Noticing her bag, Ryan took a glance to see if he could see what she had and noticed something very peculiar. It appeared that she only had two Pokeballs, the one that she returned Pikachu in and the one that the Bellsprout was in. Confused, he wondered where the third one was, or if maybe she thought she could beat him with just the two Pokémon. Or maybe there was something bigger here, like a secret Pokémon that Ryan wouldn't know anything about until the end. Either way, he was really curious about it and wanted to find out quickly, so he decided that now was the time to make things work really well.

"Okay Growlithe, it's time to get things going and try to finish this quickly! First I want you to use Bite and not to let go. While you have your mouth around Bellsprout I want you to unleash Ember, which will hopefully severely burn Bellsprout. After that you can let go and try to get away from Bellsprout as quickly as possible. Finally, if you can, I want you to try to finish it off with your egg move, Heat Wave!"

Grinning again, Ryan felt that things would go really well, what with the fact that Growlithe was a fire type with an awesome fire move. Plus the whole Ember thing when he's still holding on to Bellsprout was a technique that he had Growlithe use before. He was very fond of it and thought that it was a really good way to do the most damage with Ember. Now he would just have to see how things went with this whole scheme..

((The squeemish should look away now.))

Her voice kept getting worse, like it was dry or something. You couldn't even remotely hear her commands any more. As a matter of fact, neither could Bellsprout. He only stood there wondering what was wrong with his trainer's voice. It seems almost cruel what you were about to do to the poor thing when he can't protect himself. Growlithe heard you words and lept into the frey once again.

Growlithe ran and used Bite on the Bellsprout. He managed to get a good grasp around his middle and held tight. The plant tried a Vine Whip to get away, but did minimal damage. Your puppy then released the Ember like you wanted. Bellsprout was trapped and getting scorched at close range. As you quickly looked up at the girl, she just stared blankly at the battle before her. You look back down and see that Growlithe has released his captive and is now building energy. Heat Wave, just like you asked. Bellsprout looked too burnt to move out of the way. The plant took the massive fire attack and was promptly knocked out. Poor thing didn't stand a chance. The girl withdrew her Bellsprout and put the ball back in her pouch. (Growlithe gained 112 :exp and grew to Lv. 10)

She still stood there, staring at the ground. After a few seconds more, she averted her gaze to you. Her pupals were dialated and she looked short of breath. Then, everything seemed to move in slow motion. The girl's eyes rolled back into her head. That was bad enough, but she was still standing. She dropped to her knees, bobbled for a moment, and then fell on her left side. The girl almost appeared to be sleeping.

Then, it got strange. Her facial expression changed from emotionless to almost bliss. Her mouth became a wide open-mouthed smile and her eyes rolled forward. Her body began shaking, and you could swear someone was laughing. That someone was her. It became louder and louder before it turned into manical laughter. A dark mist started to roll off of her form, condensing around her head. The girl's espression turned back to how it was a few moments before. However, the laughter didn't stop. The dark mist though, lifted off of her and floated above her body. It contorted into two eyes and a wide mouth. You might know this thing better as a Gastly.

Gastly continued laughing and teared up. Apparently, this was one big joke to it, or should I say, her. Finally getting control of herself, she looked over your expression of hate and disgust, with maybe a hint of fear. That girl was under the control of Gastly for, who knows how long now. Maybe a little revenge is in order, what do you say? Oh, and Gastly already took the advantage of your contemplation and used Mean Look on Growlithe. This brought about another fit of laughter. Someone's asking for trouble, don't you think?

Staring at her with a look of miscomprehension, Ryan looked at Bellsprout and couldn't help but feel sorry for him. This girl wasn't able to give out any orders with a voice like that, and poor Bellsprout wouldn't stand a chance. Although then again, the plant Pokémon didn't have a chance even when he could understand her. Growlithe was both a fire type and much too powerful for grass type, especially since it didn't have any strong attacks. It didn't surprise him when Bellsprout was unable to get Growlithe away from him, and he knew that it was over then. Once the Ember was unleashed, Ryan knew that there was no way that this round wouldn't be over after the Heat wave. When that finally came, Ryan couldn't help but wince, feeling a bit sorry for the Bellsprout, but he couldn't show any mercy.

Grinning again, Ryan wondered what the girl would use now, but saw that she began to collapse. Eyes wide, he was about to run over to her and help her out, but then something very odd happened. So odd, that it seemed like something of the occult was happening, as if someone was torturing her using voodoo magic or something of that kind. When he body began to shake, Ryan took a couple steps back, as did Growlithe who began barking at her. Ryan put his hand out to Growlithe to make him stop, and he did, but Ryan could see his fur bristled along the back. Frowning, Ryan furrowed his brow, wondering what in the name of hell was going on with this once emotionless girl.

Then it happened, the laughter came out of her that chilled Ryan to his bones and made Growlithe whimper in fear. Putting his leg in front of his fire type Pokémon, Ryan did his best to keep Growlithe from possibly getting hurt by this insane girl. What was going on anyways, going from emotionless to endless insane laughter that was scary enough to scare a Gastly. Or no, now that he thought about it, wasn't that laughter akin to that of Gastly's, like in that episode of Ash Ketchum's journey? He decided that yes, indeed it was, just as the purple mist began to come from the seemingly psycho girl.

Upon seeing a Mean Look, Ryan knew that there was no way he could recall Growlithe, who was shaking in a bit of fear. Seeing that she was able to take over the body of a human, Ryan couldn't help but be a little scared as well. Who was to say that this thing wouldn't be able to take over his own body, or maybe even take over Growlithe's? Nose flared, Ryan glared at the Gastly in pure hatred and disgust, sickened that a Pokémon would even think of doing what she had done to the girl. Knowing that the girl deserved some form of vengeance, he felt that it was his duty to somehow try to give it to her. He would do his very best at battling this Gastly and completely wiping her out before capturing her to enslave her to his every command.

"You should be sick with yourself," Ryan seethed at the ghost Pokémon. "To even think about manifesting yourself in the body of a human is a disgrace to all Pokémon, and they would be ashamed to associate themselves with you. Now you're going to feel the wrath that Bellsprout felt. Growlithe, your speed is already higher, but to help make sure that you can get to Gastly easily, I want you to use another Agility. Shake off your fear, for you are also a Pokémon of great power and you need to show Gastly by activating your Intimidate ability. When Gastly is caught off guard by this, not only will her attack be lowered, but you'll have a chance to get her. That's when I want you to use your Bite attack, and make sure that you use as much dark energy as you possibly can."

Since Growlithe was bred by experts in the police force, and then raised from a pup within the force, Ryan knew that he'd able to do this. There was also no doubt in Ryan's mind that Growlithe wouldn't be afraid to use dark energy to a critical point. As a matter of fact, Ryan hoped that he would take his training from the police into account and go for the ghost's eyes. If he did that, then there was almost a certainty that it would be a critical hit, and could possibly put Gastly off balance. "As a matter of fact Growlithe, don't be afraid to go for her eyes!" He glared at Gastly again, showing her that he wasn't letting fear control his actions, and Growlithe started to prepare for the Agility while giving Gastly a show of intimidation.

So now the true mastermind behind this battle appeared and now this gave you cause to be afraid. If she was ruthless enough to posess a girl, who's to say that's where she'll stop? Gastly hovered part of her occasionaly floating away which quickly came back to her. It had now began to become quite cloudy and dark, this battle shoud be finished quickly!

"You should be sick with yourself," you yelled at the ghost Pokémon whom merely laughed in return. She didn't care at all, he truely was oblivious to the people she was hurting and for what cause? This was utter madness! What was wrong with this ghost Pokémon? Did it have no heart at all to be attacking innocent people?

Growlithe began to glare at Gastly who seemed to be slightly afraid now, and intimidate was working, just for extra effect, Growlithe beared his teeth to show Gastly that he meant business. So he liked playing did he? Well Growlithe was going to play and he would be the winner. With Gastly still looking scared slightly of him, Growlithe pounced at the ghost Pokémon with an extra burst of Speed and latched onto her head.

He had bitten hard onto Gastly's face and was continuously applying more and more pressure. Gastly was crying out in pain and after realising that she was a ghost Pokémon, disappeared and reappeared next to Growlithe. He had fallen now and returned to you, he had done his job and Ghastly had taken a slight amount of damage. It appeared as if one of Gastly's eyes was swollen, well that wasn't bad now was it? It appeared that Gastly didn't want to attack this round, what was she up to?

If Gastly was a human who was laughing at him like that given the same situation, Ryan would have punched her in the face. She was seriously going to laugh at him like that because he thought that she was absolutely evil? Well she was, and he was going to bring her down and make her sorry for what she did. Because as long as she was his slave, he would be very strict with her and train her hard, making her the first Pokémon he uses in a tough battle. Maybe she'll eventually learn to be nicer and realize that what she has been doing is wrong.

"Okay Growlithe. I don't like how she is just floating there like that. She probably has something up her... whatever, and we need to make sure that she doesn't do anything to jeopardize this. If I can capture here, she'll be the first Pokémon I actually catch here, since Lapras, Phanpy, and you were all gifts that I have received. Now I want you to try to stay on Gastly's blind side if you can, and use an Ember up in the air. Do it so that it will rain back down onto you, activating your Flash Fire ability. This will make your fire attacks stronger, so that way we can do as much damage as possible. And then I think you know what I want you to do. Heat wave."

Growlithe nodded, and started to move towards where Gastly wouldn't see him. Then he would start doing what it was that Ryan had asked him to do, and he would do his best to cause as much damage to Gastly as possible. Ryan still was worried though, because he was sure that Gastly would be trying to do something to keep things as close to even as possible. Looking in his poketch, Ryan tried to figure out what it was that Gastly would be planning. Perhaps she was going to try to place a Curse on Growlithe, which would actually serve to help Ryan, since that would cut down her own HP by a lot. Then the Heat Wave would almost definitely knock her out, although Ryan didn't think that Gastly was stupid enough to do this. Maybe Destiny Bond, which wasn't so good, and he knew then that that would be inevitable, although that was an attack usually learned at Level 40. So he seriously doubted that Gastly knew that one. Whatever it was, Ryan knew that he'd have to end this as soon as possible, and he hoped that after this round, it would be close to done.

Growlithe ran around the side of Gastly and stood there watching her struggling to see for a moment but she still merely floated there. Doing nothing, Growlithe could hear a slight humming coming from somewhere but he couldn't quite place his paw on it. He began sending small amounts of fire into the air which rained down upon him and strengthened him.

As the fire touched him it sent almost a small shockwave of fire across the floor. The humming got louder and managed to reach your ears. Was it, singing? Gastly had began singing a song that was both eiree and yet almost relaxing. Immediately you began to feel a bonechilling sensation and you knew what attack was being used immediately.

Perish Song. An attack that could turn a battle in a moment. And Growlithe had heard its melody! This was very bad and now time was most certainly of the essence but hopefully with Growlithe's special ability you had a bit more 'fire power' on your side the battle should be finished in no time at all right? WRONG! Because tha ancient mod gods have been watching, i'd please them if I were you.

Growlithe shook a bit and the area around him began to grow with an orange coloured light, of course you couldn't feel it as you were outside tis area of effect but you could feel some of the warmth emerging from the sphere in which Gastly was trapped in. The heat constantly rising. Gastly had had enough and span around several times to find Growlithe, this made her dizzy and only narrowly got Growlithe with a lick which immediately stopped Growlithe's attack.

Picking up on a hard to hear sound, Ryan frowned and leaned a bit closer, trying to hear what Gastly was doing. Just when the Ember began to land on Growlithe, the sound began to get louder and he realized it wasn't a humming. Gastly was singing, and Ryan immediately knew that the song was that of Perish Song, a move that would make all Pokémon who heard it faint after three rounds of battle. This was going to be the first one, leaving Ryan with two rounds to finish Gastly off before Growlithe would faint. He thought that it could have been over this round, but before Gastly got the full impact of Heat Wave, she used Lick. Luckily, Growlithe wasn't Paralyzed, which was good for Ryan.

"Okay, listen Growlithe, we're in big trouble now. If we don't defeat Gastly soon, you're going to faint just because of that song, and we don't want that. I want you to use your speed to launch yourself at her and open your mouth, ready for a Bite attack. But right before you chomp down, I want you to shoot out an Ember attack, which will hopefully shock her enough to stop her from disappearing on us. Then you can close your mouth with the Bite to hopefully finish her off. Make sure you launch yourself quickly, just in case Gastly tries using Hypnosis. If she does, then I want you to be able to go too quick to stop, even if you do fall asleep."

Ryan didn't honestly know if this would work, but he couldn't see how it would hurt to try this. He really didn't want to drain Growlithe's energy with another Heat Wave, and he thought that this would be a way to conserve it. Plus, he was sure that this would finish Gastly off, and if it did, well Ryan had his hand on a Pokeball, ready to capture the Gastly. But he wouldn't capture her until she was completely knocked out, just to prove to her that he was good, and also to give Growlithe full experience.

Gastly began moving about now that Perish Song had finally finished, was this battle in the bad for her? Well who knew? She had certainly pulled a decent number on you and with things that are rushed things can go wrong as you were soon to find out. Growlithe's ball of fire energy slowly dissolved back towards him and he shook it off to prepare for his next set of attacks.

Growlithe sprung forwards with his speed and opened his mouth and small collections of fire launched themselves at Gastly who saw the attack and became invisible to avoid it, however unfortunately for Gastly, she had not predicted you to use a follow up attak and reappeared in the same spot only to one again be clamped onto by Growlithe.

Gastly had reappeared in the wrong place as Growlithe had now got hold of the other eye but both Pokémon were now slowly falling to the floor, Gastly had been defeated and now just merely lay there as Growlithe walked away, growing slightly as he did and came to you, proud of his achievements, but he was weak and he fell asleep, obviously he had been hit with hypnosis but after his hard work surely he deserved a nap?

You threw the Pokeball at the ghost Pokémon whom was absorbed in a mist of red light and the ball lightly shook before without much struggle it stopped and the locking mechanism of the Pokeball clicked. You had caught the troublesome Gastly! You walked over to the ball and bent down to pick it up, past the girl's Bellsprout.

As the Pokeball clicked shut the girl sat bolt upright and it was then that your head just turned as everything seemed to change. "OH MY GOD!" She yelled. "Where am I, What am I doing and...WHAT AM I WEARING?" She yelled, she was beginning to cry now and she then saw her unconcious Bellsprout on the floor.

"BELLSPROUT!" She yelled running over to her Pokémon. She knelt down and yelled; "Where are my shoes?!" She was going red now and she looked quite angry. She still hadn't noticed you despite being inches away from her, maybe that was best for the moment. You breathed a sigh of relief. "YOU!" She yelled pointing at you. "What have you done?!"

Growlithe gained 144 :exp !
Growlithe grew to Level 11!
Growlithe has 86 :exp left over!

Ryan cursed when the ghost Pokémon disappeared so as not to be hit by Ember, but luckily did reappear as Growlithe got there to use Bite. Both Pokémon fell towards the ground, and Gastly just layed there, showing that she was indeed defeated. Grinning, Ryan threw the Pokeball, and had a successful capture as his dog Pokémon walked back towards him, obviously tired. Perhaps Gastly used Hypnosis, but Ryan felt that this rest was well deserved and kneeled down to pet his Pokémon. Smiling, he told him what a good boy he was and how proud of himself he should be for doing such a good job. Then he returned Growlithe and put the ball on his belt next to the other three and went to get Gastly's Pokeball.

With another addition to the team, Ryan grinned, not really having wanted a Gastly before now, but perhaps she would be good. He had looked through her attacks and such and found that she could become very useful later on should he need a ghost type. Still, right now he had the girl to worry about, who was finally waking up and saw her Bellsprout practically burned to a crisp. Ryan bit his lip, feeling very sorry for the girl and the Bellsprout who really didn't have any choice in the battle. Gastly might have been able to occupy a body and use it, but she certainly didn't know how to use other Pokémon in battle.

The girl, who still didn't have a name that Ryan knew, pointed at him demanding what it was that he had done. Eyes wide, he put his hands out in front of him to show her that he wasn't going to cause any more harm than what had already been done. He didn't know how to explain to her that she had been taken over by a Gastly who tried to battle Ryan and failed miserably. Well perhaps just explaining it like that would work, since he felt that this girl would have known better than to let Bellsprout be burned by a Growlithe like that. Surely once she put that all together she'd believe that it was something that had possessed her that caused this all to happen.

"Okay, look, I know this is going to sound really weird, but you have to believe me. You were possessed by a Pokémon, a Gastly, who was trying to be mischievous to people. Fortunately for you, she decided to go up against me and used your Pokémon in the battle, probably figuring that I would be weak. Gastlys tend to think that they're superior than other beings just because of the fact that they're ghosts. Not realizing that you were taken over like that, I battled her, who was you, and easily defeated both your Pikachu and your Bellsprout. That's when Gastly left your body, and you fell asleep during my battle against her. But I defeated her as herself and captured her, so I have her right here in this Pokeball." Ryan pointed to the ball that was on his wais that held the Pokémon who caused this mess. "So really, I am sorry about what happened, but because of me you're not possessed by that thing anymore. I'm guessing you might have been battling it earlier on and in the middle of your battle just possessed you to get away? That's the best guess I have for how you got possessed by her..."

Praying that she would believe this, Ryan smiled at her encouragingly and also hoped that he'd perhaps get awarded by her. She sure as hell didn't like the way her clothes were or the fact that she didn't have any shoes on, which suggested that she had more money than she looked. Which would mean that he was right in the beginning with his assumption that such a well groomed Pikachu would belong to a rich owner. Though that seemed like a good thing, Ryan could only see if she wouldn't be a snob and try to blame things on him still. Hopefully he would get awarded with his valiant ways of rescuing her from that sickening Gastly.

The girl still waved her finger accusingly at you as you tried to explain about the situation and how she had been possessed and all the other little jigsaw plot pieces. As you progressed with your story her arm slowly lowered and fell limply beside her. She stared blankly at you once again emotion gone but this time she wasn't possessed.

She stood up, "I don't remember battling a Gastly," she said. "But thank you for defeating it all the same." She said before turning around and walking off, you stood there open mouthed, so you only got a thank you? What sort of reward for all your hard efforts was that? Saving someone's life was equal to a thank you? No I don't think so!

The girl turned around to see were you were. "Well come on then," She said impatiently. She had a rather annoying and whiny voice. "I can't leave you out here, come back to my house." She sounded like you were the one who might be in danger from ghost Pokémon. You promptly followed hoping for some form of reward.

She led you to the southern outskirts of Hurst where there were a pair of 10ft tall wrought iron gates. She pushed one lightly open and made a loud creaking noise. She closed it behind her and you noticed a length of chain and a lock to one side of the gates. Either side of the gates were hedges that also led inwards. It was like a labyrinth!

Thankfully this girl knew her way and led you after about 5 minutes out of the shrubbery and into a grand garden with a huge water fountain of a Wailmer stood. Around it many grass Pokémon were tending to the many plants and flowers and a path led from the labyrinth around the water fountain and to a manor. Well to you it was a manor, to her it was a house. She walked along the path with you staring in awe. "Well are you coming in?" she asked. "Supper should be ready soon!"

Slowly, the girl began to seem to die, just as she was when she was possessed, although she couldn't be again. However, Ryan couldn't help but wonder if maybe Gastly had been watching her for some time before taking over her body. If that was how the girl was a lot, then it would make sense that Gastly would have easily picked up on it and used it to her advantage. Perhaps this Gastly had been living inside of her body for a long time now, although Ryan hoped not for her sake. What would she be like if she went home to find out that she had been possessed for days, or even weeks, perhaps months! Ryan felt really bad for her, and he wondered just how well she'd be able to get back in the flow of things.

However, that was all pushed aside when she said thanks and began to walk away, as that kind of pissed Ryan off. After everything he did for her, she was just going to say thank you and wiper her hands of him, basically telling him to shoo? For a minute, he thought he was going to have to go after her, but then she turned around and asked if he was going to follow her. Of course he wasn't going to say no when there was a chance of getting money or something from her. Quickly, he followed her, though he thought that maybe she was just going to give him a meal and perhaps even let him spend the night. But maybe that was all he was going to get, which was actually really nice of her to do, although it wasn't what he was looking for.

When they got to some gates, she opened them leading him to something that appeared to be a labyrinth, though she knew her way around. It wasn't much more than five minutes when they finally got out of the maze and were in a beautiful garden. Grass Pokémon were all around caring for the plants, and he figured that her parents or someone must own them. Otherwise, he was sure that a lot of them would have vanished by now what with wild Pokémon doing that. But maybe this was like a safe haven of some kind, in which case he might come back to catch one of the Pokémon.

"So are all of these Pokémon owned by you guys, or are they wild? Because wild Pokémon have been vanishing recently, so I can't imagine them all being wild. If they were then this would have to be some kind of safe haven that whoever is taking Pokémon can't get into." He smiled at her before realizing that he had to introduce himself before accepting the dinner invitation. "Oh yes, of course I'm coming." He looked around again before quickly catching up to her. "My name is Ryan Speed. What's yours?"

She stopped in front of the fountain and it looked quite remarkable especially with the sun setting. She turned to look at you as you asked her your questions. "Well," She began. "Papa owns a lot of the Pokémon here and we usually get lots of wild Pokémon to help them out, by their own free will of course." she added.

"But then the skies began to get darker and they stopped coming and our Pokémon began to grow sad but that's ok because it can't stay dark like this forever!" She said with a smile, looking hugely optimistic. Oh the poor foolish girl. "I didn't know Pokémon were disappearing though," she said seriously. "I just thought that they were scared and didn't come."

"Yeh, she began. "I suppose it is sort of a safe haven for Pokémon, but as you can see, we only seem to attract Grass Pokémon." "Some of them are mine and they are just soooo cute!" She said beginning to loose herself in her own thought. As she invited you in she opened up two great oak doors which seemed beyhond her strength to be able to open but she did it.

She smiled as you accepted her offer and led you into a large room with man chairs and a single long table going through the middle. "Hi Ryan," she said. "I'm Janine Thornton." She said, you couldn't help but notice the relationship between her love of grass Pokémon and her last name. Still, you and Janine went to the top of the table where through a set of steel double doors where the sounds of simmering and cluttering. You sat opposite each other, "So what would you like?" She asked, "The checfs can prepare nearly anything in less than 5 minutes." She bragged with an almost smug look on her face.

As the girl spoke, Ryan couldn't help but look up at the sky, not realizing that it was indeed getting darker. Or it had been getting darker anyways, and he couldn't help but wonder why, since there currently didn't seem to be any storm. Maybe a storm was on its way though and it would start raining or snowing or whatever soon. Shrugging his shoulders, Ryan figured that he really couldn't change that from happening or not. But he definitely would have liked to know how to figure out whether a Pokémon in the garden was owned or not. Then again, since she did say it was like a sanctuary, that probably meant that Ryan should leave them all alone no matter what, since they felt safe there.

Smiling, Ryan shook hands with the girl, unable to help but notice that her last name started with thorn. It was a little funny, since she also obviously really liked grass type Pokémon more than any other type. Which would definitely explain why it was that she looked horribly upset when she saw Bellsprout hurt as much as it was. Nodding his head, he followed Janine inside and sat down in one of the chairs, looking across at her smiling face. As she bragged about her chefs, he wondered how good the food would be if it was really forced to be prepared so quickly. Which he assumed that it was good since they still worked here, he wondered if Janine realized that it would probably be even better if they were given more time.

"I'm not into too fancy of food, although I do love seafood," he said grinning. "I think that I'd be happy with a smoked rainbow trout fillet as my main course. On the side, just some steamed vegetables would be good. Tossed salad as the starter though, with some ranch dressing. Oh! Actually make that a lemon vinaigrette if you could please." He grinned at her, hoping she wouldn't think he was too picky with that salad. Ever since he had that greek salad back at home, he just really liked the fruity flavored vinaigrettes.

Wanting to get on with things though, as he was kind of in a hurry, he decided to start asking some questions so he knew just what this whole visit entailed. "So do you have plans for us after dinner Janine?" he asked sweetly. "Am I staying here somewhere, or is this kind of a thank-you dinner where I leave after?" He hoped that that didn't sound so... blunt. Maybe he should really just let her talk, as he seemed to not be able to say things right. "Not that would be like shoving me out the door or anything. I don't mean anything like that at all. I'm just wondering what exactly you have planned." He smiled at her again.

As you declared what you wanted, a waiter came up and began to rapidly memorise every little detail that you had said and walked off into the kitchen. The girl looked slightly impressed at your tastes and merely smiled and waited for the dinner to be prepared. It was about a minute before your starter was brought out and you could begin eating already. The waiter walked to go off into the kitchen but was stopped by Janine.

"Sean, could you run up into the study and fetch me number 112, 238 and 597?" she asked politely. "I'm sure you'll have enough time," she told him in a mildly threatening manner. She turned her attention back to you. "It is a thank you dinner of sorts, you can stay here for at most three nights, Papa is away on work at the moment and doesn't like people staying over, you'll have to leave before he returns," she finished

The waiter Sean returned to the room with 3 boxes gilded with gold and deep purple velvet on the lid of the box. Across the top of each box on the velvet was a rose embroided with gold stitching. The detail was immense and you felt slightly awestruck by it. Upon closer inspection you noticed that it wasn't a rose, but in fact a Roserade.

She saw you staring at the boxes and piped up, "Yes, the Roserade is my family's emblem, we treasure it above all else, even our wealth." She said quite proudly. So there was something to the girl's last name! She unlatched the first box to your left, Sean the third box to your right and that left you to unlatch the second box in front of you.

After they were unlocked, they were opened to reveal another layer of velvet on the inside of the lid with a Roselia and a Budew looking up at a tree in which a Roserade was sleeping. They were almost worshipping it. You noticed this but not why the box had been opened. You looked down to the lower storage part of the box and saw more velvet, but that wasn't all you saw.

In each box was a Pokeball, the one that Janine had opened had a green top instead of the usual red one, the one you opened was a darker and deeper red than normal and Sean's was a blue colour. After opening the box, Sean rushed into the kitchen, no doubt your dinner would be done by now. You stared down at each box wondering what to do.

"You can take one," Janine offered. "I mean, it's the least I can do, you DID save my life after all." She said quite gratefully. "Oh maybe I should explain what is in each Pokeball?" She asked. "Well the green Pokeball has an Oddish inside, the red, a Numel and the Blue a Chinchou." She finished. You picked the one you wanted and Janine locked the other two boxes and placed them further up the table.

Beneath the Pokeball you picked up you saw something wrapped in a blue wrapper and picked that up as well. You knew it simply as a Rare Candy. You put it in your bag and the ball on your belt before the feast began. Sean brought out your order and it was to every description you asked for and better! It looked simply delicious! Another man had brought out Janine's dinner: Roast Pigeon with stuffing and like you, steamed vegetables. Many drinks and pitchers lined the table so you could take your pick of whatever drink you wanted. Tuck in!

(God I deserve a promotion after that lol :D )

With lifted eyebrows, Ryan looked at her, surprised that she said that he'd be able to stay for three nights. Somehow he doubted that three nights would be necessary, although it was nice to have the option. Especially in Hurst City, what with all the crime and everything going on nonstop, although he couldn't say too much. He may have stopped an evil crime lord, but that didn't mean that Ryan was a little goody two shoes. Oh no, he was definitely not a goody goody, and he was sure that he'd prove that eventually. Now don't think he's going to go kill anybody, because murder is definitely not something that he would do. If Ryan actually ever got to doing crime, it would simply be the petty theft, or perhaps a big theft. Not anything big like robbing a bank, but Ryan wasn't sure what he would and wouldn't do exactly.

When she told Sean to go get the three numbers, Ryan looked at her curiously, though she didn't explain herself to him. He waited only a little bit before he returned with three boxes, and he couldn't help but chuckle as she explained how the Roserade was her family's emblem. It also showed that her family was pretty rich though, and clearly had some kind of royalty about them if they had an emblem. Then again, it could also just be a symbol that they liked to use for their own personal things, letters and the like. After they were opened, and Ryan found that they held Pokeballs, he listened to Janine again, knowing which one he wanted right away. Grabbing the Chinchou's Pokeball, he clipped it to his belt and pushed the other away, smiling at Janine and seeing their dinners being brought out.

"Thank you so much Janine," Ryan said. "Everything you're doing for me is really nice. You know you didn't really have to do any of this. It's not like you owe me anything. Anyone would have helped you out if they knew what was going on with you." Of course Ryan was basically lying through his teeth, as he knew most people were very selfish and probably wouldn't have helped at all. But since Janine seemed to be such a positive person, Ryan didn't want her to think that that was the case. "I don't think I'll need to stay here all three nights, but with this city, I suppose anything could happen, right? So if you find that I'm gone in the morning, don't be too surprised, although I promise to remember you in the future and come back to visit you."

Grinning again, Ryan knew that he was, as before, lying through his teeth when he said this, because after he attempted to do what he planned on doing, she'd try to have him arrested. Unless of course he could do it in a way that she would think that he didn't do what he planned on doing, and could make her think that maybe something else happened. As a matter of fact, with that idea, Ryan couldn't help but think that he would be able to pull it off and make her think that he was truly a friend of hers. Once they were all in bed, he was going to try to sneak off into the study and swipe some of those Pokémon that were in there. Then, he'd go back into the room he was staying in and make it look like someone broke in and kidnapped him! Janine wouldn't be able to think anything except that he was kidnapped, and that would probably make her call the police. Hopefully he'd be long gone by then though, and even if the police found him, he could say that he was kidnapped, but got away and didn't want to trouble Janine anymore. Why, this plan was so perfect, but first, he had to know where the study was, and how close to his room it would be.

"So what's this study like? I know that sounds like a very weird question, but my favorite uncle had this amazing study. When I was a kid, I'd spend the whole day in there, just looking at things. Do you think maybe you could show it to me before bed? There's just something about studies that bring back the memories, and it's really nice." He smiled at her again, almost feeling guilty for how much of a backstabber he was turning out to be before telling himself she was rich. Besides, with numbers like that on these Pokémon, there was a pretty good chance that she had tons of Pokémon in there. So if he took maybe three of them, she probably wouldn't even notice, or if she did, it couldn't possibly hurt her too much. He just had to hope that this plan would work and he'd find out where the study was in comparison to where he would be sleeping.
