You walked out from the tube station that had dropped you off in the city of Hurst. Unfortunately it was the only place on Tohea the tube could take you to although it would have to do. The tube wouldn't be coming back for months so you wouldn't be going back to Kanto any time soon, all that was left was to enjoy the surroundings of Hurst. Smoke and Smog arose from many of the surrounding buildings, some with broken windows or doors open and hanging off their hinges. There were many alleys in between the tall buildings with many trash cans and dumpsters. Despite this the streets were thick with litter. It made you wonder if there was any point in having so many waste disposal sevices. You walked through, being on guard with your sharpened senses from all your training. Few people walked past, not wanting to remain in the streets for longer than they absoloutely needed to be. It didn't seem that inviting to strangers but you could handle anything this town would throw at you. You had heard something! One of the trash cans had fallen over and a long shape was moving out from the shadows. It hissed at you obviously wanting a battle. It slithered forwards and coiled about 3 yards from you ready to battle. You could probably outrun this Pokémon but would it not be better to get some experience and a new team mate if you decided that you wanted it? Lvl. 6

Alicia walked silently through the town, her senses picking up on each and every sound, intent upon reacting to trouble before trouble could act to her. Her hands were behind her back as she walked, her hands resting softly upon the small of her back, her left hand holding a Pokeball in case she had need of it. Unsurprisingly she did need it, this was the worst town in all the region after all. Unfortunately the city seemed to disapoint at every turn, starting with the lack of useful competition, as well as the apparent weak variety of Pokémon in the area. She stared at the ekans and smirked, contempt wfor the Pokémon clearly written on her face. “Fine, this is the first Pokémon I’ve encountered while on the island, lets give things a whirl shall we shuppet?” He asked and pressed the button on the pokeball in his hand. A click was audible as the ball opened, but instead of the usual red beam from the ball, a dark black mist came pouring fourth, ending up as the Shuppet, floating a few feet above and behind its trainer. “Shuppet, you have your target, we shall start with the basics. I want you just to wait, hold your ground until it strikes, then dodge and react with screech. If all goes as planned you should have an opening for a couter, use knock off. Now, go and don’t lose got it?” The girl stated to her Pokémon, her red eyes flashing dangerously at her Pokémon. |

You sent forth Shuppet into the field of battle and he knew instinctively what he needed to do and was already readying himself into a battling pose. He began sizing up Ekans wondering what possible strategies Ekans could perform on him and how he could avoid them, of course he was a ghost so he could just become transparent. You gave your orders to the small doll like ghost Pokémon and he nodded. This would be a good battle and your first one in Tohea! Now that the trash can had been knocked over and more garbage had fallen out the smell intensified slightly and your eyes began to water slightly from the smell but it wasn't unbearable, just slightly disgusting. The problem for you was that Ekans most basic attack was Poison sting and that could be used from a distance whom began firing small purple needles at Shuppet who managed to turn transparent after being hit with roughly half of the attack. The good thing was that screech could also be used from a distance and so Shuppet emitted a high pitched whining noise. Ekans squealed from the noise and closed his eyes from it. This was an immediate mistake and Shuppet saw his chance and quickly hovered towards Ekans and span around extending part of its body to hit Ekans in the face who fell back slightly from the attack and hissed at the small ghost that had caught him off guard. Alicia glared at shuppet as it got hit by the poison attack. “That is unacceptable, and won’t happen again.” She stated, and then motioned for Shuppet to come closer. “Ok, for this next move I want you to cheat a bit, shouldn’t be to big a problem should it?” She asked the ghost Pokémon and glared at it. She looked around and smiled a bit, trying to formulate a good plan. She knew she was going to have Shuppet go into something by becoming invisible. She nodded as a plan started to come. “Ok, this one had better work,” she murmured quietly to shuppet, her tone making it clear she would expect nothing less then perfection. “First, I want you to disappear into the ground, stay under for a few seconds and while Ekans is looking for you I want you to come up underneath it. First use astonish then hit it hard with two knock offs. After you do that retreat back underground and move towards me. Got it?” She said to shuppet, again making sure to let the Pokémon know there would be no room for errors. She stepped back a bit, leaving her shuppet by itself before nodding and pointing at the ekans. “Now, go and win this thing. If you can get it to a catchable point then I’ll give ya a special treat later on got it?” She asked the little ghost Pokémon. |

I guess that causing your Pokémon to fear you is one way of making them obey you, although it's probably not really the best. Most people would rather show respect for their Pokémon, so that way they end up receiving the same level of respect. Right now it might not matter too much, because Shuppet really doesn't have any power to do anything to you. Later on, though, he just might end up turning on you and making you fear him instead of the other way around. But then again you may be too stubborn to realize that and think that your Pokémon will just always fear you. Hopefully I'll find out how well that's working for you in the future, but right now I should focus on what's going on in the present. Shuppet dove to the ground and turned invisible just as he entered it, causing the Ekans to hiss and look around wildly. The snake went flat against the ground and quickly slithered towards where Shuppet was and lifted half of his body again. Looking at where he was, he saw Shuppet materialize above ground, and saw that that ghost became confused. Ekans quickly slithered towards where Shuppet was, and the ghost turned around just in time to dodge a close ranged Poison Sting. Shuppet disappeared again, and before Ekans could go anywhere, materialized in front of him, using Astonish. Hissing, Ekans reared up, and tried walking away, although he was smacked a couple of times with Knock Off. Not wanting to be outdone, Ekans used another Poison Sting that hit Shuppet before he went back down into the ground. He made it back to you and materialized next to you, hoping you were a little more pleased with him this time. At least all three attacks hit this time, but Shuppet was hit with one as well, though it didn't poison him at least. That doesn't mean much, however, since eventually he could get poisoned from Ekans' venomous attacks. ![]() Level 5 28/35 64% ![]() Level 6 14/37 84%(Defense -2) Edited by DarkSlayer1331, Jan 11 2009, 10:36 PM.

Alicia sighed as she watched the round take place, she had hoped that this round would have turned out better, but at least all three attacks hit. She couldn’t exactly berate the little ghost; it was holding its own in this battle. “Nicely done Shuppet, room for improvement, but you achieved the end result, which was to cause damage. So good job.” She said, feeling more proud of her Pokémon by the minute. She new he tried hard, and she was pretty harsh on him, but only when it came to battling. When they weren’t in a battle she wasn’t nearly as harsh. She shrugged and made a mental note to give Shuppet an extra helping of snacks after the battle. “Ok shuppet, this time we’ll go a bit on the defensive side. I want you to spend most of this round dodging all attacks. If it seems like your about to get hit I want you to screech as loud as you can. If this works I want you to smack ekans one more time with a knock off attack. Remember, spend this turn dodging. If you can’t find an opening after using screech just stay back to make sure you can still dodge if need be. Ok, go.” Alicia said and nodded to her Pokémon. She reached onto her belt for an empty poke ball, ready to throw it when this round was over. She wasn’t really interested in the ekans, but until she had better Pokémon to replace it with then it could prove useful, besides it was a step closer to fulfilling her goal of having one of every Pokémon. |

Shuppet wasn't sure if he should be happy or not, having been told that he did good but needed improvement. Well at least you weren't yelling at him anymore, which made him slightly happy, although he hoped he wouldn't screw up next round. Listening to your instructions, Shuppet was sure that this time he could wow you, and he readied himself for Ekans' attack. Ekans on the other hand, was watching Shuppet intently, trying to figure out what he was going to do. At first it was more of a stare down contest, although Ekans finally broke that and started his rally. First, he activated his Intimidate ability, decreasing Shuppet's attack by two points, meaning that Shuppet won't hurt Ekans as much. Then he fired a Poison Sting which Shuppet dodged, causing Ekans to hiss in anger. He slithered towards Shuppet, causing Shuppet to float a little higher, trying to keep out of reach. Ekans hissed again, calling Shuppet a coward for staying away, although that of course didn't do anything to Shuppet. Shuppet went to dodge another Poison Sting, but Ekans fooled him, and fired one where Shuppet was floating to. Immediately, you heard Shuppet use Screech, which would shatter just about anyone's ear drums if they were close enough. Though Shuppet was hit with Poison Sting, and poisoned too, Shuppet was down in defense again, meaning that Shuppet's attacks will do the damage like before. Knock Off hit too, putting Ekans down to 6 HP, and you threw the Pokeball in your hand like you decided. Ekans was sucked up into the ball and you saw it wiggle back and forth for some time before the dinging noise ran its capture. Happy, Shuppet floated to you, although it was ill and should probably be taken to a Pokémon Center as soon as possible. But at least he did what you wanted and got 33 out of it. I shall add in this stuff to your Profile now.

Alicia grinned as the Poke ball closed on the Ekans, effectively making the poison snake hers. She nodded to Shuppet and patted its head in congratulations, and pulled out its Poke ball. “Return Shuppet, you did well.” She said, happy that their first battle had gone good, and had ended in a capture. She turned and looked around, unsure of were the Pokémon center was, but picked a random direction and started walking. A Pokémon center wasn’t the only thing she was watching for though, while she walked she watched the buildings all around her, debating whether or not to break in. Deciding she would she make note of the richer looking buildings and shops. Absent mindedly she stopped and decided to ask for directions to the Pokémon center, figuring she probably had a long walk ahead of her, more then enough time to find an acceptable target for her nights work. |

Even you knew that at this time, as night was fast approaching and in Hurst especially, that asking directions should only ever be an absoloute need. You navigated your way through the towers of buildings in the greatly polluted industrial town. Now that you had two Pokémon you felt slightly safer though so there was less of a panic. The moon began to shine now through the layers of smog and clouds that so frequently blocked it out. It provided such light that the street lamps on the sides of the roads were rendered useless. You found yourself walking much easier in this light than you did during the day, maybe your previous training had something to do with this? Maybe your Pokémon had rubbed off on you? It wasn't long though and without having to stop to ask for directions that you found the tall red roofed building with its lights shining out into the street that were barely visible because of the moon and stars that illuminated the town. It was a rare sight certainly to see the moon shining in Hurst, and how lucky you were to be able to witness it! You stood for a moment and walked into the Center where not many people were. There were a few sitting on comfy seats drinking hot drinks, or on the computer or in the side rooms where you could sleep for the night. You walked up to the counter where the clerk happily took your Pokeballs and stuck them into a machine before quickly giving them back to you good as new. Now would you go back out or would you stay the night? |

Alicia sighed impatiently as she got her Pokémon healed, and then put the balls back on her belt once it was done. She thanked the nurse and decided she would stand around outside for a little while, she was interested in what kinds of trainers she would have to be facing in her future. She figured she would face some of them eventually, and now was as good a chance as any to check them out. She exited the building and looked around, noting anyone that could be outside, before walking over to a wall and leaning against it. She took out her Poke balls and released both Shuppet and her new Ekans. “Well, looks like we might have a new member to our team eh Shuppet?” She asked and looked around again. She decided she wanted to go an break into a house, and started walking, looking for a good house that would give her more money and possibly even a Pokémon. Edited by absesas, Jan 18 2009, 08:33 PM.

You wandered through the town looking for a decent target for your break in but unfortunately found none. All the houses looked like they belonged to poor owners. What was the point in robbing someone who was poor? It was just merely a pure waste of time was it not? Midnight was but a minute away now and you'd still not found a suitable house. Maybe it was best to go back to the Pokémon Center for the night? Who knew what tomorrow would bring? You went to go back, but what way had you come? It all looked the same and it seemed like you were lost. You decided to go west and see if it was that direction you'd came in, but it wasn't, it was a path you'd not yet discovered. Intrigued, you ventured on. You eventually came to stop at a tall Iron gate with spikes atop it and a wide hedge spanning for meters. It was evident that someone with money lived here. You'd found it! You saw a chain lying a yard away from the gate, it was unlocked! Slowly you pushed the gate open, trying to make as little noise as possible, not wanting to climb over those spikes. You then closed the gate and set off, what you hadn't counted on however was the obstacle that stood between you and the manor that you could see beyond it with bright lights. A hedge laberynth to put it simply. There was no way of climbing it though, it was equal to and possibly even greater than the height of the gates. So now you'd have to find your way through it, and in the middle of night it wouldn't be easy. Now i'm not a nasty ref (all the time) but someone in the skies must have taken pity on you despite doing the wrong thing. They imbued you with a certain amount of knowledge. They'd given you a choice of 4 combinations to choose from, 1 led to the house simply with no snags. The other 3 led to something that was waiting for you quite sinisterly. CHOICE 1 - Left, Left, Right, Right, Right CHOICE 2 - Right, Right, Left, Right, Left CHOICE 3 - Left, Left, Left, Right, Left CHOICE 4 - Right, Right, Left, Right, Right In the mud nearby you could also see something that was nearly washed away and eroded by the rain. You could just make it out by the moon's light however and managed to read it. Instantly you knew it was a clue to the answer, but there might be something good down the 'wrong' path and you might not even be able to figure the clue out. x=a a=4 y=2 z=? (((xa) - y) / 7) +1 = z (z-y) (square it) + (a squared) = q (q to the power of 0) +y = ? Good luck ;) Edited by Shockwave, Jan 19 2009, 12:15 PM.

Alicia smirked at the sign and decided to actually spend more then a few seconds figuring out this obviously simple math test. She thought for maybe all of 4 seconds before turning and facing Choice number three. “Shuppet, come on out here will ya?” She said and released Shuppet from its Pokeball. “I have a job for you, I’m relatively certain that the correct route is the third route, but to make certain of this I want you to fly up and follow the third route from above in the sky, if it leads to the house come back and let me know, if it doesn’t go to the end of the maze and find out were it ends and follow it back here, got it?” She asked her shuppet, and sat down on the ground, intent on waiting for her Pokémon to return with good news. She absentmindedly pulled out Ekans’ pokeball, and let the new Pokémon loose. “well, what can you do?” She asked the Pokémon, not really expecting any sort of answer as she continued to wait patiently. |

Shuppet floated off through the growths of hedges and returned with roughly a minute of leaving you. He nodded and you set off to follow him with him leading the oath down the third path. You hadn't wasted much time on the puzzle that was conveniantly left for you in the mud in the entrance of the laberynth. It seemed like next to no time at all before you were approaching the exit. Light shone through to the exit of the laberynth from the grand house you saw up ahead. There was a water fountain in the center, the fountain was in the shape of a Wailmer but it had been switched off for the night. Looks like you had definititely scored in choosing this house. It looked like the person or people that lived here were quite rich. You walked gingerly around the house trying to find a decent spot to break into, there wouldn't be much chance of the valuables being on the ground floor. You walked around trying not to wake anyone or make too much noise in the area. There was gravel but fortunately enough as you trod on it, it made little noise. What luck! Eventually you decided that the window that was best to go through was one that would need to be smashed. Well could beggars really be choosers? You managed to climb up over the ground floor windows and managed to find small holes to climb up with. You found yourself in no time in front of the window. 3, 2, 1, SMASH! Only problem there was someone in the room! (Post into DS' Journey) |
