"I do not think there is any thrill that can go through the human heart like that felt by the inventor as he sees some creation of the brain unfolding to success... such emotions make a man forget food, sleep, friends, love, everything." - Nikola Tesla

THE RULES
You know you love them! Just read these rules
to have the best experience here at Tohea!

**The Golden Rule
Tohea is not serious business. It's a game, guys. We have rules and mechanics in place to give the staff and our members guidelines as to how to play the game, but in all reality the forum is meant for fun. So relax and enjoy, because when it all comes down to it the purpose of Tohea is to have a good time.

GETTING STARTED
every journey begins somewhere
Alright, so first of all, you need to register your account! Obvious, right? It can be an OOC moniker, or your characters name, whichever suits you. That means John Doe or something like jOhN_dOe344x - it's all up to you. Each account can host as many characters as you wish to pick up - you do NOT need to re-register (unless you'd prefer to) for each additional character you apply for.

Next, you need to write and submit your application before you do anything else! Please do not post anywhere other than the HELP! or Advertising forum if your application isn't accepted. If you have any questions, comments or concerns - talk to us! That is what the SHOUT-BOX is for! We are very sociable here at Tohea, and we are welcoming to all new members, so don't be shy!

SHOUT-BOX
chitter chatter chitter chatter
So, here's the deal. Do not advertise in the SHOUT-BOX! Seriously, that is what the advertising board is for. Don't worry, people will see it if they want to, so please do not attempt to pimp your board in other ways.

No fighting, flaming, harassment, or other displays of rudeness! Guys, really, be mature. Don't act like six year olds and fight over stupid things. We've seen and heard them enough to know that they are annoying! Surprise attention span check! Treat others like you expect them to treat you - with respect. If you have a problem with someone, deal with it in private or one on one to resolve it: not where the whole world can see. That doesn't just make YOU look bad, but the site, too! Guests can see the SHOUT-BOX.

Remember: Don't be shy! We have a great community of writers, and love welcoming new members to the fold. Just make sure to follow the rules or you might be temporarily suspended or warned.

ROLEPLAYING
guidelines and ratings
First things first, please keep in mind the sensibilities of others. Cursing in character is allowed, but should please be kept to a PG-13 RATING. Tohea is a family-friendly Pokemon board, but our main focus is ROLE PLAYING - not just violent displays or long, drawn-out curse fests. So don't just spend all your time having your character swear and act in a graphic fashion or you will be warned. It's about character and character development, not just visceral things. While battles may, at times, become more violent due to the realistic nature of Tohea, gore and such just for the sake of being shocking should be avoided.

There is no limit to how many words you type! Quantity does not equal quality, but there is a minimum of how much you NEED to submit, if you want a ref to respond to your journey. About 2-4 WELL written paragraphs are required - at least 300 words. Yeah, we understand writers block and all that jazz, but that is only once in a while, if we can help it, and we will generally let it slide. If you consistently struggle to meet this minimum, our site just might not be for you. You are not just writing for yourself, but a staff member will actually be responding to exactly what you write! The more quality you give us to work with, the better and more involved our plots can get for you.

Please do not reply to a post that someone (especially a ref) spent their time on, and post 1 paragraph. It is very unfair, and the staff will take note of such occurrences. If it becomes a habit, we may need to have a chat, or you may even be denied an official ref. We are volunteering our own personal efforts for your sake, and we only ask the basic reciprocity that you do the same. Being a ref takes a lot of personal commitment and time, so keep that in mind.

Remember spell check! Grammar check! We are not the most picky of people, but it is not unreasonable to ask that you put the same consideration into your replies as you expect from others. Typos happen and no one is perfect, but please put forth the effort. Proper capitalization is one of the musts. We don't mean to be nagging nazis, but it is a pet-peeve of most people. Again, if excessive typos and grammatical errors become a habit, the staff reserves the right to ask you to edit your post to resolve errors. If we can't read it, we can't ref it. Thank you in advance.

CHARACTERS
the role, the mask, the game
There is no limit on how many characters you can have, at all or on one account. If it gets confusing for you, feel free to register a second or other alternate account in order to keep things in better order.

If you have multiple characters, they may not interact in any mechanical fashion. What does this mean? This means, simply, that your characters may meet if you'd like. They may talk, and interact in a social sense as a means of character development or other backstory fleshing out. However, no items may be gifted, no battles may take place for experience, no Pokemon may be traded nor any other benefit may be gained, mechanically, from the two interacting. It is strictly for RP purposes, and ANY attempt to circumvent this will be punished most harshly. This is considered cheating, and is grounds for revocation of your characters - those involved, or possibly all of them. Using someone else to pass items to and fro is likewise against the rules; 'item laundering' is no different, and blatantly disregarding this will lead to punishments should it be discovered.

No Gary-Stus or Mary Sues allowed. ALL people have flaws and your characters have to as well! On top of this, always remember the consequences of actions. In character actions have in character consequences! If criminal activities, histories or other interesting facts are discovered during the course of a journey, your character may very well have to answer for it! Just how that happens depends on the circumstances, but keep this in mind for all in character actions. If we see you hand-waving something big or important off, the staff may find fit to PM you to ask about the circumstances and just how they were resolved. Things should come full circle, for good AND bad!

GRAPHICS
pretty faces for pretty places
Graphic signatures are not required, but if you choose to use one PLEASE don't stretch the board. The staff will PM anyone with an excessively sized graphic and ask you to remove it or resize it, so please keep that in mind when crafting or requesting them! A general guideline is nothing over 550px wide by 200px tall. Thank you.

Post formatting is not permissable. You may color the speech or post of your character, but 'post stamps' and other HTML formatting that change the look of the skin and post are neither necessary nor awesome, and your random lyrics or images should not be included in any IC post - we have a skin for a reason. You may use them if you wish in OOC forums like the games forum, but any extraneous coding will be noted and the admins WILL ask you to remove it. If you wish to insert links to things such as theme music, outfit inspirations etc, they should please all be noted at the beginning of the relevant post, please.

ACTIVITY
it's alive, the board is alive
Can you please stay active? We cannot stress this enough - it is okay if you have to go on vacation or something like that, but don't just disappear! We have a LEAVE OF ABSENCE forum for you to post and let us know, so please make use of it. It is only courteous, especially if you are in a tag-team journey with other characters.

We will have activity checks once (a/every other) month, and if you don't let us know you're still around, we will have to archive your profile and journey. We don't think it's too much to ask for one post (a/every other) month, although we would obviously love a lot more than that! In addition, if you voluntarily leave you may not 'gift' your items or Pokemon to another player. Your character (ICly) will be handwaved off, and will retain all of your inventory. If you return, your profile will still remain intact for you to pick up where you left off, more or less.

STAFF are held to a more strict schedule for activity, outlined in the staff forum.

Mr. Fluffy and Jeanesse.
