Tala snatched her money back, deftly slipping it into her bag before swiping the pokeball from the floor. She glared at the thief’s muttering, but said nothing. It was shocking enough that he handed over the pokeball. No use risking it all now. There was a moment of awkward silence as no one move, then in a snap the thief yanked Zenith off and detonated a smoke bomb.

Well, that had gone pretty smooth. Nice. Tala coughed a few times, waved a hand to clear the smoke a bit, and brushed a stray hair back into place. The thief was gone, but Tala had what she wanted. She scratched her new Shinx’s head and recalled it to its pokeball. Next task was to get to a Poke Center. Tala grinned briefly and sauntered over to Growlithe. “You okay?” Zenith was in the middle of a sneeze attack from the smoke, and shook his head to clear his sinuses. “Hmm, ok, how about you stay in the pokeball until we get to the Center?” There was no argument when Tala recalled the growlithe. Time to ditch this place.

Tala slid down the ladder and quickly exited the alley. She had no intention of reporting the pick pocket. There was no point- someone else could deal with it if they wished. Instead, Tala looked down the street, vaguely recalling passing a Poke Center near here. The memory solidified, and she headed in the direction.

Huh. Both my Pokémon now used to belong to someone else. I wonder if that’s weird? Tala chuckled lightly rather than frowning- maybe she should be concerned, but mostly she just found it amusing. Maybe I should try catching a wild Pokémon for once… But what would I want? I’d just like to find a Fire Stone. Speaking of which, I need to teach Zenith Flamethrower, Crunch and Heatwave before he evolves. Tala kept her eyes peeled while she thought and walked. No one was getting their hands on her stuff again; they’d sooner have their fingers broken.

You know, a water Pokémon would be useful in this area… though how I’d get one I have no idea. Ideally, a sharpedo or wailmer would be awesome. But realistically? I wonder what the largest Pokémon in this area is… A large Pokémon would be an intimidating ally. Tala contemplated these desires. If nothing else, there must be something interesting happening somewhere.. All she needed was to heal her Pokémon and look around.

Wandering through the busy and polluted town of Hurst looking for a Poke center was going to be no easy feat by any means. People bumping past you left, right and center distracted you occasionally from your destination. It wasn't long before people had begun swarming over you and you had forgotten which way you came.

After a few minutes the crowd had subsided and you managed to remember which way you had came. You continued to walk into a far more secluded area of the town. An eiree silence rested on the area. It was almost like someone was watching you. Or something. It definitely didn't do you any good at the moment, especially with no Pokémon in any state to battle.

You continued walking and it felt as though there were someone following you. You turned around to find nothing. You continued walking and began hearing giggling. You turned around again to see nothing. The laughing was more pronounced this time. "Dus, dus skull." You turned round this time and saw a chortling Duskull hovering behind you. Solely for it's enjoyment it had been following you.

Argh. Where’s the Center? How hard can it be to get in and out? Stupid city. Who needs so many buildings, anyhow? Ouch, that was my foot! Tala continued her grumbling as she pushed her way through the crowd, becoming more and more lost. When the crowd subsided, Tala stopped and sighed heavily. Wherever she was, it definitely wasn’t the Center.

With her hands on her hips, Tala surveyed the secluded area. A chill ran down her spine. It felt like someone was watching her, which was unnerving when she had no Pokémon in fighting condition. An image of the thief ran through her mind. He had escaped; what if he wanted revenge? Sure, Tala knew more than a bit about fighting, but what if it was a Pokémon? She couldn’t fight claws or flames or ice, or any other number of things that Pokémon have control over.

The eerie giggling put Tala on edge. She tensed up and spun numerous times in an attempt to spot the culprit; and finally, with a threatening scowl, she caught sight of it. A ghost Pokémon. No way to fight that without a Pokémon. Tala just stared, unsure what to do next. On one hand she really, really needed to find a Center to heal her Pokémon; but on the other hand, how cool would a duskull be to her team?

Another chill ran down her spine. Oh yeah, Tala had that irrational fear of ghost Pokémon… but it wasn’t the sort of fear that she thought about. It was more a physical reaction, consisting of chills and random jolts of adrenaline. Which was frustrating, because they would be so useful when stealing. But Tala didn’t have much choice- her body froze up while her mind fought to gain control. Adrenaline spread through her veins in an icy wave.

“Er—H-hi?” She managed, exasperated with her fear. It was a hindrance, and must be dealt with. “F-friend or f-foe?” Tala didn’t know much about ghost Pokémon, which was possibly a part of her fear, and so she didn’t know how naturally aggressive they were. Or what she would do, for that matter, if it decided it was a ‘foe’. What kind of question was that, anyway?

In any case, Tala managed to overcome her paralyzation long enough to roll Zenith's pokeball into her hand and release the fire Pokémon. The growlithe instantly tensed when he saw the ghost, but obediently waited for orders. He was aware of his tired state and hoped Tala had something up her sleeve for this.

The Duskull waved one of its ghostly arms in a playfull manor. It began to bob from left to right giving off its same cackling giggle from earlier. It didn't seem like it wanted to battle, infact Ghost Pokémon are known for prefering to terrify people for fun, and it could easily sense the fear coming from you.

"Dus.. Duskull Dusk" the skull ghost hummed as it began to dissapear and reapear in different places around you. It then disapeared once more, and reapeared right infront of your face, pulling its skull to intimidate you. Instinctivley, you stumbled back and fell onto the floor. While the ghost began cackling once more pointing and waving its arms at you. Growlithe watched as you fell and then peared up at the ghost snarling and pawing the ground. "Growlithe!" The canine jumped up to tackle the ghost, but phased right threw Duskull and into the dirt on the ground.

Duskull turned and began to cackle at your pup as it lay on the ground. Were you going to battle with this Pokémon? It didn't seem like it wanted to battle, just have some fun. If you could take advantage of this, maybe you could own it, without having to battle it? Thats up to you.

Click. Click. Whiiirrrr. Tala was still frozen on the ground, staring up at the ghost, but her mind flicked back on. Ok, so the ghost isn’t malignant… The paralysis gave a little at this realization, and Tala was able to stumble back to her feet. Zenith was a little shocked that he had phased through the ghost when he had been expecting an impact. Rather, the only thing he collided with was the ground. The fire pup looked to Tala expectantly.

I could just befriend it. That way I’d still be able to say I’d never fought any of my Pokémon, heh… Tala attempted to straighten up but found that the adrenaline in her stomach made it uncomfortable. Instead she stood with her knees bent as if ready to jump. Her mind, however, was still working. But Zen has Bite and Ember, and the one thing I do know is that Ghosts are weak to Dark, because that’s so ironic… and if Zen fights this thing, he’ll gain another level… Um, actually, I don’t think I’d be able to move, let alone speak, enough to befriend it… It was a tough decision, because Tala was apprehensive about her Growlithe fighting before being fully healed. However, he did have the attack advantage- and Tala was the sort to take risks.

“Z-zen, come here a s-sec.” Mentally cursing herself for stuttering, Tala waited for the growlithe to trot to her side; his were eyes following the ghost the entire time. Tala didn’t want the Duskull to hear her plan. With Zenith in front of her and her concentration focused on him, Tala was able to shed the stutter. “Ok, I know you aren’t in top condition, but I have faith in you. You’re a smart growlithe and you know how to fight. Now look, if we do this right, we’ll be able to catch this Duskull in a just a couple rounds.”Zenith woofed lightly, inspired and already centered on the fight. His one-track mind allowed for his energy to be channeled efficiently.

“Are you ready? Our first attack will be a surprise to reap the most damage. You need to pretend to play along with the Duskull at first; then, when her guard is down, fire off three rapid Bite attacks; they’re her weakness, and if you hit her with three as quick as possible before she realizes what’s happening you’ll be able to do a lot of damage. If she avoids any of them, wait for her to try to attack you before completing the Bites. And whatever you do, try and avoid direct eye-contact…” Instinctively, Tala felt there was something dangerous about a ghost-Pokémon’s eyes. Didn’t they have quite a few attacks that had to do with their eyes? Well, perhaps something like that…

Zenith nodded and faced the Duskull, ready to follow through with Tala’s plan.

Growlithe leapt towards the Duskull, acting playful as he growled and jumped from side to side. After a moment of surprise the Duskull started playing back. Your Growlithe continued doing this for about 5 minutes, all the while you grew more and more anxious to see how your plan worked. All of a sudden Growlithe lunged savagely at the ghost Pokémon, surprising the Pokémon so badly that he dropped his defenses and turned to flee.

Growlithe latched onto the Ghost Pokémon, his powerful jaws clamping down with as much power as he could muster, which for the small dog was a lot. He hung on and drug the ghost Pokémon to the ground, let go, and quickly bit a second time. As Growlithe let go to try for a third attack Duskull looked directly at Growlithe and sent out a black burst of energy, also known as night shade. Duskull dusk!” Duskull exclaimed angrily as his eyes started glowing bright red. Growlithe backed off slightly, his defenses falling as he was hit by the leer attack.

As Duskull came in for a second attack Growlithe jumped to the side, lunged again, and bit deep into the side of the ghost Pokémon.

Well, this went well for the first round, as a matter of fact it went really well, only a few mistakes by your Growlithe. If you can get the right combo on this one this might be the last round. Anyways, what are you going to do now?

((Sorry in advance this is a short post- I’m super busy this week so I have to post in between plans.))

Zenith, panting, backed off to wait for his next commands.

This round had gone very well—it was a relief that Tala’s plan had worked. It was still a close battle, but at least now Zenith wasn’t hurt more than the Duskull. If she played this round right, it would be the last. Just like she promised. That was good; Tala always tried to keep her promises to her Pokémon. Trust was important for that kind of relationship.

“Great job, Zen! This is what we’re going to try now: use your new Ember attack to blind the Duskull with flames. Then, use Agility to launch yourself at the ghost and use Bite—the extra speed boost should add to the damage. If you get this right then I may be able to catch her next round.” Tala crossed her fingers in hope that this would work. They might be able to survive another round if it didn’t, but mostly she was distracted by her need to reach a Center. “And if you miss, just keep using Ember at the Duskull so she can’t get a clear shot at you.”

Would Tala and Zenith’s luck last? Stay tuned and find out next time on The Adventures of Tala Zefir!

Growlithe nodded and started circling the Duskull, keeping a careful eye on the Pokémon just in case she decided to attack. As Growlithe moved he built up more energy for his ember attack. Finally, he let out a massive blast of fire directly at the ghost. He instantly followed it up by running towards the ghost, using agility to speed himself up for a bite attack.

The ember roars towards the Duskull, the heat so intense that you can feel it from were you stand. The Duskull rises up and flies right over the Ember, only to be met by the bared fangs of Growlithe. Growlithe latches on with his bite attack and hangs on for a few seconds before letting go and dropping safely to the ground.

Duskull flutters around for a few seconds before landing on the ground. She tries floating back up but cant get the energy to work because of the pain she’s in. Now is your chance, throw that Pokeball and catch that darned thing.

Here was her chance. The ember-blinding strategy had worked; that was mentally noted by Tala, who was excited to have a new move to work with. When the ghost type Pokémon fluttered to the ground, Tala’s paralysis broke. There was no need to be afraid of a Pokémon that couldn’t defend itself. Tala breathed a sigh of relief and flexed her arms. It was funny that you never cared about something until it was lost—like the ability to move.

With the Duskull defenseless and defeated on the floor there was only one thing left to do. Tala whipped out an empty pokeball, and, with a flick of her wrist, sent it flying towards the wild Pokémon; at the same time with her other hand she snatched Zenith’s pokeball from her side and prepared to recall the twice-victorious growlithe. There was still a chance that the Duskull would not be caught, though very slim. Yet Tala waited to recall Zenith, watching for a little red light on the pokeball she had tossed.

The partners stood motionless, waiting to see if their catch was successful.

(( >< Again, sorry sorry for the horribility of the post—I have to leave like right now. ))

[It's ok we all can't have 5 paragraph long posts every time :3]
[Gratz you caught a Lv. 6 :duskull , your :growlithe gained 60 :exp and grew to level 7]

The pokeball soared thorugh the air, the hairs on the back of you next stood up with fear as it seemed to swerve to much to the left, the thought of 'damn, damn, damn' came to mind before it swerved back towards the Pokémon and your stomach dropped with reliefe, it smacked the duskull square on the head and encased the dazed thing in a lightly transparent red light.

You couldn't help contain yourself and a big cheesy grin appered on your face, feeling pleased with yourself by not stuffing up and throwing well you wanted to dance but restrained yourself, ovisouly not that excited.

With about 3 fluid movements you recalled your Growlithe and picked up the Duskulls pokeball, such elegance and such grace was the least you could do after wining a battle. Currently aware of your suroudnings the run down old buildings with spray paint everywhere, faint shouting in the distance, police sirens and gunshots could be heard, you better get out of here.

After scrambling around in the sun-less streets, the orange sky turning a dark brown, not a star in the sky could be seen, light and air pollution blocked out all natural light, but to your luck, a Pokémon center had taken advantage of this disadvantage by sending a bright white light, a beacon to lure in lost trainers and hurt Pokémon, a white pokeball icon cut into the musky skies and marked it with hope, you followed it for another hour before finding the main street and following it down to the white building, illuminated next to the dark office builings and sky high appartments.

With a "Bing, Hello, can I help you?, Boop-deboopdelobing Thanks, and ahh..., Ah yes rooms are $15 for board, dinner and breakfast."

It was farily busy in here, fresher than the city air, plants in the corners and polished tiles, the waiting room looked comfroting, it had a fireplace and soft couches around it, with many trainers, co-ordinators, and just a bunch of rag-bag sitting on them.

((I’m not sure whether they were healed or not, so I’ll just RP this part..
BTW, on Tuesday my posts will return to normal.))

Tala jogged into the Center, now carrying three near-fainting Pokémon. It was pretty busy in the Center, and unfortunately Tala got the feeling she’d sincerely regret cutting in line here. So instead she unhooked her three pokeballs from her belt and sat down on one of the plush couches. Might as well get comfortable while she waited to be helped.

Flinging her feet onto the couch, Tala rested her head on the arm rest and closed her eyes. Duskull was her first ‘caught’ Pokémon—and she was a ghost Pokémon. That meant that Tala would have to learn not to be afraid of her. The name Raja would suit the Duskull. It meant Hope, and Tala definitely hoped she could learn to handle her fear. It was necessary for this team to work.

Tala opened her eyes and glanced over the room. After her Pokémon were healed she would want something to do—there must be something interesting happening somewhere in the city. It was Hurst, after all. The city of Fire.. and crime.

The line to the front of the Pokécenter seemed to be moving fairly quickly. It wasn't long before it was nearly your turn to get your Pokémon healed. The person in front was mumbling some nonsense about a competition. He left quite abruptly in a hurry and left the building. You stepped forward and handed your 3 Pokeballs to Nurse Joy.

She took them with a smile and placed them on a machine with a large red cross at the top of it. The machine whirred and beeped until she took the Pokeballs and passed them back to you. "Have a good day," she said. You left the building. As you got outside your Poketch began emitting a faint beeping.

It seemed that there was a competition. It must have been the same one that the man in front of you was talking about! It was a tournament of battles with the winner receiving a fabulous prize. And the first stop was right here in Hurst! It wouldn't be long now until it began, with the message of the competition was a registration form you might want to send that off.

But then again you did only have 3 Pokémon, but all 3 would more than likely be up to the job would they not? You had raised them well and they had trust and faith in you, as you did them. It would be a cake walk right? A rule to the tournament was they all had to be under level 10. So your opponents Pokémon wouldn't be much stronger! But it was a gamble. Were you willing to take it?

(I may have a plot for you, request me if you want)

Tala was pleased that the line moved so quickly. She wasn’t a patient woman, especially when she was waiting for something of so little interest as healing. The man in front of her seemed as impatient as she, mumbling something about a tournament on his way out. Tala raised a brow and watched him leave. Hmm, a tournament, huh? An intrigued smile curled her lips.

Idly handing over her three pokeballs to the helpful Chansey, Tala contemplated the thought of a tournament. Only three Pokémon; two level sevens and a level six. She had better hope it was a one on one fight. When Tala received her pokeballs, she turned and left. Her Poketch began emitting the most annoying little beep when she stepped outside the center; with no other option, Tala checked to see what it was about—and it was that tournament. Perfect timing, with perfect rules: no Pokémon above level ten. Tala grinned. She could deal with that. Four levels was the biggest difference there could be to her disadvantage.

Still a little risky, but totally worth it. I want that prize and those levels… With a sharp movement, Zenith was released from his pokeball. “Guess what? There’s a tournament going on around here…” Tala was a little distracted—she was filling out the registration. “…There, done. Well, I was going to ask if you were in or not, but I figured if I went you’d be willing too. Did I figure correctly?” Zen barked agreement instantly; there wasn’t even a moment of hesitation or reluctance. Tala, who had been standing defensively, warmed up a little. She knew she never could have found a more perfect Pokémon for her—Zen’s undying loyalty and obedience were the only things that could strike Tala’s compassion.

“That’s good then. Now what are we waiting for? Let’s find this place.” Tala released her breath and ran a hand through her short, spiky hair. She wasn’t one to back down from these sorts of things. Tala set off at a swift pace, glancing back once to make sure her growlithe was following. He was right at her side.

“Hey, Zen, I wonder what that prize is, eh?”

(Just checking, you know that the competition is OOC don't you?)

You began moving at quite a pace with your Growlithe by your side. You weaved in and out of some of the large buildings that littered the streets of Hurst. Now that you looked around in much more detail you noticed that there was a lot of rubbish on the streets. But there also no trash cans and that was probably why.

Growlithe began sniffing the air around you, almost sensing something. Something that he had smelt before. But what was it? He couldn't quite put his paw on it. It wasn't a smell he had come across often, but one quite recently. Growlithe did know one thing however, it was an enemy!

He had started growling in all directions, where was this thing, it was close whatever it was. You heard a rustling from behind you. You span around, as did Growlithe but nothing was there. There was an ally and nothing else. It was pitch black down the ally and impossible to see anything down it.

Suddenly Growlithe was barking more than you had ever heard him growl before. A man stepped out of the shadows, his face still obscured by the darkness of the ally. He wore black shoes, black trousers and a black leather jacket. It was someone you knew, but who was it? Suddenly he spoke in a cold raspy voice. "You're dead!"
