Cody smiled softly as his Chansey squashed the Oddish. She had managed to almost cut the poor creature's health in half. Now with the defensive disadvantage on the Oddish's part, this battle would be easy. Just a matter of time before the little seed will be planted back into the ground. Though the Oddish could use Absorb attacks, it still needed to latch onto Chansey to do so. Then Chansey could simply use the same defense that he had tried to avoid with Barboach. PLOP! "Alright Chansey, it's a low level, so chances are it only knows those two attacks! So if it tries to use Absorb on you, just flop straight down on top of it! Since it has to latch on to you to attack, besides simple physical attacks, you will be fine! And due to it's small size and floppy and horrible stature, just look at those floppy feet, any physical attacks should bounce right off of you! Now use a Pound attack on the Oddish again! Don't bother dodging, not with your evasion down. Your size will be enough anyway. When your done with the Pound attack, use a Body Slam to try and finish it off, or at least paralyze it!" Crying, Oddish ran about, trying to get away from Chansey so she couldn't hurt anymore. In order to do this, she used an Agility, and she seemed to fly in comparison to your Chansey. Although I suppose that that could be because Chansey is just a big fat... thing that needs some aerobic classes. Up, down, up, down, alright now let's take a deep breath, and now, why don't you just drop like fifty pounds? Okay, I guess that that's really not very realistic, but still, don't you think that that'd be helpful? Eventually though, Oddish knew she had to do something, and so she leaped into the air to attach herself onto Chansey. That's when it all ended for the little weed Pokémon, and she figured maybe she should have stayed in hiding until night. Chansey's arm came up and whacked Oddish down with a Pound attack, and then while she was still down, Chansey used Body Slam like you asked. However, it didn't end the Oddish like you had hoped, and it definitely was not Paralyzed. Also, while she was being squashed, she attached herself to your egg carrying Pokémon and used Absorb. So now it's only helped heal it back up somewhat! ![]() Level 6 31/37 65%(Evasion -1) ![]() Level 8 18/41 81%(Speed +1, Defense -1) |

Cody decided it was time to implement a faint idea he had while thinking of the Oddish latching. With the Oddish attached, as it was now, then it was completely vulnerable. There was no way it could heal itself as fast as it took damage. So let's make a true sumo out of Chansey. Time to really take advantage of the fat that someone seemed not to be so fond of (*glares at Dark*). He crouched down to his knees, as a golfer would inspect a putt before hitting. He liked this view better, it gave him a more personal viewing. It helped him make better judgments. Lining up the shot, he took his hopefully final swing. "Alright Chansey, time for a three move combo. This should finish the battle. And the three moves will be quite easy. It might mean you sacrificing another egg, but you can always grow another one as you did before. Now listen closely. Since you're on top of the Oddish, and it's attached, it will take a second of effort for it to detach itself. Take advantage of that second. get up and immediately belly flop with a Body Slam! The Oddish should still be trapped beneath you! Then I want you to flop again with another Body Slam. Then I want you to flop with a third and hopefully final Body Slam. No Oddish can take that much punishment. Now if the Oddish manages to get away on the first belly flop, just nail it with a Pound attack. Then hit it with that last Body Slam. If it gets away after the second Body Slam, just hit it with a Pound attack afterward. No matter what, you got three moves to execute. You ready?" ------------------------- OOC: just in case, this is how it goes PRIMARY STRATEGY: Flops with three Body Slams while Oddish is still attached (Body Slam, Body Slam, Body Slam) IF ODDISH ESCAPES ON THE FIRST TRY: Hit it with a Pound and use Body Slam (Body Slam-failed, Pound, Body Slam) IF ODDISH ESCAPES ON SECOND TRY: Hit it with a Pound (Body Slam, Body Slam-failed, Pound) |

There was nothing the trainer could do as Chansey unleased her attacks. Body Slam, good so far. Body Slam again, Oddish jumps free, but cant move anymore as the pound lands hard. Oddish is well and trully pommeled now, and the trainer returns her quickly to avoid another attack. "You stupid emo, why don't you just go home and kill youself, the world will be better off without you!" he called, you understood he was angry, but that was no way to speak to somene sch as you was it? Anywho, you had won the battle, hardly a trial was it. Chansey gained 96 and grew to Lv. 7The traier was very distressed, and clenched his fists. Fo a second he looked like he was going to lash out at you. Until a hand rested on his shoulder, it was a girl about his age, "Let it go Sam, he won fair and square, Oddish will be fine when we get her back to the Pokémon center." The trainer uncurled his fists and stormed off towards town. The girl went to follow him then turned back to you, "Forgive him, he's had a troubled pas involving... well, 'emos' good luck on your journey, I must catch up to Sam or he might hurt himself" she smiled waved and left. It was a short while before someone came around the twist in the road on a bicycle that you decided to move on again, they wizzed past you. creating a gust of wind, a Taillow flying happily in its wake. However, it brought something else with it. From above you a Pokémon fell from a branch onto you shoulder, you saw it was a Starly, young and not yet strong enought to support itself on the branch above. It smiled and nuzzled against your neck. It seems to have grown fond of you quite quickly, what are you going to do? Lv.3

Cody glared at the kid. He wasn't emo. He liked the hairstyle. Bastard. What was a kid doing mouthing off to someone as big as Cody? And then clenching his fist? The pipsqueak was pretty brave, or stupid. Then his sister came along and put some sense into him. Though the trainer hadn't given him money. Cheap bastard now. Then he felt the breeze and saw the Taillow. If only he had a Pokémon that could reach it to attack. But then the Starly popped out of the tree and cuddled him on his shoulder. He softly petted the bird. If he played it smart, he could get the Pokémon to agree to catch him. He let the Chansey stay out a little longer. A happy Pokémon like that would help keep this Starly. He let it perch on his shoulder and knelt to the ground and called Chansey over towards him. If he complimented and urged his CHansey, the Starly would see him as a nicer person as well. "Chansey, good job on that battle. You did really good out there. You feeling pumped now? Here, meet Starly. He kinda fell onto us. He seems not to mind us though. Maybe you want to meet him? Be nice to him and maybe he will join us." Cody got an empty Pokeball ready for the Starly. If the Chansey or Cody's talking convinced him, then he would catch Starly. If not, he'd battle the Starly with Barboach. But an agreement would save him time to get moving on towards the river. |

It appears to me that that battle ended in your favor, and at the same time that your last ref managed to take a wild Pokémon and give it an owner out of nowhere. That's very interesting, and I think I'm absolutely confused by it, but I shall just overlook that odd happening. At least he was able to somehow pop a Starly your way, which is very nice, although I think a lot of good luck has been going your way. Right now I can't think up of a way in which bad luck can follow, but don't be fooled, because eventually it will hit. You can't expect to get lots of good with nothing bad coming, because there's a way in which things balance out. Call it what you like, but I like to refer to it as the refs of Tohea being absolutely cruel to people like you. Anyways, Chansey, being a very sweet and lovable Pokémon, did exactly what you said and jumped up, grabbing the bird. She nuzzled it and petted its head, and the Starly looked quite a bit surprised and actually cried out, afraid at first. However, he eventually saw what was happening and gave a happy chirp before nuzzling Chansey back. They started talking, and it wasn't too long before Starly got back on your shoulder and looked out at everything. It was clear then that he had decided he wasn't going anywhere and was going to stick with you, although Chansey began to wave about at you. To say it short and sweet, Chansey is trying to point out that although you'd like to capture Starly in a Pokeball, it might not be a very good idea. It seems that Starly does view himself as free, although he would be more than happy to travel with you guy and battle for you and the like. After awhile, I'm sure he'll be more than happy to let you capture him in a Pokeball that pretty much enslaves him for life. But for now, I think you should take things a bit slow. |

Cody saw that the bird was just looking for a bit of a hitch. That was fine. So long as the bird listened to him. He returned Chansey and let Starly ride on his shoulder. He continued walking on the Route. He had to reach the river soon, for that was quite close to Tohea City. Unless he was stopped by more obstacles. Though he has had quite a bit of good luck with these obstacles he has run in to. He stretched his arms out, minding the Starly, and cracked his neck. Decent weather, nice stroll, good day. Of course, that only meant he was about to get a bad card sometime soon. Though he felt he had gotten plenty of bad cards what with losing all his money, Pokémon, and LIFE as it was. But it didn't work like that. All he did was cross his fingers and hope the day would go smoothly. |

Starly gave a twitter as you stretched, also allowing his wings to expand from his body. Just then, all the chirps that you had been hearing earlier stopped, and a cold wind blew in from somewhere. With another chirp, you felt Starly shudder a bit from the brisk coldness and he moved himself closer to your face. Craving warmth, he rubbed up against you, creating a bit of friction that also warmed up his feathers. At the same time, you could feel your face getting warmer from the nice down that the bird had. If you weren't so human hearted, you may have thought of opening up a store where you sold Starly coats and the like. But I'm sure you would never do that, would you? After some more walking, you saw a trainer sprinting down the route towards you, and when he got there, he stopped, looking over his shoulder. "Hey, I could really use your help man. There's a couple of guys chasing after me, trying to steal my Pokémon. Do you think you could at least slow them down for me? Thanks!" Before he could even get a reply from you he took off again, running as if the end of the world was following close behind him. Looking back from where he came from, you could see faint outlines of two men also running quickly. One of the men was tall and skinny, and you could tell that he was born a natural runner, and probably was on a track team of some kind. He had short, black hair, and his eyes were set kind of close together, and he looked pretty cold. Wearing a black shirt that had a skull on it, and some dark blue pants, you could tell that he must not be a guy to mess with. Then again, if you did mess with him, you could possibly take him, only because he did look pretty light. The other guy, on the other hand, was shorter and built pretty well, not fat, but greatly muscled. He wore a tight white shirt and carpenter style jeans with a boot cut. Undoubtedly, he was the beef head of this duo while the other one was more of the brains in the operation. So what do you do? Are you going to help that guy out like he asked, or are you just going to step by and let these two chase after him? You never know what you could take off of these guys if you decide to take them on and knock them out or something. That bigger guy might be tough to take on, but I'm sure Starly and Chansey together could take him out. Starly would just fly around his head, making him try to get him, while Chansey can just knock him down and try to knock him out. But that could be dangerous for your Pokémon and the friend you have on your shoulder there. It's entirely up to you. Wayford City is still a ways away after all... |

When the Starly brushed against his cheek, Cody was struck with a great business idea. Pokémon-skin clothing. It would be an easy money maker! Seviper boots, Arcanine coat, Starly down scarf, it was perfect! It would be really inexpensive, he would need only a knife and maybe some traps. A few hours work and voila! An easy thousand dollar coat. But he put the thought to the back of his head as he saw the runner come by. Why did he bother asking him to help? Cody was thrown between him and his adversaries anyway. Not a whole lot Cody could do otherwise, except maybe trip the runner. He almost did, but he thought better. If these guys were thieves then they couldn't report him if he stole their Pokémon. So beating these guys down could be a good idea. Very profitable. "Hey boys. Easy now. That guy seems pretty fast. Got to be quicker than that. You, the little sickly looking one, you should have been able to get him easy. You though, meathead, why did you even bother running? Let tiny there do it. But I guess the small one didn't get to team up with you if it was YOU who was the brains, right? I got an idea. Wanna play a game?" Cody sneered maliciously. Hopefully before the team could react he sent out Chansey. Then he looked to Starly. "These guys tried to mug that running trainer we saw. SO we're gonna help him out. Starly, would you help? I need you to fly around the big guy's head and peck him here and there, but mostly distract him. Chansey, use a few Pound attacks on the big guy try and get him unbalanced. I got the other guy myself." Cody ran up to the small guy and attempted a football tackle on him. If that worked, he would proceed to throw punches right at the guy's nose. If he messed up the tackle, he would simply spin his legs out to trip the guy, and pounce on him. Once tiny was dispatched, and his Pokémon softened up meathead, he could take the big guy too. |

Both of the guys stopped dead in front of you, and as you talked, the brains of the operation started to get angry. You saw his face turn red, and just as you started giving out your commands, he turned to meathead. Unfortunately for them, neither one of the two was quick enough to stop you from carrying out an action plan. Without any Pokémon to defend themselves with, because they weren't fast enough to release them, they were thrown into a fight. Starly immediately flew off to the big guy and flew around his head, pecking him occasionally. Chansey started to use Pound like you had asked, making the guy double over once she got his stomach. Meanwhile, you had decided to try to play it like a football player and tackle skinny bones over here. Well his eyes widened when he saw you charge and he actually screamed like a little girl, unable to stop you. And meathead wasn't about to help when he had his own problems with your Pokémon hitting him and all. The guy went down quickly, and like you said, you started to punch him hard in the face, and it wasn't long before his nose started to bleed. Eventually he was knocked out cold, which left you the big guy, who was now starting to fight back against your Pokémon. Of course that really wasn't doing anything, as Starly was able to dodge him and Chansey was too soft for him to actually do anything. When you tackled him, the big guy also went down like a sack of potatoes, and I have to admit that this whole scene was pretty entertaining. It wasn't long before he was knocked out as well. Looking at them, you could see that they each only carried one Pokémon apiece (of course I can't give you a whole load of them) and nothing else. So should you decide to take those, you'd probably want to start back on your way to the grand ole city of your choice. |

Cody stood up, scoffing after such an easy fight. What kind of criminals were these people? If they couldn't handle one guy and some Pokémon, who did they plan on mugging? After searching the knuckleheads, he found they each had one Pokémon. Must be they were two new trainers out to get a quick start. Cody pilfered the two. There was their quick start. A good lesson. These two knuckleheads would be out for quite awhile. Cody didn't pull back when he swung. The little one's nose could easily be snapped in pieces. He returned Chansey and allowed Starly to rest back on his shoulders. Cody didn't think they got experience from beating up people, but who knows? Anyways. he continued down the road some before checking what Pokémon he had acquired. Last thing he needed was for the Pokémon to try and defend their trainers after they saw their beaten bodies. |

Not all criminals can beat up one guy and a couple of Pokémon, and I don't know why you would think they would. I mean, we're talking about you, who clearly wouldn't just sit by and let them do this stuff, and a freekin CHANSEY! Honestly, who would be able to knock down a Chansey easily as they're using Pound on you? Personally I think I'd be doubled over and crying, probably until my eyes popped right out of my freekin' head. Then again, you know me, and I'm not somebody who would want to even think about fighting a Chansey. I'm a lover, not a fighter, and you know this by Starly hopped back up onto your shoulder and peered down at the Pokeballs you took off of the two guys. He was curious as to what you happened to nab, and hoped that maybe they would make some nice friends. Of course it wouldn't matter if he ended up leaving you after awhile anyways, would it? Maybe now would be a good time to offer a Pokeball to that bird Pokémon and see if he wants to join your team. Then again, that might upset him and cause him to leave you, which is exactly what you don't want, right? But maybe I'm wrong and you're actually seriously thinking about making a coat out of Starly's down? You're not going to do that with this Starly though, are you? I certainly hope not, because I think that he's getting rather attached to you! Anyways, you stalked off, and once you were far enough away from the two wannabe criminals, let the Pokémon out of their balls to see what they were. Well, here you go... *look in your Profile to see them* |

Cody looked impressively at the two Pokémon he had received. Definitely not bad choices. He flipped open his PokeGear and checked the stats. Level 6 both, and Delibird knew Aurora Beam as an egg move. Very impressive. He returned his new team partners, who would hopefully be glad of having a capable trainer. And if they didn't... they would make lovely hats. He then turned to the Starly on his shoulder again. He would have to play this one well if he wanted the new teammate. Though he would have a pretty heavily flying team. Maybe he will wait to try and catch him. If he decided to turn tail, Delibird can freeze it. So he just patted the bird and kept walking, trying to work his way to the river. |

If I remember correctly the next stop on your adventure was Killidad River, the best fishing spot around (or so they claimed). There you could catch your fair share of water Pokémon and train your Barboach who must have been dying to get into the water by now. Lucky for you Killidad River could be seen just over the horizon. At this pace you would be there in a minute or two. The remainder of the trip there was…uneventful to say the least. You saw not one single Pokémon on your way there except for the occasional trainer owned one, but even those were scarce. Could something be causing the Pokémon disappear? Maybe aliens were abducting them and performing horrible unthinkable tests on them. Wait, that’s crazy talk. I bet there just migrating to the northern parts of the region for the winter. Plus what would intelligent beings want Pokémon when we humans would make much better pets. In what seemed like seconds you made it to the river and as an added bonus you hadn’t been probed. Killidad River was much very much the same. Various fishermen were lined up all across the edge of the river with rods in hand. It appeared that none of them were having much luck, most were gathering their equipment and getting ready to leave while the more persistent ones were sitting on their buckets asleep while holding their rods firmly in their hands. The only other noticeable landmark was a small wooden shack located on the western part of the river. A sale sign could be clearly seen taped to the outer wall, but what exactly did this vendor sale in the first place. By the look on his face it was obivious business wasn’t doing so well. Within seconds of you being there an angry fisherwoman bumped into you causing her to waste all of her various fishing gear and Starly to let out a loud squawk and dig its talons into your shoulder. On any normal day she would have apologized, but as you could tell by the emptiness of her bucket, today was not an ordinary day. So she had responded with, “Watch were your going next time you stupid jerk!” before proceeding to gather her equipment. Just as she was about to leave the Starly on your shouder. “So you’re a trainer too? Then you won’t mind if I challenge you to a double battle then”, she snickered as she sent out a Croagunk and a Horsea. All of the previous anger and frustration in her voice was quickly replaced by excitement and anticipation as she exclaimed,“Go get ‘em guys!” So now you have been challenged to a battle and your were not but a food away from the river so this could be the prefect opportunity for you to let your Barboach out for some fresh air and exp. Only one question remained. Do you accept? Oppenent: Level 7 39/39 100% Level 6 37/37 100% |

Cody shuddered slightly as Starly dug into his shoulder. This bitch was gonna get it. He wasn't going to hit her, but he was very tempted. But when she sent out her Pokémon, he got an idea. He didn't have to play by the rules. She was so rude to him, he figured he'd pay her that respect right back. Maybe then she would learn to be a little nicer. "You, ma'am, are extremely rude. YOU bumped into me and you are simply sore because you had a lousy fishing day. I don't see other people having random violent outbursts. So no, I will not accept your double battle. I highly doubt you would pay me anyways. But I will do this." At that moment Cody sent out all four of his Pokémon in front of the Croagunk, except Barboach who stayed nearby in the water, still within pouncing distance of Croagunk. Now it was time to teach her a quick lesson. "Here is a battle for you, ma'am, that might cool your jets some. If you chose the wrong people to be nasty towards, you will find it can get you or your Pokémon hurt. You are safe, no worries dear, but your Croagunk on the other hand... Chansey, give it a Pound attack! Then hit it with a Bodyslam! Then use another Pound! Delibird, use Aurora Beam on thee water around Horsea! That way even if the Pokémon doesn't get frozen, it still can't move! Then use Aurora Beam on Horsea and then a Beam on Croagunk! HootHoot, use Agility, and then fly up some and give Croagunk a BodySlam from above! Barboach, you're in the water now, you're in your element! Use a Mud Slap on Horsea so it won't see you! Then use a Pound attack, and then a Bodyslam! Starly, fly above Horsea and do the same thing you did to that meathead! Peck and Scratch at it a bit when you get the chance!" |
