(Updated when the fancy strikes us)
"I do not think there is any thrill that can go through the human heart like that felt by the inventor as he sees some creation of the brain unfolding to success... such emotions make a man forget food, sleep, friends, love, everything." - Nikola Tesla

Tohea has a very involved system, with a number of numbers and even more factors - ironically, our simplification of the system from the games. We have done our best to capture the essence of the Pokemon games and translate it, adapting where necessary to keep things as simple as possible for both member and staff alike. However, sometimes that just isn't enough. Sometimes, you want to go above and beyond - and here at Tohea we like to reward that kind of mindset. To that end, we have a special reward called a Token.

What is a Token?

A Token is a non-transferable, non-refundable, one-time-use bonus item that players may earn through a variety of means. They are strictly OOC items, however, they do effect the course of IC play in a few limited instances (i.e. the Move Tutor).

How do I get Tokens?

Tokens can be received in a number of ways - achieving a high level of fame (2+) for instance, or winning a monthly award via popular vote. Tokens may be rewarded upon completion of extremely difficult challenges or plots within your journey, or those that move the plot forward in a noticeable way. Moderators also receive tokens monthly based on their activity at a slower rate than normal members.

Okay, so what are Tokens used for?

There are a variety of things you may exchange your tokens for, any of which will be noted in your profile. You burn a token to do something incredible, going above and beyond for a brief moment. Your pokemon suddenly learns drastically more from a battle, or pulls off a beautiful contest combo stringing Ember with Surf, or manages to find precisely the exposed spot that lets its attacks break through. Specific uses include:
  • a permanent +10 max HP to a single Pokemon. May only stack 5 times (max +50 HP).
  • a permanent +10 max EP to a single Pokemon. May only stack 5 times (max +50 EP).
  • a single round of perfect hits - no counter-attack, strategy or move (Detect, etc) can protect against the selected moves.
  • a single round of guaranteed appeal - your Pokemon will not falter. how effective the appeal is depends on creativity, but nothing will stop your Pokemon.
  • a single Pokemon encounter, selected specifically by the player. this is just an encounter - whether or not it is captured or flees, or possesses any specific desired qualities, is up to the mod that actually spawns it. this does not apply to a very select list of Pokemon (fossils, legends, Ditto, Porygon, Eevee or Rotom).
  • a single experience boost from any battle (applied after the battle's conclusion), increasing experience by x1.5.
  • $300.
  • a 10% reduction to egg hatching time - which may be stacked up to 3 times (maximum 30% reduction).
  • unlocking a single Pokemon's Dream World ability permanently.

Additionally, there is the Emerslope Move Tutor, who can teach your Pokemon any move it can possibly learn - for a price. He accepts tokens in exchange for enlightening your Pokemon, although the number of tokens required changes depending on the move you wish to learn.
  • To learn any non-offensive move, the cost is one token.
  • To learn any offensive move (egg moves, TM moves or move tutor moves), the cost is dependent on the move's class:
  • Class 6 Moves cost 1 Token.
  • Class 5 Moves cost 2 Tokens.
  • Class 4 Moves cost 3 Tokens.
  • Class 3 Moves cost 4 Tokens.
  • Class 2 Moves cost 5 Tokens.
  • Class 1 Moves cost 6 Tokens.
  • Any variable-damage move costs 4 Tokens (Grass Knot, Eruption, Electra Ball, etc).
  • To learn any level up move, the cost is identical to the above designations, reduced by one token to a minimum of one token.

What can't I do with my Tokens?

Despite the many uses for Tokens, the staff HAS seen fit to introduce a few restrictions in their application. First and foremost, Tokens are non-refundable. Almost as important, they may not be transferred by any means; they are permanent fixtures of one character and one character only. This applies even to multiple characters under one account or with the same player. This should go without saying, but anyone caught manipulating staff or staff abilities to alter the number or usage of their tokens will have all of their token bonuses revoked. This includes Pokemon they captured via Token encounter. This is cheating and consistent manipulation of a staff member of one's own staff abilities may even result in demotion or a site ban.

Additionally, the battle effects of Tokens (auto-hit rounds) may not be used in Player vs Player (pvp) battles. This is just to keep an even footing between all players. They may be used in gym matches and against the Elite Four, or any other NPC trainer or wild Pokemon battle - including wild Pokemon spawned via Token.

How many Tokens may I have?
Over time, you can have as many Tokens as you can earn through plots, awards and the like. However, you may not have more than six Tokens at one time. Having 6 Tokens disqualifies you from earning more until you spend one or more of them. Other Tokens you would earn in the meantime are voided entirely, they do not "appear" once you have room.
