[[ Welcome to Tohea! Don't forget to take the link of this topic, your journey, and the link to your newly created profile, and put them in your signature. You won't be able to get a ref if you don't! ]] Well, you had officially started your new life... So, now what? Would you take the path of the "common" trainer, as I call them-- Dedicating all their time to capturing every last Pokémon they find? Or would you choose the path of the warrior, finding key Pokémon to fill out your team, and training them until you knew they could kick some serious ass? Or maybe, you might come up with a plan of your own. Yes, that's right. You have a choice. Hey-- Man, I'm just the ref. I give you something to work with, and you do the rest! Soooo...? What's the deal gonna' be? As you pondered, you observed the crowded city around you. Tall buildings, cars honking past, and you couldn't help but notice the bitter cold air that was currently nipping at your private area. It was getting nearer to Christmas... But you couldn't remember when it had gotten cold. Had it been so for long? "Spare a coin?" asked a homeless man, stripped down to nothing but a stained white T-shirt and a pair of ripped khaki pants. His face was dirty, as was the rest of his body. There was a strange glint in his eyes, but you just couldn't put a finger on what it was. Would you give him a coin? Or get on with your life? |

Land ho! Is the first thing heard when Roy wakes up on the boat. After interpreting that as "We're about, to dock! Everyone get ready", He gets his things gathered up, getts dressed, and heads out to the exit. He sees the Peliper flying around the boat and sees where they are about to dock. Roy steps off of the boat, marveling at the new found beauty of this island. He sees many strange poke'mon around, as well as some new ones, a flock of bird poke'mon fly overhead, accentuating the sea near the port where he just arrived. It seems great that there are so much people in the open, town-square looking, place where they docked. He unclipped his pokeball from his belt, enlarged it and released his squirtle. Isn't this great Squirtle? This is where we'll be training from now on! he said. Squirtle! Was the response he received, not expecting anything else. They decided to take a walk around and an old, homeless looking man walked up to them and asked for some spare change, he was wearing very torn up, baggy old clothes and looked like he could use the money. Roy thinks about it for a while, he found something nice about the man, he seemed like he had a secret, but a secret could turn out to be good or bad. He decided to toss the man a coin, give him an extra sandwich that he had packed, and smile a warm smile towards him before heading in the direction of the poke'mon center to see if he couldn't find any other trainers that were just starting out and, like him, would like to start out with a good battle to get their land legs working again(not to mention the training they'd get out of it). The old man stared at you in awe, seeming to be surprised that you had actually offered him some money. Though it was only a simple $5, you would have thought that you just offered him $1 billion. He was so happy he ran right into an alleyway, and you heard a giant crash, and you knew he must have hit a bunch of garbage cans. At least that's what you thought until he came out of the alley again, fully dressed and looking like he was actually... rich? Yes, indeed, it looked like he was wearing Kalvin Klein, and the smell coming from him now was definitely from his cologne line. "Thank you so much for your kind offer. I've spent the past five hours begging, and everybody has shown me nothing but disgust. But you have shown much more compassion. And for that I shall battle you. There is no reason to turn it down either, because besides experience, you will get a Pokémon as well. If you win, you'll get the better Pokémon. If you lose, you'll get the not better Pokémon. If that even makes sense." You could tell that this man was being very serious. So are you willing to do this? He sent out his Pokémon, so you really have no reason to not be sure. ![]() Level 7 39/39 100%

Roy stared blankly at the old man as he suddenly challanged him to a battle. After understanding that he was being completely serious he kneele down to Squirtle. Ok Squirtle, we're going to battle. Are you Ready? Squirtle got a happy look on his face and got in a battle stance. Squirt! He moved forward and stood a few feet away from the opponent's Sentret. Roy pulled out his pokegear and scanned the Sentret revealing that it was a few levels higher than Squirtle, it would be a challenge to defeat. He would have packed a potion if he'd known his first battle would be this. He ran through the situation in his head and thought of what moves the opponent would use, Sentret is a normal type so it would probably stick to physical moves. Dodging would be a good startegy, on the other hand though, he knew sentrets to be tricky little creatures and it could suprise him at any moment, not to mention the fact that he had no idea how experienced the old man was. Finally he settled on a strategy. Ok Squirtle! I want you to use Agility and run up behind him! Then use Tackle and follow up with a Tail Whip to his back! If you see another opening, use Tackle again! Roy had planned to out run the Sentret and stay safe. |

The old man smiled when he saw that you accepted his challenge. When he heard what you called for your Squirtle to do he nodded in approval. "Very good and what a good strategy but you must keep in mind that doing so much at once will tire out your Squirtle so be careful not to use so many commands in this battle or your Squirtle won't be able to get through this battle. Sentret use your own agility to dodge that Tackle attack when Squirtle comes behind you and then use Pound by using your tail," he said. Sentret nodded and used agility to dodge the first tackle attack and counter with pound on your Squirtle but it didn't do too much damage to him. Squirtle came in with another Tackle not doing another Tail Whip just then. He wanted to do some damaged to Sentret like the Sentret did to him. After his tackle hit it's mark Roy could see that the old man was right. Squirtle did look tired after using so many attacks at once in the first round so he will have to be more careful if he wanted to win this battle. "Very good," the old man said. Roy smacked his palm to his head and decided to change what he was doing, Squirtle was fast already, but so was Sentret. He called Squirtle over and whispered to him so the old man couldn't hear. "Ok Squirtle, we're going to try comething different this time. I want you to tackle him and then just dodge untill you see and opening to use bite, take that opening and we'll be wining our first ever battle! Ready Squirtle? Squirtle raised his arms in a flexing position and stated his name readily. Squirtle! As Squirtle went forwards to continue with the battle, Roy thought up a strategy for the rest of the battle, but got sidetracked by thoughts of when he and Squirtle first trained. Before they boarded the boat they had trained in the fields together with some weaker wild poke'mon. In those few days they had begun to get to know eachother and devolope their friendship and strategy, it was the first time Roy had ever battle with a poke'mon. They had evn gotten lost in the storm once and squirtle and Roy had to wait it out in the hollow part of a tree. After all they did, Roy wasn't about to lose their first ever battle with another trainer. "C'mon Squirtle we can do this!" |

The old man smiled as you seemed to realize that Sentret was indeed quite fast. You were already learning, and that was good as far as he was concerned, because more than the Pokémon you could receive, he wants you to learn from battling. He learned how to battle through his own experience battling others, and he had always wanted to be able to go to other regions. Which clearly he did, since you noticed that he had a button on his jacket that said something about Johto. Perhaps that's where he's originally from. "You are learning, though I will try to make things the most difficult for you to be able to teach you the most. Sentret, smack away the Tackle with your tail, would you?" He smiled again, thinking that this was obviously the best way to go about it. But he forgot that Sentret's tail was too soft to simply just wipe away some other Pokémon that had a hard shell. Perhaps he had another Pokémon who had a stronger tail. Squirtle's Tackle connected, squashing Sentret's tail and causing it further pain. The owner winced at his mistake and shook his head. "I didn't think about that. Of course how silly of me. My age must be getting to my battling tactics. Sentret, use a Pound attack and try to keep away from those teeth!" While Sentret seemed to be a bit older and more experienced, Squirtle yet again proved that he could hold his own. As Sentret's little fist came down, Squirtle opened his jaws and let the fist come right in his mouth. He bit down hard, and if he was a snapping turtle, that little cute squirrel thing would be in a bad position. Squirtle wasn't letting go either and Sentret began to cry very loud. "Sentret, just bang him on the ground!" Now the man was showing his signs of being a trainer with no heart for his opponent. "I don't care what you have to do! Smash its shell if need be!" What the hell? Since when was this guy going to be cruel? Did he have multiple personality disorder or something? Oh and feel free to request me if you want. ![]() Level 5 33/35 81% ![]() Level 7 24/37 90%(Speed +1) |

Roy smiled as his tackle took effect. He was sure that the bite would also land, he was right. The old man became angry and irrational in his battle skills when, before, he was cocky and overconfident. Roy just hoped he wouldn't get the same way. Squirtle's speed had returned, but Sentret might still be faster. Roy hopedthat he would be able to win this battle and get his first win in the new region, also winning the good poke'mon wouldn't be bad either. Roy began to try and tell Squirtle what to do next but his strategy would need to be rethought after Squirtle's speed change. "Ok Squirtle! We can win this! I want you to hit him with another Tackle and then Tail Whip, if you can, tackle again, that should bring him down if all goes well! He seems to be getting irrational and we can win this!" Roy yelled to his Squirtle. He wanted Squirtle to be as proud of winning his first battle as he would/will be. If they were both confident, they could win this match and many others that come their way in the future. |

The man seemed to just keep getting angrier and angrier.... Maybe this wasn't such a good idea? "Sentret, Flank that turtle with TACKLE! Crush it to bits!!" He yelled, His Pokémon nodded with what little head it had and used its boosted speed and prepared to plow right through your Squrtle. Lucky for you Squrtle is a bit tougher then Sentret, with little to no time to react your Squrtle narrowly leaped out of the way of the attack with Sentret just grazing his side. As per your command Squrtle took this time to preform a 180 in midair, and launched itself into the Sentrets back with a Tackle. "Sentret!" The man yelled, glaring at you and your overgrown turtle for hurting his precious Pokémon. "Sentret, stand tall and use Tailwhip!" The squirrel slowly stood up and wagged its tail in a hypnotic manner, your Squrtle did the same. Now, both Pokémon are tied once again, Only skill can determine who will win and who will loose. "We can't let these punks beat us, Sentret use Scratch, Then Pound, then boost your energy with Agility and finish them with Solar beam!" The man yelled out, now out of breath from all that screaming... The Sentret just looked at your Squrtle puzzled, And instead of using ANY of those attacks, It stood on its tail started acting like a drunk Spinda on speed. "Sentret what are you DOING?" the old man yelled out, your Squrtle used this time of confusion to its advantage as it rushed in and delivered a swift tackle attack, Knocking it over and sending it rolling back to its master. This battle seems to be heading in your favor, The old man has a priceless look on his face, And you might get a new Pokémon out of the deal. Overall, this was a pretty good welcome party. ![]() Level 5 29/35 76%(Defense -1) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~VS~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ![]() Level 7 16/37 87%(Speed +1) (Defense -1) (Slightly Confused) (feel free to request me.... As Squirtle made contact with the opponent the first time, Roy was thrilled that the battle was going so well, he was, though, worried that his Squirtle could get hurt too badly and, win or lose, he would have to take him to the Poke'mon center. When the old man yelled out for his Sentret to do so many attacks at once, it made Roy laugh for the man had warned him about it earlier in their match and, in his anger, had made the same mistake. When the man told his Sentret to use solarbeam it astonished him! Roy had heard of some Sentret who were able to use solarbeam, even thought they weren't grass types, but never seen one! Roy snapped out of his thinking and analyzing poke'mon techniques, which he usually does, and got back into the battle. Ok Squirtle! We've got them on the ropes, I want you to use agility and follow up with a high-speed tackle! If that doesn't finish him off, use bite! |

If that old man honestly thought that Sentret could pull of a six move combo in one turn then he was... well... really old. To the point of senility, which is entirely possible since he keeps changing his behavior. Like now he's clapping again and nodding in your direction, with smiles on his face like he had when this battle first started. What the hell is up with this guy? "That was very excellent. Really, I am quite astounded. I, Jack Mitsu, am honored to be battling such a well trained individual such as yourself. Alright Sentret, let's try to get back into this shall we? I want you to try a Defense Curl, followed by a Tackle, but still in a little ball. Maybe that will add to the damage. It never hurts to try something new, does it?" With the Agility your Squirtle added to his Speed, he immediately sprinted forward with every intention of ending this battle here. Sentret was already in a curled up ball when he smacked him, causing him to roll backwards a bit. But then he started to roll forwards, and your Squirtle started to run away, not wanting to get hit with the Tackle. After a fifteen second chase, Sentret caught up and crashed into Squirtle, causing him to go flying forward and smack right into a tree. Sentret popped out of his little ball and Squirtle got up, rubbing his head. Then he dove for Sentret, only to crash besides him, with his teeth in the ground. It seems he got a bit dizzy after crashing into the tree. ![]() Level 5 18/35 62%(Speed +1, Defense -1) ![]() Level 7 11/37 74%(Speed +1, Defense -1) |

Roy cursed himself for doing that, he got too cocky and now Squirtle is almost as hurt as Sentret. He took a second to clear his mind with a short meditation practice he had learned. There are no special body positions or anything, so he stayed standing. All the meditation required you to do was breath in to a count of seven, hold to a count of seven, breath out to a count of seven, and repeat. He used this to calm down when he needed to think. Squirtle saw him doing this and, out of habit, ran to his side, interlocked his fingers, and joined him. Apparently they both came up with the same idea as they both looked up at eachother with smiles on their faces. "Ok Squirtle, are you ready to do this!?" Roy exclaimed "Squirtle!" was his reply, but Roy sensed something else behind it. He whispered to Squirtle so the man couldn't hear "Ok Squirtle, go out there and use an avoid and evade tactic until you can bite him, once you've got him in your grip run over to that tree with him and, body slam him into it, and I mean hard! We wanna finish this before you get too beat up now, right?" Squirtle then turned around and, with a triumphant "Squirtle!" started towards Sentret. "C'mon Squirtle! Give it all you've got!" Roy shouted! |

The old man stared at you as you started your meditation and seemed surprised when your Pokémon joined you. However, he didn't stop you, but instead let you two do your thing, which is lucky for you since most trainers probably wouldn't have that kind of patience. Anyhow, as soon as you gave your commands, he smiled at you and nodded in an approving way. It seems that your battle tactic here was pretty good, or so he thought. "Sentret, use an Agility followed by a Quick Attack. I'd like to see Squirtle dodge that!" He laughed and Sentret sprang into action, and you already saw the change in his speed. Much higher, the Quick Attack was really fast, and you barely saw him, meaning that Squirtle was seeing the same thing. Squirtle tried to side step and evade the attack, but he failed and only managed to get hit pretty hard with the attack. That wasn't good for you. However, Squirtle was still fast in his own right, and so now he was circling his opponent and getting closer and closer with each passing second. Eventually he was close enough to where if they both reached out they could touch hands. Squirtle struck, his Bite hitting just like you wanted to, and he actually latched onto the squirrel's arm. Then, listening to what you had wanted, he ran as fast as he could, tugging on the poor Sentret's arm. No matter how hard the Sentret tugged, he couldn't get out of Squirtle's grip by teeth and was smacked right into the tree like you had asked... and fainted. With the victory in your name, the old man looked at you and muttered something before walking over to you and shaking your hand. Or at least that's what you thought he was going to do, but instead he took your hand in a vice grip and whispered in your ear, "Do you think I, Victor Louis, am going to let you get away with that?" Horrified by what was going on now, Squirtle used a Headbutt on him, knocking him down on his ass. This seemed to shake him up, as he smiled at you rather confused like. "What is going on? You won, right? Well congratulations! By my name Jack Mitsu, I give you a Tauros! You would have gotten a Rattata if you lost. Aren't you glad you got this instead?" After all of this, you finally realize what's been going on with this man throughout the whole battle. He had multiple personality disorder, so you might want to take your prize quickly before he changes back into the mean one. I'll add that in along with the 84 Squirtle got. Which means he's now Level 6.

Roy was happy when his Squirtle won the match and they both celebrated untill the man walked up. He came towards them and reached out his hand. "Good battle." Roy said as he grabbed the man's hand. But suddenly the man squeezed his hand and got angry, luckily Squirtle saw this and headbutted the man who soon snapped out of it and handed Roy a poke'ball containing Tauros, after this Roy bolted out of there as fast as he could. Roy walked throught the town with his Squirtle but Squirtle was getting tired so Roy returned him to his poke'ball and decided to head towards a poke'mon center to make sure that Squirtle is all healed and feeling well before anything else happened to them. Roy thought about what poke'mon he wanted to catch along his journey and where he could find them. He decided the he wanted, mostly, a bulbasaur. Secondly he wanted some fire type poke'mon. He could find bulbasaur in grassland, though they were rarely seen, and fire poke'mon...Vulpix were pretty common in the grasslands, as opposed to bulbasaur being hard to find. So if he headed to the meadow outside of town, he would be killing two Pidgey with one stone! First and foremost, though, was the poke'mon center, before anything. That was probably a good call, you running off as fast as you possibly could from that bipolar nutcase. Okay, not bipolar, but someone with multiple personality disorder, but how the hell did you wind up with someone like that? Don't look at me, I didn't realize that that was how things were going to turn out until it just... happened. Seriously, I didn't plan that, it was just a little wrench that popped up in my head that I decided to throw into the works. Hey, you have to admit it came out pretty good, and you got a decent Pokémon as a prize, wouldn't you say? Anyways, you eventually got the Pokémon Center and healed up your Pokémon with nothing stopping you. There was a news broadcast about how a boy had accidentally been put into a movie without his knowledge about a hostage holdup. Irony was abound, as there was a real hostage situation going on in Hurst City, which wasn't too surprising when you thought about it. But still, I'm sure that kid was feeling pretty out of touch with reality, don't you think? Come to think of it, maybe you could head to Hurst city and see what's going on with that hostage situation? Or you could just go into the meadow like you wanted. Either way, there's also word that Pokémon aren't as easily found as they used to be. They think it's just winter migration, but they find it so odd that this is happening so close to the event of those alien things coming down to the planet. My Arceus, things certainly are getting a little crazy, don't you think?! So what is your decision on this whole thing anyways? |
