Welcome to the more beautiful of the cities in Tohea, Wayford, where one could normally go to the beach to find many wild Pokémon. But unfortunately, it seems that wild Pokémon are becoming a lot less frequent, and I've heard stories about some disappearing in the middle of a battle. It's a pretty serious thing if you think about it, because then you won't be able to find anyone to put on your team. And if you do happen to find one, how do you know that they won't disappear on you? Some trainers have even been giving reports of their Pokémon behaving strangely, as if something was happening. Things still look nice though, and people haven't given up all hope yet, as many are still going to the beach. And people are battling each other a lot more too to train up their Pokémon, because nobody has reported their Pokémon vanishing yet. Maybe it's something that's only happening to wild Pokémon, for whatever reason that may be. Other than battling another person, you could go searching for a wild Pokémon, even if they are hard to come by. You could also go to the Pokémart and see what's there for sale and whatnot, or the Pokémon Center to get some news and hang out. Whatever it may be, you should probably get going though, because there's a large group of nasty looking people headed your way... |

The time was approximately noon. When Richard was walking down a Wayford street. The expression on his face was blank, as usual. To him it was just another day that came and will pass. As of late, Ricky had been having minimal luck with his Pokémon journey he was forced upon by his father. In attempt to keep himself from boredom, Ricky unlatched his pokeball from his belt as it became its normal size again. Psyche, his hoothoot, exited the ball in a form of white energy before transforming into her normal form as a hoothoot. She let out a loud hoot sound in excitement of seeing the light of day again, despite being nocturnal. But the day was still better than the pokeball. Noticing her owner was walking, she began to trot behind him. "Man, Psyche," said Ricky, "I'm going nowhere. Day after day I look for a Pokémon, but we never have any luck. If we're ever lucky enough to find one, it gets away. There's no way I can win back dad's respect with just you. I need others. Maybe I should leave Wayford, go on a journey. Maybe I'll have luck elsewhere." "Hoothoo!" replied hoothoot, agreeing with her owner. Edited by Waffle, Dec 30 2008, 11:01 AM.

Honor, prestiege, respect. Your striving pretty high for a fresh trainer. But, you need lofty goals to push yourself to do your very best. You need to beat your father, which will take plenty of effort on your part. For that matter, Psyche's as well. So, what's this about not being able to find a Pokémon? Have you looked around lately? There are Pokémon everywhere, but you have to look in places where there aren't quite so many humans. Alleyways are excellent places to look, especially since Rattata love looking for food around trash cans and dumpsters. That wouldn't be your choice of dining, but it's a buffet for them. You continue walking down the street, peering into alleys as you make your way toward where ever your heart leads. After about five blocks, you find: nothing. Not a single Pokémon in sight. You start losing faith, but end up overhearing a couple of more experienced trainers discussing the lack of wild Pokémon. Between rumors and first hand experience, something must be up to cause this. Another two blocks, and you end up hearing a banging sound from the next side street. You look in and see nothing. But then, a head peeks out from behind a dumpster. Green hair and white skin. That could only be one thing: a Ralts. Lv. 6 ![]() Well, this Ralts looks rather curious about what your doing. Perhaps a battle is in order? It's your choice though. I'm only leading you to it. |

As Ricky continued to walk down the Wayford street, he seemed not to notice the ralts. He glanced at the ralts as he walked by. Having been in such a depressed state lately, he barely paid any mind to it. Psyche had been following behind him still. She hooted and pointed her wing towards the ralts. "What is it, Psyche? Yeah, that kid has green hair, so wha-- Oh wait, it's a Pokémon!" Ricky was overcome with a mixture of excitement and nervousness. Finally, a Pokémon. And it wasn't some petty bidoof or pidgey, it was a ralts. Ricky knew what he had to do. Fortunately, he had three pokeballs on his person to catch the ralts. Although Ricky was a novice, he knew the ralts had to be weakened first. "Psyche, use tackle!" Psyche went on the offensive, having had orders from her owner. She quickly hopped across the street to where the ralts appeared. Immediately, Psyche lunged herself at the ralts in a tackle attack. Ricky clenched his teeth, hoping the attack would hit. |

The young Ralts seemed to be looking around, rather than concentrating on you and your Hoothoot. Something was on her mind, but your not psychic, so you don't even notice. You gave your little owl an order and she was off and hopping. So you know for next time, one attack per turn will get you nowhere on Tohea, or even set back. For that reason, we have the Global Attack List that offers a wider range of attacks that a Pokémon can use. It may come in handy for more than just this battle. Regardless, Ralts never saw the attack coming until it was too late. She got hit by the Tackle and responded quickly with a Confusion attack of her own. It sent your Hoothoot reeling, trying to clutch her head. Then, for good measure, Ralts Growled, lowering your attack power. It seems like Ralts won't be distracted any longer. So, what will you do now? Lv. 5 ![]() 28/35 96%(Attack -1) Lv. 6 ![]() 31/37 93%

Ricky winced as he saw his Psyche fly back from the confusion attack, then saw how the ralts followed up with a growl. This ralts was strong, well it was to him anyway. But this didn't get him down. If anything, it made Ricky want to catch it even more. Psyche got to her one foot and narrowed her eyes at the ralts, awaiting further orders. Ricky noticed the ralts still seemed to be in good physical condition. The tackle didn't do much. So he pondered for a split second. Then he had it. The next move. "Psyche, use gust!" he ordered. Psyche began to flap up her wings, whipping up a gust of wing. After the gust had been conjured, it was flung towards the ralts. |

Gust is a respectable attack, but one with many openings. If you were a wise trainer, you would have given your Pokémon another attack option or two, should something go wrong. I'm not saying it will, but you never can be too careful. You do only have one Pokémon to work with. A little bit of caution goes a long way. Whether you understand my cryptic speech or not, there is still a battle going on. Psyche began flapping her little wings, trying to build up some sort of power. The Ralts took this slight lull to her advantage, delivering another crippling Confusion attack. Your Hoothoot doubled over, allowing the Gust attack to fizzle out, more so against her will. Then, to add insult to injury, Ralts ran at Psyche and Tackled her. Your little owl was sent sliding on the ground, only stopping at your feet. She looked up at you, expecting more help than she was currently getting. Ralts still looks pretty strong. Still feeling up to it? Lv. 5 ![]() 17/35 92%(Attack -1) Lv. 6 ![]() 31/37 82%

"This ralts doesn't play by the rules," said Ricky to himself. As he saw Psyche slide to his feet, he began to wonder what he should do at this point. He noticed that the ralts was winning because it was using two moves at once. Perhaps he should do the same. Quickly, he thought of what he should do. He noticed the ralts was now right in front of his hoothoot. "Psyche, use tackle!" Ricky wouldn't even bother to check what came of his attack. Either way, he had a backup plan. Psyche lunged herself at the ralts in a tackle attack. Not even bothering to see if the attack his or not, Ricky gave Psyche new commands. "Psyche, follow up with peck! Then a growl!" This was new to Psyche. Ricky had just given her a ton of commands. But could she actually pull off a sequence of three moves? |

It was starting to look grim there for a bit, but I think something actually got through. Now you're sounding like a real trainer. A little more confidence in yourself and your Pokémon. Just that little bit can go a long way. But, I'm sure you would much rather know what happened to the battle, so lets get to it. Psyche charged in with the Tackle. Luckily for you, Ralts was in the middle of using Agility, so she didn't see it coming. On top of that, Ralts lost concentration and the potential boost from the move. Finally something is going your way. After plowing into the little psychic type, Hoothoot kept her momentum and followed up with a Peck attack. Ralts layed there for a few moments before getting back up. She was looking tired, but still managed to Growl at Psyche. Psyche was almost back to you and whipped around and gave a Growl of her own. May I say that was much better. With any luck, this Ralts may yet be yours. Lv. 5 ![]() 17/35 81%(Attack -2) Lv. 6 ![]() 21/37 78%(Attack -1) |

Ricky was amazed at how successful that last attack was. He was now seeing how much power Psyche really held. Not only that, but he was seeing potential in himself as a trainer. Psyche was still full of energy, but so was the ralts. It wasn't quite pokeball time yet. Ricky as Ricky saw his Psyche cast off a growl, he prepared his next attack. Psyche was capable of much more than Ricky had estimated. He now knew he could count on his hoothoot. Then the ralts used another growl. A minor setback, but one little growl can't decide a battle. But nevertheless, the ralts was growing more tired as the battle stretched on whereas Psyche seemed still raring to go. Ricky had calculated his next move, "Psyche, use another growl. Then follow up with another tackle-peck combo," he said to his hoothoot. |

Well, well. It looks like someone is finally understanding the game. This is good, but it still won't guarrantee a capture. For that matter, there is no guarrantee anything will happen in your favor. But, you just have to see for yourself. Muhahaha. Psyche opened this round off with Growl. Honestly, I don't see why your doing it when Ralts is special attack based. Regardless, Ralts Growled back, lowering your attack once again. She then charged forward for a Tackle. Ralts knew this was coming and braced herself. It hit, but did minimal damage. The Peck that quickly followed did a fair bit more, but not nearly enough. Ralts then used Confusion, except this time, picked Psyche up and threw her into a wall. It looked like a crippling blow for your Hoothoot. What will you do now? Lv. 5 ![]() 10/35 68%(Attack -3) Lv. 6 ![]() 14/37 69%(Attack -2) |

Ricky's heart skipped a beat when he saw Psyche slam into a wall. Psyche struggled to get up, but she still had some energy to fight. Ordinarily, Ricky would consider this time to quit. But he noticed the ralts had taken a significant amount of damage as well. As Psyche hopped back to Ricky, he had a plan ready. His last resort. He was going to go full out. Regardless of what consequences may come of it. He leaned over to Psyche, "Alright Psyche, I'm going to need you to just do what you can. Use peck, then jump back and use a tackle. But don't stop there, go full-out. Do what you can. Give her hell." Ricky watched as Psyche hopped forward to attack. While his hoothoot attacked, he pulled a pokeball out of his bag. He didn't even see what had come of Psyche's efforts, but he tossed his pokeball directly at the ralts, clenching his teeth as he awaited the outcome. |

You should consider yourself lucky that this Ralts is still here. Just don't expect too many more to show up. Maybe you'll get lucky after this and find a Rattata or a Pidgey. They are fairly many of them, or used to be. But before you go looking for more Pokémon, how about healing your current one? Psyche is going to need a trip to the Pokémon Center and so is Ralts, if you can catch her. Psyche started off at a run, set on delivering a solid Peck attack. Ralts was relatively prepared, but still got hit. Psyche backed off like you asked, but that only spelled trouble for her. Ralts unleashed another Confusion, raising Psyche into the air and then slamming her to the ground. Once released, she was easy pickings, but gave an all out Tackle attack right back. It ended up being a rather critical hit, also the one that finally decided the battle. Ralts was definitely weak enough to be caught by then, so you threw your Pokeball. It soared through the air and tapped the Ralts, who got sucked in with a flash of light. It shook for about fifteen seconds before the lock clicked. Congradulations, you've just netted yourself a Ralts and 30 for Psyche. (Your profile will be updated momentarially)

Richard lifted the pokeball of his newly caught ralts from the ground. He was overcome with joy that he had finally caught his first Pokémon. Well, technically speaking, this was his second Pokémon. But he didn't consider Psyche to actually be his Pokémon. He considered her to belong to his father. This was the first Pokémon he caught by himself. "I think I'll call you Emera," he said, officially nicknaming his ralts. He pressed the button on the pokeball as it shrunk down to the size of a ping pong ball and attached it to his belt. Psyche made a little hoot sound in celebration of her successful battle before collapsing. Richard called her back to her pokeball. "Well, Psyche," he said to his pokeball, "We did it. Now we just have to get to the Pokémon Center." Richard knew where the local Pokémon Center was. He had been there dozens of times with Psyche. He attached Psyche's pokeball to his belt and was off to the Pokémon Center. Edited by Waffle, Jan 8 2009, 01:45 PM.

((I did your profile a bit earlier with the nickname, so you know.)) So, you finally caught your first Pokémon. That is quite the accomplishment and something you won't soon forget. Although, if your first was a Cthooloo instead... that might be just slightly more memorable. Or maybe even emotionally scarring, but your chances of running into one of these creatures is rather slim. Considering, these creatures showed up one day, caused utter mayhem and then left. Some lucky, or foolish, trainers did manage to catch them. They say that even after catching a Cthooloo, they still radiate an aura of madness and have the potential to turn on their trainers at any time. They are still feared long after the attack ended. Anyway, you have nothing to fear of these creatures. They're long gone and your headed to the Pokémon Center. Once there, you handed your two pokeballs over to the nurse on duty. She placed them on the healing machine. After a minute or so, she handed them back, fully healed. As you were about to leave, a girl nearly ran into you. She quickly said, "Oh, I'm sorry, I wasn't watching where I was going. My name is Katrina, nice to meet you." Katrina then looked down to your waist and said, "Your a trainer too? Then, would you like to have a battle? I'll go easy on ya." She winked at you and motioned you to follow her outside and to the side of the Center. Will you take her up on her battle? Your move Casanova. |
