"Uh, sure, I guess," replied Richard.

This was sudden to him. He didn't even know this girl, but she wanted to battle him. But that's all part of being a trainer. Even if Richard never wanted to be one. But after recent events, he was beginning to grow somewhat fond of it.

He followed the girl outside into the Wayford streets as she suggested. This wasn't Richard's first trainer-on-trainer battle. He had battled other trainers, but had failed miserably every time. But that was back with Psyche. Now he had Emera on his team. He figured this battle would be a good opportunity to see what she was capable of. He detached Emera's pokeball from his belt and tossed it as Emera appeared in a flash of light, completely healed of her injuries.

"Your turn," he said to Katrina.

What's this? You won't even give her your name? Common courtesy number one: give your name to your opponent. It's only polite after all. She gave you hers, so you should have given her yours. Well, it didn't make her too happy to see you clam up like that, but you still might have a chance to make things right.

Katrina released a Mawile as her choice in this battle. Hmm, that might prove problematic. It looks like she isn't going to be easy to beat. Steel types are quite formidable opponents, as you probably already know. You'll have to use all the knowledge you've gained thus far to help you here. In a huffy tone, Katrina said, "Well, since your not very talkative; Mawlie (like Molly) use Fake Tears and follow up with Astonish." Just how will you respond.

Richard watched as he saw the mawile appear from the pokeball. Right then, he could tell she wasn't actually going easy on him. He expected maybe an igglybuff or something. He knew this battle wouldn't go well.

Then mawile began using fake tears. A moderately powerful status move. He remembered how weak Psyche became after Emera's constant growls. He wouldn't let this happen again.

"Emera, quick, confusion! Then growl!"

Just as the mawile was beginning fake tears, Emera used confusion, hopefully breaking the mawile's train of attacks.

"You know," Richard said, "I may be new at this, but I know that steel types are strong against psychic types. You're not going easy at all, are you?"

Nope, no Igglybuff for you. She did only have this one pokeball though, so Mawile is more than likely her starter. That's not a problem, is it? After all, you were the one who acted quite rude. I don't suppose you deserve the sympathy. Although, your battle was already attracting other trainers to watch and see strategies. You may get another challenge once your done here.

Emera started off with a Confusion attack. It picked up the Mawile and slammed her back to the ground. Mawlie then started crying. Your Ralts fell for it hook, line, and sinker. She felt pity for her opponent and walked over, trying to apologize. Mawile turned off the water works and then used Astonish. Emera was hit and backed off quickly. She Growled to finish off the round, lowering Mawile's attack power. Katrina said, "Alright then, lets show this kid your egg move. It will be quite a shock." Your move.

Even Richard fell for the fake tears. He thought they were legitimate. A grin stretched across his face as he saw Katrina's Pokémon in pain. At least until it used astonish. He cringed as he saw his brand new Pokémon knocked back by the attack.

Emera's movepool was rather limited. As far as Richard could remember, all she knew was confusion and growl. But then he remembered back to when he was first battling her. At the beginning of the battle, she used agility. Perhaps it would be a good idea to use it again, just for good measure.

"Whatever she's planning, don't let her do it. Emera, use agility, then confusion. There's no telling what that thing will pull on us next."

You call Mawile a thing? That's actually quite rude to call HER an it. If she would have heard you, you would probably be on the ground in pain. Mawile have been known to be quite touchy at times. Be glad she couldn't hear you.

Emera listened to your commands and quickly started concentrating on Agility. A few moments later and she felt quite a bit lighter and agile. She then set straight to work on Confusion. However, right before it was unleashed, Mawlie rushed in and delivered a nasty Sucker Punch right to your Ralts' gut. The impact sent her rolling head over heals backwards along the ground. Emera finally stopped and unleashed the penned-up Confusion attack, blasting Mawlie back to her trainer. If you were to look at the stats, I'm sure you would see that this is not going well for you. Perhaps a change in tactics is in order?

Richard watched as Emera used agility. Then the mawile attacked with a sucker punch. He couldn't help but cringe when he saw Emera take such a hit. But he felt somewhat relieved when the confusion was successful. Now Emera was ready for more orders.

He wondered what else his ralts might know. And he needed something to hurt that mawile. He thought of a new strategy. He wondered what else Emera might know. Then he gave new orders.

"Emera, use confusion then follow up with skull bash and another confusion to finish the round off."

Hopefully this would work out better than the last tactic.

((BTW, I forgot to mention earlier that you can use 2 attacks per round and 3 attacks for one round per battle))

I think I've figured out the problem with your orders. You don't give enough insight into your strategy to Ralts. You may imagine something happening, but neither Ralts or I do. That just might be your problem. Some more description in your commands would be good regardless whether you believe me or not. (Seriously, try to flesh out your posts above the bare minimum.)

Katrina quickly gave her orders, "Mawlie, use Fake Tears and then Tackle." Definitely not as potent as last time, which is good for you. Emera quickly started off with Confusion, taking control of Mawlie's body and slamming her into the ground again. This brought about another bout of Fake Tears, which did not fool Ralts this time. She quickly ran forward with her head lowered. Mawile was too busy crying to notice the assault and got hit hard. It took a few seconds to stop her momentum, but once she did, Emera used Confusion again without even giving Mawile a chance to retaliate. The good news is that this brought the score even again. Rejoyce in your luck and pray it lasts.

The mawile now had slightly less energy than Emera. A few more hits like Emera had just delivered, and that thing goes down. But only time will tell. Richard had seen the results and calculated his next strategy.

Richard noticed that the mawile seemed to have no will to retaliate immediately after an attack. Consecutive hits from Emera left her weaker. He knew no attack Emera is capable of would have much of an effect on the mawile. But he had to work around that.

Richard gave his next commands, "Use confusion, then head in for a tackle."

Richard had noticed that the fake tears had no effect on Emera previously. That's because Emera was too busy attacking to notice. Hopefully another combo like this would work out.

Oh, Fake Tears still had an effect, but Emera didn't bother with noticing them. What's the old saying? Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me. I might have that backwards. Anyway, you get the point, so I'll just leave it at that while Katrina gives her commands. "Alright, lets finish this up. Use Tackle and follow up with Astonish."

Both you and Ralts knew that if both attacks hit, this battle would be over. However, Emera knew what she had to do. Mawlie started off and rushed in trying to Tackle. Ralts quickly stopped that with a well timed Confusion. It stopped Mawile in her tracks. Emera then forced her back along the ground and sent her full speed at herself. With only about a second to go, she gave up control and Tackled for all she had. Mawlie hit the ground hard, knocked out. Ralts gained 77 :exp and grew to level 7.

Katrina returned her Mawile and walked over to you. She held out her hand for you to shake. When you do, you can feel a lump in her hand that she passed to you. As she is leaving, you look down to see a wad of cash, $80 to be precise. Well now, a trip back inside the Pokémon Center and then where? Maybe another battle?

The second battle in a row Richard had won. This was a miracle, for him anyway. Although, this battle was won with his newly caught ralts. Perhaps Emera was a bit more reliable than Psyche. But then again, it was Psyche who successfully captured Emera.

Richard held out his pokeball and called Emera back. He was still just feet away from the Pokémon center. He attached the pokeball to his belt and made his way back inside to heal his Pokémon from yet another successful battle. When he finally got to the counter, he handed his pokeball to the nurse on duty for her to heal.

You walked back into the large building, no-one had left or entered since you had last been in here which wasn't that long so there was no major changes apart from one boy seemed to be standing quite prominently out from all of the other people in the Pokécenter. He was standing on one of the harder chairs and yelling. You turned your back on it and handed over Emera's Pokeball.

The nurse behind the desk and blinked. She looked at the Pokeball and said hotly under her breath. "I've just healed this Pokémon, you must be some irresponsible trainer!" She began yelling. A male nurse quickly came over and ushered her into the back of the building. "Sorry about that" he said. "She sometimes get's a bit cranky."

He then took the Pokeball and placed it into a machine and took it out after it bleeped to signify that it had finished healing your Ralts. He handed back the Pokeball to you with a smile and looked irritantly towards the young man still shouting on the chair. He was actually quite annoying now that you stopped and listened to him.

"I have, THE, ultimate Pokémon," he was declaring to those who would listen in the Pokémon Center. "If anyone here thinks they're tough enough to take it on then come on up here," he teased. What was this ultimate Pokémon. Was there a trace of irony in his voice? Well whatever it was you had a good team so far, you could take him couldn't you?

(You don't have to fight by the way :) )

"Irresponsible?" replied Richard to the nurse, "Irresponsible? Did you just call me irresponsible? I just had a battle outside with someone. You're calling me irresponsible for coming back to heal my Pokémon? Would it be responsible to have left my Pokémon in its pokeball to suffer? You have some lip, woman."

Then, the man came. Richard was a bit annoyed at the female's behavior. But, he was happy to hear an apology. As he received his pokeball, he was still a bit annoyed. But not so much the nurse, but the audacious boy screaming about an ultimate Pokémon of some sort.

He looked at the boy, strangely. Richard was unsure if this kid was joking, or was just crazy. But whatever he was, he was annoying. He shook his head and turned back to the male nurse.

"Is that kid bothering you?" asked Richard, "I could get rid of him if you want."

The man stared blankly, then back to the boy shouting. He wasn't much taller than yourself and was about the same build aswell. He had shoulder length brown hair with wide green eyes. He wore a blue jacket with many pockets with many objects hanging out of them. He worse jeans and beneath his jacket you could see a black shirt with a dollar sign emblazoned on it.

The boy was still coaxing people into trying to battle him. The man looked back at you and said simply, "How about we team up, a double battle against the kid?" He asked. He walked from the front of the desk where a Chansey quickly took over his work and joined next to you. The boy saw the two of you and saw that instantly you wanted a battle.

"A double eh?" he said quite eagerly. He tossed one Pokeball first which exploded with a burst of white light and quckly snapped back to the boy's hand. Before him stood a star shaped Pokémon with a circular red gem that shone brightly in it's center. The boy then took off another Pokeball from his belt, it was in a pokeball with a sticker on it, maybe this was his prized Pokémon?

He tossed the Pokeball into the air; "Showtime!" He yelled. The Pokeball burst open and instead of the usual flash of light that came from a Pokeball, purple, yellow, orange and red petals showered the area. The petals came together to form an outline of a Pokémon. It blinked and shook them off to reveal it's true form. A cricket Pokémon, but it was extremely uncommon to see one at it's level. Maybe that was why it was so treasured?

The clerk tossed a Pokeball into the air and the normal display of light followed and a moon shaped Pokémon hovered in front of it's master. Now it was you who had not yet placed a Pokémon in the place of battle. You didn't have much choice but who would you choose to carry out the task? Hoot-hoot or Ralts? Psyche or Emera?

"A double battle?" replied Richard to the male nurse, "Sure."

Richard saw the audacious kid on the chair had already caught on. And now a battle was brewing. Richard watched to see what Pokémon would be called out. First he saw a staryu, that wasn't too much of a problem.

Then the kid called out his next Pokémon. This was, apparently, the "ultimate" Pokémon. Richard began to question the boy's sexuality when he saw a storm of petals emerge from his pokeball and form a kricketune. Most male trainers wouldn't decorate their male Pokémon with flower petals.

Then the nurse called out a lunatone. This was a bit of a problem. Undoubtedly that staryu knew a water mover or two. That wouldn't be good. Now it was Richard's turn. Although Emera was stronger, he needed some experience for Psyche. So he pulled out Psyche's pokeball and called her out. Psyche appeared in a flash of light, completely recovered from the last battle.

"OK, fruitcake, let's see what you can do," said Richard to the rather annoying boy.
