"Oh my God! The world's ending!" a random man screamed in the street and started running for cover. Being under an umbrella outside of a cafe, you couldn't really see what his problem was. Apparently idiots were all over the place. Sighing, you decided that you'd go back to your nice little bottle of free soda in peace. So far, you were rather impressed with what Tohea City had to offer in terms of attractions. What tasted even sweeter was the realization that you were now a Pokémon trainer, complete with a rare Pokémon in your pocket that you could call your own. More people started screaming, and this finally annoyed you enough to check out what was going on. No sooner had you gotten up from your seat, however, then strange green fireballs started to fall out of the sky. They came at irregular intervals for a while, but soon they began falling in the distance as fast and plentiful as hail. Looking up, your now-unblocked view of the sky showed an inky-black mass of swirling clouds with a kind of endless vortex in the middle. The fireballs were filtering out of this black hole, and you wondered where they were coming from. By how people were swearing and screaming all around you, they were definitely wondering the same thing. Obviously they, like you, hadn't until recently known anything different about the sky this morning than the fact that it seemed to be a cloudless, sunny day. That wasn't now the case, as the sun was now completely blocked by the ugly black swirling clouds; the rest of the visible atmosphere had turned a revolting greenish color. Suddenly, one of the green fireballs went through one of the huge glass windows of the cafe. Screams came from inside as people tried to evacuate the building; the fireball had set the place on fire. Regular-colored flames started to lick out of the place, and you could swear that you heard demented laughter inside. Many people were running around and almost literally wetting their pants. If you're just as cowardly, go and take cover until this weird happening ends. If not, try to do something about that burning cafe...and maybe try to find out what that weird fireball was while you're at it. |

Ahh, free soda; and on such a nice day too. Rai sat under the umbrella, just relaxing in the shade, listening to people screaming and running for their lives... Wait, what are they yelling about? Green fireballs? Rai got up from his chair to look up at the sky. Oh, that's not good. In the sky was a mass of evil looking clouds that were spewing these horrible burning masses. Rai was stunned by this. He never saw anything like this before. It's like the apocalypse is coming. The sun had all but disappeared now, leaving only an eerie green glow to the sky. Then, he watched as a green fireball got closer and closer to him. Rai's eyes went wide and then jumped out of the way, as it smashed into the cafe where he was a minute ago. The umbrella and chair were now cinders on the ground. Dang, that could have been bad, as if it still isn't. The cafe is now on fire and people are fleeing. But wait, where is the nice store owner that gave him the free soda? She must not have gotten out. Rai ran over to the inferno, and as he did, there was the distinct sound of laughter, but not haha laughter, more like muhahaha evil laughter. What could be going on? Rai braced himself for the smoke by pulling his t-shirt collar up over his mouth and nose. That should keep some of it out of his lungs. He then opened the door and went inside. The smoke wasn't too bad yet, since it already had a place to escape, so he could still see too. It looked like a bomb went off in the place. Chairs and tables knocked over, walls and floor on fire, and food stuffs everywhere. Still no sign of the shop owner or the laughter. Rai pressed on through the building to the kitchen. It looked fine back here yet, with the exception of smoke near the cealing. Then, he saw her, brused, burnt and unconsious. Dang, and there doesn't appear to be any other exits except the window. Rai then tried helping her up and getting her out. Hopefully, whoever was laughing will stay away until they escape. |

With the café on fire, and smoke doing it’s best to choke and blind you, you felt very lucky that you had found the woman working there. You tried to pick her up, but she was a bit on the plump side. That also meant she was a touch heavy. But, you managed to drag her a few feet before your hand slipped off her. She had stopped moving, maybe something had pinned her? You look back and see something horrible. A clawed foot pins the woman’s chest to the tiled floor. You follow the strong leg up to it’s massive body. The monster, whatever it is, is as tall as the ceiling, at least eight feet, maybe more. Smoke billowed around it’s midnight blue head, as the things eyes burned red. Now you heard the laugh. “Loo loo loo looo.” It was like Jabba the Hut in Star Wars. This monster even had rubbery looking skin like Jabba. But, this monster was big, and kind of man shaped. And, it looked like it had claimed the woman as it’s own meal. The beast leaned over, it’s tentacles stretching out to grab the woman from the floor. Even with fire all around you, you couldn’t let this monster take the woman. ------------------------ Level 5 35/35 100%-----------VS-------- :... ? Level 5 35/35 100%

Rai suddenly found himself trying to lift an extremely heavy woman. She didn't appear to be much more than 150 pounds, but that's a very touchy subject with women. It might be best to not bring that up again. Still, he should be able to get her up off the floor, but she wasn't even budging. Rai then turned around to see a very large foot planted on the woman's back. He had to do a double take because he couldn't believe what he was seeing. A large, clawed foot attached to a strong leg, attached to a massive body, ending with a dark blue head with beady red eyes. All around ugly with tentacles. Rai found himself paralyzed with fear, but then snapped out of it when he saw the creature reaching down to make a meal out of the woman. Back in his normal frame of mind, he shouted at the creature, "Oh, no you don't! Your battle's with me!" Hopefully this would draw it's attention away from the woman. Pokémon or otherwise, it's going down. Rai hastily reached inside his pocket for Chikorita's pokeball, pulled it out and expanded it. He said a silent prayer for them to get out alive before throwing the ball into the room. Chikorita emerged in a flash of light and seemed ready to play, but then it saw the giant creature and lost some of it's spunk. Rai tried a bit of coaching to cheer it up, saying, "Come on Chikorita. It may be ugly and tall, but it's nothing to be afraid of. We've got it beat, and you know it. The nice shop owner is counting on us. Now, let's go! Start off with a growl, followed swiftly by a tackle!" Hopefully, his little pep talk will be enough to get Chikorita's head in the game. |

Despite the ugly thing's massive size, it didn't seem to be too far off in level from your Chikorita. In fact, if you knew any better, you could consider the thing to be a sort of adolescent...but you didn't know anything about these monsters from Mars...or wherever they came from. Either way, your yell had alerted the creature to your presence. Turning around and letting off a throaty growl in your direction, the thing reared its ugly head as it started stomping towards you and your little grass Pokémon. Did you see a flash of teeth behind those tentacles? No use going there now.... To be honest, your Chikorita's Growl attack was what really got the thing going. Letting off a thundering roar, the thing's red eyes started glowing, if possible, even redder than they were already. The Leer attack rattled your grass Pokémon a little as this thing was already intimidating, but the brave little guy didn't back down. Deciding that he'd at least follow through with your orders before determining a plan B, the little Chikorita lowered his head, braced his body, and rushed forward with a Tackle. However, the monstrous thing was ready. Half of the tentacles around its mouth extended, wrapping around your Chikorita and immobilizing it. Then the beast started reeling in your Pokémon like a prime fish, finally half-burying your frightened Pokémon under its tentacles. Using Bite on your Chikorita's back, the thing was definitely damaging your Chikorita...and maybe a little more. Was it just you, or did Chikorita already appear to be both physically and mentally drained from this battle? It also seemed as though that thing was sort of half-sucking on your Pokémon...almost like a pacifier. That doesn't seem to be good at all.... You may want to suspect that this thing is somehow draining your Pokémon's energy. Also, you may want to get out of there before you, Chikorita, and the slightly large woman become barbecue. As Chikorita and tall, dark and ugly started fighting, Rai took the opportunity to open the window and get the woman outside. It was only for maybe 15 seconds, but that was just enough time to have things go from bad to worse. He turned to see Chikorita in the creature's mouth! It was disturbing to say the least. Chikorita seemed to have a blank stare as it suckled him like a small child would it's thumb. Rai did not want to see this happening. After getting over the shock, he pulled out Chikorita's pokeball and ordered a return. Hopefully the creature will be too dumbstruck to figure out where it's pacifier went to let Rai, Chikorita and the woman escape. If that doesn't work, there is going to be a problem. Namely for them. Maybe Chikorita's leaf can give it the ability to use gust? Since physical attacks woln't work, maybe a special one will. Lets just hope the creature can't follow. Rai then tried pulling the woman out to the main street. Someone might be able to help there. |

Recalling your Chikorita for the time being had been a smart move on your part. Your exhausted Pokémon was more than happy to be returned to his Pokeball and out of harm's way. Indeed, this also confused the monster as it obviously didn't have a clue about Pokeball technology. It was still groping where your grass Pokémon had been with its stubby arms, seemingly trying to find it. Good, it was distracted, so this allowed you to make your move. Finding a nearby deli cart, you were miraculously able to get the large woman on there by using your foot as a lever (have fun walking on that later). Even though her limbs still scraped the ground, you were still able to wheel her out through the front before the flames became too obstructing. Outside where the heat and smoke would no longer burn your lungs, you were able to get your first glimpse into the outside world of what had gone on in the last five minutes. The answer? Nothing. The streets were deserted, and you could smell smoke from other fires in the city. Distant sirens warned you that the fire department was definitely busy, and you knew that quite a few people in the city were also facing the same problem that you are. The evil-looking fireballs with the strange alien creatures were still falling out of the vortex. As the woman was now safe outside, and the thing was left inside to burn, everything would be fine, right? Wrong! With a sudden explosion of flames, something broke through the roof of the ruined cafe and zoomed down towards you, alighting on the sidewalk. You were confronted with your same growling foe, and it obviously wasn't very happy that you had left it alone and seemingly fooled it. The flames didn't seem to bother it at all, and it had taken little damage from breaking through the burning structure. Even worse was that the thing had now found the woman, and it was likewise feeling her rather large stomach with his tentacles. Same thing could happen to her like what happened to your Chikorita. You may want to help her out here unless she unknowingly becomes monster chow. On Standby Level 5 29/35 91%(Defense -1) VS :... ? Level 5 35/35 88%(Attack -1) |

His plan worked, well, kind of. The creature was left inside with the flames and they escaped into the streets with clean air to breathe. Rai managed to get the woman onto an abandoned deli cart, barely, and started moving to, well, anywhere but here. He was still concerned about Chikorita after being used as a chew toy. Being poke-handled like that is not a good thing. But then, an explosion occured from back in the cafe, with something coming... out of... the... roof... darn. The ugly creature came back for more food, and it looked pissed. It then made it's way to the woman, currently behind Rai, making this one very bad game of 'monkey in the middle.' Rai looked around on the cart for a knife of some sort. He finally found one with the utensils. This would be his last line of defence if things should go horribly wrong. He then tossed Chikorita's pokeball back into the match. It came out, granted, not quite as perky as before. Rai said to him, "I know your tired, but we need to protect this woman. So now Chikorita, if you could, use agility to gain speed, then run around the creature in random circles to confuse it. Then, when you have a clear shot at the back or legs, use tackle. If you can keep it off balance, there should be no reason we can't win. Now, go!" |

Your Chikorita listened to your orders. At the same time it watched the giant monster slowly approaching. Chikorita looked like a small kid watching a horror movie. His eyes were wide with fear. But, he trusted you. He trusted that you knew what you were doing as well. The green grass Pokémon started running at the monster. You could almost sense that the monster was happy to see food coming it’s way. The beast reached down to scoop up it’s food, when Chikorita used Agility. It blew past the monster’s outstretched arms as he ran between the creatures legs. Then he began running in circles. Some went clockwise, then suddenly he’d change directions, going counter-clockwise. It did seem to keep the monster off balance. It was visable frustrated when it growled a low, menacing sound. Your Chikorita smashed into the back of the monster’s leg with a full-speed Tackle. The monster did stumble. It fell to one side, but was able to catch your Pokémon surprised. The beast swept him up, and delivered another Bite to Chikorita’s leg this time. Chikorita yelped in pain, and jumped away from the monster’s teeth. Behind you, you heard a groan. Then, a scream. Well, it sounded like the woman had just woken up. At least protecting her wasn’t something you’d have to worry about now. ---------------------------- Level 5 24/35 83%(Defense -1) (Speed +1) VS :... :genderless Level 5 29/35 88%(Attack -1) |

Rai watched on, trying to anaylize this creature's weak spot. It seemed as though it was really quite slow and has a lack of arm reach. These two facts combined make it feesable to attack the legs and back. The front has the mouth and tenticles, both need to be avoided. Chikorita pressed on into the battle with his increased speed, easily overtaking the lumbering giant. He got a nice clean shot at it's leg, but the creature managed to get a small hold on Chikorita and took a bite on the leg before squirming out of the way. Rai called out to his awesome little companion, "Good job, Chikorita! It looks like speed will be our key to beating this thing. Alright then, use Agility again to spin circles around it before hitting it with a Body Slam from behind. If we're lucky, it might get parylized. Go for it!" He then heard a moaning coming from the cart, before a scream. She's awake. Rai turned around to see her petrified with fear. He tried to calm her but it didn't seem to help much. He then said to her, "Ma'am, if you want to run, that's fine, but I can use any help you can give me. It's up to you." Rai turned back to the David and Goliath battle in front of him, hoping she doesn't just run off, leaving them alone. |

The woman looked over at the eight foot tall monstrosity and screamed. Now, this was excellent for your Chikorita because the little creature managed to get in a powerful Body Slam attack with the added bonus of an Agility. He crashed right into the back of the creature's back which resulted in a bone shattering crack. From that sound and the sound of the creature's roar, it was in serious pain. Of course, the roar brought in a fluttering of wings and a second creature arrived. This one seemed far more menacing than the other, but it was also weaked by something. It landed with a crash and Chikorita backed away, frightened. Things were not looking up for you and him. Suddenly, a massive thunderbolt came in from over where the woman was. Looks like she brought in some reinforcements. And reinforcements it was. She had whipped out a Electrike that had just used Thunderbolt! Sweet deal, huh? Now the playing field was a little more even, but things were still a little skewed against your favor. What now? The woman just kept screaming instead of doing anything. The good news, it seemed to distract the monster just enough to forget about Chikorita. The speed boosted Body Slam worked like a charm, snapping something in the creature's body. It roared in pain before another creature came in to help. Oh, great. It looked to be stronger than the current one, but also still in pain. Maybe it had a run in with another trainer, which could mean help is on the way. Chikorita backed away from those creatures and back to Rai. He was already trying to contemplate how to deal with two of these things, when a thunderbolt came from behind him. The woman had an Electrike. Thank goodness. He called over to the woman, "Thank you for staying." Now to get back to the battle. The big ugly Chikorita nailed seemed unmoving for the most part, so this would be a good chance to get in another attack. He called to Chikorita, "Alright then, Chikorita, I need you to charge up another body slam to hit the one we have been fighting. After that, follow up with a tackle. Just make sure to stay away from those tenticles. With your increased speed, that shouldn't be a problem. Go!" Rai then looked over to the woman to make sure she was alright. It seems like it's a one on one here. Too bad, it could have been over so much sooner otherwise. |

You had given your commands to you Chikorita. He still looked nervous, maybe even afraid of the monsters. That just made sense didn’t it? But he was a Pokémon. Not just a Pokémon, but your Pokémon. He listened to you, and took some small amount of bravery with the commands you had given. Chikorita began racing around the two monsters. Some of the loops were just big circles, but other times he made figure eights. Once he felt the monster was confused, he crashed into it as fast as he could. He struck a leg, making a deep purple bruise for almost immediately. But there was something wrong here. Chikorita was just standing there! But he shook his head, and looked back to the monster. He charged in again, this time Tackling the forming bruise. The monster yelped in pain. “LOO!” You had been focusing on your battle. You hadn’t really been listening to the woman and her battle. That’s why you were a little surprised when she was congratulating her Electike for weakening the foe. It looked like her green Pokémon had taken a hit, but it didn’t look serious. The other monster didn’t even look hurt, but you could see little sparks skipping across it’s skin. ---------------------------- Level 5 24/35 65%(Defense -1) (Speed +2) (Confused) VS :... :genderless Level 5 11/35 88%(Attack -1) (Speed -1) :... :genderless Level 7 34/39 90%(-1 Defense) (Paralyzed) VS Level 8 35/41 79%

Rai continued watching the battle, occasionally glancing over at the woman and her Electrike, but they seemed to have an upperhand. Although, that's more than what can be said in his and Chikorita's battle. Much of their success so far has been a good amount of luck. If only they had Razor Leaf in their arsenal, this battle would have been so much easier. Ah, but life is not always fair or kind. He saw Chikorita running circles around both creatures now, and it seemed to be working quite well. He must be getting tired after all this running. It was then that Chikorita ran straight into the creature's leg with Body Slam, but then just stopped. Rai had to do a double take to make sure he was seeing things right. Yes, Chikorita stopped, but then shook his head and hit the forming bruse with Tackle. Now, that's not quite normal to just stop like that. Perhaps it was all the dizzy running, or something else. But the creature didn't attack, or at least as far as Rai knew. Slightly befuddled on how to continue, Rai called out to his little Chikorita, "That was a nice hit, Chikorita, but are you ok? If you can, hit the creature one more time with Tackle. Then, hopefully we can take a break." Rai had a feeling that this creature couldn't take much more, so he stuck his hands into his pockets to find one of his empty pokeballs. It didn't take long to find, so he kept it in there, and waited. |

Chikorita looked back over his shoulder at you. He gave you a nod, indicating that he was doing well. But, you could see it in his eyes. They were a little unfocused. Maybe he had been Confused, or suffered a concussion in that last hit. Or, maybe he was just dizzy from running circles around the foes. It was hard to tell for sure at this point. But no matter what, a trip to the Pokémon Center would set him straight. You issued your orders, one hand stroking the empty pokeball, ready to toss it out. Chikorita gave another nod, and stepped forward to attack. But he was unsteady on his feet. It looked like the green plant Pokémon had been Confussed at some point, but you don’t remember seeing an attack that would have done it. The monster took advantage of the situation, and leaned in too close to your Pokémon. It spread it’s tentacles wide, and took another bite out of Chikorita’s leg. Your Pokémon yelped, and jumped back, trying to get away. The woman next to you let out a small cry. It looked like the monster she was fighting was taking a bite out of her Pokémon as well. You turned just in time to see your monster’s eyes flare again as it used Leer on Chikorita. The green Pokémon stumbled forwards, trying to land that Tackle command, but instead fell on his side. He landed on the asphalt with a heavy *thud* that couldn’t be good. ---------------------------- Level 5 15/35 65%(Defense -2) (Speed +2) (Confused) VS :... :genderless Level 5 11/35 83%(Attack -1) (Speed -1) :... :genderless Level 7 30/39 82%(-1 Defense) (Paralyzed) VS Level 8 30/41 71%
