God, it's already two in the morning. At least the girl's gone so I don't have to hide my terrible shaggy face. But that Duskull would've been something to beat. People like them have to figure out when not to interrupt when I guy's trying to get his daily dose of slumber. The fiasco that had occurred really got my veins pumped up, which really screwed up my plans for rest. I sighed and rummaged through my backpack to find a book I've always enjoyed called Hacking Harvard. Just a little novel to help me doze off or just let my imagine run wild while my eyes sag. A few chapters later, I was fast asleep until the alarm rang out at 7:00 A.M. Only thirty minutes after I finished the first ten-chapters of my book. |

Ah yes. Hacking Harvard, a book about a group of students attempting to get their friend into Harvard, if I'm not mistaken. Nevertheless, its an interesting book, and it seemed to keep you up all night, which would mean you probably didn't get as much sleep as you wanted to, but at least you read a book, right? That's gotta count for something. However, you were probably still tired. Sleeping was an option, but then you be late for your tournament, just like that kid from Pallet Town. Oh wait! The tournament was today. Oh well, you'd probably make it there in time. But you were faced with some pre-tourney options. What would you do before the tournament? Eat? Train a little? Perhaps read the rest of the book? Or maybe you had something else on your mind.. |

[I'm going to be writing short posts due to the tournament and stuff] Crap, I've should have read less during the night. But now that I'm awake, getting my appearance washed would be something necessary to do. I wiped off the drool on the cover of my book and dropped it back into my backpack. I collected everything that was mine and headed out the door and locked it shut with my feet navigating me towards the restrooms. Suddenly, a bring sounded off from my Poketech and then an announcement appeared on the front screen; something about a cute Pokémon contest happening in Tohea. I wasn't exactly into these kind of dress-up games, but if I can obtain some money out of it, entering should be a fun cause. The small little Togepi I have... she would be the best choice out of my entire for the contest. But I feel like Cole should get out there and win it all. Meh, I'll deal with choices after I get my face washed off and get some breakfast in the cafeteria. You can't do anything until you get your morning nutrition. [Yeah, I want to go to Tohea] |

Hygiene, breakfast, and other stuff like that went around smoothly. No interruption, no side tracking to do some random crap like a battle in the café. It was actually quite enjoyable. Apparently, your intention is to get to Tohea. Good idea leaving this early. At this time, there's not many people around, which would make it easy to transverse between cities and such. Walking outside, no one even stopped you until you make your way to the entrance/exit of the town which was route one. Figuring it was best for you, I decided to just keep you moving along route 1. I'm nice like that. This route was actually rather unpopulated at this point. People were probably caught up in other things, too busy to travel out and actually do stuff. As you walked along, you caught sight of something purple flying on a moss-covered rock. It was a bit strange, what could it possibly be? The strange little thing seemed to be just resting there. There was no sign that it was hurt, probably just tired. Upon closer inspection, you could tell that it was a lone Zubat. Most likely separated from the colony after the nightly food hunt. Well, what do you say, a zubat anyone? Lv.7

Leaving the peaceful morning inside the Pokémon Center wasn't as great as I planned it to be since the ruckus outside stirred me into a bad mood. Nevertheless, I slid past the civilians taking their morning strolls with my backpack slung over my shoulder and entered the trail headed to Tohea where the Pokémon Contest was taking coordinators in for competition. I wasn't exactly a coordinator myself, but I felt like this was a good time to bond with Cole a bit more. A bit of fashion riffraff has never bothered me if it was for a sensible cause. I decided to release Cole and Ariana from their pokeballs so they could experience a hiking trip with me without having to strain ourselves into a battle. They chirruped a Good Morning to me and I responded with a sighing grin. They giggled with their animal chirps and went ahead of me so they could stretch out their muscles before I caught up. I don't smile unless there was a good reason for me to do it so I trotted sluggishly along behind the two as they expressed their inner joy out in motion. That joy was instantly silenced soon enough before I had a chance to see why. The sudden change of atmosphere without the laughter felt a bit eerie as I kept my pace steady forward. I broke into a sprint and caught up to Cole and Ariana and skidded into an abrupt halt before I fell into a moss-covered rock that they were staring at. The muttering the two exchanged were too low for me to make out, but I was more interested with the indigo colored bat laying listlessly on the boulder. Steadily, I knelt down beside Ariana and began whispering inside her ears with instructions. "Looks like we have another battle for you, Ariana. The bat right there is called a Zubat, but it's alias doesn't matter as much as how you're going to beat it. I can't risk you bashing your head into that rock with one of your tackles, so you're going to have to sneak near it and use Peck on it's head and immediately jump back to me. It wakes up, Growl at it to frighten it. It continues sleeping, continue with another round of Peck. Just make sure you don't get near it when it sounds off a Supersonic, or else things will get messy. Just knock it around a bit and watch out for it's attacks." I felt like it was time for me to get another nocturnal Pokémon in my possession so my chances of capturing a ghost Pokémon increases. Ariana flapped her wings gently and hovered quietly onto the moss-covered rock with her beak raised. Hammer it down, Ariana. Really give it a wake-up call. |

Perhaps it would've been better to give Chloe a spin in this battle, but Ariana seemed like a better choice anyway. She was the only one of your party that, like Zubat, had a flight advantage. That, and she shared many similarities to the bat; yet, she wasn't blind, and most bats move around by using sound waves. Perhaps the morning sunlight would give the Zubat a run for her money and provide you with an advantage. First thing's first, the battle. Ariana quietly fluttered over towards the sleeping Zubat, smiled evilly (which wasn't very impressive since she had a beak), and began Pecking away. All this did was cause the Zubat to stir a little; the thing even flicked one of her ears slightly. Yet, she continued to sleep without a care for the assaulting Ariana. A little flustered at being ignored, Ariana was ready to start another Pecking fit before a shrill screech blasted her eardrums. Rocketing backward and into another nearby rock, the Hoothoot only succeeded by hurting herself; unluckily for you, she was also pretty confused. Supersonic definitely hadn't done any wonders for you, like you had feared. This Zubat was definitely of the sneakier sort; then again, I usually pretend to sleep longer than I usually do as well to catch more Zs. Enough about my sleeping habits, then. Ariana was left stunned, and Zubat took this opportunity to latch onto the owl's exposed chest and use Leech Life. Being a bug-type move, this didn't affect Ariana very much, but it still caused some damage. Still very confused, Ariana's thrashing eventually dislodged the Zubat; yet, the Hoothoot was left sorta tired from that motion. Aye, is this such a good idea now? Knowing you, you'd stay around long enough to enact revenge on Ariana's part. Lv. 8 34/41 88%VS Lv. 7 31/39 92%

[Short post cuz I felt like it >.>] I didn't feel enough emotion to think about what I should do next, so I just went through my past methods and chose one out of random. It was decent enough to work passively, but not exactly effectively last time I checked. The little Zubat was sneaky, but I have an entire team to take it down with. "Ariana, rocket yourself into the air with an Agility and hover there for a few seconds. Let the Zubat near you first before making any sudden movements. When it's just a few feet away, lash your wings forward and use Gust to make it falter, which should just be enough time for you to dive at it with a Body Slam or a Tackle, whichever you can think of first. Don't hold onto the attack too long or you'll get bitten by the Zubat, again. Just ram into it with a hard thrust and then push away from it." Ariana nodded and flew off. I had to be in Tohea by tomorrow so I didn't want to waste a single second just to figure out every variable for an unnecessary battle. I folded my arms crossly and tapped my foot impatiently for the match to end. |

Ahh, it's been a while since i joined you on your journey. I have nothing to say for my opening paragraph... I usually try some lulz for the journyman's entertainment but, I'm tired, sorry. Plus, you've been waiting extra-long for a ref, so I'll make it short and snappy for you. Anyway, to the battle. Your Hoothoot burst into the air with explosive acceleration, almost like a rocket. It twirled round as it shot up, and then stopped. It hovered slightly, only flapping its wings every now and then. Waiting for your orders to come into place. Zubat was too headstrong for its own good, and flew in straight for a tackle. Straight into your trap. Hoothoot waited for the bat to get in close range, and it quickly used one, sharp thrust of its wings to send out a shot of wind which hit the Zubat head on. Zubat flinched and began to hurdle to the ground slightly, head first. Before it stopped, by flapping its wings. It then turned up into the air to see where Ariana was. Only to see the rounded bird flying into it with its full body. It wasn't exactly a Body slam, but it was more powerfull than a tackle. It hurdled towards the ground and plowed into it, softly. Now, make the most of this. Lv. 8 34/41 75%(Speed +2) Vs. Lv. 7 16/39 85%

"Excellent, Ariana. Your speed still hasn't died down even with those stubby wings of yours." Ariana groaned but accepted my praise anyways. The Zubat uttered some muffled sound that was being told to the dirt so I couldn't translate any of it's high-pitched grunts. I slumped over to one of the trees and examined it all around until I found a patch of moss growing from one side. If north is that way and the sun is there, then that means I still have at the very least seven hours to get to Tohea, but only about three to register for the contest. I better speed up the pace if I want to reach the deadline on time. I thought about whether or not I should use my Great Ball now so I can blaze through this path earlier. No, I have to let Ariana get her training done. I haven't been able to give her any practice sessions and this is the best time for it. It's only a round left, at least, so I can waste a few more minutes here before setting off. Now what to do so Ariana can cream this bat... "Ariana, stay in the air and use another Gust at the Zubat with a pressured thrust while it's still down. Avoid it's Supersonic at all cost. Taunt it into following you and swerve your body in a zigzag motion so it has a harder time detecting you. As soon as you see it becoming tired, dive up and loop-de-loop behind Zubat and bash into it with a Tackle. Just like last time, don't cling onto the attack or else it's Leech Life will get you." Ariana already knew this method of evasion from many times before from our training sessions. She flapped seven feet above the Zubat and readied her aim at it, beating her wings forcefully to get the edge on it. I took out my hacker's novel from my backpack and started reading it while whistling a comforting tune with an empty pokeball in hand when Ariana weakens it enough. [If the Zubat's HP goes to 8 or below that just say I threw the pokeball and caught it and junk] Edited by Lurk, Jul 18 2008, 12:02 PM.

Ariana continued flapping, sending out a huge burst of wind that slammed into the Zubat from above, sending it crashing into the ground as it tried flying away. It landed with a hard thud, and Ariana continued slamming into the bat Pokémon with the power of gust. Suddenly Ariana stopped and floated above the Zubat, ready to take off and start flying at the first necessary need. She bobbed from left to right, until finally Zubat ended up in the air. Zubat flapped its leathery wings and achieved lift-off. Zubat looked up at Ariana and made the eyeless equivalent of a glare. Zubat started flapping harder, taking off after Ariana, who quickly started her zigzagging routine. Zubat follows her with his head, keeping her almost in view; she can see her out of the corner of his ‘eyes’. She flapped harder and started to catch up with Ariana, as her head starts to glow bright white. Zubat speeds up again, and Ariana looks back, noticing how close the Zubat is, and decides now is her chance to strike or be struck. She flaps harder and starts flying up, her eyes on the Zubat. She starts to come down from above, ready to get behind Zubat, but the Zubat isn’t going straight anymore. Se is headed directly up for Ariana, her head aimed directly at the bird. Ariana tried turning in the air, but takes a grazing strike to the left flank. Ariana screeches in pain and has to flap harder to stay aloft. As she gets her wings under her again she turns and spots the Zubat coming back for a second hit. This one misses as Ariana flapped backwards, ten as Zubat passes she shoots forward, and catches her on the center of his back. Zubat falls to the ground and starts to flutter, obviously in major pain, and you quickly throw the Pokeball at it. The Pokeball hits it on the head, and sucks the little bat in as a bright red light absorbs it and retreats back into the safety of the ball. It shakes for a few seconds, and time seems to slow down, a matter of mere seconds seeming to take hours. Suddenly the ball stops moving, and you stare at it for another few seconds. You move forward, triumphant in the capture of the Zubat, when suddenly Ariana starts to hoot, motioning you to notice her. As you look up she hops to another tree, her head cocked as if listening to a noise your pitiful human ears couldn’t begin to hear. Obviously she wants you to follow her, are you interested in following her owl instincts? Or were you just going to recall her and head on your merry way? [My Journey's been switched over to Car's journey] "Fantastic, Ariana, truly a magnificent entry in form. I expect that from you in more of your battles, okay?" My praise and advice were just some words that slipped out of my mouth as I was reading my book. Oh my god, Cadel, what the hell were you thinking? I finished another chapter of my book until I had realized that my arm had spontaneously threw my empty pokeball at the Zubat and caught it! My hands went off again on their own and began applauding Ariana's performance with my novel just barely clinging onto my armpit. Ariana looked at me and stared hard into my eyes as though she was searching for something, but soon retracted her eyes and chirruped unknowingly. I shrugged at her without knowing what she wanted and cheerfully snatched the now filled pokeball from the ground and propped it inside the metal case on the side of backpack where I store my pokeballs. I was just a bit way above paranoid that I have to keep my Pokémon in a case made of tungsten-alloy, okay? I flicked my fingers and gestured Ariana to perch on my wing as I left the area I just battled and began walking off towards the direction leading to Tohea City until I heard her alert chirping. I spun around and glanced at her with my baggy eyes to observe her anxiety and the nervousness in her cry. Some weird sounds coming from that direction? My ears pricked up and tried to locate the noises Ariana had stated she heard. I had to close my eyes and concentrate in the direction Ariana said the noises were pretty hard until I finally heard the sounds from a far away distance. I crawled under the bushes towards the noises and took a low glance every few seconds to make sure I didn't go too far. A few minutes of scurrying on my knees, I found myself right outside of a trainer battle between two blue Pokémon and two fire Pokémon. I activated my Poketech and set it on "screen mode" so I could read the text without listening to the voice box. Just lovely. I dragged my ass all the way over here to find a common and useless Pokémon battle that really wasted a ton of my time. Still, I'm two hours ahead of schedule so why not watch these two quarrel? I confess, what really drew me in was the rarity of the Pokémon who were battling. Three super rare starters and a demonic Sneasel all in a single stage. The urge to observe the methods these Pokémon battle by were stunning and pulled me in closer. I didn't notice it at first, but I think for the past three hours I've been running I've gotten pretty far. So far, in fact, that I was already here somewhere in Tohea City! Ariana noticed this quite some time ago was too glazed from watching the match that she didn't even utter a chirp. I looked at her for too long and accidently fell forward past the bush I was hiding behind and revealed myself to the party. Ariana flew over the bush and parked herself onto my scalp and greeted the pack. I was a bit speechless with my jaw hanging in the air in a non-amiable manner until I finally recognized it and closed it hastily. My lips quivered as I tried to collect the right words and then I stopped and just inhaled a deep amount of air. I stuttered a little at the beginning of my greeting, but I balanced it out somewhere at the end. Which wasn't long. "Uh, um, wha? Uh, yeah... hi!" I slapped my forehead and groaned. |
