Standing on your ferry, you could see the city of Tohea in the distance. Your heart raced as you thought about how your life was going to take a dramatic turn from now on as you embarked on your Pokémon journey. The salty sea air and the gently rolling waves seemed to help complete the already-beautiful setting of what promised to be a nice morning. The sun hadn't quite yet come over the horizon, but its glow caused the moving water to have a nice rosy look to it. Yes sir, this was going to be one heck of a trip for you.

Suddenly, black clouds started forming in the sky, becoming larger and larger as they started massing together. Oddly enough, these kept growing and extending until they blocked out the whole sky, including the sun; this gave the sky itself and the atmosphere around you a sort of nasty greenish look. The ever-growing cloud mass seemed to threaten a storm, but you couldn't help but think that these things seemed a little...unnatural.

Then, suddenly, the center of the cloud mass started rotating. The rotation became faster and more powerful until a gaping black hole opened up in the middle of it. Looking up, the hole seemed to go...nowhere. This was honestly the weirdest weather phenomenon that you had ever experienced. What didn't help was that little green fireballs started shooting out of the vortex and bombarding the city in front of you. They weren't big enough to cause any significant damage, but the fires could spread. This stuff definitely wasn't natural.

As soon as your boat docked, everyone on it ran fleeing for cover. You could follow your trainer companions, but it looks as though some of the braver ones are going to investigate the strange fireballs. It looks as though one landed behind an old boathouse near a smaller dock, so why not go check it out? Or you could turn tail and run until this stuff was over. Everything here is your choice, after all. I'd recommend it, as that flaming thing could be dangerous...mainly because it's probably fueling your curiosity right now.

Pounding... Yes, my heart was definitely pounding. The thought of exploring this strange new region, one that my father had never even heard of in passing in his travels, sent shivers of excitement down my spine. I looked over the railing and saw it, the city where I'd start it all, Tohea. It was truly a beautiful sight... The land, sea, and sky all coming together, just so I could see it! At least... that was how it seemed to me. It was a shame I wasn't able to let Spitfire out of her Pokeball on the ferry... She was deathly afraid of water, and rightly so...

I was thinking on this fact when the sky suddenly began to darken. The clouds covered the whole sky... blocking out the sun... They seemed like they were storm clouds, but honestly, no natural storm could have formed that quickly.

Then the center of the clouds started rotating of all things! I watched as it got faster and faster. 'Great,' I thought... 'I'm heading into a soon to be tornado.' But it didn't form a tornado, just a great big gaping black hole over the city... This was so freaky. Then, little green fireballs came down and started, for lack of a better word, bombarding the city!

Once the ferry docked, I paid witness to many of my fellow trainers wussing out and looking for cover. 'Not me, I'm a North after all!' I thought with a rather cheesy grin. I saw that several braver trainers were investigating the flames, and decided to follow suit. But where to start? I looked around, noticing an old boathouse that a fireball had landed behind. Why not start there?

I ran over toward the boathouse, slowing down to a brisk walk once I felt I was close enough. I thought I was ready for anything... but to be honest, the only test of that would be what happened next.

Spinning vortexes of doom, and flaming green fireballs of doom, not to mention the kittens of doom… wait, no that was my nightmare. It looked like you and two other trainers were the only ones man enough to check out this possible meteor. Odd, since both of the other trainers were girls.

One of the girls was tall and thin. Her dark skin and hair contrasted greatly with the yellow sweater and tight blue jeans she wore. “So, what do you think is going on? I hope this isn’t normal for this region! My name‘s Mia by the way!” She had to speak up, the wind was picking up as the sky was thrown into a perpetual twilight.

Beside her, the other girl answered. “I’m Jade. Yeah, if this is how it’s going to be, I’m going back to Kanto! Who knows what that thing was. Maybe it’s a Moonstone?” Jade was short, and pale. She wore wire framed glasses, and looked a bit like a nerdy girl. Both girls looked to you for a small introduction, but you had reached the boathouse now. Behind it, a flaming impact crater had been formed.

At the bottom of the hole, you found your first challenge in this new region. Some monster growled as it stretched it’s massive body towards the sky, and the swirling vortex. It had rubbery, midnight blue skin with gray markings. It was at least eight feet tall, with black wings that stretched almost twenty feet wide! The worste part about it was that it had fixed it’s burning red eyes on you and the girls.

“Oh no!” Jade yelled. Both girls tossed out their starter Pokémon. Hopefully the three of you would be strong enough to fight this horror.

(Out of character: You might want to look in my sig. One of the spoilers is a Global Attack List. These are moves all Pokémon can use. -M-)

(ooc: Thanks for the tip!)

"Go, Spitfire!" I said, releasing the young Ponyta. She whinnied and tossed her head, pawing the ground with her ultra-hard hooves. I wasn't surprised; she'd never liked being in her Pokeball. I decided that I'd keep her out as often as I could from now on. Mia and Jade had already sent out their partners, a Pikachu and an Ekans. Somehow, we had to make our little team work... I felt a little bad that I hadn't bothered to introduce myself yet, but now it would have to wait until that... thing... was beaten.

Spitfire in the meantime was sizing up our foe. She seemed to know that the Pikachu and Ekans were on our side. It seemed that none of us were that eager to strike the first blow. For a while it seemed like there wouldn't be a battle... My impatience caught up with me again however, and I decided to be the one to lead the charge. "Spitfire! Use Agility, then follow up with a Tackle! Let's take this thing out!"

Spitfire heard your commands and gave an appreciative whinny. She charged forward, her tail burning behind her. As the Agility kicked in, all the fire on her body gave a burst of brilliance. Your Ponyta was very fast! But, you already knew that.

Apparently giving orders had snapped the girls out of their confusion. They issued orders to their Pokémon as well, but you didn’t hear them. You were watching your Pokémon, as she lead the assault on the un-earthly beast.

The monster simply stood it’s ground, and stared hatred at your Ponyta. It’s red eyes took on an inner flare as it used Leer on Spitfire. She stumbled just a little in her run, and slowed a bit. It looked like this thing had spooked her. But she wasn’t about to give up so easily. She ran forward, slamming her lowered head into the monster’s belly.

Mia’s Pikachu was right behind your Ponyta. That didn’t surprise you too much, Pikachus were pretty fast as well. The little yellow blur had sparks issuing from it her cheeks. She hit the monster in the shin, using Thunder Shock as she struck. That attack could very well make this fight almost fair!

The purple Ekans slithered in behind the Pikachu. He seemed to consider attacking the potential food, but instead followed through with an attack. The snake grabbed a leg in a Wrap attack and began squeezing. That’s when something went wrong. The Ekans’ eyes crossed, and his tongue slid out his mouth at an odd angle. Had he become Confused?

The monster, or whatever it was, wasn’t giving in either. It’s blue tentacles parted, revealing a mouth lined with rows of small, sharp teeth. It reached down and bit at the snake wrapped around it’s leg. Jade screamed, terrified for her Pokémon.

I grinned when I saw Spitfire's attack hit. Despite the monster's leer, she hadn't backed down... That was her nature after all; she never backed away. The Pikachu followed up with a good Thunder Shock, paralyzing it. Then the Ekans used Wrap. That was odd... to me any way. Wouldn't Jade want her partner to stay away from this thing? If so, why not use Poison Sting?

But maybe that would be her next move, and in any case it was irrelavent. I watched as the Ekans became... confused?... just from prolonged contact with it. I looked over at the girls briefly, just in time to see Jade's face contort with horror. She let out a terrified scream, and I turned quickly to see why. That thing was knawing on her Ekans, trying to get it to let go. Given the snake's state of mind, it was only a matter of time... I had to help.

This thing... wasn't normal. What was it? A Poke'mon? If it was... I felt myself being torn again. It was a trait that most Norths after my grandfather had. We had difficulty making big choices, and I was torn between stomping this thing into the ground if we could... and at least making an attempt to catch it when the time came. "Spitfire! Headbutt that thing right in the face!" I shouted. I then turned to Jade. "If this doesn't work, I'm sorry..." I said.

As you commanded your Ponyta to attack with a Headbutt, Jade looked at you with perplexed eyes, but then nodded thankfully and looked out towards her Ekans. "Ekans, snap out of it! Use a Poison Sting to get away from that thing!!" She ordered, though her voice was shakey as she did so.

From the other side of Jade you also heard Mia's voice as she had already started commanding her Pikachu, "...use Charm and combine it with Thundershock!" It sounded like a good combination, but how did her Pikachu know Charm? Well, that didn't matter right now.

As your Ponyta started dashing towards the monster you watched as she bowed her head, her speed seeming to have dropped from before. Though, another thing you noticed was Mia's Pikachu seeming to have caught a ride on Ponyta's back while she seemed to start eminating a pink light, aswell as electrical shocks coming from her cheeks.

As the two neared Ekans and the monster, Spitfire crashed her head into the monster's over-sized head and caused him to let go of Ekans, where as Pikachu leapt into the air and released the pink energy from around herself in the form of a heart --moving incredibly quickly, I might add-- which struck the monster mid-air, aswell as released the electrical-energy for Thundershock that seemed to be giving the monster more damage than would have been expected.... unless...

"It's a Water-Type!" Jade shouted quickly as she watched the electrical pulses surge around the monster, seeming to cause more damage by the second. With that knowledge everything seemed to become easier... for Mia atleast, but if it was a water-type, that probably meant it had some water-type moves, which wasn't the best thing for you and spitfire.

Soon enough, the monster got back to its feet as it looked over at Ekans -slinking on the ground like a worm, trying to get back to Jade- and then turned to Pikachu with his eyes glowing a dark violet-red. "Cth..." it bubbled as Pikachu's eyelids started to drop a little, and the mouse Pokémon started to walk side to side sleepily. Though, soon enough a barrage of poison stings disrupted the eye-contact that the monster was making as Ekans -still confused- seemed to have been able to conjure the strength for a Poison-Sting!

I grinned at Jade; she was being very brave despite what was happening. She issued orders to her Ekans, and I turned to see what would happen... I heard Mia give orders as well. Charm and Thunder shock... not bad. I wondered for a moment how her Pikachu knew Charm, but that was irrelevant.

Spitfire closed the distance she'd put between herself and the monster pretty quickly, but I frowned; it seemed she'd slowed down. The Pikachu was using her to get closer while it charged its attacks. She slammed her head into the monster's face, making it release the Ekans. "All right, way to go Spitfire!" I praised. The Pikachu then released its Charm/Thunder shock, hitting the creature.

It was then that we all noticed that the electric attacks had done more damage than we’d thought. I head Jade shout that it was a Water-type. That was great news for Mia, but I honestly hoped she was wrong. I mean, look at those wings… It could just as easily be a Flying-type… right? What if it was both? Then Mia would be really happy. I’d still have to be careful though, until one of us was proven wrong.

The monster looked at Mia’s Pikachu, its eyes glowing a darker color. Then the Pikachu got drowsy. “Is it using hypnosis?” I asked. That’s when the Ekans fired off a Poison Sting, while slinking back to Jade. Good thing too, because it broke the creature’s stare. You’ve got to thank luck sometimes, because Ekans was still confused.

Time for round three… “Spitfire! Use Agility to stay out of reach! Close the distance with Tackle, then get out of there.” Hit-and-run tactics had been working so far... I just hoped that our luck would hold out. I listened carefully for the girls commands... I'd have to thank them after this for their help... regardless of the outcome. Yes, thank them and introduce myself.

Jade started everything off this round by giving her Ekans a fresh round of orders. "Don't give up now, Ekans! Try to shake off your confusion and fire off another Poison Sting at that thing!" Obviously she didn't want to give too many orders unless the snake's confused state got the better of it. Hissing faintly, her Ekans crawled in a zigzag pattern into his main position and waited for the opponent to make a move.

"Pikachu, use our Thunder Noise combo!" Mia said simply. Heh, Thunder Noise? Obviously this had to be a different attack combo than normal as Pikachu normally didn't know Thunder this early...nonetheless, everyone had given their orders and was now in a position to attack the monster. Yawning, the Pikachu tried to stay awake long enough to perform its orders.

While Spitfire started rushing around with Agility, the Ekans approached with Poison Sting. Some of the spikes luckily hit, but the rest of the needles went spraying off harmlessly past the huge blue monster. Roaring, the beast tried to attack, but its paralysis luckily held it steady. Pikachu then used a Growl Attack that the monster couldn't ignore, and then fighting its drowsiness, it finished the thing even further with a Thundershock. This time the thing was able to move to the side a little, but its left wing was hit and left even more blackened and charred.

Finally, Spitfire came charging in with a Tackle, ramming the thing and leaving it with hardly any health left. The creature staggered, its ruby-red eyes gleaming at you in rage, hatred, and...fear? "Catch it now!" both females urged, obviously wanting nothing to do with this repulsive thing. Well, if you do want to catch it, the option is there.

I watched as our little team worked. Jade gave the order to her Ekans for a Poison Sting... Mia said for her Pikachu to use something called Thunder Noise, a combo move of some sort... I just hoped her Pikachu would stay awake long enough to carry it out. And then the action carried through.

Spitfire used Agility, picking up speed as the Ekans, still confused, used Poison Sting on the monster. It tried to counterattack, but the paralysis from Mia's Pikachu came into play. Speaking of the Pikachu, it'd let out a Growl, which the monster couldn't ignore. It then used Thundershock, zapping the thing's left wing when it tried to dodge. Then Spitfire charged in, crashing into it with a Tackle. It would be over soon...

The creature staggered, glaring at me. Rage, hatred, fear... all were understandable emotions that I picked up in those eyes. I knew, at least I thought I knew, why it was looking at me and not the girls. I'd attacked first. I almost felt guilty... Almost...

I heard the girls shout to catch it. Did I really want to? It did look pretty strong... and the thought of the look on Matthew's face. Priceless... I grinned, and pulled out a Pokeball. "Pokeball... Go!" I yelled, hurling the red and white orb at the creature.

You dug around for a pokeball to throw. You’d catch this monster, and be the envy of every other trainer you’d met. That’d be so cool. While you found your pokeball, Mia’s Pikachu fell over. Both she and you were worried, until it let out a loud snore.

You tossed the pokeball, straight and true, like any good trainer could do. It soared through the air, and your heart pounded in your ears. Beside you, the girls watched, mouths hanging open.

The monster tried to block the ball, by hiding behind it’s wings, but the red beam of light still caught it. The monster, all eight feet of it’s ugly self, was zapped into your pokeball.

The three of you watched as it started shaking furiously. This beastie wasn’t going to give up! The ball bounced a bit to the left. It rotated backwards. Then it bounced up in the air…

Was it going to escape?! The tension was killing you!

The ball landed, and with a small *click* the indicator showed that the ball had caught the monster!

“Oh yeah!” Mia shouted, one fist in the air. Jade gave you a huge hug, that felt like she was trying to crush your ribs. “Way to go!” She exclaimed, as she backed away blushing.

“So, what are you going to name the ugly thing?” Mia asked.

Hmmm…. Now there was something to ponder…

(Thanks! I'll edit my signature ASAP to include my awesome new Poke'mon/monster!)

As I was digging for my pokeball, Mia's Pikachu fell over. I was a little worried, so was Mia until we heard it snoring. With that I threw the pokeball, my heart pounding in my ears just like it probably would any other time I caught a Pokémon. The monster tried to hide behind its wings, but the pokebal zapped it inside despite this.

I then paid witness to an awesome display of tenacity and strength as it tried to escape. The ball didn't just rock, it bounced and rolled. Left, spinning around, up in the air! I almost thought it would escape. I wouldn't have been surprised if it did... if it still had all that strength despite being so injured... No, I wouldn't have been surprised at all.

But that didn't happen. It bounced a final time into the air, and then the pokeball clicked, indicating capture. Mia pumped her fist into the air, shouting with excitment. I breathed out, a long sigh of relief. Imediately I regretted this though, as I found Jade HUGGING me! For a little nerdy girl, she had pretty strong arms... It felt like I was caught in her Ekans' Wrap attack. She released me, congratulating me while blushing.

I grinned... "Thanks, Jade," I said, slightly red myself. I heard Mia ask what I was going to name the monster. I thought for a second or two... "Calypso... That's a name that suits it," I said. "By the way... I'm Kyle. Sorry I didn't get to say earlier..." I smiled, then went to retrieve my pokeball.

Spitfire whinnied, trotting up to me. "You did so well!" I said happily, petting her neck. I bent down, and collected my "prize". I personally thought it was one well worth the fight.

Jade and Mia returned their Pokémon and turned to looka at you. Mia was grinning "What a hot battle, I loved the thrill" she said. Jade was also smiling, she had enjoyed the battle too, she pushed her glasses higher onto her nose. There was a noise behind you, it was someone clapping, you turned to see that a man was slowly applauding you. The man's hair was black and glossy, it reflected the afternoon sun and the green vortex making a weird glow. His eyes were acid green and stared at you, almost as if they were tugging on your soul.

"Well done" he said in words with a strange ring to them "You are talented, all three of you." He moved forward, the dark purple cloak he wore blew aside slightly to reveal a black suit underneath, and a belt that held three orange sized pokeballs. "Allow me to introduce myself, I am Jasper" he bowed "My sister and I came into the city seeking accomodation, but we got seperated," there was a flash of worry over his face that was quickly masked by a smile. Mia stepped forward "I am Mia" she said "What does your sister look like? Perhaps we can help you find her", the man clasped his hands together and laughed. "She is dressed the same as I, but her hair is dark brown and her eyes are ice blue, she is prone to be a bit cold and distant" he said. "Anywho, tell her I will be at the Southside Pokémon Center waiting for her" And with that he bowed and walked off.

Mia turned to face you, "So, I think it would be best if we stay together, despite what the brocure says I really do not trust the alleyways and city folk" she said. Jade spoke up "I agree, the brocure I got says 'A quiet little city, where you can be free from harm,' I seriously think that raining green fireballs is not 'free from harm'." Mia laughed, sort of a fu fu fu laugh, Jades laughed was mixed with mild snorting, the two girls seemed to have grown fond of you and each other. So, what now, would you seek adventure in the back streets? Seek shelter where you can wait out the night, avoid the fire and chat with each other? Would you try to find Jasper's sister? So many options, what to choose.

Mia was obviously pumped still from the battle as she and Jade returned their Partners. As I straightened up, Calypso's Pokeball in hand, I heard... clapping? I turned to see a men there. Had he been watching us this whole time? Creepy that I hadn't noticed him... Anyway. He had glossy black hair, that reflected the green light which was a wierd thing... His eyes were what really got me though. Acid green, and they seemed to peer right through me...

He congratulated us on our victory, calling us talented. He then stepped forward, the purple cape he wore fluttering aside, revealing a black suit, and belt athat held 3 Pokeballs. He said his name was Jasper...-Seemed a decent enough guy...-and that he'd come here with his sister, but they'd gotten split up. He looked worried for a second, but covered it up with a smile.

That was enough to get Mia to start offering to help, asking what she looked like. Jasper described her. Same outfit, brown hair, icy blue eyes, and a cold temperment... I committed those details to memory. He then said he'd be waiting at the Southside Poke'mon Center. With that he left... leaving us to decide what to do next.

Mia turned to me and said it'd be best if the three of us stuck together. I mentally agreed, and Jade did verbally, throwing in a joke about the travel brocure. They laughed, and I couldnt help but join in. These two... As different as night and day, but it seemed fighting Calypso had forged a bond between us.

"Okay, okay..." I said, still chuckling a bit. "We'd better get to work finding Jasper's sister," I said, calling Spitfire over. She'd wandered off a bit during all this. I climbed on, and nodded to the girls. "Let's get started."

You mounted up on Spitfire, leaving the girl’s giving each other questioning looks. “Uh, I thought we’d all walk together…” Mia stated. Oh yeah! They didn’t have Pokémon to ride! Well, you and Spitfire could trot along slowly. Or, you could scout ahead of the girls, and get back to them quickly.

Apparently Jade had the same idea, but she vocalized it instead of just thinking about it. So, the girls had decided that you should be the scout. They would follow along behind you and Spitfire. Well that was some nerve from them, deciding your fate without even asking you!

But Mia gave you a grin and Jade waved, both expecting you to take the lead.

You and Spitfire trotted off, ahead of the girls. You watched the green fireballs as they continued to fall from the sky. If you had to guess, you’d say there were less then there had been before. But it was a little hard to tell. The real question was, where was Jasper’s sister?

You didn’t know anything about her beyond what she looked like. For that matter, you didn’t know anything about Jasper either. So, his sister could be virtually anywhere. She could be battling a trainer, fighting off monsters, or hiding in some building. The possibilities were limitless.

Ahead of you, Tohea loomed into the air. Pillars of smoke and the glow or orange flames followed those buildings up in the air. The city was burning, and there were other people in need of help. One person in particular was in need. A small building at the edge of town had collapsed, and she was pinned in the debris. It didn’t look like Jasper’s sister, but this woman needed your help now.
