that one day. But today wasn't that day, or maybe it was, we shall see. The young man and his Squirtle were confused as to why all of the Pokémon were running away. Was this man hurting all of the Pokémon in the area for his training purposes? Joel did not know how he felt about the situation. Yeah, trainers did go around beating Pokémon up and then shoving them into a ball, only to use them to get beat up more by other Pokémon. So what was different about this? As he continued to watch, he noticed that the trainer's stronger Pokémon were attacking the water, which could in fact contain tons of water Pokémon. Now, thinking deeper into this, all of those Pokémon were trapped in a small body of water. He highly doubted that any could flee into the river stream without the trainer noticing and attacking them. They were all probably frightened, injured, or unconscious. Joel started to dislike this trainer a little bit. As the trainer took note of Joel and Seno's presence, he started to speak to them."Um, hello. No worries, you were not really disturbing me. But I did notice tons of Pokémon completely afraid and running away. Don't you think you're hurting them..?" "Squirtle, Squir! Seno added in his agreement to Joel's statement. True, Seno did belong to Joel, but he was still a Pokémon. And still wanted to defend his kind. Joel did not seem to mind this, they both had an agreement that hurting Pokémon like that was foul. Think of all the trapped water Pokémon! Joel then proceeded to speak as the trainer and Joel continued to have their conversation. "Ah, I thought that is what you were doing. It was pretty loud. Don't you think it's wrong though...? To be aiming all of your attacks in a small pond? What about all the little Pokémon...? You want to battle me...I don't know..." Seno looked at Joel with a slight glare. Was he attempting to befriend the enemy? Seno would clearly punish him later for this! But now was not the time for that. As they were speaking, a wild Bidoof arose from the small pond. It had almost seemed as if it were on the verge of dying. Likely from the doings of the Voltorb. And then the trainer said the one thing, that removed any of Joel's hesitance. He wanted to teach the Bidoof a lesson. What was the damn lesson he could teach it? Not to live? Joel necessarily did not care much for the Pokémon's species, since it always seemed so random. But he knew he could not let this Pokémon get hurt. He had to save it somehow, before the Pokémon was greatly injured. Without even thinking, Joel quickly ran up and almost threw a Pokeball at the wild Bidoof, but decided not too. If he caught the Pokémon, then it would not be free anymore. He had to make sure it did not get injured. Joel quickly pondered ways in keeping it safe, and eventually figured that attacking the Voltorb would disrupt them from learning self-destruct. "I'm sorry...I can't watch you annihilate this poor Pokémon. I'll accept your challenge if you wish. Two on two sounds about right. Seno, Opoh, I choose you!" Seno jumped forward, preparing to battle as Joel released Opoh from his Pokeball. Apparently Opoh already knew what was going on and was geared up to battle. It seemed as if a lot of Pokémon enjoyed defending each other."Opoh, I want you to use Yawn on the Voltorb named 'Awe.' Then Tackle it, please be as fast as you possibly can! After that, can you please, please, Tackle it one more time. Seno, I want you to use a Tail Whip on 'Awe' before Opoh can start tackling it. Then while Opoh is about to start tackling, I want you to go and Tackle 'Shock'. After that I want you to use another Tackle on the same Pokémon. I know both of you can do this, please, please, pleaseeee get this right. I'm counting on you guys to show him not to hurt Pokémon like this." After Joel gave his Pokémon their orders, he shifted his attention to the trainer. He felt a little over dramatic for resorting to this, but he had to do something. He could not let a trainer destroy a Pokémon like that. He thought he should say something to the trainer. "No hard feelings, I understand that you are training your Pokémon. But I do not condone to harming Pokémon like this. I do accept your battle, I'm hoping this is worth it." Joel watched as the events started to unfold. He had no idea how any of this was going to play out, but as optimistic as he would hope to be, he hoped it would play out alright and no one would get hurt. He wanted to teach this trainer a lesson. Joel gave all of his faith into his Pokémon and hoped that they would succeed. [Basically: Seno is using 'Tail Whip' on 'Awe' and then two 'Tackles' on 'Shock.' Opoh is using 'Yawn' on 'Awe,' and then two 'Tackles' on 'Awe.' This is interesting! :D] Edited by Exer, Sep 19 2010, 02:42 PM.

"STOP!" The trainer yelled, halfway looking at you as he spoke to both his Voltorb. "Let the Bidoof go, we've got bigger fish to fry." Both Shock and Awe looked quite disappointed. Nevertheless, the Pokémon dispelled their Charges and calmed themselves, taking their eyes off of the helpless critter. The Bidoof quickly swam to shore as fast as humanely possible and climbed out of the Hell she'd been in for God only knows how long. The trainer you confronted watched as his victim ran off and, when she was out of sight, he turned to face you. "So you want to battle?" He smirked. "Do you want to avenge that pathetic beast?" The boy began laughing under his breath, scoffing at the thought of your proposal. "You two, come here." The Voltorb both began rolling towards their master, gaining both speed and momentum as the seconds ticked away. It wasn't before long that all four Pokémon, Shock and Awe; Seno and Opoh, were facing each other in a dead locked battle sort of stare, awaiting commands from either side. "Remember, you asked for this!" The trainer laughed almost devilishly, motioning for his Voltorb to charge forth, towards your beloved creatures. "MAKE THIS SESSION WORTHWHILE YOU GUYS, GIVE IT YOUR ALL AND MOOOOOORE!" He roared passionately, quite possibly finding some sort of sadistic pleasure out of this entire ordeal. Both Seno and Opoh wasted no time in beginning their assault: the Squirtle moved first, taking a few steps toward the opposition before whipping his tail around in some sort of a distraction. Opoh, on the other hand, did what he does best: yawned. It caught the attention of Awe, as it was noticeably startled. However, this all occurred while the two Voltorb were well on their way towards your Pokémon, already possessing quite a bit of momentum behind their galloping. It didn't take long for them to come within a foot or two of both Seno and Opoh and, when they were within striking distance, the two spheres began glowing an extremely bright, white aura that enveloped their entire body. A loud, piercing, extremely sharp hum was being emitted by both Pokémon. "NOW!" Only a split second after they received their commands, the two Voltorb spontaneously exploded in a shock wave of pure energy that rocked the very foundation of the ground you were standing on. The cloud of debris and dust and energy and light covered the immediate area, blinding you for the duration of the explosion. Silence filled the air for a brief moment before a light chuckle broke through. The debris cleared and the aftermath of whatever was left of the battle was now visible: all four Pokémon lay on the floor, unconscious, and probably severely injured for the time being. The Squirtle lay motionless; the Slowpoke as well. Shock and Awe were both out cold, with no life to their machine like physique. "I would call that a draw, wouldn't you?" The trainer mocked, continually chuckling at how clever he thought he was. In his eyes, he saw success - he got what he needed. Granted, it was at your expense, but he didn't much seem to care. "Alright, Shock, Awe, it's about that time we leave, aye? You," He pointed at you dramatically. "Thanks for the help, huh? I guess I owe you." ![]() Shock, Level 7 0/24 0%Status: Fainted, Learned Selfdestruct! ![]() Awe, Level 8 0/26 0%Status: Fainted, Learned Selfdestruct! ![]() Seno, Level 7 0/24 0%Status: Fainted Opoh, Level 6 0/22 0%Status: Fainted Spoiler: click to toggle

Joel watched as both sides prepared for battle. The more and more the trainer spoke, the more he wanted to beat him. The trainer spoke about Pokémon as if they were just things to destroy and go on their way. Sure, all trainers beat up Pokémon, but most of them do not have that evil intention of actually wanting to cause harm to them. It was just the cycle of catching and battling Pokémon, to fight them. But he was more than that. He seemed to have a dark heart as a trainer. As if he did not really appreciate Pokémon, but merely saw them as pawns. He hated people like that. To Joel, all Pokémon had a purpose, and sure most of them did not deserve to be beaten for experience, but Joel somewhat felt bad for beating them up. This trainer did not care one ounce. He enjoyed causing them pain. Both Seno and Opoh started their move commands, followed by Shock and Awe. It all seemed to happen with one split second. They were head to head, and BAM. Two seconds later, everyone was unconscious. Alright, not technically two seconds, but it felt like the equivalent. Joel's eyes immediately grew with worry as both of his Pokémon lay motionless. Quickly responding, he returned both Pokémon into their respective balls. It was weird having Seno in his ball, he was barely ever in it. The trainer then started to speak, re-catching Joel's attention. "I guess, a draw it is. You owe me, huh? Well how would you go about owing me? And, you're welcome, I guess?" You could clearly tell Joel was not too happy about the situation. But at least the poor Bidoof got away, though both of his Pokémon had to suffer. He wondered if Opoh hated him for capturing him and putting him through this...nah. Opoh probably did not even know what was going on to be honest. Seno might be a little peeved when he wakes up though...he knew he was going to hear it. Joel would wait to see what exactly the guy meant by 'owing' him, and how he would 'pay' him back. After that, he would say his possible goodbyes, and then make his way towards the Pokémon Center, once more. Joel would then heal up his Pokémon, and immediately release Seno out of his ball. Apologizing to Seno for allowing the event to happen, and then making their way back towards Route 1. Joel decided from now on that he would attempt to stay away from situations like that. Unless a Pokémon was in danger again, then he would not be able to hold himself from jumping in. When he would re-reach Route 1, he would start looking for Pokémon, on his way towards Emerslope. Keeping his eyes open for all types of Pokémon, his completely healed Pokémon were surely ready for their next battle. [This post is awkward haha, different tenses. BLAH, sowwiz! :D] |

The trainer laughed mirthlessly as he walked away, not bothering to even turn to face you. "Owing you? Eh, if you want a rematch sometime, give me a call. Name's Navel. Probl'y in the directory soemwhere, it's not exactly a common name. Not givin you the keys to the city though, if you were hoping for free shit." He waved briefly before leaving easy earshot, clearly not particularly worried about your response or butthurt or really anything. Well, flippant or no, asshole or no, at least he wasn't Team Rocket or actually a "bad" guy per se, just callous and - apparently - quite competent. A rematch later on might actually prove to be decent training, if he didn't just Selfdestruct on you... again. The Pokémon center trip was unremarkable. You didn't run into the trainer again, no one seemed particularly interested in talking, and the actualy healing process went flawlessly, no bugs or errors or issues popping up. Almost boring. Still, at least it let you get back to your actual journey fairly quickly, and the sun was still fairly high, perhaps early-mid afternoon ish, by the time you reached the outskirts of Route One again. Emerslope was not actually visible, but the slowly-ascending elevation in the distance certainly suggested that you were indeed on the proper route. Oddly, there was no one to be seen in the immediate vicinity, though this was less because of something horrible happening than just the whim of fate; there were still a few wild Pokémon around here and there, doing their thing. Few small skirmishes here and there, a Poochyena poking around, a Growlithe doing its thing, and a Sentret looking right at you from two dozen meters away. Also, there was a Rattata furiously humping your leg, thundering thrusts every half-second like clockwork as it attempted to penetrate your pants in perhaps the creepiest way possible. Have fun with that. TOP PERCENTILE lvl5 lvl6 lvl2

As Joel made his trip back towards the location from the Pokémon Center, he found himself somewhat rushing. He did not really take in as much environment as he did before. He kind of just wanted to get right back to where he was previously, before the whole Voltorb incident. He was still a little peeved that such a thing happened. The guy was also a douche on top of it. He could not believe how someone could be so cruel and want to do such a horrible thing to a Pokémon and get enjoyment out of it. That was sickening to hear. The boy continued to walk, his hair waving with the slight breeze. The sun was shining brightly upon them as they re-entered the route. He thought that he should have at least bought some items before he left, and thought that he should do that the next time he's in town. For now, it was Pokémon battling time. He needed to boost Seno and Opoh's confidence up. The loss they just took was a bad one, but he hoped they would get through it easily. As they continued to walk, Joel tripped over something sticking out of the ground, and fell face first. Seno could not help himself from laughing horribly at the event. Joel felt so happy that his Pokémon would laugh at his misery. Though none of it mattered the second he noticed a shining disk sticking out of the dirt. Was that what he thought it was? A...technical machine?! (Rain Dance) Joel could not believe it, it was practically his lucky day. Well, not really, considering his ass just got owned by two crappy Pokeball look a-likes. But he wasn't going to go into that again. "Alright Seno, let's see what this TM does! I'm going to have to put you back into your ball for a second." The boy held out Seno's Pokeball and returned him to the little machine. He then inserted the technical machine into his Squirtle's Pokeball and watched as the data started to combine. The ball started to feel a little warm, as it finally processed. Feeling accomplished, Joel released his Pokémon with a sense of curiosity. Seno knew a new attack, and Joel wanted to use it immediately...except he was not exactly sure on what attack it was! As if the gods heard Joel's current prayer, and spawned a few random Pokémon in front of them. His hopes for confidence boosting grew the second he saw them. There was a Sentret, Poochyena, Growlithe, and a...what..the..f*ck. Why the hell was a Rattata humping the shit out of his leg? What the hell was going on?! Joel quickly swung his leg back and forth, attempting to kick Rattata off of his leg. The bitch was crazy! Joel wanted to battle all of them, to raise his Pokémon's confidence. Though one may ask, what makes him different than the trainer he just battled? Well Joel does not get any enjoyment out of hurting Pokémon. Honestly he feels bad for doing it, and if it were not for the fact that they could heal up easily at the Pokémon Center, then he most likely would not battle anymore. Joel honestly felt for Pokémon. He felt as if each Pokémon had its own purpose. From being battled, captured, befriended, etc. They always had a purpose. Joel looked at Seno, and nodded to him. He then opened up Opoh's Pokeball and released him as well. "It's go time guys. Seno, I want you to use the move you just learned (Rain Dance). Let's find out what it is. After that, I want you to use two Bubble attacks on the Poochyena. Opoh, I want you to use Yawn on the Poochyena while Seno is using the new move he just learned. Then, I want you to use two Water Energy (20 BP) attacks. One aimed towards the Growlithe, and the other aimed towards the Sentret." Joel felt as if he had a pretty good strategy...hoping that the move he just taught Seno was useful and not useless. This was going to be a semi decent battle...if he won. |

As you issued your Pokemon their orders, they immediately set into motion to carry them out, wasting not a moment's breath. They must have been cognizant of your recent repeated trips into town and back out toward the edge of town, and as the sun began to move towards the west it was easy to see that time was passing as they day progressed. In a few hours, it would be night, and being out on the road would alone would be a most dangerous proposition. In any case, the move that had been contained on the now worthless disc you had found was obviously a curious one, as your turtle-like partner began to harness the energy within his carapace. Glowing a pale blue around the edges, Seno closed his eyes and moved with the wind, allowing it to take him where it wanted to go - but crafting it as he did so. The water energy he built up slipped into the atmosphere around him, and it was almost as though a wave of slight dampness and humidity passed over you for a brief second before... something actually happened. A billowing rain-cloud began to swirl into existence a few yards above the turtle, roiling black with moisture that began to sprinkle onto the dirt below. The droplets started out small, just little glittering jewels of condensed moisture and liquid that began to bathe the earth until it started to pick up momentum, the winds in the surrounding area buffeting this way and that as the natural weather was toyed with. Clouds of dust formed just outside the proximity of the localized rain-storm, twisting this way and that as the air didn't know where to go - but here in the thick of it, everything was just busy getting wet. Sentret raised itself up on her tail, ears perked up in alarm at the sudden change as she searched this way and that for the cause. Panicking, she darted away into the grass, her tiny paws carrying her to cover (and driness) faster than you could track. Oh well, one got away, no big deal, right? Poochyena sniffed the breeze likewise, sensing danger, and reared her head to the sky to loose a terrifying howl. Considering how dark it had gotten where you stood, it could almost be seen as haunting, especially when paired with the intimidating growl that the other canine let rip, baring his sharp teeth at your Pokemon as you gave your orders. Opoh layed down and began to snore slightly, opening his mouth in a broad yawn. Somehow, this actually had an effect on the Pokemon you suggested, whose eyes drooped somewhat instinctually in response, even as she tried to focus. A yawn graced her own mouth, and if she wasn't careful, she'd be sleeping before long. Running forward, Poochyena tackled the Slowpoke, admonishing the water-type for inducing such fatigue in her. Uncertain if that was the cause or not, she proceeded to churn the increasingly muddy earth beneath her feet as she ran to tackle Seno as well, knocking him back a few yards. He managed to stay upright, two trenches in the mud designating the path he had slid. Blue lips parting, he loosed a retaliatory stream of water-energy infused bubbles, bursting painfully on the dark grey hyena's forehead, causing her to flinch and let out a whimper before snarling and standing her ground. Opoh was still just sort of... laying there. Mysteriously, however, a sphere of clear watery substance (water energy?) seemed to launch itself from the raincloud like a water balloon, landing on the increasingly damp Growlithe and causing it to growl again, licking its lips at the incentive for revenge. Growlithe had circled around, allowing the other Pokemon to be a distraction as he launched himself at Seno first, chomping down with a powerful bite attack against the turtle, before jumping at Opoh to finish the job - apparently hitting a nerve. As he bit your Slowpoke, something changed in the lazy pink Pokemon. It took a few moments, but Opoh actually stood up and tried to turn around, apparently in pain from the super-effective attack ...and then fell over, unconscious. Lowering his eyebrows at the sight of his comrade falling, Seno revenged his fellow Pokemon with another stream of bubbles aimed at the hyena. Seno wasn't quite the same at the moment either, as though the combination of adrenaline and rain had pumped him up, invigorating him and unlocking a sort of strength he never knew he had. Taking away his own limitations he was able to tap into the power that's inside, infusing his new bubble attack with renewed strength that exploded against the dark-type with enough force to literally send her flying a few feet, landing unconscious further away. Joel proceeded to watch as his small turtle started to move around with a fluid motion. Seno started to garner up energy for the move he just learned. Watching him do it made him very anxious. He was so excited to see what his prized Pokémon learned, and could not wait to use it. The boy just hoped that the move would be useful, in any possible way. As his Pokémon continued to gather energy, rain clouds started to form above them. Was his Squirtle the cause of this? That could not be. How could his little Pokémon control the weather like that? It was amazing to watch the little clouds form. Joel could tell already that the move was going to be useful. Come on, there was a cloud forming from it, it had to be useful...somehow. Seno then released the energy he was gathering, and then a few seconds later, it started to drizzle a little bit from the cloud. Joel was amazed, he could not believe what his Pokémon just did. He let out a slight "wow" losing his focus on the upcoming battle. As time progressed, the slight rain increased into heavy rain. Seno and Opoh seemed like they felt amazing from the water. Both of them not having touched water for a little while, so it felt refreshing for them. The raining water definitely gave both of his Pokémon a slight advantage in battle, unless they used anything besides a water attack. Joel could feel the pounding rain against his back, as both Pokémon prepared their moves. Seno went first and used his bubble attack on the Poochyena. Slowpoke surprisingly moved, and proceeded to follow Joel's commands. After gathering up energy, the Pokémon let out a small ball of water, aimed towards the Growlithe. The battle continued, as the Sentret ran away, and attacks were shot back and forth. When Opoh fell unconscious Joel freaked. He immediately returned his Pokémon, petting his ball and apologizing for allowing him to faint. The Growlithe was a lot stronger than he thought, he made a very large miscalculation. By the end of the first round's events, he noticed it was just Seno versus the Growlithe. The Poochyena was now laying unconscious, possibly going to drown in the heavy rain. He made a side note to catch it after telling Seno what to do. Speaking of giving commands. Joel thought of the battle plan for the second round and proceeded to tell Seno what to do. "Seno, watch it, don't let Growlithe get too close. Hit him with a Bubble attack at the perfect time. If you miss, quickly shoot another Bubble attack at him. Whatever you do, do not let the fire type hit you. I'm counting on you, you can do this!" After telling Seno what to do, he watched as his Squirtle prepared itself, watching the Growlithe. They were both staring at each other so intensely, he did not even know who was going to win. It was honestly up in the air, and Joel could not even keeps his eyes off of them, until he remembered about the little hyena. Pulling out one of his empty Pokeballs, Joel walked up to the Pokémon, avoiding both Seno and the Growlithe. He then threw the Pokeball at the Pokémon, hoping to make it a part of his team of cuteness. Plus, it seemed so bad ass, it had to join his team! After watching the Pokeball work its magic, he quickly sent his attention back to the battle. They were still circling each other, and would not break their focus. The only advantage Joel's Pokémon had over Growlithe, was that Seno knew a projectile move, whereas Growlithe didn't. If Seno just so happened to win, Joel would throw a Pokeball at the fire Pokémon as well. Joel watched nervously as the events started to unfold. What was going to be the outcome?! Battling was easy when the very environment in which you battled became part of your tactics. Although you had an upper hand against all of the wild Pokemon due to the rain that pattered down around your water types, it was still a competition between the instincts of the wild Pokemon and the honed nerve of your partners. Opoh was already taken out of the equation by an unexpected turn of events, showcasing just how unpredictable wild Pokemon could be if you didn't have all of the facts: despite controlling the weather itself for a little while, it seemed that knowledge was truly power when it came to battling. It should have been simple, as the battle wound down to these final moments. You had a water type in play against a fire type - both equally matched for level and already somewhat tired after utilizing their attacks. They had both taken their share of hits thus far; hits that were a little harder than you may have anticipated. Seno's breathing was labored as he nodded in receipt of your commands, his scaly cerulean hide glistening in the rain that seemed to grow lighter as his energy began to wane. Was it clearing up? It didn't seem to be, but the clouds still didn't seem to have the same oomph and darkness as before, even as their splattering drops continued to churn the path into dark mud beneath your feet. Gathering his energy, the Growlithe was likewise occupied, staring down the shellfish and waiting for it to make a move. The pup's legs were taut, each muscle in its body prepared for the decisive blow of the battle - ready to spring forward or dodge to the side as was appropriate. Time slowed to a crawl, the droplets hanging in the air as the wind howled through the low-lying shrubs to either side of the route, here just outside the edge of town. Then they struck. Parting his lips, Seno launched a stream of bubbles toward the ruddy colored canine, short fur dark with the absorbed moisture from the rain. With a whimper and a heavy breath he launched himself into the air, just at the last minute, avoiding the turtle's attack entirely. Eyes widening, Seno fell backward as he craned his neck to follow the parabolic arc of the dog who was so close to landing a tackling bite on the turtle when the resurgence of energy and water within him gripped at him from inside. As though his body was just a puppet for your commands, the energy responded, forming bubbles that launched again in a steady stream toward the airborne dog and exploding with vicious potential. Growlithe lay to the side, covered in mud and struggling to get up ...before collapsing, defeated. TorrentSeno Level 7, ![]() 6/24 78%Status: -1 Attack (Intimidated), TORRENT ACTIVATED. Joel watched as Seno and Growlithe proceeded to near the end of the battle. His facial expressions widened as his Pokémon missed the first bubble attack. The second that he missed, Joel assumed everything was over. He thought his Pokémon was going to lose, and he was going to miss out on a great fire type. Although it had seemed as if the Pokémon did not like him anyway. The puppy then proceeded to attempt to bite Seno, which somehow did not happen because of Seno's amazing dodging skills. And then at the last second, Seno shot out a bubble attack towards the Growlithe at the last second. This made Joel smile greatly. He was glad that he threw in the double bubble attack just in case. Because, of the single hit, the battle was now over. Seno hit him so hard, that just one attack from the beginning would have fainted it from the beginning. The boy watched as the canine fell over unconscious. After clicking his new Poochyena's Pokeball to his belt, he walked over and threw another ball at the Growlithe. The Pokémon was sucked up and captured, thus being Joel's fourth Pokémon. Joel now had a team of four Pokémon, and felt like he could take on a trainer right about now. Maybe even a gym leader! He needed to train with his Pokémon a lot more, otherwise they would not make it that far. The male then clipped the fire type's Pokeball to his belt as well and smiled widely at his water turtle. The two of them had a quick celebration and then made their way back to Ayer, due to the sun starting to drop. It was going to be very late soon, and Joel did not want to be outside during the middle of the night. The two of them started to walk back to Ayer, eventually reaching it. He quickly stopped by the Pokémart on his way to the center and grabbed three Pokeballs and one Potion. As he was leaving the mart, he handed the clerk the amount of money all of the items cost, and walked over to the center. While entering the center, he noticed a couple of trainers already preparing themselves for the night. Joel walked up to the counter and waited for Nurse Joy to take notice of him. "Hello, I was wondering if you could heal up all four of my Pokémon? And also, if you had any places I could stay for the night?" Joel would greatly appreciate if he could stay the night there. He did not prefer to sleep outside. As he waited for a response, he quickly noted the different types of trainers surrounding them. This was all so interesting. He had never been around so much Pokémon before. [Beh it sucks. Sorry.] Edited by Exer, Sep 22 2010, 10:02 PM.

Well, just look at Joel go! Not only has Rain Dance proved awesome for Seno, he also managed to catch himself two brand new Pokémon. And being a decent sort of guy, he even decided to take them back to be patched up before tossing everyone back into a battle again. Isn't that nice of him? Anyways, back into Ayer for Joel, who sensibly went downtown. Not only did this have the advantage of replenishing his inventory, but the downtown Pokémon Center was the only one with overnight rooms! As soon as he walked in, Nurse Joy waved Joel over, smiling in the eternally welcoming and cheerful way of Nurse Joys everywhere. In response to his query, she handed him a Pokeball tray, nodding. "We'll get them in tip top shape for you! If you like, you can wait here for them, or go to Room 3, on your left down that corridor, and we'll deliver them when they're ready." So now Joel had a couple options. It was a pretty calm night at the Pokémon Center so far, but there were a few people around. Aside from the ever-present Chansey that helped to staff the hospital, there was a youngster with a beat up male Nidoran, a family over on a bench nearby was playing a lively game of pattycake with their Aipom, and a very spoiled looking sort of woman was arguing at another counter with one of the nurses about her Vulpix. Seems like she was convinced the Pokémon hospital should offer a grooming service free of charge along with the usual checkup. If Joel wanted conversation, there could be some... interesting ones, for sure. And Nurse Joy was even on her way back with his Pokémon already. |

Joel smiled as he received all of his Pokémon back from the nurse. They were all healed up, and ready to play. Routinely pulling out Seno's Pokeball and releasing him from the ball, he smiled and hugged his Pokémon. He thanked him a lot for doing such a great job during the battle. The male then proceeded to release his other three Pokémon from their balls. Opoh came out first. Joel immediately knelt down and apologized dearly for allowing him to get hurt...but Opoh just sat there with a little smile on his face. His response was that of a slight "slowwww." Joel figured that his Slowpoke did not care as much for being raped during the battle. If anything, the Pokémon probably did not even remember it happened. Oh, Opoh. Following Opoh's appearance, Poochyena was up next. The little pooch immediately tackled Joel and started to growl loudly at him on top of him, nearly an inch from his face. Apparently still a little pissed off from the battle. He could feel her slobber dripping on his face. Seno nearly attacked the Pokémon, but Joel waved him off. He did not want to ruin this possible save. Joel made sure he did not look away from the Pokémon trying to kill him. He stared right into her eyes and then slowly lifted his hand in a manner that she could trust him. He apologized to her, and then slowly lifted his hand under her mouth. He once read in a magazine that if you attempt to pet a canine from above its head, it will try to attack you. But if you pet it from below, it will assume you are feeding it, and most likely will not attack you. Joel proceeded to slip his hand under the hyena's mouth and allowed her to sniff him. Her growls became a little less deadly, as she then randomly started to lick his hand. Apparently the two of them bonded, and she swore to protect him no matter what...on her own terms. Joel necessarily did not know of this...yet. He knew that he needed to name her, and make her a part of the Pokémon family he was creating. Thinking for a little bit, and brainstorming many names, he eventually picked a name. "I am going to name youuuu, Chira!" The little pooch gave out a little cheerful bark, showing her approval of the name. The canine Pokémon then slowly stepped off of him after licking Joel for centuries. The boy then proceeded to release Growlithe from the ball. Not even a second in, the fire type was already growling at him. Butttttt, Chira quickly stopped that. She tackled him instantly and gave him the only death growl. Growlithe knew not to mess with Joel, or Chira would f*ck him up. It seemed as if Chira had already created this dislike towards Growlithe, which seemed like it was going to be a problem in the future. Joel did not really get the chance to get to know Growlithe. He pet the little Pokémon here and there, but didn't really get to do much of anything else. Eventually Seno, Chira, and Growlithe started to play with each other, not necessarily friendly on Chira's part. And by not friendly, I mean Chira always tackling Growlithe in a non-playful manner. She knew better to not f*ck with Seno. Seno would rip her a new one in a second. She knew her place. Joel felt a little bad for the Growlithe he captured. He felt as if it was not going to enjoy being on his team. The constant harassing from Chira, certainly did not make anything better. If anything, she would be the primary cause the fire type would not enjoy being on the team. Joel then walked around the center a bit with Opoh, saying a hello here and there to the random trainers. It was not until the boy noticed the cutest Pokémon he has ever seen. It was a little red fox, and from his memory, it went by the name of Vulpix. Apparently the Pokémon's trainer was complaining about her Pokémon needing to be groomed. Joel could not keep his eyes off of the Pokémon. He really wanted the fox. He looked down at Opoh, who for some odd reason could not stop staring at her. This was weird, Opoh never even knew what was going on, let alone gave his attention to anyone for a long period of time. This made Joel ponder, true he did care for Opoh, but it seemed as if Opoh seemed more interested in the female than Joel. And Joel did want the Vulpix really bad. Maybe he should ask to trade Opoh for the female's Vulpix? The boy quickly thought of a way to make Opoh seem interesting for the female. After figuring out what to say, he attempted to gather her attention. "Hey, did you know that Slowpokes do not need to be groomed because of their amazing pink skin? Aren't they so cute?!" Joel pinched his Pokémon's cheek and then continued to speak. "I have an idea, my Pokémon here is pretty strong, and has amazing type advantages and a great pool of moves. He can even make Pokémon fall asleep. Would you possibly want to trade your constantly needing to be groomed Pokémon, for my amazing 24/7 groomed Pokémon?" Joel attempted to make the deal seem extremely appealing, even for someone of her standards. He just hoped she would say yes, and Joel could gain a new friend, and give Opoh to someone he would enjoy being with more. Freaking perverted pink Pokémon. What was with his Pokémon being perverted? |

Mini-Plotted You and your Pokemon made quite the commotion in the Pokemon Center. Who lets their entire team out to glomp them when right in the middle of a very busy establishment? Ah, who cares. Trainers basically run the country meaning they can pretty much do whatever they want while people turn their heads to ignore what's going on. Introduction to new Pokemon aside you clearly had another motive in mind for sticking around the Pokemon Center. The lady, probably in her late thirties-early forties with the Vulpix who was just nagging on and on about services the Pokemon Center doesn't provide was clearly your center of attention. Hoping to make a flattering enough appearance you and Opoh the Slowpoke approached, charming the lady with your charismatic personality. The lady heard what you had to say, her victim the nurse behind the counter slipping away from being yelled at any more. "Bravo, bravo! That surely is a very cute Pokemon. You see, Vulpix isn't mine though- he's my boss's. It's just my job to run him here and there and everywhere for things like doctors appointments, grooming et cetera. Which is WHY I think establishments like these should have everything all in one. You know I have a life other than catering to my boss's every whim." The lady set her hand on the Vulpix's head, caressing him as he cooed happily towards her face. "You know what, this little Vulpix here he's such a fighter. He really does hate sitting around in her penthouse all day doing absolutely nothing. Lemme just..." The lady began to dig in an arm-bag around her shoulder for something. First she pulled out an unusual Poke Ball that was black in color with distinctive red, yellow and white brandings. Next the lady pulled out a cell-phone which she clicked a button on and pressed up to her ear. "Madame, Jessie here. Vulx is doing the Ember thing -again-. Ma'am I really do love the little guy but with your new glass furniture collection-" The lady paused from talking, shaking her head and giving whomever was on the other line the occasional mhm or ahuh. "Don't worry! I can trade him right now for this adorable little-" The lady quickly tilted the phone away from her mouth and curiously looked at you and Opoh before replacing the device on her face. "Right, it's a Slowpoke- the cutest new accessory for Pokemon Coordinators world-wide!" After a few moments of being silent the lady took the phone from her head and clicked a single button before returning it to her purse with a large grin across her face. "And done!" The lady smiled, patting Vulx on the head one more time before picking up the black Poke Ball and returning him to it. "I would love to just outright trade you- but I've been instructed by my boss that that won't do! I need to test your Pokemon out first, make sure the adorable little thing isn't dangerous or anything. I propose a battle!" The lady's face lite up when she announced the word battle. This chick isn't a wanna be trainer or anything. Vulpix is soooo close to your grasp! Alls you gotta do now is show this lady that Ooph isn't dangerous at all and poses no threat to her boss's collection of glass furniture which Vulx apparently liked to Ember at. The lady walked outside, Poke Ball in hand. "Come on, boy! Don't you want to battle?" The lady signaled you to follow, walking out of the doors of the center. Time to decide if this Vulpix is really a Pokemon you want to add to your team. Flash FireVulx Level 7 24/24 100

Joel conversed with the woman, hoping that she would agree to trade Pokémon. But then something heart stopping happened. It was not hers, it was her bosses. What luck he had. He was never going to get such a cute Pokémon now. Why did such good things have to be presented, and then ripped from his grasp. She seemed like she wanted to trade the Pokémon right there and then, considering she just got done saying it. If only she did not have a boss. And then she did something way out of the ordinary. She started to complain about how the Pokémon destroyed all of her furniture. And then randomly pulled out an oddly colored Pokeball and cellphone. Joel was very confused by this point as the woman then dialed her boss and started to speak about trading Vulpix for Slowpoke. Joel's face lit up immediately. From the likes of the conversation, it seemed as if the little Pokémon, which went by Vulx, was a little bad boy at heart. Joel wanted it even more now. And then the woman gave him the opportunity of a lifetime. She wanted to prove that his Slowpoke wasn't dangerous, because Vulx was, and that was the only reason she wanted to trade it. Just his luck. Opoh was not really that strong and kind of didn't know what was going on half of the time. This battle would be a piece of cake. The only think Joel made sure to do, was to not use an attack move. He figured that the woman wanted to see the Pokémon lose in a battle. If Opoh lost, that would prove he wasn't dangerous at all, and actually quite the cutie. Plus he made sure that he would make Opoh do cute things a coordinater would want in a Pokémon. "Alright, I accept your battle proposal, let's take this outside. We wouldn't want to upset Nurse Joy and the other Pokémon. Especially if they are resting." Joel then motioned the older woman to follow him outside. As the two of them prepared themselves for battle, he started to devise a losing strategy. He figured that he should let her command first, that way Joel would be more likely to lose. The young male then motioned his dual type to step forward, readying the battle. He did feel bad for doing this to Opoh, but he was doing this for the both of them. Opoh clearly had an awkward crush on the woman. And would most likely enjoy being taken care of by her, instead of constantly battling other Pokemin. His pink Pokémon was the literal definition of the cute, pampered, lazy ass. Anyway, let the battle commence! "Ladies first. Opoh, after she commands the little fox, I want you to use Curse, let's show them how safe you are. Think about being pampered by her, buddy." Joel made sure the woman didn't hear the last part of what he said. Opoh nodded with a smile. What a perverted, lazy Pokémon. He was probably thinking of being showered by her. How awkward. Oh well. Joel would do just about anything...maybe, for the Vulpix. The boy watched as the events started to unfold, hoping to have a Vulpix by the end of this. Edited by Exer, Sep 24 2010, 12:58 PM.

It was evident at this point that this battle was rather mundane- both parties know that they just want to get the trade done and over with but the third party, Jessie's mystery boss objected to their intentions. So the battle as requested by this chick commenced, both sides already knowing the outcome. "Dazzle the opposition with a graceful battle performance, Vulx! You know how we do." The commands of the lady were simple, short and sweet. She didn't give particular commands but instead allowed Vulx to do as he wished- maybe showing that she didn't know much about battling. Or maybe showing that she and the Pokemon have practiced the "dazzle" command before. Either way Vulpix was charging directly towards Opoh, who instructed by his trainer just sat there, waiting. Vulx's assault begin with a bite to Opoh's face and a paw to his eye. Apparently "dazzle" in his book meant maim the foe's basic senses and piss it off by biting it in the lip. The little Vulpix, who clearly didn't leave all that much of a mark on Opoh lifted his head arrogantly and pranced back to Jessie's feet where he plopped onto the ground as Opoh took his turn. How polite the prissy fox Pokemon was. When it became "his turn" Opoh began to execute Curse just as you orderd. He plopped onto his belly and began to let out a very exaggerated "Poooooke" which turned his body a deeper pink shade. Apparently this was battle mode for a Slowpoke. Opoh's turn ended abruptly by Vulx's choice. The fox stood up and quickly charged for Opoh without command from his human. "Use that highly concentrated Ember of yours, Vulx!" Jesse shouted a command to the running fox who quickly took the call into consideration. Stopping about four feet from Opoh's face Vulx flipped his body into the air, coals emulating from his mouth and swirling with his body. The Pokemon landed on all fours, quickly whipping his tail towards Opoh. This graceful movement resulted in the embers that were suspended in the Pokemon's tail to ignite some, slamming the defenseless dummy right in the face. Yeewouch, burn! "Vulx, that was so elegant!" Jesse cheered the little fire fox on who was proud to have impressed. Damn, that creature was just so adorable and showy who wouldn't want him as their partner? "Oh, Vulx, take it a bit easier on that cutie-pie. We don't want to give Madame Diane a charred up replacement, do we?" The moment Vulx caught ear of the name "Diane" he exerted a large amount of agitation. He barked towards the air, releasing a small amount of fire towards the ground. "Now you're just overreacting! Madame Diane isn't all that horrible of a lady, mister, that I can assure you. She just doesn't have the time to give Vulx the attention he needs when it comes to battling! And keeping him in her office all day just drives him crazy, the little walks in the park don't suffice I suppose. I promise, however, that Slowpoke is the perfect fit for my boss." Vulx rolled his eyes after Jesse's persuasive bit. Own Tempo, Oblivious 6/22 96Opoh, Level 6+1 Atk +1 Def -1 Spd. Versus Flash FireVulx, Level 7 24/24 90Battle Calcs
