So by some strange twist of fate I was assigned as the scout. Probably because I was the only one who chould ride my partner. Jade would be able to when her Ekans became an Arbok, but right now it was simply out of the question. It wasn't that I minded riding Spitfire, quite the opposite... I just wished I could've stayed with the girls... I wondered for a moment as we trotted along, what it'd be like, riding on the back of an Arbok. It'd be interesting to say the least.

Up ahead the fireballs still fell, but it seemed like they were slowly stopping. I could see the destruction from my slightly higher vantage point on Spitfire's back, and that made me wonder how exactly we would find Jasper's sister. She could be anywhere! I was getting ready to glance back and see how far behind the girls were, when something caught my eye.

Not too far ahead a building had collapsed, and a woman was pinned in the rubble. "Oh no..." I said. I spurred Spitfire forward, dismounting once I got close enough. She looked nothing like the description Jasper had given us, but I couldn't just leave her. I didn't even know if she was conscious or not... "Ma'am?" I asked cautiously...

The woman glared at you, her ice blue eyes burning through your body. It must run in the family. The woman bore long, dark brown hair, and as you may have already noticed, blue eyes. She didn't seem very happy at the moment, well, who could blame her? She spoke up,

"...Stop standing around and get me out of this rubble!"

Cold temperament? Check. Yep, this was his sister alright. She began to struggle in the rubble, and before you could move to help her the girls behind you immediately rushed to her aid and began to pull her out of the debris. The woman yelled in pain and cursed the girls a numerous amount of times, before finally being yanked out of the rubble and placed by the side of the building.

After a few heavy breaths of pain, she picked herself up from the floor and dusted herself off. She had recovered miraculously quickly, and began to point her finger at you and the girls,

"I-...I... That hurt! You could have pulled me out a bit more gently!" She then folded her arms and turned her back to you, like a spoilt brat,

"Not even a thank you?" said Mia in astonishment, "We just saved your life! I don't even know why we helped Jasper in the first place!"

"Jasper? You know my brother? Where is he? Lead me back to him, I want a word with him..."

"He's in the Southside Pokémon Center -"

"Come with me and we can teach him a lesson for leaving his little sister out in this mayhem!"

And with that she strode off south. Will you follow her and see what she gets up to? After all, she did ask you nicely. Or you can just abandon that short tempered brat and continue your Pokémon journey elsewhere.

Okay, I guess we'd found Jasper's sister... but he'd neglected to tell us she had the disposition of a cranky four year old... Seriously, 'a bit cold and distant' didn't even START to describe her. Nevertheless, I started following her. Maybe it was because, at some level, I felt sorry for Jasper. He'd been nothing but worried for her, and now he was probably going to get chewed out for abandoning her, which I doubted he did in the first place.

I looked back at Jade and Mia, pausing. "You two coming? We may as well see this through," I said. Spitfire walked up to me, expecting me to get on again. I pulled out her Pokeball. "No, you can rest Spitfire... You've earned it." I said, withdrawing her into the orb of red and white. I grinned at the girls, before turning once more to follow Jasper's sister. Maybe we could talk her out of going nutso on her big brother before we got there.

It hadn’t taken very long to reach the Southside Pokémon Center. During that time, you and your female companions had tried to learn a bit more about Jasper’s sister. Her name was Jalith and she wasn’t big on small talk. Big surprise huh? But as you walked with her you could tell that there was still something odd about her. The way she walked was odd, like she was walking on a moving boat. And her accent was a bit peculiar as well. It was very much like Jasper’s though.

Once at the red-roofed Pokémon center, Jalith strode in like she owned the place. The pink haired Nurse Joy stepped forwards, asking if there was anything she could help with.

“I demand to know where my brother is. His name is Jasper.” Jalith pronounced. Nurse Joy took a step back, startled by Jalith’s cold tones and disposition. “Ma’am, he’s in room 3, upstairs…” Nurse Joy pointed to the stairs, running along the western wall on the Center. Jalith stormed off.

Mia and Jade both walked up to Nurse Joy with pokeballs in hand. “We could use some help, if you’re not too busy.” Jade told the pink-haired nurse. “Yeah! We just got done fighting some CRAZY monster!” Mia added.

Well. It seemed like the girls were taking care of their Pokémon. Which probably wasn’t a bad idea. But, part of you really wanted to know what Jasper and Jalith were up to as well.

We reached the Poke'mon Center, where Jalith showed yet again how cold she was... The poor nurse directed her to Jasper's room, which she went to right away. I wanted to find out what was up with Jasper and his sister, but my Poke'mon WERE in need of healing. Well, Calypso was... I laughed at Mia's comment. "Yeah, a crazy monster that I caught," I said, grinning. "But it needs to be fighting fit. My other Poke'mon is fine, so could you just watch this one Nurse Joy?"

I placed Calypso's Pokeball with the nurse, turning to the girls. I motioned to follow if they wanted. I then headed upstairs, looking for room three. I walked around. It was a shame I hadn't watched which room she'd gone in...

The Nurse took the three spheres from you and your companions, taking them back to the healing machines. The Chansey behind the counter waved at the three of you and Mia smiled, waving back at it. Turning to you and Jade, she chuckled. "Don't you think that they're just so cute?" she said, and with her Pikachu, you got the idea that she was a fan of the cuter types of Pokémon available. Before you had a chance to answer, though, the nurse returned your pokeballs with a smile.

Just as you glanced over to Mia again, all of a sudden a loud noise came from upstairs. Your eyes moved over to the steps, where you saw Jasper coming down the stairs, looking quite exasperated. His sister followed behind, looking rather irritated. "It's your fault I was nearly killed by those things, Jasper," she muttered coldly. "How could you leave your darling little sister?" Darling? Not exactly. The little girl wasn't exactly the most charming.

"You were the one who ran off as soon as the fireballs started, Jalith. You left me." As he came down the stairs, one could see the consternation on the man's face, even though he did appear to be relieved that his sister had been found. "You just wait until mother hears about this." From the pouty expression that Jalith assumed, you could tell that she was probably going to be in some sort of trouble.

As he approached you all, he paused, as if he was struggling to remember if he knew you or not. Mia's eyes narrowed, and an anger vein appeared on her forehead. Before she had a chance to speak, though, Jasper got a look of recognition on his face and smiled. "Ah yes. You were the ones whom I asked to find my sister for me," he said, earning an 'idiot' comment from both Jalith and Mia. "I'm very happy to see her again, and I'd like to thank you, if I could. I'm afraid I don't have anything on me now to repay your kindness, but-"

At this, Jalith interrupted, marching up to you and handing you a piece of candy. "Here. Some guy gave this to me as a 'token of his love' or something before the rain of death. He gave me the creeps, so you can have it." Turning, she looked at her brother. "Let's go, Jasper..." she muttered, obviously losing some spunk after being threatened with mommy dearest.

As they left, you glance at the candy, and lo and behold, it's a Rare Candy. Nice!

I retrieved Calypso's pokeball from Nurse Joy, hearing Mia's comment and chuckling. I was about to reply when Jalith and Jasper came out, arguing. It was times like this I was glad to be an only child. Then again... I had my jerk of a cousin Matthew to worry about... I was really feeling bad for Jasper at this point.

When they approached, it looked like he was having a hard time remembering who we were exactly. Mia looked like she was about to lose it. I was going to jog his memory a little, when he managed to remember on his own. He thanked us and said he wished he could reward us... but couldn't. That suited me just fine. All I'd really done was find her, not pulled her out like the girls had.

That was when Jalith decided to march up and give me a piece of candy, saying some guy had given it to her and she didn't want it... What did she think I was, six? But as I looked at the piece of "candy" in my hand, I realized that it was a rare candy! Sweet!

"Um... Thank you!" I called after the pair as they left. "Well, now what?" I asked Mia and Jade. "You two tired? Hungry maybe?"

Mia glanced back to the Chancey, happily working the counter. Beyond the Pokémon, Nurse Joy could be seen doing some paperwork. “Well… if it’s all the same to you guys…” She paused, looking at both you and Jade. “I kinda want to see if Nurse Joy needs any help. You know, like work for the Pokémon Center.”

That was a bit of a shock. You knew that this partnership couldn’t last forever, but you had no idea Mia was going to bail at the first chance to work with a big, pink Pokémon. But, that wasn’t the end of the surprises. Jade had her own thoughts as well.

“I’ve really liked working with you guys. But, I need to do some exploring on my own I think. There’s no way I’ll become a great trainer if I have to rely on a team to finish battles for me. So, I think I’m just going to go.” Jade leaned in, giving you and Mia hugs, before she darted for the door with small tears in her eyes.

Mia gave you a hug as well. She walked over to the counter and she began talking to Nurse Joy. She turned back, giving you a thumbs-up and a wave.

Looked like you were going to be on your own from here on out. There was a big world of Pokémon, waiting to be discovered. You could explore, challenge a gym, or try to find your own job out there. Right now, you were a free man with nothing that you had to do.

Well... now I was alone again. Mia was going to help Nurse Joy, and I was speechless as Jade said she was leaving too. I wanted to stop her, I really did, but I couldn't bring myself to do anything but take that last hug and savor it. If she wanted to fly solo, I wouldn't stop her... Things would work out, they always did. For better or worse, I'd find a way to carry on.

"Later Mia..." I said as she hugged me goodbye also. I knew she'd be fine, Mia was a strong person. She talked to Nurse Joy, then turned and gave me a thumbs up. She was in. I smiled, returning the thumbs up and wave. 'At least I may see her again, if I drop by the Center at the right time,' I thought. I turned and headed out, into the city. There was so much that could happen...

Right now though, I was hungry. I let out Spitfire, remembering my promise to leave her out more often. She was happy to be out, and looked around, half expecting a battle. I laughed. "No, there's no battle silly... We're getting some food." I said lightheartedly. Spitfire whinnied, and I mounted up once more, heading off at a brisk trot to look for any restaurants that were still open after the whole 'green fireball' incident.

You and Spitfire made your way through the city easily enough. With the fireball crisis now over, the city was already starting to rebuild. As you walked you saw several grass, water and ground Pokémon all working with humans to rebuild as much as possible. It didn’t seem like there were a lot of fire-type Pokémon present here. Maybe you could get a job on a construction crew? Spitfire could move some stuff maybe?

It didn’t take long to find a fast-food place that was open. The Mr. Mime Burger was open for business. And, it looked like business was good. Lots of construction workers and their Pokémon were in or around the place. The food is cheep, and what you’d expect for fast-food burgers.

Yokomuto’s was another nearby choice. It looked like they were a middle of the road sushi place. They had a sign with a red Magikarp swimming up a waterfall. Outside the building several Meowths paced back and forth, looking in the windows.

So, eat up wherever you like. I’m going to take $10 off your profile for food. You can post what you want about where you eat. And then, if you were interested there were some meoths that didn’t appear to have owners.

We went along at a liesurely pace, watching the townsfolk rebuild. People and Pokémon working together; that was always a sight to see... Maybe we could help, after we got a bite to eat. Spitfire was apparently thinking along the same thoughts, tossing her head in a hello to the workers. I grinned, patting her neck. I'd always loved her personality, her eagerness to please.

We soon reached where we needed to be. There were two places open that had food... A Mr. Mime Burger and Yokomuto's were open; both were about the same distance, and both had a crowd... The burger place had a group of workers and their Pokémon there. The sushi shop had some Meowths, mewling and begging for a free handout. I went for the burgers, not really being in the mood for sushi.

After withdrawing Spitfire, I went inside... I spent ten of my dollars on things from the value menu, which got me a decent meal. It hadn't been the first time I'd eaten this way... I ate outside, so I could better observe the Meowths, watching which ones seemed to be the dominate ones, the more timid ones... After I'd eaten my fill, there were still some scraps left, as I'd hoped. I picked up the trash paper, walking calmly toward the Meowths with it and the scraps in my hands. "Here kitties... Anybody hungry?" I asked softly, placing the paper with the scraps on it on the ground.

The burgers here are absolutely delicious too I must say. If I was near by, I'd be more than happy to pull up a chair and eat with you, but unfortunately I'm in the middle of a battle with this one guy who's trying to practically murder me with an Arcanine. And I've been stuck for over a week now, waiting for my results, which probably won't come in until I get Shadow on people's butts about it. However, instead of hearing about my own woes, maybe we should get on about yours. Because you are about to have woes as you soon shall see.

You placed the left overs you had on the ground for the mewling kitties to eat, and needless to say they were happy to see them! But they weren't happy in sharing in the least, and all of them started scratching, biting, and basically beating the hell out of each other, hoping to get the most food. Once they were all eating, it literally only took about fifteen seconds for all of it to be gone, and you could see that there were a total of six Meowth here. When the food was all gone, they looked to you again and started meowing, begging for more food. However, they could see that you were clearly all out and probably not about to get them anything more.

Now you probably are wondering how things could possibly go wrong, so I'll start telling you. These little kitties weren't too happy with the small amount of food they've been given, and you could tell as they narrowed their eyes and walked towards you in a none too friendly manner. You still have some money, so you could go and buy them more food, perhaps some sushi? Or you could take a sort of easier way out and try to battle them. A few of them don't look like they could last a whole battle, so I'm sure some of them will run away. But you could wind up with four left to fight, and do you want to take that chance?

"Uh... uh-oh..." I said, as the meowths devoured the food rather hastily, after nearly clawing eachother to ribbons... They then looked up at me, wanting more... which I didn't have. They didn't look happy, quite the opposite... and I began wondering if I could take them... Maybe, with Calypso's help... I raised my arms passively. "Now now... no need for this." I could always get them some more... maybe sushi? Yeah, I had plenty of money for that... Or I could run the heck away, but they'd probably chase me... Descisions descisions...

I looked at the Meowths... There were two toms... and four females. Three looked like Spitfire coull take fairly, two looked like she'd have more of a challenge... And then there was one who looked tougher than the rest, but I knew Calypso could probably handle. One-on-one anyway... If they all ganged up, I knew it wouldn't be pretty for any of us... "C'mon, be grateful would you? I honestly thought it last longer..."

"Here... I'll buy you some yummy sushi if you guys and gals behave." I said, edging around them toward the sushi shop. "Deal?"

The Meowths heard you say sushi and all of them froze, their eyes starting to widen quite considerably. Sushi was fish after all, and fish was pretty much the favorite food of any cat, unless they were even pickier than that. However, these Meowths weren't that picky, and lucky for you, the man behind the sushi bar knew exactly what was happening. Even luckier than that was the fact that he knew how much sushi would satisfy any Meowth just by watching their behavior. So by the time you got to the counter, he already had the sushi set out for you, and told you the sum was still only $10. Lucky you.

So once you paid the money and set the sushi down, the cats again ate it all, though by the time they were done, they were going much slower. After they had finished, they all laid down and fell to sleep, right where they were, except for one of them. This one went right up to you and mewled softly, and as you reached down, assuming that he wanted to go with you, he swatted at your hand and shook his head. You knew then that you weren't just going to get him with a little bit of sushi. It was time to battle.

I grinned at their reaction to the word sushi. They certainly knew what that was... I headed inside, paying the man behind the counter $10 and heading back outside with the raw fish... I set it down, and the Meowths dug in, eating it all. After that, they all fell asleep... except one of the toms, which padded up to me and meowed quietly. I reached down to pet him, think maybe he wanted to come with me... He just swatted my hand away, shaking his head.

I smiled big. Looked like this young tom wanted to battle. "You think you can take us?" I asked, reaching for Spitfire's pokeball. I pulled it out, letting her loose. Spitfire whinnied, looking down at the Meowth. "I'll never understand why they insist on battling, but if it makes you stronger..." I said to her. Spitfire snorted, indicating she was ready. "Okay, let's start things simple. Tackle him Spitfire!"
