Yeah I WENT THERE. I'm bored, taking a short break from working on Isara, and realized that this could be about as decent a discussion as any. Basically - what Pokémon do you want to acquire eventually on your currently-planned character, why, and - optionally, only if you're into tactics like a crazy (wo)man - what positions/tactics do you foresee for them? For Isara, I'm definitely for an eventual Grovyle+Salamence combo, and that's about it. Grovyle is the pinch hitter, most likely her starter if viable, since Sceptile looks stupid. Treecko is adorable, and Grovyle is a badass, combined with excellent mobility and actually a pretty DARN SKIPPY moveset, especially if you factor in TMs, but even without that, natural Agility combined with lifedrain moves and obscene critical hit potential makes him the quintessential Speedy Bruiser, lol TVTropes. Salamence is less "speedy bruiser" as much as "fuckin flying fortress of doom," what with the species' ability to switch from incredibly hard-hitting ranged moves (Flamethrower, Draco Meteor especially) to melee, whether to press home a vicious combo or after a storm of Draco Meteors rapes his special attack all to hell anyways, at which point he busts out Dragon Claw, Earthquake, and other incredibly hard-hitting moves from something that isn't so much just a dragon as a flying fucking fortress of doom. Combined - Salamence can shift effortlessly from long-range support to heavy bruiser while Grovyle keeps everyone busy with a combination of Agility and hit-and-run, destroying anything that so much as looks at Salemence funny with Ice Beam in a crit or two, then keeping the remainder busy while Salamence rains down the flames of Gehenna itself. In the meantime, Isara just looks sort of confused and cringes a little whenever something gets ripped in half. ...Trees, hopefully, rather than Pokémon. /still feels dirty for making this topic, but what the hell, it was going to be made anyways Edited by Munchkinator, Sep 7 2010, 12:35 AM.

For Ellery, I don't have a FFFFFFFFin clue, honestly. He's hopeless at knowing what to pick, or what to keep around, so he'll probably catch a TOP PERCENTILE Rattata (/Sentret/Zigzagoon/Bidoof) and stick with it. He is likely going to have only very common Pokémon - his journey is more about the trust and bond between trainer and Pokémon than it is about the specific species. He could just as easily bond with a Marill as he could a Zapdos, so whatever the refs throw his way that sticks around will stick around. For PLANNED chars, the twins are going to have some interesting and exotic choices, hopefully from the start. I sort of want them to start with something obscenely common but themed - like Luvdisc and Wingull - and evolve out from there into Tropius, Bellossom/Vileplume, Clamperl/Shellder, and hopefully at least one Ralts. I really like the imagery of the Kirlia hula dancers for their tropical/exotic/vacation themed gym in a vacation spot. The guy is going to handle the water types, the girl is going to handle the grass types for the most part, but all in tag team combinations. Part of me is actually very excited and looking forward to using a Luvdisc. Pure debuffs and speed - evading and outlasting the shit out of opponents who can't hit the damned thing. Wingull/Pelipper is going to be more of a tank - blast from afar and then try to absorb the brunt of damage with its bulky body. Tropius is a beast, with recover, but not sure which direction to take there yet - Bellossom/Vileplume are both status inducing + life draining monsters to keep themselves alive. Kirlia is just for shows and won't battle, but if she does it will follow in the status/evade/recover vein. After all, taking damage REALLY messes up your relaxation. For other chars - I may bring back Jeanesse. Very strongly considering it. Murkrow would be a definite must here as a hazing cunning little bitch who hits and runs, utilizing speed and cover from the environment to land acute blows. He may even be her starter, just to avoid -that- little hitch. Other Pokémon might include Natu (I had a lot of fun with that plot, personally) and Kadabra, because he was a smug little sumbitch who I adored to death. The power struggle between trainer and Pokémon was an excellent dichotomy, two strong willed entities trying to dominate the other ...while Natu just sat on the sideline and watched silently. If I stick with the psychic theme (a very strong possibility, you know how I love them and never get to use them) I might actually be interested in a Drowzee - he never gets enough love. Between status inducing moves and strong physical attacks, he'd be a jolt attacker. Induce an affliction and then snap them out of it with pure undefendable damage, rinse and repeat. I'm also in love with Mime Jr, but I hate Mr Mime so it would never evolve and be her darling little baby forever and ever and ever and ever and ever. I love James' Mime Jr so much and never got to use him on the other Pokémon RP that died :( |

I honestly am thinking about starting back with my original character - Justin. (you konw the one that got shot, and then later mindfucked by mia...) I had a lot of fun with Baltoy and Growlithe. Leveling those two would be magnificent, and probably adding a flying element, like Pidgey to the mix, cause well i really would like to see a Pidgeot. Other than that, im not quite sure who else would fit the mold. Maybe getting a Squirtle and evoing it to Blastoise would be fun... |

I think that Brush is going to want some farm based Pokémon. I'll probably get rid of my dumb Chimchar pretty soon, and trade it for a Sandslash or something. I think a Tauros would also be hot as hell. Also a Marowak could be wooooonderful. I think he'd also love having a bitchy Flareon or Persian or some such. |

HOLY CHANGE OF PLANS, BATMAN! Dunstan is looking at: bonsly (f, Jade), phanpy (Mason), skarmory (Lance), lileep (Anemone), nidoranM (Conrad), corsola (Nerissa). Jade is going to be the one with the most maneuverability, and I plan to focus on speed with her more than anything - Sudowoodo is a pretty dodge-intensive Pokémon if you do it right. Mason is going to be all about the badassery tankness, shrugging off hits and DISHING damage out intensely as a heavy hitter/sweeper. Lance is pure defensiveness, setting up classic spikes/stealth rock and then just absorbing damage that comes its way while out lasting the opponent. Lileep is going to be a MOTHERFFFFER to get, but is definitely going to be the special hitter and status inducer - confuse ray, energy ball, recover ... dun and dun. Nidorino/king is going to be another mixed sweeper who is balanced between offensiveness and defensiveness, with hopefully a good number of special attacks to complement its hard hitting physical moves. Finally, Corsola is going to follow the suit of Lance - outlast to conquer, with lots of defensive moves like heals and buffs, including weather moves. |

Asher Hawthorne, the character I'll be playing plans on finding himself as a new person in Tohea. His dream team would have to be a Bagon, Carvanha and probably a Koffing or Weezing. |

"HOLY CHANGE OF PLANS, BATMAN!" indeed. After talking with a bro, I think I'll be adding either Ursaring or Heracross to Isara's team. Ursaring has just been one of my favorites as a bona fide badass for a while, surprisingly decent stats and borderline-obscene movepool as per all Normal types, with the massive staying power and crushing strength required from a fitting pillar of her tactics. Heracross, while smaller, less imposing, and with a smaller movepool, still has the flat-out obscene physical power and typing versatility required to function as a tank/DPS like Ursaring, though I'm definitely leaning towards Ursaring more now. Larger and more intimidating, he can attract and soak up damage while berserking and tearing through the opponent's team, even as Grovyle is tearing shit up and moving between individual skirmishes with seeming abandon - with brutal precision, actually, though it may not be obvious - and Salemence too can switch from ranged support to vicious melee and back again with a mach one swoop into battle to scatter the combatants or grab an opponent and toss them a few miles away. ALTERNATIVELY.

Wow, those pictures are creepy as hell. I haven't thought about particular strategies for Gabriel. He's much more interested in using his Pokémon for fun that actual battling, and I'm going to try to incorporate his musical inclinations into the story pretty soon. I see him turning into more of an artist with his Pokémon that focusing on effing up his opponents so he'd probably go for more unconventional battle strategies. That being said, I think he'd love to have a Bellossom on his team, being a dancer and all, as well as some sort of Pokémon that can sing (probably an Altaria or a Lapras, though Clefable would also be a good one for him). Michael, if and when I ever finish him, is going to be much more focused on prowess & grace for his 'dream team.' I imagine it'll be composed of creatures that he(I) find to be beautiful, since the character is based off of me (as in OOC real life Koi). That being said, an Umbreon is a must, being the most gorgeous Pokémon in existence (which is also why if I try again for a bypass Eevee and don't get it, I'm probably abandoning this character). A Milotic or a Dragonair would also be good additions to the team, being the elegant creatures that they are, thogh I'm well aware how hard it would be to obtain either of them. Ninetails and Roselia (since Roserade is ugly as hell) would all be fun ones too. Honestly, I think a team of Eeveelutions would be the most beautiful thing ever, but from a realistic standpoint there's no way that's ever going to happen. |

Holy necro, Batman! Anyway, been working out a team I'd like to have in the end and it's a doozy. ![]() This way I have Metagross and Weavile to hold the line, and Houndoom and Glaceon to rain special attacks down upon whomever challenges my wrath. |

For Ven, I'd guess something along the end-stage lines of... / (not sure which yet....)![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() There's no real order to it, and he's fairly inexperienced as it stands now, so he'd want Pokémon that are intriguing, but he'd still /try/ to ahve some "semblance" of diversity. |

I'm not really a fan of one-stage Pokémon, in most cases even two-stage Pokémon. I don't know why, for some odd reason I feel like Pokémon who can get to a third-stage are so much more badass. But that's just my opinion. |
