Hello Ryua, and I would say welcome to the island of Tohea, but since you've lived here your whole life I don't have to. So instead I shall welcome you to the world of being a Pokémon trainer, and I hope you have immense fun at it. I have so far, and that's saying something since my journey started out like hell, having my partner Pokémon nearly slaughtered in front of me. Also, having been living here, I'm sure you've heard about the current news that wild Pokémon are disappearing. Just about everyone is finding it very difficult to find common Pokémon, and rare Pokémon might as well be extinct. To make matters worse, people who have gotten hold of some wild Pokémon sometimes see those Pokémon vanish right before their eyes. Needless to say, this isn't a good thing for any aspiring trainer hoping to make a good addition to their team.

But hopefully you'll have more luck and will be able to find a partner sometime, but probably not anytime too soon with the current situation. The beach is still pretty though, and you can always just walk around town to see what's going on. A lot of people are battling each other, that being the only alternative to training their Pokémon, which is probably what you may have to do as well. Of course you can always try your hand at teaching your Pokémon a move as well if you really want to. I'm not entirely sure if there are any moves that would be easy to teach a Level 5 Pinsir, but I'm sure you could if you tried hard enough.

Some young boys were picking on a little girl, jeering her and when you come right down to it, just plain terrorizing her. The poor thing was crying, and it didn't look like she had any Pokémon to help protect her, and there certainly weren't any others helping her out. Maybe you should do something about this, and possibly make a friend, which isn't a bad thing to do at all really. When you looked at her, you saw that she was kind of dirty, though that was probably from the boys throwing dirt on her. She was really pretty though, with sun bleached hair and deep blue eyes, and some freckles too to add to it all. Anyways, I believe you have a decision to make?

Ryua looked over the beach, smiling. She knew it was exactly the same beach it had always been... but it seemed so much more... she wasn't sure what it was. But better. It had been a little nerve-wracking, taking the first couple steps away from home, but now that she was out and moving... it felt spectacular. Journeying was going to suit her just fine. The people in her neighborhood were used to Boba following her around, but since she was going to places unknown, she had put him in a Pokeball for the first time today. It surprised her, really, how light it was even when filled with a pretty hefty Pokémon. That was a good thing, though, otherwise she would have serious troubles carrying a Pinser on her belt.

She just savored the feeling of being out, at first, but hearing the plaintive sound of someone in distress shattered the mood some. A mishmash of her protective instincts and natural inquisitiveness spurred her forward, and she quickly came across the group. "Hey! What do you think you're doing?" she called, jogging up to them. "Leave her be!"

It was tempting to haul Boba into the confrontation right off. Nothing intimidated a bunch of bullies quite the way a set of gleaming pincers did. But it would seem foul play to pull something like that on a bunch of kids. Still, she set her hand on his Pokeball, just in case. The fact that she was an adult would be enough, she thought. Although occasionally boys got aggressive in a pack, especially the kind who would pick on little girls.

Seeing an eighteen year old girl, and one that they knew lived in this very city, the boys scattered. They were afraid that you'd be able to figure out who all of them were, and probably tell their parents. Which if you did know who they all were, as well as who their parents were, you probably would have. As it was, you didn't recognize any of the kids, all of whom had run away from you, leaving you alone with the girl. Blue eyes stared up at you, and you could see that she had been crying, probably for some time. Looking around, you saw a lot of people either battling nearby, which is something they did since there were no wild Pokémon to be found, or just walking around. These people must have some gall, not bothering to help a poor little girl from getting terrorized like that by a bunch of boys.

"Thank you for helping me," the girl said with a sniffle. "I didn't think anyone would. Nobody ever does." She got up and started to twirl a finger in her hair staring up at you. "You're Ryua, aren't you? My mother talks about you a lot. She says that you're starting your own Pokémon journey. I'm jealous. I wish I had a Pokémon of my own." Then she extended a hand. "My name is Clarisse Johnson. I really really want to be Pokémon trainer some day, but my mommy won't let me go away. But she doesn't understand that I don't want to go away now. I just really want a Pokémon of my own now."

Aw, the poor girl did seem to want a Pokémon really bad. But what could you do for her? With the way things were going right now, it seemed impossible for anyone to find a wild Pokémon for themselves. If you tried to find one, and you actually did find one, would you want to throw away the chance to add to your team for this girl? Well I suppose that's your choice to make. So you can either explain to her why it's not very hopeful to find one for her now, or you can search for one anyways. There's never any harm in looking, right?

"I understand wanting to have a Pokémon of your own," Ryua agreed cheerfully. "I've gotten so used to having Boba around that it seems strange to even have him in his Pokeball." She held it up, looking at it. "It's so weird that he fits in it, isn't it? You can meet him if you like. He's a bit big and scary, but he would never hurt a little girl. I was your size when I first met him."

She debated bringing Boba out to meet her... but then decided that a Pinsir, no matter how friendly, was more likely to terrify than interest a little girl. If the girl asked, or if they did find a wild Pokémon or two, then of course he would come out to play. But for now... he was probably just fine in his Pokeball. She wondered whether it was like being in a small cozy nest, or whether he was more in suspended animation... For that matter, could he hear or sense anything going on outside of his Pokeball? Would he care if it was hot or cold? If she fell in the water, would it get wet inside?

...After a while, she realized she'd been thinking again, and the little girl was probably wanting a reply. "Sorry. My mind started to wander. It's hard to find any wild Pokémon nowadays... I've been wondering why that is. That's one of the reasons I wanted to go on a Journey. I want to find where the Wild Pokémon are going. First I'm going to wander around here, though," she said, nodding. "You can follow me for a bit if you like, but we probably won't find any wild Pokémon." Looking around, all she saw was trainers, which didn't bode well. Maybe there would be something along the beach... she headed off in that direction.

You walked towards the beach with the girl deciding to go with you for fear of being left alone and being bullied and teased yet again. She had to run in order to keep up with your long strides. Between her heavy breathing she managed to speak to you. "Bobba?" she asked. "That's a funny name, how did you come up with it?" She said looking up at you.

The sand slipped gently away beneath your feet as the pressure from it was lifted. The footprints that you left were quickly covered by the waves slowly washing up onto the beach filling your lungs with salty air and many seagulls flapped overhead emitting an occasional noise that was actually quite irritating after a while.

The tide was coming in and soon the place you were walking on now would be underwater. You noticed to the right of the beach was grass, it seemed slightly wierd to see and grass meet. Never the less you kept on walking, trying to search for something, Clarisse was also keeping a sharp eye out for any signs of movement around the two of you.

You didn't want to go too far away from the city of Wayford and turned around after a while and began to go back towards it, defeated it. It was then you stopped. Several yards in front of you a small hole had began to appear and sand around it was beginning to collapse into it and then something began to rise out of it and it wanted a battle!

"Boba? It's a name of a character I read about in a book and got attached to," she said, thinking. "He was very tough, and a superb fighter. It seemed only right for a Pinsir." She slogged carefully through the sand. It was slow going, but she didn't want to risk slipping and twisting an ankle.

And once she noticed the little girl was having trouble keeping up, she slowed her pace a little more. It wasn't like she had anywhere vital to be at the moment, of course. If she was on her own, maybe she would have kept going, but with her companion, it wasn't like she should just run off a long ways from town. Sighing, Ryua turned back.

And then the burrow in the sand opened up, and the odd-looking Pokémon rose out of it. "That's a Baltoy!" Ryua said, grinning. She recognized it from her various encyclopedias and such at home. "Alright, Boba. Let's give you a bit of a workout." She tossed the Pokeball forward, bouncing it off of the firmer grassy ground, sending Boba out.

The Pinsir seemed quite willing and ready for a fight. He immediately sighted on the Baltoy, and clicked his pinsers in challange. "Okay. I want you to get in and use Vicegrip on that Baltoy. And be careful of the sandy footing!"

Boba clicked in aknowledgement, and moved forward, on all fours for extra stability, and reached for the Baltoy with his gleaming, ridged pinsers.

((OOC: Remember you can use 2 moves per round and once per battle 3))

Lucky you. Not only had you managed to successfully frighten off a group of mischievous boys, but also find a wild a Pokémon. In most places this wouldn’t be as impressive, but in Tohea, as you well know, wild Pokémon were coming harder and harder to come by. Many had their theories as to where and why the Pokémon were going. Some believed it was just winter migration, while the more open-minded ones supposed they were getting abducted by alien creatures and we would soon follow. Regardless of the reason, you had managed to find a Baltoy a Psychic Pokémon and as we all know Psychic Pokémon are quite useful on Tohea.

Clarisse could barely contain her excitement once she saw the Baltoy. “Look! Look! It’s a..a.. Baltoy! I can’t believe it, you found a wild Pokémon! Are you gonna catch it, are you?” she screamed at the top of her lungs not stopping once to pause. Well were you?

Boba was very excited to finally to get some more training in though he was expecting a much bigger foe, but regardless he got down on all fours and charged. The Baltoy was caught off guard by this act, since it was not use to its opponents attacking this way, and soon found itself in between Pinser’s massive horns. Baltoy panicked for a moment, fearing that this was the end and it was about to become lunch for Boba, before realizing it had an ace in the hole.

Baltoy eyes began to glow blue as it began to focus its psychic energy. Seconds later the Baltoy fired confusion directly at Boba which caused him to immediately release Baltoy and clutch his own head as confusing images were sent to his mind. Due to it being bug type it was quickly able to shake it off. Baltoy took this as opportunity to perform a rapid spin which caused loose sand to get into Boba abnormally large eyes. In retaliation Boba attacked blindly with his horns and managed to hit Baltoy temporarily knocking it off balance.

Ryua winced as the sand flew up. Boba got the worst of it, of course, but both her and the little girl got showered lightly. Brushing sand off of her face, Ryua looked back out at the battle. "Okay. Boba, I want you to use a Focus Energy, and gather your strength in. Then get right back in there and use Vice Grip again!"

Boba stumbled slightly in the sand, but turned around to face the Baltoy wairly before settling into a quick trance. It was obvious to the observers that taking a moment to center himself was helpful, he seemed more deliberate in his movements, slipped less in the sand as he charged forward. Sand was kicked up everywhere as the Pinsir moved rapidly across the beach, his pincers reaching viciously for the Baltoy, determined to get in a nice, solid hit.

Ryua watched avidly, intrigued by seeing the Psychic moves work. She knew that they wouldn't affect Boba too much, thanks to his pure bug typing, as long as he could avoid being confused. He seemed good so far, though, so she would have him keep going on the offensive as long as possible, as long as he didn't get badly injured.

Before you could lauch your attacks, and as Pinsir went in for the attack their was a loud thunder like crack, dark clouds loomed on the horizon and you could see the faint mist of rain. The atmosphere around you darkened, and many people gazed at the sky above the clouds where large, yet faint Pokémon sillohette's battled one another. Some people ran for cover some ran to get a closer look from a higher location. The sea seemed to increase in ferocious appetite as a strong wind picked up, smashing the shoreline with each wave, and Clarisse yelled at the top of her lungs, "What's happening!" over another crack of lighning.

The Baltoy stopped fighting, it stood on the spot, as Pinsir came at it the Pokémon disappeared with a teleport and reappeared in front of you and Clarisse. The wind whiped you with sand particles, sea spray and all manner of other beachly... things. This was a very strong storm but the figures above the clouds begged to differ, the Baltoy was tapping your leg quit vigorously yet un painful. It seemed to want you to go with it, continuing to tap your leg. The battle was over, but there were more pressing issues. You had to get off the beach and find shelter, the Baltoy maybe able to teleport you to safety, will you trust it?

(You may want to request me next ref. If you don't thats fine. ~ Lucius)

Ryua looked up as the atmosphere changed so abruptly. Living on an island, she was used to storms blowing up suddenly, but this was fast even for that. It distracted her from the battle at first, and then when the sillhouettes started to show through the clouds, it was almost all she could watch. She did have the presence of mind to call Boba close, then into his Pokeball, once the Baltoy didn't seem to feel like attacking anymore. The Pinsir didn't seem to mind too much, especially as the rain and sand started blasting around.

She looked down at Clarisse, then the Baltoy. "I think it wants us to follow it!" she called over the storm. If she'd been alone, there wouldn't have been any hesitation, but she didn't want to take the kid rapidly away from home. "We're a good ways away from shelter, maybe we should! Can you take us somewhere close and safe?" she asked the Baltoy, grabbing Clarisse's arm and pulling her close to at least try and shield her from the windblown sand. She raised one arm to shield her face, and turned on her Poketech.

She didn't know how good a range it had. But she still did her best to scan that storm. She'd never seen a Pokémon that big, not flying, anyway. And hopefully she'd get enough of an image or something to identify it later, once they were under cover. Still, she took the few seconds while the Baltoy was thinking to scan, kneeling down beside it, one arm wrapped around Clarrise, one resting lightly on the Baltoy's head, hoping it'd teleport them with it if it decided to escape.
